All Music on one computer, but shared with other computers

This has probably been answered here somewhere, but I have yet to find it.
Situation:
Three PCs in the same house on the same network. I want to store all music on one PC, and share it between the three. I have turned on sharing on all Itunes. I can play Music on all PCs. No album info is displayed from the shared library, and it will not let me create a playlist to burn a CD on the PC that does not have the music physically on it.
Computer 1 - Main PC - Has Music files stored on it.
Computer 2 - My PC
Computer 3 - Kids PC
What I have done:
I have created a mapped drive to the itunes music library (computer 1), so that when ever music is ripped from a CD it is placed there(Comp 2 or Comp 3). When ever music is purchased it is also placed on the mapped drive (Comp 2 or Comp 3).
Problems now:
If a disc is ripped from Computer 2, it shows up on Computer 1 and 2, but not 3. If a disc is ripped from Computer 3, it shows up on Computer 1 and 3, but not 2. If music is purchased on Computer 2, it shows up on Computer 1 and 2, but not 3. If music is purchased on Computer 3, it shows up on Computer 1 and 3, but not 2.
So the question is: Is there a way to allow multiple PCs to share a mapped drive and update there individual databases to show current information?

You also need to map your iTunes library file. If you are on Windows it is probably in your My Documents folder. Once you find the folder it is in, share it, and then the next time you start iTunes in computer 2 or 3 hold down shift and select the recently shared library file as the library to open. This will allow all computers to read from the same library, but unfortunately they cannot all write to the same library at the same time. The last computer with iTunes open will be the last one to write the new iTunes library. Hope this makes sense.

I have to move desks and computers a lot at work. Today I bought $30 worth of music on one computer - but now I am sitting at a new desk and computer and can't find my music. Don't tell me to make sure I log on and off....i do! So where is my music?

The music you purchased is probably in our profile directory on the computer where you purchased it.  Unless your IT department has the computers setup to use "roaming profiles" your "My Music" folder will be stored locally on each computer.  I don't know of too many companies that use "roaming profiles" as they tend to cause about as many problems as they were designed to "fix".  If you are going to be moving to many different computers, I suggest that you consider moving your iTunes Library to an external drive that you move with you.  This way your purchased content is stored on your external drive and not on the local drive of the PC you are using at the time of the purchase.

I cannot for the life of me figure this out.

What you need to do is connect your phone to iTunes but do not click sync.  Go to File at the top and click transfer purchases from phone, that'll put all your apps into iTunes.  When it's done transferring, locate your phone on the sidebar and click it.  Then find the apps option above the picture of your iphone, you can select which apps you want or don't want on your phone.  After selecting your apps then you can sync.  Once you do this you should never have your problem anymore.

  • Songs playing on one computer, but not on others.

I use my iPod on three different computers (Home/Work/brand new laptop). I recently upgraded my iPod from original 80gb to new Classic 160gb. Before I purchased my new iPod, I transferred my whole library (about 50gb)from my iPod onto my new laptop(using transfer software). Then when I purchased my new iPod I synced the whole library to the iPod. The problem is that when ever I connect my iPod to my work or home PC some songs have an exclamation mark next to them (and they don't play). So when I went to replace the "exclamation marked" songs from the laptop (where the whole library exist), I had NO exclamation marks. So my question is why do the songs play on one computer but not the others? Please help!

It looks alot like the problem we had when we couldn't resolve the CUPS server FQDN.  But the desktop and laptop are on the same subnet and use the same DNS servers.  I can ping the CUPS server by FQDN from the command prompt on both

  • "printer is offline" appears on one computer but not the other (both windows 7)

printer is offline" appears on one computer but not the other (both windows 7)

This is pretty common to see when your firewall kicks in and blocks certain communication paths the printer takes.
Here's a list of ports and programs that when allowed through the firewall, will restore communiction.
    Ports to open:
    UDP ports: 427, 161, 139
    TCP ports: 9200, 9220, 9290, 9500
    Programs to allow:
    hpiscnapp.exe
    hpoews01.exe
    hpofxm08.exe
    hposfx08.exe
    hposid01.exe
    hpqkygrp.exe
    hpqste08.exe
    hpqtra08.exe
    hpznui01.exe
    hpzwiz01.exe
SLP_Service (also known as UDP 427)
Have your security software provider walk you through allowing these items through your firewall.
If this does not fix your issue, it is most likely an issue with the driver configuration. Your router may have assisgned the printer a new IP address and this can be changed in the properties of the existing driver.

