So, I'm greatful to all of you who spend your time answering some of our dumb (and not so dumb) questions...
I'm new to FCP, and I've only had it for a few days. I've been working with Avid Express DV now for 2 weeks...and all I have to say about FCP, especially in the timeline...is....WOW!.
The editing (ability to lock my audio and shorten video tracks for multiple camera angle input) is just sooooo much easier than ADVX. I like AVID's tutorial better...the step by step process...but I bought an aftermarket FCP tutorial that is very good and helpful too.
I'm sure I'll be slamin this forum with questions...but man, I'm very impressed and it's only been a matter of hours.
THANKS experts for all your input...you make it happen for guys like me.

I too started out a humble newcomer (Avid convert) and learned all I did about FCP from this forum, the Creative Cow, and LAFCPUG.

When you say field, do you mean specifically a form field, such as a text field? Or is the information regular text on the page?

i am currently running a trial version of indesign. i am trying to make a cd booklet. when i open a new document and try to find 'compact disc' in the document presets, it isn't there. all i have for options are 'default and custom'. is it possible to open the 'compact disc' preset from a trial version?

my keyboard on macbook pro (laptop) is acting weird. One key is not responding at all. Have verified using Keyboard viewer and some other keys are printing the unresponsive character at random. "z" is the unresponsive character.
Is it a damaged keyboard ?
The laptop is just 2 months old, will Apple replace it with a new one if its indeed a damaged keyboard or just repair, I use it for official purposes so being without a laptop is not much of an option.No one here works for Apple, so we don't know what Apple might or might not do. If it's a genuine defect, they will of course repair it under warranty. It is not their responsibility if it effects your ability to work or not, so that's on you.
If, however, they determine that the key is problematic as a result of your misuse of the laptop, then everything is on you. And trust me, if they find a glob of dried up beer or coffee there, they will charge you.
Your only choice is to take it in for repair. -
Installed new hard drive in imac and i get folder with question mark, put in OS install disk and it does nothing? All I have is wireless key board and mouse, is this an issue?
Other than put disc in you don't give much info about what you've done. With the install disc inserted restart your Mac while holding the C key, that should start it up from the install disc. Should also work fine with a wireless Apple keyboard.

If you set up the Find My iPod service prior to the iPod going missing, then there is a chance that can be tracked, though it depends on a number of factors (the iPod is turned on, connected to a WiFi network, and has not had the Find My iPod service disabled). Log into icloud.com and go to the Find My iPhone section. Then contact the police, giving them any location information you get.
If you did not set up Find My iPod, then there is no way to track it. Notify the police and change any passwords for any online accounts you may have used from your iPod (the iTunes Store, for instance).

All data that was on your iPhone should be on your computer.
All photos that were transferred to your iPhone from your computer should remain on your computer and can be retransferred. Photos/videos captured by the iPhone can and should be imported by your computer as with any other digital camera - especially before installing an iOS update. Re-transfer these photos from your computer as with any other photos available on your computer.
Contacts and notes are designed to be synced with a supported application on your computer, and there are some free email accounts that support syncing contacts and notes over the air. -

If you have iOS 5 then swipe the song left or right and tap the delete button that appears. If not iOS 5 then you have to connect to computer and unsync.

How do I create a new folder on my iPad & iPhone email mailboxes, using RCN as my Internet provider?
Actually, you can create additional mailboxes directly on the iPad. I have done it in 3 differemt IMAP accounts. But you do have to have IMAP email. However as stated above, this is not a function of the mail app.
If you had an IMAP email account, any additional mailboxes that you already had set up would have synced to the iPad and you would see them in your email account in the Mail app.
if you want to see for yourself..... If you go to your email account in the Mail app and look at the window where your inbox, trash folder and sent folder are - if there is an Edit button at the top of the window - tap that and then tap Add Mailbox at the bottom.
If the Edit button is not there - you cannot create folders on the iPad. Your email account is not IMAP. -
I need to back up my phone it is saying I don't have enough storage, I deleted all my pics and texts. I still have my music and it is still 98% full, it is telling me I need to delete data. What data does it want me to delete and from where? HELP please
Check Settings>iCloud>Storage & Backup>Manage Storage and see if you have a backup of another device listed under Backups that you don't need. If so, tap the name of the device, then tap Delete Backup at the bottom. There are more suggestions in this article: http://support.apple.com/kb/ht4847.
