All in one HP printer model J5780. error message "the cartridge on left needs replacing"

Even when using a brand new colour original HP cartridge, I get the error message on the printer "the cartidge on the left must be replaced). The printer has a red flashing light and will not reset if press ok or cancel. Only way to continue printing is to go via HP solution centre  tools and choose "Diagnostice test". It then prints the test and the requested document. I have cleaned the cartridge and the points inside the printer to no avail.

I'm betting that the contacts inside the printer or on the ink cartridge are dirty. This happens over time. The document below will walk you through cleaning the contacts. Let me know what happens.

  • HT3669 Unable to run the HP All-in-One Installer for LJ 3055 -- Error message says I need to install Rosetta

I have an HP LJ 3055 All-in-One.  Previously, I haven't used it connected to my Mac (i.e., only in 'standalone' mode).  I now want to use the unit's software for faxing and scanning purposes.
However, when I insert the CD that includes the HP All-in-One Installer, I see an error message saying:
"To open LaserJet AIO Installer, you need to install Rosetta.  Would you like to install it now?"
I assume this is related to the CD's having been produced contemporaneous with Tiger, not Snow Leopard -- though I have no idea why it's prompting about Rosetta, since this is a Macintosh installation CD.
Can anyone inform me what I need to do to install the software (i.e., to run the installer) under Snow Leopard, so that I can access the All-in-One's functions via the Mac?
    Thanks.  Replies appreciated.

Responding to two of your posts here...
Thanks.  It wasn't (and still isn't) clear to my why I was getting the prompt about installing Rosetta.  While using the unit with Tiger, I never saw anything about a need for Rosetta (i.e., nothing indicating that any of the software on the CD was pre-Intel).
Printing continues to be available from the Mac but nothing else is supported via the computer.  Scan, fax and copy are available only directly from the unit.
Funny that this can happen with a unit that continues to work perfectly well, without a hitch.  You'd think that OS upgrades would, if anything, enhance software control of a unit -- rather than eliminate it completely.
★ Is there any reason to think that going the 'Rosetta' route would restore the lost functionality (in 10.6.8)? ★
    Thanks.
The reason you were getting the prompt about installing Rosetta now is because Rosetta was automatically installed on OS X 'Tiger' 10.4 and 'Leopard' 10.5. HP didn't mention it as a requirement, because at the time, it was already there and invisible.
Rosetta became an optional install on OS X 10.6, because (I presume) the number of programs and devices still using pre-2006 PowerPC code and thus needing Rosetta, was in steady decline. Why add extra clutter to (this is my guesstimate) 85% of the Macs running Snow Leopard that DO NOT need Rosetta?
In my opinion, it cannot hurt to install Rosetta now.
Only programs (your HP drivers) that REQUIRE Rosetta will even attempt to use it.
The scan fax and copy functions don't work now with Snow Leopard, so at worst, they still won't work.
You can always delete Rosetta again if you need the disk space.

If I correctly understand how Rosetta worked, it created an emulation environment in which certain software (including 'multifunction printer' drivers) would work, the implication being that these software products were not specifically written for the Mac OS.
However, wouldn't those drivers still also have to be supported by the Mac's currently-installed OS in order to work -- as they were in Tiger and Leopard (but are not in Snow Leopard)?

  • HP Officejet Pro All-in-One L7780 Printer installation fatal error "MSI.MSI_BPD.Scan"

    Hi,
I run my laptop (an HP Probook) on XP and have was having trouble printing from Word and thought a good starting point would be to check the printer driver was complete and working by uploading the driver from the HP website.
However, on trying it I received the fatal error message "MSI.MSI_BPD.Scan" saying that a more recent version was already installed (dspite my having used the HP web-site).
The HP fix "HP Installation Error - XP" was automatically insatlled on my desktop, but didn't fix it. (The laptop did re-start as part of the process.)  Part of the fix was to erase the previous version.  However, after going through the process a second time it still didn't work.
Could it be because I used a different target directory for the upload, or is it something else?
Many thanks in anticipation of your help!
    Nick
P.S. I did try the HP Print Diagnostic Utility v5.0 and the printer isn’t recognized (as being there at all) and on clicking the “get drivers” (or something like that) button the process appeared to repeat that above: everything loaded and then – nothing!

    Hey Nick,

  • Hp C310 e all in one. Print that is stuck in the print queue, cancel does not remove

hp C310 e all in one. I have a print that is stuck in the print queue, cancel does not remove says deleting. I have tried shutting down printer, closing word doc, multiple canel all prints. Any Ideas

    Hello mackice,
Try these steps below to clear the print queue. The steps are listed for Vista and Windows 7 and would be slightly different for XP. If you are using a Mac then the steps below would not work. Please advise what OS you are using.
    Option 1)
    1. Click on start orb
    2. Type in search window: "services.msc" (without the quotes)
    3. click ok
    4. Scroll down to Printer spooler service and click on it in the right side window.
    5. On the left side click stop the service and wait forthe process to stop
(Do not close the window yet. You will have to restart it here later.)
    6. next delete the print job in the printer queue
    7. then restart the spooler service
    8. Resubmit your new print job.
    Option 2)
If that doesn't clear it, the next step would be to stop the spooler
    service as stated above
    Go into windows explorer
(Print job data is collected and stored in a spool file in the spooler
    folder.)
    It is located in:
    C:\WINDOWS\system32\spool\PRINTERS
Your print job will show 2 files there Example below:
    00002.SHD
    00002.SPL
Delete the files located in there. There may be several of them
depending apon how many print jobs you submitted. You will have to
resubmit your print jobs all over again.
Next go back to services window and restart the spooler service

  • I am told that my 6500A- all in one- cannot print on both sides of the paper. Is this true?

