All in one laser recommendation?

I apologize if this is not the appropriate forum, but I am looking for a recommendation for a all in one printer/fax/scanner for very low volume home use. It needs to be a monochrome laser, have ethernet built in, flat bed scanner (but not necessarily photo quality), and small foot print. Previously I have had only stand alone printers and scanners, so do not know which brands/models might offer good Mac support. Two that I have noticed online are the HP LaserJet Pro M1212nf, and the Brother MFC 7840W. Thanks.

Hi and welcome to the forum.
Is there a specific reason you are only interested in laser, the reason I ask is HP just released a new business inkjet series designed to be lower cost of operation than a laser. Also the inks are pigment based so the inks are pretty water proof. If you are at all interested it's the Officejet Pro 8500 series, there are three versions. Rather than going through the features the link to HP's site is:

  • Scanning with an HP 3390 all-in one laser jet printer using Windows 7 pro (64 bit)

I have recently acquired a Dell Windows 7 Pro (64 bit) OS computer and was wanting to use my HP all-in-one laser jet 3390 printer and scanner. The printer software which came with my HP 3390 will work with my Wind 7 Pro OS computer, however my HP 3390 scanner function will not work using this HP driver software, with my Win 7 Pro OS.  I am trying to locate the appropriate HP scanner and/or different printer drivers that will support both the printer AND scanner functions of my HP 3390 printer/scanner, while using my Windows 7 Pro OS computer.  Within the HP website, I have not been able to find this type of driver software or support, as least listed as such?  I was wondering, if there are maybe no dedicated or described scanner drivers for my situation, is there even another set of drivers which might be intended for other Window 7 Pro OS based computers and other HP printer/scanners, which would work for my situation as well?  Does anyone have a solution to resolve this issue via HP driver software or by another method...maybe even 3rd party?  Ther has to be a solution?

  • Have leopard - which all in one laser fax should I get?

    Hello,
I need an all in one laser fax scanner. Just wondering which one will work for my iMac Core Duo as a scanner and printer (as well as a stand alone fax). I'm asking here since I hear a lot of bad things about the lack of drivers and such.
    Thanks

I have a canon multi-function printer. Scan/copy/print/photo printer. Bought specifically for photo printing and because it was compatible with mac. The install is a bit lengthy compared to the dell printer I used to have connected to my dell pc. It was basically plug-in and turn on. But it's worth the many steps to configure properly and have it running perfectly. I have it connected via usb to my wireless router and the Dell plugged in and my mbpro connected wirelessly. Best thing about it is the several individual ink cartridges. If you're doing any color printing you don't want to replace a color cartridge when you haven't used up all the colors in it. Only replace what you use. My canon (mp620) has 2 separate blacks too. One is used in printing B&W photos because other printers that don't have a portrait black cartridge dedicated specifically for photo printing will give you a B&W photo with more of a blue tint to it. So, depends on your needs. But I haven't had ANY problems with this printer so far. http://www.usa.canon.com/consumer/controller?act=ModelInfoAct&fcategoryid=116&mo delid=17406

  • Color all in one laser printers

I would like to know your recomendation of a GOOD color all in one laser printers that i can use for my small business. I am not interested in printers that are time consuming to set up or have cartrige replacement glitches, or scanning issues.
    HELP.

    hallo to everybody.
I would like to add my problems into the chain of questions.
since update to 10.4.11 (and maybe the installation of vmware fusion ??)
i cannot print simple text-pdfs on my new hp laserjet p2015n anymore. the prints are either empty or off-center. i have tried everything from reinstallation of the drivers, changing the usb port, advice from the hp website, caalling hp who told me the printer was allright, printing from acrobat professional, acrobat reader, preview, converting to a pdfx-3 document and even printing as a bitmap without any result.
who can help me? thank you very much!!

  • All in one laser black and white printer

I currently have a Canon IM MF4150 and it prints and faxes fine but I cannot get it to scan with my Mas OSX v 10.6.
    1. Can anyone help&
    2. What similar laser b7w all in one can you recommend that will scan as well as print and fax.
    Thanks

The MF41xx series did not support scanning to Mac OS X. Later models, such as the MF43xx and MF45xx series, do support scanning to Mac OS X via USB using Canon's MF ScanGear application.

  • All-in-one laser printer suggestion?

I need a laser all-in-one printer (print/scan/fax) to operate with my iMac (20", Intel Core Duo 2 GHz). Can anyone recommend a brand and model that works well with a Mac and doesn't cost too too much? I just purchased (and then returned) a Canon (model Imageclass MF4150) which, upon opening the box, I found did have a scan function for Mac OS. Any recommendations are very much appreciated. D.

If the MF4150 experience hasn't put you off Canon, I can recommend the MF4680. It can push scan to a shared folder on your Mac using Ethernet. All you need to do is enable Windows sharing on your Mac, then select a folder you want to scan to. Then on the MF4680, you create an entry to send the file to this shared folder.

