All iOS camera apps heavy battery drain why?

all camera apps on my iPhone 5 cause severe battery drain. Why?

The battery drain on the iPhone due to the iOS 8 is currently a trending issue which APPLE claims to be working on right now for the next upcoming update.
Agreed to the fact as the iPhone 5 is compatible to 4G Network due to which the Disable 3G option has been removed from the Cellular Settings.
You may use some of the below tips to work on the Battery Life:
1. Use of DND mode the most when possible maybe in the night time or when in a meeting,
2. A new option available in PRIVACY > LOCATION SETTTINGS > When Using, Always, Never.
Switch some application to NEVER which you do not use.
3. Switch the Display and Brightness to AUTO BRIGHTNESS,
4. Turn OFF the Bluetooth and WiFi option when not needed,
5. Turn the REQUIRE PASSCODE duration to the lowest option i.e. After 1 Min,
6. If possible use a DARK BLACK wallpaper,
7. In the MAIL Setting, turn OFF the FETCH Setting by selecting MANUALLY.
Let me know if you have already used these settings and still facing issues..!!

  • IPhone apps crashing & battery draining, why?

My iPhone apps seem to be crashing after a few seconds including Music, email, facebook, sleepcycle and internet. My battery also seems to be draining really quickly all of a sudden. Today, my battery only lasted 4 hours without me using my phone! Has anyone else experienced this and knows of a fix?

SuperSunT,  Thanks for posting this... as I'm having the same problem.
Both my partner and I have iPhone 4S bought on the day they came out.  We weren't having any problems till last month I noticed my phone had the "lock" icon in the center at the top of the home screen and any apps (this "lock" icon is NOT the rotation lock, it is the one that should normally only show up when the phone is locked).  I could not get rid of it, no matter how many times I locked and unlocked my phone.  When I went to go to the Settings app/page, it was blank.  It was just a light grey background with tiny pinstripes (the usual background of the Settings page).   I was also unsuccessful turning the phone off just using the lock/power button.
I finally had to hard-reset the phone as apps started to not work either.
I've only had the "lock" icon problem once, but I've had the Settings App/page blank several times, and each time I've then been unable to shut off the phone with just the lock/power button... then apps start to malfunction.
The other day it did it and I just let it sit locked for about 10 minutes and it resolved.
I have app crashes from time to time, but not anymore than before.
My partner's phone started having the Settings app/page being blank and being unable to shut off the phone wihtout a hard reset the other day as well!
I do not really want to do a clean install, and HATE when the Genius bar suggest this.  They don't ever suggest this for their Mac products, yet they're so nonchalant with this on the phone.  I know they're two VERY different products, but this is getting to be their "I don't know what's wrong.  Instead of me replacing your phone, you must drive back your hour drive, do this arbitrary thing which may or may not fix the problem, and when it doesn't, bring it back in so we can replace the phone and have it do the same thing again until an update comes out!"
Sorry, can you tell I've had a few too many problems where this is the case!
Anyway... I'm really curious about a few things.  I've not done a clean install since getting iOS 5 (even when I got the 4S I restored it from a 4 backup... but my partner just built his from scratch).  So, I know Game Center will take care of my games.  My e-mails are all stored on the server.  My notes are backed up to the Cloud.  I do have general Cloud backups turned off.  I know I'll need to transfer pictures.  But what other types of stuff do you suggest I should backup?  Basically, I'm asking what are the things you wished you had backed up that you forgot?
And what is this "some apps let you send backups by email" that you speak of?  I've not seen that, but I've also not gone looking for it?  It drives me nuts that some apps have settings within the app, and some have them in the Settings app/page... and even worse, some have both!
Sorry this post is so long, but I've been searching for other people having these problems for a month now... starting with the "lock" icon problem (I figured that was the one identifying thing).  Unfortunately, I just ended up with hundreds of people who couldn't figure out that they had turned on the rotation lock and couldn't turn it back off.
Thanks for your (or anyone else's) help in advance!
P.S.  I'm including pictures of the "lock" problem as well as the blank Settings page!
This first one shows the "lock" icon at the top.  Clearly I am on the "Home" screen and the phone is not locked.
This second one is while I'm in the Settings app.  This was taken the same day, and I just noticed that not only is the "lock" icon not showing, neither is the clock.  I have another screen shot from a different day where I wasn't getting the "lock" icon problem, but the clock was in the middle at the top as it should be.