  • HT201322 Will hiding songs hide them from all computers? Is there a way to delete a song off one computer but not the other?

My mom & I share the same iTunes account and we finally have seperate computers. If i hide songs from iCloud on my computer will it also hide them on her's? If it does, is there anyway i can hide/delete some songs off my computer but keep them on her computer because I don't want her music on my compute but i don't want to repurchase everything i have....

Try restoring your iPod. Restoring will erase the iPod's hard drive, reload the software and put it back to default settings. it won't remove anything from your iTunes library. Once the restore is complete follow the on screen instructions to name the iPod and automatically sync your songs and videos onto the fresh installation. Press Done and the iPod will appear in iTunes and start to sync. If you want to update manually or using selected playlists uncheck the box beside the sync automatically instruction and press Done, it will default to manual mode and you can choose whatever setting you like: Restoring iPod to factory settings with iTunes 7

  • Home sharing library loads on one computer but not the other

I have turned on Home Sharing (using the same account for both) on two computers. One of them loads the other's library, but the other either continually says it is attempting to load, or immediately reverts back to the normal Music library screen.
I have spent several hours searching the Internet to find suggestions but nothing seems to be working:
I have downloaded the newest version of iTunes
I have tried setting up a new account, de-authorising the computer on all accounts except the new one
I have turned off the sharing located under the Preferences tab
I have made sure that iTunes is not blocked by a firewall
I have checked that the Bonjour service is running
I have tried turning everything off and starting all over again
I would welcome a new solution! Thank you!

It could be a firewall issue. Try disabling the firewall and see if that helps.

  • Itunes and Airport admin do not see AE on one computer, but do on other

I have a network that is connected to the internet via a Linksys router. I have set up the Airport Express to redistribute the signal via WDS. I have a Mac desktop connected to the network and it can see the AE in the Airport Admin, and it can broadcast music via iTunes to the stereo attached to the AE.
However, my Powerbook that is also attached to this network cannot "see" the AE via the Airport Admin or iTunes. In the admin I can manually connect to the AE by typing in the AE's local IP address.
I know there have been other threads on this, and I have read them all and tried the suggestions. I have connected the AE directly to the Powerbook with an ethernet cable and it still does not show up. I have changed the AE's name and rebooted the computer and AE multiple times. Still nothing.
If anyone has more advice, please let me know. This is very odd and frustrating. I do not understand why one computer can see the thing, but the other one cannot.
    Thanks,
    Bryan

Okay, this really has me baffled... When I woke up this morning and looked at my laptop, the AE appeared in the Admin Utility and as a speaker selection in iTunes. When I tried to select the AE as an audio output in iTunes the application just did not respond. I closed and restarted iTunes and the output selector was no longer there, and when I checked the Admin Utility the AE was no longer in the list.
I decided to not worry about it for now.
So then I logged into my work network via my VPN client. While attached to the VPN I clicked over to iTunes and, lo and behold, the selector is back and the AE is available for audio output. Once again, if I try to select the AE as the output, iTunes does not respond to the selection. The AE is also visible in the Admin Utility while connected to the VPN as well. If I log off of the VPN, the AE disappears from iTunes and the Admin Utility.
    Any ideas?
    Thanks,
    Bryan

  • Image Distortion on one computer but not the other?!?

I have been using Fireworks CS5 for the past year making a slideshow for our website however this time it is giving me problems. I created the slideshow same always by resizing my images and optomizing them before loading them into Fireworks. From there I export, same as always.
On my Mac and my PC the slideshow looks amazing on expolorer, firefox and safari. On my boss's computer it looks great in explorer but in her firefox the photos are distorted. I have tried everything. I have built and exported this slideshow 20 times in the past 2 days, its still the same on her machine. I'm worried that if they look distorted for her they will look distorted on other computers - what is wrong?????

  • HT204187 outgoing mail rejects password on one computer but not the other

The mail program says the outgoing mail password is incorrect on wife's desktop computer, but mail works from her iPad.

I, too, have the same problems as listed above. I have changed my password in my mail account several times. Each time my iPhone and iPad accept the new password and is able to send/receive mail. My macbookPro rejects it each time. I have tried deleting it from keychain...still did not fix the problem. Any other suggestions?