I just replaced an old HP 840C with the 6500A, and cannot find a way to do 2 sided printing.  After 1 1/2 hours on "live chat", I was told that this model cannot do this.  If so, this is totally unbelieveable, and will result in my total black-linting of HP products in the future.
Is anyone aware of the this?

OK, lets try a couple of things:  on the back of the unit is a sticker that has the serial number.  Below the serial number on the same sticker is an FPU number.  Please report what this number (not the serial number) is as that will help identify your product.
Alternately you can go to the Support and Drivers page, click on Drivers and Software and then slick on Start Now for the automated tool. (See the screen shot below.)
How was the driver software installed - it it the full featured driver or the basic driver?

  • Hp 6500 (all-in-one) "General Printing Error (Ox610000f6)" displayed after first use!

I unpacked my new hp 6500 All-in-One (wireless) today. I was receiving my first fax on the hp 6500 when it stopped printing midway and started to display "ERROR. General Printer Error (Ox610000f6). Refer to printer documentation." I have turned it off and unplugged it many times. It does not work at all. Error message has been displayed all day. This is ridiculous. If I can't resolve this tomorrow it's going back to the store and I'm getting another brand.
There is also NO reference for the error code. Weak.
Message Edited by marie14 on 07-12-2009 10:37 PM

The original poster just acquired their printer.  In this case, the solution was to simply replace it as it was still under warranty.
The error code indicates an internal detected logic fault.  These fall into two classes:  transient events and faults do to failed HW.  Transient events are often solved by simply power cycling the printer after disconnecting all I/O.  Permanent faults are typically not repairable by the user.
I understand your frustration.  If the printer is still under warranty, then simply ask H-P to replace it.
Other solutions are to reset the printer's NVRAM.  For those with an Officejet 6500, the reset method is to press and hold the * and 6 keys while plugging in power and then continue to hold for another 10 seconds.

  • Hp 1512 all in one series printer

i have a hp 1512 all in one series printer the software that came with it says hp 1510 all in one series printer is this the right software

    Hi blanche2,
I understand you are inquiring if you have the proper software CD for your printer. Yes you do. A printer much like a car has a series that contains a base model and a few others. By adding different features and options to the base model it will create a different model number under that original series. The base driver will be the same for all the printers, but each model will have certain extras. Also different store chains will be assigned a different model number in that series depending on the promotions that are offered at that particular chain.
I hope this helps, let me know.
    Thank you,

  • C8180 All in one not printing

I have a C8180 All in one that I can print an alignment paste from the desktop but nothing else.  Running on Vista home premium.

    HI ,
I noticed that you're experiencing issues when printing to your HP Officejet Pro 8600 Printer. I understand that the trouble started when you got a new computer. I would like to look into this for you today. We're looking at the possiblity that the new computer is interfering with the printer's IP Address on the Network. Let's see, if we can identify the cause. I see that you mentioned in your post, Wireless and Wired connection. How is the printer connected? (Ethernet/Wireless) Here's a document I would recommend that you try, An 'Unable to Find Printer' Error Displays for the HP Officejet Pro 251dw, 276dw, and 8600 Printer Series.
Try the HP Print and Scan Doctor to help identify and fix common problems when installing or using HP s on your home network. What were the results when you ran the Print and Scan Doctor? (did it print or scan, any error messages). Note:  You might need to follow this guide for both of the computers. I recommend following it to the end, and then try printing from both machines.
Please respond to this post with the result of your troubleshooting. I look forward to hearing from you. Good Luck!

  • All-in-one 6830 printer Does not enter sleep mode when connected to a phone line

HP staff  help. HP all-in-one printer 6830 does not enter sleep mode when conntected to a phone line via 1-Line jack.  The Firmware is PNP1CN1521AR. On August 1, 2015,  I purchased an HP all-in-one 6830  printer and upgraded to firmware PNP1CN1521AR.When a phone line is connected to 1-Line jack of 6830, the printer will no longer enter  sleep mode and the display remains on indefinitly.Removing the phone connection either from the wall outlet or from the printer causes the sleep mode to work correctly again where the control panel display turns off after 5 minutes (or optionally  after 10 or 15 minutes). This problem was previously reported by a user and has not been resolved, see:http://h30434.www3.hp.com/t5/Other-Printing-Questions/Sleep-mode-of-Officejet-Pro-6830/td-p/4772182 The user did not receive a resolution to this problem according to the thread.
There seems to be a  6830 printer firmware or hardware problem causing this. HP  should be able to confirm this problem on 6830 easily.
    Please advise ASAP.
    Thanks

It's a regular analog phone line. I've tested it with other phone lines. No difference. I have another all-in-one printer which works fine (goes to sleep mode) when plugged into the same phone line.
The 6830 works ok in other aspects. The only problem is the sleep mode. Any 6830 with the firmware I mentioned should replicate the same result, regardless of anything else. The previous firmware to PNP1CN1521AR also created this problem according to the original report of this problem by another user.
I'm sure there's a bug in the firmware. A subroutine in the firmware monitoring the incoming fax ringing, mistakenly, sees the voltage across the phone jack pins as an event and wakes up the printer instantly even though there's no ringing. As the previous user also suspected, there seems to be an error in the phone line voltage threshold used by the firmware. The present firmware always sees a ringing at the phone line which causes it to never stay in sleep mode.
