All-in-one driver installation fails under Windows 7

I am trying to install the all-in-one printer driver for Windows 7, 64-bit, Service Pack 1.  I have downloaded the installer from HP (AIO_CDB_Net_Full_Win_WW_130_141.exe), downloaded it using HP Print and Scan Doctor 4.3 and using the HP Printer Install Wizard (hppiw.exe).  All methods fail.  My computer is a new Dell Inspiron (Intel i5-4440 @ 3.1GHz, 8GB RAM, 64-bit OS).  The printer I am installing for is a HP 6310, which is old but which has worked well for years under Windows XP.  I don't think the printer is an issue since the installer never reaches the point of scanning for hardware.
Symptoms:
Installing using the downloaded installer, the initial splash screen displays.  Selecting "Install" displays a second screen with several progress indicators beginning with "Checking system...".  After checking for a few seconds, an error box pops up complaining that it can't find a file named "hpzpnp.ice_suffix..exe".
There are two files in the Setup directory named "hpzpnp01.exe" and "hpzpnp04.exe".  The Autorun file contains many references to an %ICE_SUFFIX% environment variable.
I guessed that the installer executables did not have enough privelege to set environment variables, so I went through the installer directories and set all the executables to run with administrator privelege.
After that, running "Setup.exe" from the top of the install tree, the initial splash appears, followed by the second "checking system..." progress display.  Then a new window with advice about keeping firewalls turned on, etc. pops up.  Continuing from that point pops up a new error box saying:
"The specified path is too long C:\Program Files (sLar dig mer med hjalp av en demo pa skarmenHitta enkelt dina foton med onskad metod-Datum, Markning, Mappar, Sok, Favoriter)\HP\."
I have done this multiple times, and the parenthesized phrase (Swedish?) is sometimes different, but always wrong.  It looks to me as though the installer is trying to decide whether to install 32- or 64-bit drivers, but can't decide which.  It fails to initialize a string variable and concatenates garbage onto the "C:\Program Files" path string.
I have also seen an error box with the following error near this point:
"C:\Users\Sid\AppData\Local\7zS4689\Setup\hpzrein01.exe" "-wStub" "3...
"The parameter is incorrect."
Clicking OK on the error box aborts the installation.
Installing using the HP Printer Installation Wizard produces the same error message as the initial attempt with the downloaded installer about missing files with names containing "ice_suffix".
Installing using the HP Print and Scan Doctor progresses as far as the "path is too long" message.
I've done this now many times, trying different things, without success.  After each attempt, I run the Uninstall_L4 utility in utils\ccc under the installer tree, then run the OS Disk Cleanup utility.  Following an earlier post, I installed the latest version of Flash Player, with no change in symptoms.
Any fresh ideas would be much appreciated.

Hi ehildum,
Thank you for the time and effort you put into your post. I can see you have done plenty of troubleshooting on your own, but I do have an idea.
If the USB cable is plugged in this could be causing issue. Assuming it is connected, let's unplug and take a look at the Device manager. The hpzpnp.ice_suffix indicates a plug and play 'pnp'.
Follow these steps and let me know what happens.
Click on Start
Right click on Computer
Select Manage
On the left panel, click on Device Manager
Click on View at the top and select Show hidden devices
Look in the list for Other devices
If you see the printer here, right click and select uninstall
Look in the list and click on the arrow next to Printers
If you see the printer here, right click and select uninstall
Delete all files in the %temp% folder
Restart the computer
Open the installer from your download  (AIO_CDB_Net_Full_Win_WW_130_141.exe)
Do Not plug the USB cable in until the software says so.
Please let me know the outcome of these efforts. If your USB cable was not connected please complete the above steps anyway to see if there is something stuck in the Device manager that could be causing the conflict.
I look forward to hearing from you.

  • HP1510 All in one - Driver installation fails

I am trying to install HP1510 all in one onto a new windows 7 machine. Using the HP provided software the installaion fails and it seems that the computer cannot detect the printer (although the machine does detect the printer and yellow triangle is seen on hp1510 in the device manager).
I tried the HP Printer install wizard which recognizes my printer and the USB connection and after diagnosis, says that all relevant software are installed but basic driver is either not installed or configured properly and  wants me to manually update the driver.
If I try to manually update the driver, I see driver is installed and on trying to use it get the  "Unable to find core drive package that is required by this driver package".
HP Print andScan doctor doesn't recognze the printer at all.
PS: I have used the latest driver software downloaded from HP website and connected the printer only when requested. This printer corects works with my other PC so I feel that harware is OK and it is a system issue. I have also run windows update to make sure my PC is updated.