  • All-in-one printer recommendations?

I'm looking for the above for my daughter's 1.25Ghz PB with 10.3.9. Currently looking at HP Officejets 4215, 6210, 7210, and the HP photosmart 2610. She needs it to have built in fax, so that leaves out some of the cheaper ones. Any advice would be appreciated. We are trying to keep the cost down as much as possible, hopefully without buying a piece of junk.

Check out what the Brother line of all in one's. Brother calls them a Multi Function Center. Costco has a few but they were only black and white. I shopped around and paid $179 with a $30 mail-in rebate and bought a Brother MFC-5840CN Fax, Copy, Printer and photo printer with a Flatbed scanner. All in color!!!! Set-up and install was easy as could be and every works Awesome. It sounds like alot, but it is very compact and has the ability to do legal size paper.
I have had HP's in the past and they make a fine machine. But, i must say that this Brother I bought is much more user friendly. Hope this helps.

  • All-in-one printer recommendation

I need a new all-in-one printer for my emac, and am considering the Canon Pixma MP510. I searched the forum and didn't find anything about this one specifically.
I am interested in good scanning capabilities, printing on card stock and transparency paper, and some photo printing although I typically have my photos printed elsewhere.
    Any feedback? Thanks very much.

I have an HP PSC1210 and a Canon Pixma MP130. Although they are definitely low-end all-in-ones, both make resaonably good scans and printouts. I like the HP better, but the ink is terribly expensive.
In general, operating costs for a Canon, Epson, or Brother printer will be much less since high quality generic ink cartridges are widely available for these.
Regarding the scanner capability, Canon has been in the imaging business (i.e. photography) for many years and probably knows more about optics than the others.

  • I would Like to try a Canon all-in-one laser printer...

I have not configured my new MacBook Pro yet but I have a few questions.
    1. I have been using Tiger for the past 3 years and will be using Snow Leopard (installed, I hope) with the new MacBook. Is there anything anyone can think of (besides not making the mistake again and not upgrading to Leopard to get me prepared a bit more for Snow Leopard) that will make the transition from this MacBook Pro, which is acting like an old PC that is infected with all types of viruses and other ad ware, spy ware, etc. I am not sure what it going on, other than the fact that I have never known or received a clear answer on what I should be doing to keep the machine in top condition.
I o have to gt a new one for the grad architecture planning program I am starting, but I would like to get this machine in the est possible position I can and try to sell it.
So any advice or areas I should think about? I have the new OS X Snow Leopard: The Missing Manual by David P. and I think it will help me a lot/
One very specific question I have is trying to purchase the correct CD/DVD for making a copy of the Deluxe TechTool, songs, back-up docs (which I have never done but am planing on getting a really durable external drive to mostly send the back-ups to. On to the CDs at Costco and Best Buy I have not fond a sales person who can explain to be what all the various initials mean and which ones are the best to have for saving things and using the same CD for saving additional date of it is not full and if I want to be able to go back and erase some of the date and r-write over it.
the last CDs I purchased, I put a few songs on one and I could not put anything else. Maybe there is an article that focuses on this topic and explains all the various initials but I really need to learn this. Any help would be much appreciated. Also is there a difference in the sound of recorded music when burning music using a CD that I can keep using until it is full and if I want to make it so that I can't (or any of my brothers can't copy over what I have burned on to the CD?) Not sure if that makes sense. Is there a better quality CD that one would use for music only and when the CD is full I would be ale to do something so that this specific CD can't be used again when it is full, and I make it unusable if anybody tries to add or take away from it.
Thanks. I hope this is not to long. I am really excited to use a different mac and operating system and I hope it all works out. I think it is awesome what some of you guys and gals do by helping us less intelligent one figure some of this stuff out. guys I better speak for myself. So, Thank you!

Add a While Loop, inside the loop add the Event Sructure.
Now in the event structure selecd the String Controls.value change event to

  • All-In-One Printer recommendations please !

Folks, I need a replacement for my HP PSC 1210 which no longer scans under Leopard.
Am going slightly crazy wondering whether to take a chance trusting the manufacturers' claims of compatibility or spending days reading their fine-print where there VERY often lurks that little "Sorry, no scanning" detail or some such.
And *APPLE aren't really very much help either* with a list of supported printers that is dated May 22 2008 and was probably largely compiled before then. Half the printers on their list are only supported by Gutenprint or not at all by Modern Drivers. Maybe I'm a snob but I wouldn't mind at least starting with a driver written by the manufacturer...
    *So, any thoughts ?*
Would like to take another chance on Epson - for the quality of their inks and colours - but their Leopard-supporting printers claims are 95% contradicted by the Apple page ! Might end up with the devil I know - HP, even though their print margins are way too large for liking.
Light home use: occasional scanning, quick photo prints, BW docs.... there must be something out there that people are happy with, right ? ;~))
    Cheers!!!

