All Lightroom 5 presets are set to zero

I have been using Burn and Dodge with the gradient tool and brush tool, making some adjustments. If I deviate the settings from default, it used to just say "modified". I never saved these settings, I always would re-select the defaults from the menus.
Suddenly today I realize that several adjustments have the exposure set to zero.
Burn, Dodge, Dodge+,++,+++ etc.
What happened? Resetting presets in the palette menu and in preferences had no effect.

Would have been easier if you did this before creating the slides (Preferences, Defaults).
For existing slides:
Activate filmstrip
Use CTRL-A to select all slides
In Properties Panel change time to 5 secs

My lightroom basic settings are set, and not zero'd out. How do I fix it

When I import photos, some of my sliders are already set. I want them in the middle so I can adjust. Specifically shadows and highlights are set to extremes. How do I correct this?

Reset the page zoom on pages that cause problems: View > Zoom > Reset (Ctrl+0 (zero); Cmd+0 on Mac)

How to determine where Lightroom Settings (Presets) are stored

I have been running LR with a catalog and images that are on an external disc. I have several presets for use in import, develop, export, etc. Everything has been working fine until I recently was playing with the Print module. After doing that, the next (I think) time I opened my catalog, I discovered that all my presets had disappeared. When I examined the folder on the external disc that contains the catalog, presets, etc., I discovered a new folder, "Lightroom Settings". It contained empty folders for Import Presets, Keyword Sets, Filename Presets, etc. -- everything except the folder for Print Presets. This, obviously, is the cause of my missing presets, but why did it happen?
I'd like to know the "algorithm" for LR's storage of presets -- system level, user level, catalog level, whatever. It would seem to me that if it is adding catalog level presets, then it would either copy the existing set of user presets to the catalog or (probably better), not create empty catalog-level preset folders and use the user-level presets where there are none at catalog level. Is there someplace that this process is explained?

That change needs to be made to the CSS file that is on the web server.
So if you use a CSS file or have the CSS code in the main HTML file then add font-stretch: condensed; to all CSS rules that have a ''font-family: "Arial Narrow";''
If you do not have access to the page code and can't modify it then there is not much that you can do.

I run firefox on three computers and on this one my website font is not correct. All of my boxes are set up the same. Please advise.

As I mentioned above I have three pc's all running win7 and firefox 6.02. On this box website fonts are different than the others. All of the "option" settings are identical on all of the boxes. Including "allow pages to choose their own fonts". I uninstalled 6.02 and installed 5.0 but there was no difference. So I reset to 6.02.
The pages look fine in IE.
Please advise.

When I tap my mail, I don't see anything even though all my mail accounts are set up properly, My mail is blank how can I re set it?

After I shut down my mail yesterday, when I tap back on, it is completely blank, nothing. I have check all my e mail accounts and they are all up and running properly, they are installed properly in settings and my wifi is working fine. But there is nothing in my mail. I have updated my I pad on I tunes but that did nothing. Anyone have any idea what I could do? My carrier is Bell 3G, but that appears to work too. Safari works fine.

Have you tried deleting the accounts and re-creating them?

Opening a site from Bookmark Toolbar in a new tab steals focus eventhough all new tab behaviors are set to not steal focus.

When I open a site from my [Bookmarks Toolbar] (feeds) in a new tab, the site is opened in a new tab and FF switches to it.
I have already unchecked [Options]~>[Tabs]~>["When I open a link in a new tab, switch to it immediately."].
I have also set [browser.tabs.loadBookmarksInBackground] to true.
The bookmarks/feeds open new tabs in the background properly, but opening the site from the bookmark toolbar does not.
Is this a bug? Is there a setting I am missing to fix this?

{Mouseover} [xkcd.com] (expand feed folder)
{Middle Click} [Open "xkcd.com"] (at top of list of feed links)
xkcd.com site now opens in a new tab and FF switches to it.
I want the site to open the in a new tab in the background like the feed links already do with my settings.

