All mailboxes offline after idle time (with network trace info)

When I return to my computer after some time away—enough time that it has presumably been asleep—all my email accounts are offline. Clicking the triangle-bang icon and "Take all accounts online" does nothing.
Opening connection doctor, all the outgoing servers (SMTP) are green. All the incoming servers (IMAP, including both gmail and iCloud) are red.
Every account is configured to use IMAP/SSL on port 993 for incoming Mail. I can telnet to imap.gmail.com on port 993 and get a connection.
As root in a Terminal window, I set up a tcpdump packet capture on the correct interface for all traffic to or from TCP port 993, then I click "Check Again" in the connection doctor. No packets are sent to any IMAP server, with one exception: the (non-google, non-apple) account that is configured as "deactivated" is tested.
I started a new tcpdump, this time capture packets with "dst net 74", that being the network the gmail servers are on. Clicking "Check Again" again, again nothing. I am not looking at the wrong network interface. There are not existing connections to port 993 in "netstat -anf inet." My subnet does not support IPv6, and the Mac has only the link-local IPv6 address configured.
And always, quitting Mail and starting it again brings the accounts back online, and their TCP traffic on port 993 is visible with tcpdump.

More information: When all the mailboxes go offline, there's data on the read queue of several of the TCP sockets. It stays there indefinitely, not read by the threads that have the sockets open.

  • Is it possible to end a program with frontend after idle time?

    Hi guru's,
Our users are using TMW (trx PTMW) on a regular basis for entering time data.  It would be real nice to encourage them to close their TMW screens when they have done.
It would be real nice if the TMW gui (or any other program they leave idle) would get cancelled after X minutes of idle time.  Any pending non saved changes may get lost.
I' ve looked at the rdisp/gui_auto_logout parameter.  But this cancels the whole session and so they need to log on again.  We'd just like it if they return to their easy access startmenu.
Any suggestions how to do this? (a system parameter? repair of TMW? job that ends idle gui's?)  I'll reward any usefull suggestion
    Kr,
    Jonathan

If you want your LabVIEW program from Windows to run on Linux, you need to compile it first with a LabVIEW for Linux version. Be aware that path management is slightly different under Linux. So your Windows application won't run under Linux if you don't prepare for it.
If you want a LabVIEW / Windows application to interface with LabVIEW / Linux, you can do this with TCP/IP functions, or perhaps even with global variables (not sure if they work under Linux).
Can't help you with the second question(s). I'd be worried about getting any camera working under Linux and LabVIEW, but I'm not sure if this is a valid concern.

    Wiebe.

  • Apple mail -- all accounts offline after sleep

I am having a problem with the mail app on a late 2010 MacBook Air. Specifically, all accounts are offline after resuming from sleep.
I am running apple mail (7.3),  and OS X 10.9.3.  Once the network reconnects, only the mail app remains a problem.
The problem seems to have coincided with EITHER (or both) my having messed around with the DNS configuration in order to try an app called Blockless and/or having upgraded to OS X 10.9.3.  I have four mail accounts, all but one of which are Gmail IMAP accounts (the 4th runs from Bluehost mail, and is also an IMAP account).  I currently have the DNS set at the default number, but might try going back to 8.8.8.8.  Mail works fine on my several iOS devices.

At least for the time being, I may have resolved this by using Google's public DNS (8.8.8.8 and 8.8.4.4)

  • WLS 8.1 SP5 Message bridge doesn't refresh connection after idle time out

    Hi,
I am seeing in the log after enabling the debug flags that message bridge intermittently stops refreshing the connection without logging further info and causing a production failure.Bridge is forwarding the message from WLS 8.1..5 DQ to the remote MQ 6.0 queue.
Below is the snippet which doesn't come in the log which suggests that bridge stops refreshing the connection.
<BEA-200027> <Bridge "CASLDNSenderBridge" works in asynchronous mode and has not received messages for the predefined maximum idle time. The connections to the adapters will be interrupted and reestablished.>
The above message does appear everytime but intermittently it stops and the messages put after this leading to the exceptions. The bridge has been configured in asynchronous mode and the idle time out is configured as 60 secs.
Can somebody please let me know if there is any known issue with 8.1 SP5 where message bridge stops refreshing connection intermittently or how to debug this further.

I would normally suggest raising the issue with support, but I recall hearing that 8.1 is nearing the end of its support cycle, so I'm not sure that's an option for you. Other options:
    - try upgrading to a newer SP, or better yet, a new version of WebLogic
    - try changing to synchronous forwarding
    - examine thread dumps from when the bridge appears to be stalled
    - post the exception that bridge is throwing when it tries to connect
    - try patching MQ (the problem could be on the MQ side, and perhaps an older version of the bridge may not be fully capable of handling all of MQs minor quirks)
    - write a program to (A) detect inactivity on the src destination, and (B) somehow restart the bridge and/or all of WL when this occurs

  • Authorization error in Repository after idle time

    Hi all,
I have a problem in ESR where after some idle time I suddenly loose all my authorizations to perform any actions in Repository (sometimes also Directory). I'm even denied the authorization to close objects or the entire ESR altogether.
This happens after I have worked on an object, then leave it for some time (I have yet to find out the exact time). Then when I try to continue working on the object, a window pops up saying "User has no authorization".
Note that I have all necessary roles, and I can perform all the actions when I force-shut the ESR (by killing the ESR-process on OS-level) and log on again. However the objects are locked and I need to remove the lock from the Integration Builder Administration page in order to change the object. This is very annoying!
I have checked the Default Trace when this happens and found that the userID with which I am logged on has for some reason changed to J2EE_GUEST! I am guessing this is the reason I am not allowed to work on the object anymore, as J2EE_GUEST does not have the appropriate authorizations.
The Default Trace shows the following (my real user ID is in this system ERIKEN):

Kernel panics are caused by defective hardware or software. Norton is in the latter category.

