All iWeb files have turned red

I have just made a small page to my site and attempted to load it to MM. It was taking a very long time, so I quit and opened iWeb again to load the page from fresh (this usually speeds up a slow load) only to find that every one of my files has suddenly turned red, which means that I have to load the whole lot - an even slower process, if it works (it doesn't always, I find).
Any idea why the files should go red, and has this happened to anyone else?

This seems to be "normal" behavior for '09 but not '08.
Because you quit during an upload, all the pages have not been transfered so iWeb is "seeing" them all as being new.
You'll just have to try to get them all to upload and then see if it will go back to "normal" behavior.

  • Files have turned red

I've just upgraded to 09 and every page on iWeb has turned red, on both of my computers. I have tried uploading twice to MobileMe. Both times, after an hour or more, I'm told that the site can't be uploaded at this time.
Has this happened to others, I wonder? And does anyone have a solution please?

None of the suggestions offered here, while definitely worth trying, have helped me. Installing & launching iWeb 3/'09 instantly caused all pages and sites to go red, forcing me to re-publish everything.
Why a version upgrade would force a complete republishing of one's entire site seems odd, but the bigger problem for me is that MobileMe seems to refuse to take the re-pub attempt, failing with a different error message regarding a different file every time since Tuesday evening. Not a single one of these files, nor the site in general, gave me any problems under iWeb 2/'08 or prior to Tuesday evening.
The net effect is that my site has been dead for three days, and some part of this equation -- either MobileMe or iWeb 3/'09 -- is rendering it impossible for me to resurrect it.
I did get a small, 1-page, new site to publish last night, but the prospect of having to break down a previously trouble-free blog into tiny, bite-sized chunks is ridiculous. This is not a huge Domain file we're talking about, and no single file is over 2.4MB (an MP3).
I would welcome any suggestions that go beyond basic troubleshooting and address the real, persistent problems that many people here are seeing with iWeb 3/'09 and MobileMe since upgrading.

  • Images in my fla. have turned red

hi - i've just opened my fla file and most of the images have turned red. Any ideas?
    Cheers

Yes, Ned is correct. The original link to the image has been deleted.
@ Stubbed Toe, which version of Flash were you running? Did you rename the image, move folder with image inside, or rename folder?

You can undo the RAW Compatibilty Update 4.08 without a time machine backup!
In Finder go to MacIntosh HD > Systems > Library > Core Services
In that folder delete the following:
    RawCamera.bundle
    RawCameraSupport.Bundle
Then download Digital Camera RAW Compatibility Update 4.07 from the Apple suport pages.  Here's the direct link:
    http://support.apple.com/kb/DL1666
The app store will then be telling you another update is available, meaning 4.08 which screwed us up in the frst place!  Simply ignore the 4.08 update!  Unless you are using one of the cameras listed as being added by 4.08:
         Canon EOS 70D
         Fujifilm X-M1
         Leica M
         Leica M Monochrom
         Nikon COOLPIX P330
         Pentax 645D
         Sony Cyber-shot DSC-RX1R
         Sony Cyber-shot DSC-RX100 II
By the way, I take no credit for this "solution" - I picked it up in another discussion thread on this subject.
However, I have been in voice contact with a Senior Support Specialist at Apple Care.  The problem with Update 4.08 removing compatibilty for previously supported Nikon (and possibly other) files has been flagged to Apple's engineering.

  • After I connected my hard disk to a friend's windows system all my files have been converted to .ink files and do not open....what do i do? They had important content

after connecting my hard disk to a windows laptop all my files have somehow converted to .ink files and are not accessible.....what do i do?

What do you mean by "all files", surely only one category of files got their default open program changed.
Choose the affected files, right click on an individual file, and "open with",...change to default program.
For a group, right click > show info > open with > change ALL
If more than one group of files has had its default opening program changed, a time machine roll-back would be the easy option. Do you have a TM backup?

