All mirrors commented after -Syu update

Hi!
I don't know if this is a listed bug, or this has to be so, but: When installing arch 2009.02, I checked mirrorlist file and all mirrors were uncommented, also I changed eth0 to DHCP. The first thing I did on my fresh install, was pacman -Syu update. Update was succesful, but after all mirrorlist lines were comented!
Of course, I found this when I got
error: failed to synchronize any databases.
Is this normal, or some kind of bug?

As mentioned, it's to help avoid any one mirror (ie, the default, whoever ends up at the top of the list) becoming excessively loaded due to users not selecting the right mirror for them. Until recently, that was an Australian mirror I believe, which was great for Australian users, but not so good for people outside Australia, nor the mirror in question which copped all the extra traffic from users too lazy to change their config.

Firefox has been crashing all the time after I updated to the newest version. I tried to uninstalled firefox and all addons. Restarted the computer to reinstall Firefox and it's still crashing all the time. Please help.

Did you transfer your purchases to computer iTunes?
If so, you can sync them from there.

All info gone after software update, how can i get it back?

New G3, notified me I needed to sync w/itunes to get the new update. After syncing, and various problems and errors, it said i needed to restore my iphone... everything would be wiped clean +but i could get it back+ after the update was complete. Update is complete, where is the option to put all of my stuff back on my phone? My contacts, my appointments, my alarms, my life... aargh!

Turns out those error messages it gave me were because it didn't sync properly and create a backup. Which is why when I restored from backup it didn't reload my old info. Instead of assuring me that I would have the option to restore my info, it would have been nice had it told me that a backup hadn't been completed and that restoring my phone without it would leave me with nothing.
Tech support had me use my old SIM card to import my old contacts. This worked, but I've entered contacts since getting the new phone that aren't on my old SIM. And doing so left me with a bunch of re-organizing to do (deleting, combining, entering First and Last name fields...) it took me several hours.
I didn't get my appointments back, cause my old phone was just a phone, and that info wasn't on the old SIM, but I'm REALLY glad I got my contacts.

Lost all my mails after un update

I just come back from my holidays and run the software update.
After a reboot i launch MAIL, he says me "i will migrate your mails it will takes some minutes" (i translate as i can, i am french). It takes almost 3 seconds and mail open like it was out of box : empty
Is there a way to retrieve my mails???

I had the same problem. I followed V.K.'s advice, even though i had not read it, and looked for the files in my library/mail folder.
When I started mail after the update, it automatically set up one of my accounts, and then I manually set up the others. When I went to that folder, there were doubles of the accounts that I had set up with slightly different names - the new ones containing mail that I had revieved this afternoon, and the old ones containing the old messages.
I closed mail, copied the messages from the old inbox to the new inbox for both accounts, deleted the envelop index, and restarted.
The problem is fixed!

TS4085 After updating my iPhone 4s and my iPad 2 to iOS 5.1 I can no longer use the mirroring or AirPlay features with my Apple TV. Before the update it worked fine on all devices. After the update the AirPlay or mirroring icon no longer shows up.

I went through all the troubleshooting steps and it still does not work. Checked wifi, home sharing , Internet connection, etc... Anyone have a solution?

Is your Apple TV "awake"? Sometimes the AirPlay icon won't show for me if the Apple TV is sleeping - pressing a key on the Apple remote ususally resolves it.

Awesome: Windows remain present all the time after libpng update

After the libpng update this week, my awesome behvaes strange.
As awesome depends on cairo-xcb, I‘ve downloaded the tarball from this page, extracted it and ran makepkg -s followed by sudo pacman -U. Seemed to work, so I repeated these steps both for awesome and vicious-git and finally ran sudo pacman -Syu. During the last few days, I repeated some of theses steps (eg. I rebuilt cairo-xcb again)
So I was able to launch Awesome again, but some strange issues occured: After closing (or even killing) windows or switching tags, windows remain present. The awesome context menu behaves as these windows: It does not vanish. In fact, if I open more than one window, awesome becomes practically unuseable.
I moved my awesome config file (~/.config/awesome/rc.lua) and therefore awesome loaded the default config file, but the error occured again.
So, after googling and asking in the IRC (nice to know that most awesome guys do not have problems with this update…), I finally use the forum

PS: Obviously, the “awesome“ in the title refers to the window manager not to the awesomeness of this error.
//Edit: If I move windows, they leave some lines behind them, so awesome seems to have problems redrawing the screen correctly…

For some reason I use the non-git-version, so I built the git version and installed it. Even after rebuilding cairo-xcb again, I get the same problem again So, how to use xcompmgr?

How can i restore all my documents after the update?

my brother has lost all his documents and everything after updating from the snow leapord, to the mavericks
is there any chance to restore all his stuff?

ALL contacts deleted after APP updates

All my contacts were deleted after some applications were updated on my Iphone. How do I restore from my computer backup only the CONTACT information, as my phone has photos which have yet to be backed up onto the computer. I cant backup my phone now as my contact list is empty. Advice anyone?

All info lost after software update...need help!

I was running a software update in order to make sure I had the latest on my computer. After I restarted the computer and 10.4.4 was loaded, I went into iTunes, address book, iPhoto and I nothing was there. Now this might be normal, but I was unaware of this and now I have a huge pit in my stomach because I lost a lot of information that took me months to compile. Iphone 4 will not sync all my photos after lion update

I just upgraded to Lion, and my iphone 4 will no longer sync all my photos. Nearly 600 are missing. I recieved the below error message -
Some of your photos, including the photo "AANP.JPG", were not copied to the iPhone "My iPhone" because they cannot be displayed on your iPhone.
All my photos were showing before I upgraded to Lion. All the files in question are a .jpg format
Here is what I have tried/checked-
I made sure all my photos were checked when syncing my iphone to itunes
I restored my iphone to orginal settings (it shows that there should be 1900 photos in itunes, but my phone only downloads 1300 of them)
I have made new albums and folders to get the files to show, but oddly enough my phone will not download them.
I do know about the article that says I need to restore the iPhone photo cache...and maybe I am slow, but I have no idea how to find the cache to clear it. I realize there is a tab in itunes that says photos, but how do I clear the cache from here?? The article is very confusing, and I really need more detailed directions.
The article says - If you need to free up space on your hard drive, or are directed to do so by another article, you can locate and remove the iPod Photo Cache folder(s).

Which is all well and good, but where do I find this cache???

Update - I found the iphoto cache deleted it. This did not work.... it still cannot find the photos. I then placed all the photos on my desktop and synced my phone to the folder. It found ALL the pictures on my desktop folder. I would still prefer to find a fix, so I can sync my photos to iPhoto....

i recently updated my iphome 5c with the latest update and I have lost all my recent pictures except about 20, which means I've lost a lot of importants ones of which include family and friends ans I am not happy since they should not have got deleted from this update.
where have they gone and how do I get them back!

There are two types of people in the world; those that have lost data, and those that will lose data. (In other words, it happens to everyone eventually).
The difference is whether or not you took proper precautions to safeguard your 'important' data. You did not.
Apple recommended backing up your data before updating your iOS. You did not.
You've learned an important yet painful lesson. Backup your data, and import your photos/videos regularly.
Tell me; what would you have done if, say, your iPhone had accidentally dropped into water and fried? Or if it had been lost or stolen? How would you have recovered your photos and other data then?