Woops, no - don't need faxing.
Well, I may try and save it but I'm pretty sure that I found it on the "sorry..." list somewhere. As I say, I've managed to get good print functions back again with a funny combo of hjips, foomatic and gplgs- so maybe there's a scanning equivalent lurking out there.
re: C7280 - that sounds like a recommendation to me ! Are you saying that all functions work as specified using the HP drivers ? COuld be a winner and its smack in the right price bracket.
    Keep 'em coming folks !

  • All-in-one printer?

does anyone have any suggestions for an all-in-one laser printer/fax/scanner? my wife's setting up a home office with the new iMac, and we're looking to get an all-in-one to go with it. so far i've been seeing bad reviews for HP's machines, and canon not offering support for macs.
    any suggestions?

I just logged onto my account at Consumer Reports (Private organization that runs independent tests on all kinds of products) and the top rated multi function printer that suites all of your needs is the Canon Pixma All in One MP780 http://consumer.usa.canon.com/ir/controller?act=ModelTechSpecsAct&fcategoryid=12 3&modelid=10444
This unit is rated excellent in the areas of text quality and photo quality. Also it is excellent overall.
Canon DOES Have Mac OS X Intel drivers for download! On the Canon USA website go under Downloads and you can navigate to a list of drivers, of which include a universal one for Intel and Power PC Macs.
Canon is actually one of the first companies to release drivers, I am suprised after seeing that!
PS - I owned an Epson All-in-One and I dont reccomend getting one of those, after a couple of months the quality goes down, and universal drivers arent out yet.
    Hope this helps you..

  • Recommendations for printer/all in one for use with 10.9+? Help!

Does anyone have recommendations for a printer/all-in-one that will work with Mavericks? Monochrome (b&w) laser printer/all-in-one preferred. This is for a small office (5-8 people). Frequent pdf printing and 30+ page documents.
Right now I'm looking at Brother MFC-7860DW (might need something with a larger capacity), Brother MFC-8710DW, Epson WorkForce WF-M1030 (again, may need something w/ larger capacity), and Canon Laser imageCLASS MF4770n or Canon Laser imageCLASS MF4890dw. Also have looked at Canon imageCLASS MF6160dw but reviews are iffy. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!!

Thanks for your help and input, diggernyc. If I was going to say that my question had been answered I certainly would have chosen your response and not my own. It seems silly that you can't undo marking a post as "solved".
If anyone has suggestions, they are still appreciated. Thanks!

  • Laser All in One

I am looking for a B&W laser all in one printer that I can print to wirelessly from my iPad 2 (IOS 6.2), iPhone, Windows 7 laptops, XP Laptop.  It also needs to fax, scan and copy

Hi - I assume that you want to do this with an Extreme or an Express - there are many brands out there so we cannot recommend one over the other - the only advice that you should keep in mind is that any wireless printer should be iPrint or ePrint capable to be used with the devices listed above - and no matter what brand you choose make sure that you install it exactly according to the manufacturers instructions - they don't install themselves like plug play devices - and make sure that your wireless network is in place and works with all of you devces before installing the new printer.

  • Looking for new All in One. Is Officejet as good as Photosmart? Please recommend an All in One.

I have the HP Photosmart C7180 All in One that's a few years old and is starting to give me a lot of errors (mostly ink level errors).  I'm thinking about replacing it, because I want one that doesn't use as much ink -- and one that has a bigger scanner bed (at least 11 x 14 or bigger).  I'm a budding artist and I want to have the ability to scan in my drawings.
However, I do print a few photos now and then.  Does anyone know if Officejets will print decent pictures?
Please recommend an All in One (the newer the better) for my needs.

Thanks! It sounds like a potential nightmare. Does
anyone have a different experience? I'm not
committed to an all-in-one, but it does save space.
If you're willing to take time and effort into the process, HP's MFDs and Brother's MFDs work... mostly. HP has even improved their drivers. It took 'em long enough.
No, I repeat, no MFD I've ever seen has been trouble-free, Mac or Windows. That includes Epson, Canon, HP, Brother, and (ugggh!) Lexmark devices. They all give problems. Not necessarily the same problems, but problems. HPs and Brothers give the least trouble with Epson a close third... but YMMV. I know people who swear by Canon, while in my personal experience Canon devices have been... not so good. But it was a limited sample, and maybe I had lemons.
Most MFDs (that is, everyone but Brother) don't easily do networking unless it's a Specific Feature™. My HP PSC1350, for instance, does not believe that such a thing as a network exists, and is that way if connected to Macs or Windows machines. I can make it visible over the network, but it's a pain.
If you want wireless network printing, get a wireless router (hint: Apple sells something called an AirPort Base Station) or access point which has a USB port and supports putting printers on the network. Note that you'll likely not be able to scan over the network.
There are network MFDs; HP makes some. They're expensive. The OfficeJet 74xx is $500, and it's the cheap HP network MFD. I do NOT own one, so I have no idea how well they work, other than they're HPs... which means that the hardware will probably be excellent, and the software dreck.