Works for me if I middle-click a bookmark on the Bookmarks Toolbar and browser.tabs.loadBookmarksInBackground is set to true.
Start Firefox in [[Safe Mode|Safe Mode]] to check if one of the extensions or if hardware acceleration is causing the problem (switch to the DEFAULT theme: Firefox/Tools > Add-ons > Appearance/Themes).

Mail being deleted when preferences are set otherwise

Hi, I run a late-2013 27-inch iMac with with OSX10.9.3. Although all my Mail preferences are set to 'never delete', periodically my entire Inbox and Sent folders get completely emptied out, every email deleted. The many emails I have in folders are untouched. I need to refer often to my sent mail and this is causing large problems as you'd imagine - as is losing my Inbox contents before I've dealt with them all. Anyone else experiencing this? Know how to avoid it? Thanks!

Yes, good question. I have several gmail accounts for my business (accounts, enquiries, mine etc). I'm not at all technically-minded when it comes to Mail accounts, if it helps with the diagnosis my incoming mail server is imap.gmail.com

Apple presets are duplicated on every program launch

Hi, I am running compressor 3.5.3 and every time I launch the program all the Apple presets are duplicated in my custom presets folder. I delete these every time but on the next launch, they are back. Any fixes out there?

You mean the folders located at: User Name/Library/Application Support/Compressor?
They are supposed to be there. A fix is not neccessary.
In any case, those items are "Aliases" not the originals, which are contained within the Compressor application bundle. Aliases only take 4kb of space each on your hard drive.

Default Presets are missing in Lightroom 5

I accidentally deleted all my presets in Lightroom 5. Try to uninstall and install the application again but the presets are still not there.
What should I do to bring all the presets back? Currently, I can't even add in more presets. HELP!!

Ensuring that all Lightroom files are backed up

I'm currently dealing with a few issues with my PC, and it may be that I'll need to have it repaired, which might mean that I'll need to re-install applications such as LR once it's been fixed. I therefore want to ensure that all of my files are protected.
I currently have a solid system for backing up my photo files, so there are no problems there, and I also make regular backups of the catalogue to a seperate drive, so again I have no concerns with losing the catalogue itself. I also keep a backup of the preferences file, just in case I need to trash the one in use so I can then easily recover by replacing it with my copy. The one missing link is that I don't really make any backups of the various presets (having said this, Windows does back them up on a monthly basis).
I figure that, if I need to do a clean re-install, I can drop my prefs file into the relevant folder, overwriting the current one, and that I would just need to have a copy of the presets folder and do the same thing with that... Is my thinking correct here?
When I say presets, I don't just means ones in Develop, I mean things like settings for print templates, export presets, etc. I really don't want to risk losing these and having to set them all up again from scratch.
Any advice would be much appreciated.

Yes, the LR user presets of all kinds are stored under the same single location, which can be bodily backed up and later restored. This may include some items belonging to other Adobe applications. The standard factory set of Develop and Export profiles etc, should as far as I know be taken care of by the LR software installation.
I'd also mention any camera calibration profiles you may have downloaded / tweaked / generated yourself; also any lens profiles you have downloaded / tweaked / generated, which live in a different place (similarly shared across LR and ACR if that is present). Also the associated graphic files of any watermarks, layout overlays etc; and any printer etc output profiles you have collected and loaded into your operating system.
Printer drivers often provide a way to save named settings internally, which may represent a lot of invested time and experiment; it is probably worth grabbing those too.

I think it means "the sliders are all 0 so painting adjustments with this brush won't change anything." In other words, move one of the sliders to a non-zero position, for example Exposure from 0 to 1.0, and then see what happens. You can edit the brush and change it to do something other than Exposure +1.

Presets are missing since upgrading to Lightroom 5

Since upgrading to Lightroom 5 a number of Adobe Presets I purchased are no longer available. All of my HDR, Tilt Shift, Dragon as well as other presets are not available within the appliction even though they are still in the Preset folder.
How do I get these back?

2. delete it (or perhaps safer - rename it).
3. open Lightroom.