  • How Do I Wrap Text Like the iOS Camera App?

Hello. I am in yearbook, and I have been challenged with designing the cover of the yearbook, and I have been having a few problems along the way. One of these problems is to wrap text. Specifically, I'm stuck on how I would wrap text like the iOS camera app on the bottom of the screen. The words seem like they are wrap around a 3D object to give it that effect, but I can't really tell. If anyone can help me, it would be greatly appreciated.

No iOS apps are use to work on images  they have no value when you have Photoshop. The iPod is better for displaying image then the iPad mini it has a 3:2 aspect ratio display and travels better the the mini iPad which has a 4:3 aspect ratio display.  I also crop image for display on wall mounted HDTV. The iPad is better for casual internet access then the iPod. All our kids have iPhones and they all use computers either Mac or PC for work and internet access.  When you have a Unix or Windows why would you want to touch an iOS device for work or serious internet access.  Apple mobile devices are convenient for casual use and grand kids don't get that dirty finger painting on them as they do using real paint. Nothing of real value is maintained on an iOS device.
Well...there's Photoshop Touch and Photoshop Mix as well as Lightroom Mobile. It could be argued that they're don't exactly mirror their desktop cousins, yes, but they weren't meant to be. They were meant as extensions to the desktop experience.  (e.g., Lightroom Mobile lets one work with the RAW images they have in their Lightroom desktop collections.)
The more powerful Windows tablets can run Photoshop desktop (like Photoshop CC) too.
@bluebocat: Are you looking for text with a perspective? Like it has a vanishing point? As if it was turned in a certain direction in 3D space?

  • Heavy battery drain in iOS7 with iPhone 5

    Hello everyone,
As soon as Apple announced its newer upgrade, iOS 7, i've installed that but i noticed a heavy battery drain in my iphone 5. For example, yesterday night i charged my phone to 100 % and by today's morning it was at 77% ( without any usage). I can see the battery percent decreasing with my eyes. in iOS6, i used to get 24 hours stand by and 7 hours usage in 3g cellular and wifi but in iOS, i didnt even get 3 hours of usage in 3g cellular or wifi.
I got an error after downloading of 753MB of iOS 7 upgrade, i guess it is something like "error in downloading or something" and i discarded that error message and it was asked me to click on "install" option and it was restarted and installed the new OS to my mobile. Everything seems good except battery drain and weather app, which always shows "Haze" even though my city was experiencing thunderstorms. A half sun covered by clouds or ground in the "Now" position. Not even updating.
I tried restarting and resetting the phone with network settings but of no use.
    Any help??
    Thanks

I wouldn't restore at this point.
I would do this:  re-calibrate the battery.
Let the battery drain until the phone is completely dead. (the iPhone powers-itself off!)
plug it in and allow it to charge to 100% [do NOT use it, do NOT unplug it]
This will re-calibrate the charging circuitry with what is reported. It's often likely that the battery report is a false one.
At 100% charge, use the phone normally and watch the performance of the battery.

  • Heavy Battery Drain after updating to 8.1 Lumia Cy...

After updating my Lumia 1520 to 8.1 Cyan update, the battery drain is very high. The battery is lasting only for 6 to 7 hours when the data traffic is on  (under  mixed use of 2G and 3G modes). I have noticed few other users were also experiencing heavy battery drain after the Cyan update.
Will there be an update to fix this battery drain issue?
When the phone was in WP 8 Lumia Black update, battery backup was around 24-30 hrs (when data traffic was on).
What will be the workaround for this?