  • Ending a user transaction after idle time

    Hi guru's,
We have a customer transaction used by a lot of endusers that may block some pernrs.
I'd really like to end the transaction after say like 5 minutes of idle time so the pernrs are no longer blocked by a certain enduser.
Using the time out of the system so the enduser loses his session or messing with the en- or dequeue commands is not an option.
Any ideas or approaches?  Useful responses will be rewarded
    Kind regards,
    Jonathan

    hi Jonathan,
I have a report that loops at pernr (get pernr).
after start of selection, but before get pernr, I have:
time = sy-uzeit. **start time of the program
right before end-of-selection (the end of the pernr loop) i have
    time2 = sy-uzeit.
    then:
    if time2 - time1 > 300.***(Seconds)
***if the prgram has been running longer than 5 mins, exit
    write: / 'time exceeded'.
    exit.
    endif.
    hope this helps.

  • Jdbc connection lost after idle time

    Dear users,
i'm using the oracle 10g database. Now i found out that several programs (SQuirreL, QuantumDB,...) which use the ojdbc14 driver are losing connection to the database after about one hour idle time, but it is not set in db configuration to disconnect (eg parameter idle_time is not set). What could be the cause of this? Is this a error of jdbc (the java exception is something like socket lost) or is it a missconfiguration of the db?
    Thx for help.

With a simple java program that makes a select on a database table over jdbc after one Hour idle_time this exception happens: (the program is started local on the database server so no firewall or router is between)

  • How to update all condition records at a time with some percentage or some

    Dear Sir,
In PRD system we have more than 600 condtion records.
Noe desiel hikes happend, due to that client want to update all condition records(600) at a time with required percentage or required value.
How to update all records at a time
    With regards
    Lakshmikanth

    Hi,
Through BDC or LSMW first you have to do the recording for particular transaction code and then base on that u have to prepare the flat file to upload the file for the same.
For BDC programing you have to take the help of ABAP progmer but LSMW you can also do.
For more information about LSMW plz go to following link :
    [LSMW |http://www.slideshare.net/arun_bala1/sap-sd-lsmw-legacy-system-migration-workbench/]

    [BDC Recording|http://www.sapdevelopment.co.uk/bdc/bdc_recording.htm]
But it would be better for you to please contact to your ABAPer for BDC programming.

  • Unable to access certain web servers after creating time capsule network

Since creating a home network with Time Capsule, there are certain web sites or servers that I am unable to connect to. The browser attempts to connect, but always gets timed out.
One site, for example is a link from my fantasy football homepage: football30.myfantasyleague.com
I have no trouble with any other site, and am able to get to the address above if I connect my Mac directly with the Cable Modem, thus bypassing the time capsule network. Also, if I use my old wireless router, I am able to access the address without problem. I am also able to ping the address on my time capsule network,
I've tried accessing this site on multiple computers (both mac and pc) through my home network and using multiple browsers (Firefox, Safari, and IE). So the problem must lie with some time capsule setting (some kind of default firewall). However, I cannot find any setting on Time Capsule or Airport utilities where I could make any adjustments or view any prohibited site access.
Does anybody know why this particular site is constantly blocked when I use the Time Capsule as my router?

    hamish,
    Welcome to the Apple Discussion!
I'm wondering if either or both Airport Utility & Network Prefs have proper DNS server settings. Try this
    Launch Airport Utility.
    Select TC on left.
    Click "Manual Setup".
Select "Internet" from the toolbar above.
    What's listed for "DNS Server(s):"?
Try putting in these servers from OpenDNS [http://www.opendns.com>
    208.67.222.222
    208.67.220.220
    Click "Update".
Your TC will restart with the new settings.
Next, launch System Prefs --> Network Prefs.
Select the service you usually connect with on the left (Airport or Ethernet).
    Then click, "Advance..."
    Click the "DNS" tab.
    What's listed for "DNS Server(s):"?
Usually "10.0.1.1" will be listed first in gray. This refers back to the settings in the Airport Utility.
Nevertheless, it doesn't hurt to add the DNS servers noted above here as well.
    Click "OK" then click "Apply".
Now see if you can access those websites again.
    Cheers!

I have the same artist listed 4 times on my ipod with the exact same information under each listing. I deleted all the songs from itunes, synced my ipod, reloaded them, and synced again... and again got the same artist listed 4 times with the exact same menu under each listing. It all appears correctly in itunes. Anyone help me?

    Hi DavidTPerrett!
I have an article for you that will help you troubleshoot this issue:

  • Deleting all print jobs on a computer with network accounts

In a school environment, we are using a network server with individual student accounts. Is there a way to delete all print jobs for all users on a given computer? I can reset print system and it only clears the print jobs for that single user.

System Preferences > Printers & Scanners > Print
    Click: Open Print Queue
You should be able to delete print jobs from there.

  • Transient VO rows becoming empty after idle time

    Hi,
    We are using Jdev 11.1.1.6
Using transient vo to show list of corousal items. We create transient vo rows on load of the taskflow.
"Our QA observed, empty rows (no rows) in the carousal after 25 mts of interval. The VO rows are becoming empty"
I have verified View Object tuning settings:
    a) Checked to true - Passivate State including all transient variables
    b) Vo rows have a primary key attribute and is never a null value.
Am I missing anything? Any little hints appreciated.
    Thanks,
    Srini.

Have you tested your app with application module pooling turned off?
The problem might be activaton/passivation of am.
See if you can reproduce the problem this way. I guess that when a vo gets passivated only the qeurry gets saved. When activated yhr saved query is executed again. As you use transient rows, they come back empty.