We have a newish apple mac and this morning all our files have vanished - all photo's, vidoes, music etc.  How can we get it back?  Thanks

First of all, look in the garbage. It's easy to move a folder there without knowing it.
Second, do a Spotlight Search (Cmd-Space), and search for a file you know should be there. If you find the file, there's a good chance that the other files you're looking for are there, too.
If you're in kind of a crisis mode, coming up with pat advice probably isn't a good policy - but I suggest investing in a backup drive in case anything goes wrong. A program like Time Machine can be a life saver.
    Post with your results!

  • All my raw photos turn red.

Yesterday, all my raw photos turn red, first in aperture and then also in the preview.
The first photo was converted whith Nikon software (View NX2) the second whith preview, I get the same problem whith Aperture and iPhoto.
This photo is from 2011 and it was fine until yesterday.

The 4.08 Raw Camera bundle update that was released a few days ago is causing problems for Nikon users. Until Apple issues an update to fix this roll back to 4.07
Search here for many posts describing this and how to roll back.

  • HELP I seem to have lost all my files after turning on Filevault

    Hey all,
im completly new to all things Mac, everything has been great so far but now i seem to have lost everything.
I turned on Filevault protection then shutdown my Macbook, came back to it a couple of hours later and now all of my files, itunes music files have gone, all of the settings and preferences seem to be back to the factory settings, and well everything has dissapeared?!! any help would be greatly appreciated.
    Many thanks.

I have no idea how Apple would handle this. I would hope they would tell you to go into an Apple store and have someone there look at it and fix it. That would be very good advice. Trying to fix a problem like this over the phone would be really hard.
Clearly, your system is no longer mounting your sparseimage file the way it should. The good part of this is that your files are still relatively safe inside that sparseimage. I would not try to turn filevault on or off again. That could be dangerous. Your goal now is backup.
In the terminal, you can type "open /Users/.stuartcampbell/stuartcampbell.sparseimage" to mount that disk image as a new volume. Hopefully, you can log in as "stuart campbell" and do this. That would be really good. If you can, log in as "stuart campbell", open that disk image, and copy all the files you find into a new folder named "saved files" under the "/Users/Shared" folder. You want to get your files out of that sparseimage and into the real file system.
Once you get your files out, you can try to turn filevault off again. My hunch is that FileVault is already off. I think your system has created a new home directory for you named "stuart campbell1" because the old one was corrupted. If this is so, you can safely copy all your files from the sparse image into this new account, overwriting anything you already have. (Just make real sure that your current home directory really is just blank data!!!). At this point, you should be running again, with your home directory being named "stuart campbell1".
If all this is true, try the following. Rename that old "/Users/stuart campbell" folder to /Users/stuart campbell.old". You can run NetInfo, go into "Users", and change your home directory back to "stuart campbell". Then, before doing anything else, rename "stuart campbell1" back to "stuart campbell". Save your NetInfo changes, quit, logout, cross your fingers, and log back in.
I realize this is very complicated and more than you really want to do. I don't see any way around it. It is very difficult to know exactly what state your system is in and exactly what is going to work and what won't. A trip to the Apple Store or a similar place might be a good idea. I say might because there is no guarantee they can fix it either. There are still way too many steps that say "If this works" and "try this".
There are some key things to remember and do in any case. Try to open that disk image and get your files out.
Don't fiddle with any account security settings until your files are out of there.
Once your data is secure (or rather - in a safe place), you can feel free to fiddle with account settings and swap out those directories to get back to a good state. I can assure you that it will take a bit of fiddling and may not work at all. Just get your files out there and we can get you up to speed again after that.

  • All iWeb files gone

All my files suddenly disappeared. No domains in Applications Support.
No iDisk anywhere. (The site is published with baremetal.com)
I have the files in a folder on my desktop, but HOW do I get them back
    into the iWeb application?