Yep, my 1520 battery drains like a helicopter that's lost it's rotor after this 8.1 update.
I was just boasting last weekend how awesome the battery life was on this phone, I drove 300mi with the GPS w/navigation, did some tethering to my laptop for work, went overnight..no charging, used lightly all the next day, few pictures, email, browsing, phone calls, and drove 300mi back on GPS/navigation and I still had 38% battery left.
I updated to 8.1 sunday night, and on my normal commute to a customer in another state, which under 8.0 would have drained oh...mabey 4-5%, I was at 62% by the time I got to this customer yesteday.
All I did was make a phone call, that's it. All background stuff is not allowed. location off, cortana off, ...still drains.
Bad bad bad news. I'm not seeing much usefull ness out of 8.1, and considering the battery life and no real new features....just gimmicks if you ask me, I'm not sure I want to stay at 8.1 . I'm trying to give it a chance...battery life is still better than my POS samsung androids I've had in the past, but knowing how good it really can be...and no real features in 8.1 (I was hopeing they'd fix the imap email not allowed to map sent/trash/inbox issue)....eshh...what a mess it seems.

  • MyCloud Android app a battery drainer?

One of the users on my unit (My Cloud 3TB) complained that the app was draining the battery. This user uses the Android platform. After un-installing the app, he says, the battery usage was back to normal...
Since I'm an Apple-user myself, I have no idea if this is a de facto issue with Android users...
Anyone who has any ideas regarding this? As to why this occurs. Or, what could be wrong... I have a hard time believing that the app would recieve naught but bad reviews if this battery drainage was an issue...

I have installed WD MY Cloud Android app on my HTC One M8 and have configured the app so that after taking photos and videos the app is backing up all these files to my WD MyCloud (3TB HDD) when phone is in Wi-Fi zone. Since the very beginning after starting using this app I noticed that during backing up of those photos/videos the app significantly drains the phone's battery. After photos/videos are backed up from phone to WD MyCloud HDD the battery usage is back to normal. I am using "GSam battery monitor app" which shows which app drains the battery. I'm using also Google Photos app which actually does the same - backing up all new photos/videos from phone to Google servers as soon as phone is in Wi-Fi zone but I have never noticed any significant battery drain. Any suggestions regarding battery drain of WD MY Cloud Android app?Has anybody else noticed the same battery drain?

  • IPhone 5s IOS 8.1.1 battery drain using mail

Problem: battery drain is unacceptably high with -1% per five minutes
Description: after upgrading from IOS 7 to 8 the battery drain on my iPhone 5s (32GB) has hugely increased. Several tips on the internet have been tried from turning off several services to reinstalling the IOS none with no improvement. After reinstallation the drain was acceptable only to result in again a -1% drain per five minutes after a week.
Expected: using IOS 7 I could easily use the iPhone throughout the whole day with -1% per fifteen minutes. After installing an improved IOS one would expect similar or lower battery drain
Tests: as said, severals tips found on the internet have been tested none with any improvement. Deleting all accounts under "Settings->Mail, Contacts, Calendars" proved to be the only solution for this problem (a non-functional solution I must add since I'm using this iPhone for communication...). Even keeping the iCloud account but disabling all iCloud services did not improve the situation, only a real account deletion worked.
Question: do you know how to get battery drain back to -1% per fifteen minutes whilst maintaining my iCloud and Exchange account using IOS 8.1.1 on an iPhone 5s (32GB)?
    Kind regards,
    Ronald

Since upgrading my iPhone 6 to iOS 8.1, my battery has not been the same. I was able to get 9-10 hours of usage before and am lucky to get 6-7 hours. AppleCare thought that was on the low side and told me to visit my local Apple Store for a thorough diagnostic testing of the battery. My appointment is tomorrow. Will report back.