  • HP PhotoSmart 2575 All-In-One Driver/Software Install Issue - Windows 8.1

    Hi
I've just bought a new Sony Viao with Windows 8.1 (64 bit) installed.
I'm trying to install my HP PhotoSmart 2575 All-In-One so downloaded the driver and software installer from here:
    http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/softwareDownloadIndex?softwareitem=mp-110159-1&cc=uk&dlc=en&lc=en...
The file downloaded fine on to my desktop, i double click it and then the Exctracting... thing moves along to 100% then goes off the screen.  Then nothing happens. I was expecting some software for the printing and scanning to be installed or some further install files to be added to my desktop.
    What do i do next?
    Matt

    Hi  Matt,
Thank you for updating me. I can definitely understand the frustration you must be feeling, especially when things seemed to be going great then it changed.
I have 2 documents to follow next.  First, please try the steps in the document titled "Software Installation Stops Without Warning and With No Error Message".   When you get to "Step three: Install the Software", it references HP SmartInstall.  Please don't worry about using that program as it's specific to some of HP's LaserJet printers.  Please use the HP's Printer Install Wizard instead of HP's SmartInstall.
If that document doesn't resolve the issue then please proceed onto the 2nd document titled "The Progress Bar on the Software Installation Stops or Stalls".
Please let me know how it goes.  I want to ensure we have your printer installed and working.

  • HP Photsmart 5524 All-in-one in Error State under Windows 8.1 Continually

I am at the end of tether with HP.  Since the installation of Windows 8.1  I have experienced printer failures upt o 8 times per day.  Initially it was rectified by a combiation of just powering off and on the printer OR by powering off and on the BT OR by powering off and on both the Router and PrinterRouter, but was taking up literally hours per day doing this. About 6 weeks ago, the problem started getting a lot worse with no printing working at all. I have tried deleting and reinstalling the software from the original HP supplied disk.  I am sure that worked with Windows 8.0, but will not run any longer with Windows 8.1. The installation from HP via the web sometimes gets it working and I am able to print and scan for a short period of time (a few hours if I am lucky) until it then disappears from the network again and I cannot access it.  The printer is 18 months old I have lots of spare printer cartrodges at great expense, but I cannot print.  HP used to produce by far the best printers and I have used them exclusively for the last 30 years, but I am near the point of purchasing another printer that will not by an HP printer unless these prblems are resolved very quickly.  This is totally unacceptable.  I see the problems have been known about since 2013 (presumably in the US), and the same problems still persist. Help please HP.

Many thanks for your reply.  I did try all of your suggested solutions and I am afraid none woked for more than an hour or two and then I had the error printing message back again. I suspect it may be a problem with by BT Router and despite hours of calls with them, we have got no further, but they have  despatched a new router to see if that might be the cause. When printing works (sometimes it doesn't for days - until today i had been nearly a week without any printing and last night I went out and bout a PC to HP pronter cable in desperation.  That does work Ok, but is a temporary work around as it cannot be used by more than one PC at a time.  Today, with the BT engineer on the phone, we tried everything we could think of, including static IP addressing, and nothing would work. After we finished, I deleted the printer from the network and re-installed it again and both cabled and wireless connection to the router started working again. However, this has happened sometimes before and then stops again later. I have deleted and re-installed HP drivers so many times over the last 8 weeks, I have lost track of the number of times, changed router configurations, but the same problem either re-occurs or doen't work at all. The HP Printer can see the Router name and its IP Address, even when the Error Printing message appears on my laptop, but when that occuts, the PC cannot see the HP Printer via the Router.  This is why I have been thinking the Router might be causing the fault. If you have any thoughts on this, I would be most grateful for any advice,  But at the moment, my hopes are that a new Router, which is due to arrive next Monday or Tuesday, may help !!!! Thanks again. Colin Faragher

  • HP 7210 all in one printer installation error on windows 8.1 update

We recently got updated by Microsoft from windows 8 to 8.1.  After that time, the scanning function did not work as it did before and the HP menu utility was different. I went through the HP Info service and it said the printer software was not fully functional. I then was told to download the latest hp install software for the 7210, which I did for windows 8/8.1.  The install stops with a fatal MCI error code 1935.  I then went to the troubleshooting guide for error codes (the example box shows almost an identical error message to mine) but it only shows windows XP, Vista, and 7.0.  There is no troubleshooting guide for windows 8 or 8.1 with this code.  I then followed the "HP Solutions for Install Errors (Windows 8.0 and 8.1) and performed all the tasks.  I updated windows to current and same error. I then shut off all startup services and got the same error.  I am now out of idea's or help.
The printer has been great and we have had no problem with it since we've owned it.  At this time we are without a printer completely because the install process removed the previous installed software.
Forgot to mention this is using USB connection, but the install never gets far enough to ask me to connect it, so it really doesn't matter.
Any advice would be extremely welcome.
    Thank you
    Joe

    Hi @DelanoJoe
I see you are getting a fatal MCI error code 1935 and the documentation specific to that code is not for Windows 8 or 8.1.  I will certainly do all I can to help out

Look for, and open the folder starting with 7z (Example: 7zS2356)
    Open folder Util
    Open folder CCC
If you have an HP computer run the L3uninstall.exe. If you have a non-HP computer run the L4uninstall.exe
When the uninstall has completed restart the computer