Welcome to the Apple Discussions. Do you have backup of the domain file? If not then, as Ethmoid pointed out, you'll have to rebuild from scratch. Paragraph 2.3 on this iWeb FAQ site has some tips that may make that process a little easier: http://iwebfaq.org/site/iWebBackupretrieve.html
In the future consider a backup strategy that will include the domain files. I've created an Automator workflow that will copy the Application Support/iWeb folder to the Documents folder. You can download it from Toad's Cellar. I suggest you consider getting an external FW hard drive so you can backup your boot drive to it on a regular basis.

  • Condition Indicator Inconsistent Error Message --- But All Book Files Have Same Settings!

Help! I have used the same FrameMaker files for over 2 years in a book and all files have conditional text (CT) tags applied. I added a new one today and now every time I update the book, a Book Error Report says that a condition indicator for one of my older tags (not the new one) is inconsistent --- but what is strange is, I checked the CT tags in each file in the book, and they ALL have the same exact settings, which are "Show All" and "Show Condition Indicators." Can someone help? I have saved the file as an MIF, turned the indicators off and then on, and still cannot get this fixed --- any help from anyone would be very much appreciated. Thank you.

    Add'l Info & Correction:
This happened after a Windows Svc Pack 3.0 was auto-downloaded on my machine on the 8th---IT uninstalled the 3.0, but it may have corrupted my FM files...does anyone have any info on this? I have a backup from the day before, but I have down a lot of work to the file since and would hate to loose all the work. If someone could help me get the file back up to par, that would be SO wonderful! Thanks

  • All my files have disappeared!

    Hi!
So the situation is pretty simple. Just really bizarre.
I was using my iMac for a few hours then started doing something else nearby for a an hour or two then when I got back to my mac I noticed there wasn't anything on my desktop anymore. Nor in my documents. Or photos folder. Or videos folder.
(like literally no files at all, when I go to All My Files, nothing comes up. That's how much there is nothing on my mac right now.
The system preferences are all still there. And all my applications.
    So I rebooted.
On reboot I was asked to sign into my apple ID. It was exactly the same screen as when you setup a new mac. With the little mac screen that appears and then the ticks and then it says "ready to use your mac" or something like that.
Then once I was logged in the dock was reset to default and there still isn't anything on my desktop, documents, photos or videos folders.
    Apps stills there though.
What on earth is going on?
    What I've done so far:
-Checked that I've logged in as myself (admin): And I have.
-Checked space: Looks like all my space has returned...which is worrying I guess.
-Checked the other users: there are no other users. Just Guest User.
I was in near my mac at the time, but wasn't using it.
    Thanks in advance,
    Arnaud

No. I have only ever had my user (admin).
I have Find My Mac and iCloud. But I haven't logged into it for a very long time.
Also, when you remote erase, can you select parts of you drive? Because not everything has gone.
I always though remote erasing cleaned the entire drive.
Applications are still there. And the library and system folders seem to be untouched.

  • All new files have 644 (group read only) permissions!?

Why do all new files created through AFP have rw-r--r-- (644) permissions? I haven't figured out any way to change it so the group can read and write the new files, without manually chmoding them to something useful.
OS X Server 10.3 and 10.4 didn't have this problem, nor did any other server OS I've ever used. Is this a feature? Is there something obvious I'm missing!?
The server sure doesn't seem very useful when only the person who created the file can edit it...seems to defeat the purpose of a file server, no?
    Please help!

Are you using ACLs on that volume so files can inherit priviledges from the folder you put them in?
In Tiger you could choose betwen using POSIX inherited priviledges and ACLs.
In Leopard ACLs are on by default but you have to set/enforce them in Server Admin.
But I hav to admit I'm a bit bewildered about "inherit" setting in Leopard Server Admin.

  • How do I resolve inconsistent color definition message even if all my files have the same definition

All of the files in my book have the same exact color definiti
ons: New Color1. Yet I keep getting the inconsistent color definition messag
es every time I go to print or regenerate my toc. I still get results but It's annoying!

Does EACH document have the SAME definition of NewColor1? Having the same name does not imply that they are the same definition.
Try opening the first document in the book. Then select all the documents in the book file and import the color definitions from the opened file. This will make all the documents have the same definitions as in the first document.