  • IOS 8.1.3 - Battery draining very quickly

Since installing iOS 8.1.3 on my iPhone 6 the battery has started to drain very quickly with little to no use. Anybody else having the same problem

I too was having some serious battery drain on IOS 8.1.3 on my iPhone 5S. The phone kept getting warm (like I was using maps navigation) I think I just fixed it.  On the hunch that it had to be something with location services I went to the following location in my phones settings: Settings->Privacy->Location Services now scroll all the way down and Click System Services. Disable Cell Network Search, Setting Time Zone, and Wifi Networking. You can also try disabling these one at a time. I really don't need these services so I disabled them all.
Your phone should now cool down and hold a charge like it did before, mine does. Here are what those settings you are disabling do:
Cell Network Search:This tracks cell tower usage and congestion, and sends the data back to Apple for analysis as to what towers are being used the most, how you move between cell towers, and which ones are overused. It does not help your phone locate a cell tower. Turning this off will not affect your phone’s performance, according to Apple.
Setting Time Zone:Your time zone will be instantly adjusted according to your geographic location. Ever notice how as soon as you turn on your phone after a long flight, it displays the local time perfectly, even before getting cell signal? It’s this setting. If you turn it off, you’ll lose that functionality.
Wi-Fi Networking:This particular setting is interesting, and requires some explanation. As you move around a city, your iPhone is constantly picking up WiFi signals. It geotags that data (“XYZ WiFi is at this GPS location”), encrypts it so that it is anonymous and unique (otherwise the data would look like all hotspots are named “linksys”), and stores it as what Apple calls “crowdsourced Wi-Fi Hotspot locations”. Next time someone walks by that exact hotspot, their iPhone will know where they are without using GPS – because you basically already “marked” the area. Shutting this setting off will stop that info from being sent to Apple. It will not affect your phone’s performance.

  • Possible solution to iOS 7.0.3 battery drain issue (iPhone 5).

Not a question as such, but for anyone who's having battery drain issues on iOS 7.0.3 and doesn't want to attempt upgrade to iOS 7.0.4 revision yet...
I was having some problems with battery drain with my iPhone 5 since updating to 7.0.3. The device is only about 5 weeks old so I was quite annoyed that I had issues with it.
This morning after a full charge I did a hard reset. Now the problem seems to have gone. I've had the phone on for several hours (about 4.5hrs) and it's only just dropped to 99% moments ago. This is a massive improvement (on even the battery life of the device when I got it, and it had 6.1.3 factory installed).
I hope that this helps anyone who doesn't want to risk 7.0.4 until it's had a chance to cool off and for people to identify/resolve any issues (as I am waiting too).

The update isn't the problem. It was a problem with your update process. millions of others have updated without any issue at all.
Also resetting has been discussed many times in the never ending battery draining threads.

  • IOS 4.3.1 battery drain on iPhone

I have been wrestling with trying to find out what is causing my faster than normal battery drain issues since upgrading to 4.3.1 on iPhone. I thought I had it nailed when I discovered Skype was running in background. I have since deleted the Skype app but am still getting faster than normal battery drain. I then began to look at the internal processes running and am now wondering if any of those are the culprit.
How do you know what the process is used for and if it is needed? And then how to kill it?
Thanks and I look forward to your reply.
    ...Bruce

Well I'm still testing, but so far still looks crap to me.
It seems the opening animation is still horrible, but on most apps the second time you open an app (if it is already loaded) its smooth. This tells me when you first hit an app that it's loading is interfering with the animation. (never did this before 4.3)
The ipod app is still glitchy animation wise, and settings still has a second or so pause before appearing.
The camera app openeing speed seems to have improved a little though, but the double tap to reveal background tasks is totally inconsistant. (pause before doing anything, then glitchy crappy animation on screen move up).
Ultimately, I think that this is just a case of apple dumping the 3gs, and 'pushing' people to get a more powerful iphone (4 or even 5 later this year). The update doesn't even mention 3gs stability in the release notes, so Apple either basically have their head in the sand, or as I expect, just don't give a crap.
Will test some more, but this isn't looking good.

  • Iphone 6, iOS 8.0.2, battery drain & overheating

So I upgraded to an iphone 6 from an iphone 5. The phone came with iOS 8.0.2. It seems that I am not the only one with this issue but my my phone gets hot after a short use and battery drains rather quickly. It seems to be a software issue since many people are exhibiting the same symptoms. My battery usage shows that the Home & Lock Screen ate up 26% of the battery and my settings ate up 22%. That seems a tad high. Battery is at 84% after 56 min usage and 4 hr 14 min at standby. Note this is on the initial charge after transferring my data from the iphone 5 to the iphone 6. Battery has not fully drained yet. What do you guys suggest? Thanks.

I have a similar problem on my 5s. Since updating it has stopped allowing me to send texts to my wive, but will accept them and allows calls.
I must add that I can text her when on wifi, and also from my mac, but when on 4g?
    Any ideas?

  • IPhone 4s with iOS 7.0.2 Battery Drains FAST!

My iPhone 4s with iOS 7.0.2 the battery drains tremendously fast! This morning it was 100% charged then just by surfing facebook and flipboard with 3G, it became 7% in the noon. I hope Apple can solve this problem! I'm very upset right now

I've pretty much proved to myself that this is a bug in 7.0.2.  Since my post a few days ago I have:
Done a full restore of my iPhone with 7.0.2 - problem still persisted - draining battery at approx 23%/hour with no use, and with all the battery saving tips applied (no push notifications, no background updating etc).
Restored iPhone with 7.0 - battery drain dropped to approx 5%/hour with no use and battery saving tips applied.  With push notifications & background updating turned back on, battery drain increased to approx 12%/hour which is high, but still significantly better than 7.0.2.
I would recomend everyone who is having this problem with 7.0.2 to lodge a bug report with Apple - www.apple.com/feedback - hopefully if enough of us lodge the bug report, Apple will listen and release an update.
As for downgrading, unfortunately we cannot downgrade to 6.x anymore, but you can downgrade to 7.0.  It is a matter of downloading the appropriate firmware. Firmware's are available here - http://www.icj.me/ios - although that site lists 6.x, they will no longer work, so get the 7.0. That site redirects you to Apple's server for the appropriate ROM, so they are legitimate. Before you install it, you have to turn "Find My iPhone" off by going to Settings | Privacy | Location Services | Find iPhone.  The installation seems to turn it back on when done, but you should probably check.  Once the firmware has downloaded, you can install it on your device by going to iTunes, and holding down the option key while clicking Restore.  This is on Mac - on Windows I assume you would press Alt (but if that doesn't work, try Ctl or Shift).  If you have pressed the right button on your keyboard, a file browser window will appear, allowing you to choose the firmware that you just downloaded.
Once installation is complete, iTunes will tell you that there is an update available for your iPhone, just click "Later" everytime the warning appears.

  • Heavy battery drain after OS Update 10.3.1.1779

couple of days ago my phone (Z10) upgraded to new software version 10.3.1.1779. Now the battery barely lasts four to five hours. Usually not more than four. Is this a f****ng joke, Blackberry?!  I checked and I constantly have PIM services at 30-40 %, which is the main battery drainer. Following the suggestions on some of the forums I tried deleting accounts and found one that - being deleted - solves the problem. However, when I add it again it drains the battery again. The point is that i MUST have it on. this is mail only, no calendars, contacts. When I add it I left the phone overnight to download all it needed, 12 hours later PIM services still run at 30-40% all the time. Reloading the software does not help either.  pls help, I am running out the ideas... I can't keep my phone connected to charger at all times...

After any OS upgrade on a BB10 device, it will take 48-72 hours for the device data syncing of email, contacts, social apps, etc., to complete and finish. High data transfer after an upgrade cause high processor use, which in turn causes high battery usage. Likewise, high processor use will cause some lag and initial slowness. Ignore and and be patient. It can take the 48 hours for all contacts to sync back to the device. And, the battery will recover after a few days. Just don't drain your battery to 10% or less each time, top off the charge. You'll notice a difference after a couple days. Additionally, look at your Device Manager and in the top pull down menu tap LAST 24 HOURSTap the Battery tab at bottom. What are the top 3-4 processes draining the battery?Tap the CPU tab, what are the top 3-4 processes using the CPU?
