All import convert to symbol ??

Is it best practice when importing, jpg and png to first
import to stage then convert to symbol (MC) then delete and now you
have it in the library to use?

Huh? Why would you delete anything once you imported it into
the library? If you import an image then convert it to a movie
clip, you can't delete the imported image or else you will delete
what's in that movie clip. Like Urami said, I would only convert to
a symbol if you need to apply actionscript to it or need to tween
it.

Hello,
I am a beginner and I have made an animation that consists of 4 Movie-Clip symbols (3 have motion tweens). I created it as a place holder for an upcoming website that I am designing. I am trying to select all 4 layers on my stage and convert everything into a single movie clip. I don't know what I am doing wrong.
I would really be happy if someone could give some tips on how to fix this.

Thanks for responding. I followed your instructions. I first Inserted a Symbol of type Movie Clip > Then selected all frames from Scene 1 > Copy Frames > Went to my new movie clip > Selected the first and only frame in the 1st and only layer > Right click > Paste Frames.
All this did was copy every layer in its entirety into my new movie clip. If you look where the little red man is pointed , that's the target frame, but it's empty. You'll notice that even my guides came over from the copy.
What am I doing wrong?
The frames that I am copying are on the stage of Scene1. Is this normally how it's done?

There isn't a preference for automatically converting to DNG, instead you choose Convert to DNG within the File Handling section of the Import window.
Within the Import section of the Preferences panel you need decide how the DNG files are to be created. The following screen shot is probably the best choice for Lr 2.4 and later.

Problem With Convert to symbol

I am having a stupid problem with the convert to symbol
function in Flash 8 pro. When I import to library and then convert
my first symbol, everything works fine. But then when I try to
convert another piece of art to a symbol, it becomes the same
symbol as before. so i can only convert 1 symbol. This just started
happening. I'm converting to graphic symbols, and I have even
uninstalled and reinstalled. Has anyone else had this
problem?

Importing/converting DVD to .mov file for FCP

I had a friend give me a homemade DVD that I want to import/convert into a .mov file for editing in FCP. I've read the threads on MPEG Streamclip, but it asks to select the file(s) to import (vs one file). Not sure if I'm on the right track.
Here's what I see on the DVD:

Hi Piero... Congrats man... your explanation is the best simple explanation of getting material off a DVD into a form where it can be editied in FCP.
Just to make it clear to anyone else...
1- go to http://www.squared5.com/ and download the FREE program MPEG STREAMCLIP.
Install it in your applications folder. Start Mpeg Streamclip, and insert the DVD into your drive.
2- Go to FILE > OPEN and use that to navigate to the DVD, look in the video_ts file and select the first .vob file of a series, e.g. VTS010.VOB; you'll be asked if you want to open all files of that stream, and you answer yes. You'd better also apply the command Edit/Remove Timecode Breaks before exporting.
This takes a minute or three depending on how much material ois on the DVD.
3 - Now go to the Mpeg Streamclip command line and select **Export to QuickTime** (NOT Export to DV)
Use these settings :
Compression: Apple DV-PAL (DV-PAL for UK/Europe, or Apple DV-DVCPRO/NTSC), Quality: 100%,
fps: 25 for PAL or 29,97 for NTSC,
Audio: uncompressed, Stereo, 48 KHz.
AND hit go !
Mpeg Streamclip will promt you to name the new file name and a location for saving.
This can take a minute for every minute of material.. so is a slow process.
I decided to use the "in" and "out" markers on Mpeg Streamclip to define smaller chunks of the DVD to convert at a time... rather than risk it running for 40 minutes and crashing (which it did first time). If you're ripping the DVD for editing purposes then this should not cause any problems.
Once it's finished, go to the save location, and you should see a Quicktime movie with the name you gave it.
You can now go into FCP and IMPORT this Qtime move and edit it.

How to undo "convert to symbol"?

How can i undo "convert to symbol" without the normal "Undo"-button under "edit"- button
because I don`t want to undo everything since 3 days.

Unfornately there is no undo (or as other Adobe applications, call it, 'Break Apart') 'Symbol' command, though it would make for a great request.
The best option, at the moment, is to
- Enter Edit in Place for that particular Symbol;
- Edit > Slect All;
- Edit > Copy;
- Exit Symbol In-Place mode;
- Then on your Stage, Edit > Paste Special > Paste All
Even then it will not be perfect because if your Symbol timeline has Triggers and Labels, the above process will not be copied/pasted. They will have to done separately.