Windows 7 64 Bit  / MSI P965 Platinum Mother Board
I have three USB driver installations failing. I believe this is related to ' USB', because installations of other software unrelated to USB devices install just fine. Might it be a Windows Installer Service, appears to be running fine?
    Failing Device Driver Installations;
    1) IOGEAR USB 3 PCIe card
Problem: The installer runs part way through the "Preparing to install' process and goes into limbo. I have tried three USB cards by different manufacturers and get the same problem. Tried several Renesas installers, all failed.
Microsoft Windows Installer says: 'Stopped working. Files that help describe the problem: AppCompat.txt, WERInternalMetadata.xml, WERDataCollection failure'.
    2) APC Battery Backup 'PowerChute' Software
Problem: : The installer runs part way through the "Preparing to install' process and goes into  limbo -or- I get an error message telling me to check the USB connection. APC cable is pulgged into a native port, not a hub. APC has no solution.
    3) Logitech Harmony One Remote Software (Finally installed in 'Safe' Mode
Error: : The installer runs part way through the "Preparing to install' process and goes into limbo, but, when I went into 'Safe Mode' the software installed properly. Installation of the other two examples yield the Windows 'can't be installed in safe mode'

  • SoundBlaster X-Fi Driver Installation Fails After Moving Soundcard to New Slot

NSoundBlaster X-Fi Driver Installation Fails After Moving Soundcard to New Slot4 I recently moved my X-Fi Elite Pro soundcard to a different PCI slot to accommodate my new large PCIE graphics card.
Prior to moving the card, my?original SoundBlaster install went fine without any trouble. When I booted up after relocating the card,?it was not detected at all. So I uninstalled my SoundBlaster driver software and?rebooted the computer?thinking that was necessary to clear any hardware configuration settings from the old install. This made no difference. I then discovered my card was not seated properly and corrected it.
Next I installed the SoundBlaster driver software. The installation proceeded and finished with a request to restart the computer. Once I did, the computer detects my card and starts the hardware installation wizard asking if I want Windows to search online for driver software. It does not recognize the just installed SoundBlaster driver installation. I have a dual boot setup and this happens in both WinXP Pro and Vista 32 Home Premium.
    What's wrong here?

Forget it folks...couldn't wait for any suggestions so I just cleaned off my hard dri've and reinstalled everything. Works fine.

  • Will the 2710 all-in-one printer be supported by windows 7? works on xp, will it on windows7?

Is the 2710 all-in-one printer supported/compatible to Windows 7? It was on a XP, however hard drive is crashing and need to see if I may need to buy another all in one printer or able to keep my 2710.

HP recommends that you use genuine HP cartridges. HP cannot guarantee the quality or reliability of non-HP cartridges, or refilled HP cartridges.
Well that being said about the cartridge, I would try a power reset like this:
With the power on, open the ink access door. Remove the power from the printer. Remove the ink cartridge and close the cover. Wait at least 30 seconds then reconnect the power cord to the printer. Turn the printer on. Open the access door and insert the cartridge. That may clear up the issue, if not well.......

I connected a DVD drive with the Double Dragon All in One Driver, via it's USB cable, to my Toshiba Satellite T115 S1100. I have done this numerous times before and there has been no problem. On this occasion I moved the power cable from the DVD to the power socket on the unit and as I inserted it the computer hard drive clicked and the computer went dead. It is now as dead as 'a dodo' and I assuming that there has been a power surge through the USB cable. Does anyone have any thoughts or have I 'toasted' the motherboard or some other part of the computer? Many thanks Peter

    Hi,
Is the printer connected to your PC by USB or network?
By using USB connection, you may scan using the Windows Fax and Scan software integrated into your OS.
Scanning through a network connection unfortunately supported on Windows7 32 bit only, as you  may find listed within the About network scanning section below:

  • C6280 All-in-one driver for windows 8.1 - unalbe to select automatice 2 sided printing

I downloaded and installed the driver and full photo print for my old all-in-one but now I don't have the option for automatice two-sided printing.
Is there a different driver specifically for the C6280 printer I can download?
    pennyph

    Hi @pennyph,
Thank you for visiting the HP Support Forums!  I see you have recently installed the full feature software and drivers for your HP Photosmart C6280 and now you do not have the option for two sided printing (Duplexing).
I would like you to start here: Printing on Both Sides of the Paper (Duplexing) in Microsoft Windows
Please make sure you have enabled the two-sided printing module (duplexer):
    1. Go into the Printers and Faxes folder.
    2. Right-click the device.
    3. Click Properties (not Printing Preferences).
    4. Open the Device Settings tab.
    5. If the duplex unit shows Not Installed, click Not Installed.
    Change it to Installed.
The Automatic selection is added to the list of Two-sided printing options in the Printing Preferences (not Printer properties).
I hope this helps! Let me know if you have anymore questions.