I convert it to a symbol, however when I do this, the tween
is corrupted.
Why is this happening only when I convert to symbol ?

select all frames/layers.
right click over them and select "copy frames".
Create a new symbol in the library - select frame 1 and right
click - "paste frames".
Drag symbol to stage on new layer and delete original layers.

Esx24 importing/converting quicktime files

Is there a way to import/convert quicktime to soundfont or other esx24 compatible extensions to the sampler? any help most appreciated! i'm running logic pro 7

You can convert soundfonts easy to EXS24-I may have misunderstood you but you create a folder in your USER's Logic/Library area. Drop your soundfonts in there and then Logic will access them. It is laid out pretty clear in the manual.
If you want to make soundfonts there are a few editors for OS X but no conversion utility I know of. As far as QuickTime-it just has a little GM compatible sampler integrated...so GM compatability/Lib is all you'd need. The basic LP7 lib should cover the bulk of what you'd need but you'd have to put in a few hours getting things GM ready because there is no AFAIK GM set made public of the std LP7 library.

How can I delete the All Imported folder on my ipad (imported from an SD card)

When traveling, I import all of the pictures I take each day into the photos app to view the day's results, and provide a back up copy. I then return the SD card to my camera for the next day's use. In this way, at the end of my trip, I have all of my photos on both my SD card (or cards) and also my ipad. When I return home, I load all of my photos into Photoshop on my PC for storage and editing.
I then wish to delete the entire All Imported folder from my ipad. I have not found a way to do this. I could theoretically individually select each photo and then delete them all. This is impractical, however, since I have thousands of pictures on my ipad by the ende of the trip.
I seems to me that there must be a way to delete the entire imported folder, but I can't find it. I can delete folders that I manually create using the edit function, but this doesn't work for the imported folders.
I haven't been able to find a solution on the community or using google. Any help will be appreciated.

The iPhoto App can select all of the photos in the All Imported folder and delete them.

I tried Peggy's List > Select All > Copy > Paste into an AW spreadsheet suggestion.
In my case, pasting into the spreadsheet lost all text formatting (mostly text set to bold). The results of formulas were pasted, and checkboxes were pasted as "on" or "off". The DB did not contain any pop-up menus or radio buttons, but I expect they would transfer as a number showing the list position of the chosen item.
Pasting the copied List view data into a Numbers table gave a result similar to that with AppleWorks. I selected B2 as the target cell (for top left cell of the pasted data) to avoid any effects of posting into a header row or column. Bold and regular text formatting looked the same as it had in AW's List view.
Based on that, I'd slip the 'paste into an AppleWorks Spreadsheet step, and paste directly into a Numbers Table.

If i have a symbol call "data" and within this i have 4 elements called 1,2,3,4 how do i add styling to all these elements without having to re-write code for each element.
I know i can style a symbol called "data" by :
sym.$("data").css("font-family", "baumans, sans-serif", "font-size", "15px");
...But this does not style the content of the elements 1,2,3 and 4
If i were using standard CSS and HTML then all div's within a div called "data" would be styled the same.

If the app is no longer in the store then you won't be able to redownload it, and if you haven't got a copy of it anywhere (you don't have another iOS device which has it on ?), and if you haven't got a backup of the iPad on your computer's iTunes (if you haven't got a backup then you won't have the app's content), then you won't be able to get it and your passwords back.

Yes, delete all the apps currently in iTunes, then transfer all the apps currently on the iPad back into iTunes. Of course it will take some time to sync the apps back into iTunes, but it satisfies your desire to remove all apps from iTunes that are not on your iPad without the need to laboriously note what is and is not there. In fact as a bonus after removing all the apps from iTunes you could open the ..\iTunes Media\Mobile Applications folder and delete any remaining orphaned files that might still be there, before you transfer purchases.

Help with Convert to Symbol

I'm trying to link a flash page to another flash page. I'm following the instructions given to me and it has worked up until now.
I convert the text to symbol>select button, then I go to actions, type in the filename.swf and add the level in the script assist.
The link is on a seperate layer, and I can't think of any reason why when I ctrl+enter to see it, the text hasn't changed to a button.
Any ideas or tips for what I'm missing or not doing quite right would be appreciated. Thanks, and I'm using CS3.

right click on your text, click convert to symbol, tick button (if that's the symbol type you want) and click ok. test. your text should respond to the mouse.
to code for a mouse handler, click on your text button, in the properties panel give your text button and instance name, say textBtn and in the actions panel type:
