All music shows cloud icon!?

I did a backup, wiped the phone and did a restore.. For some sort of bug that increases the size of 'other' to a huge size ( memory leak?)
I got the restore completed and watched iTunes as it loaded all of the 976 songs I have checked in my library. Leave for the airport this morning and hook in to listen to music and EVERY song on my phone has a cloud by it. ***?! I look in settings, general, about and it shows the phone has 2 GB free, which is exactly what iTunes showed when I sync'ed.
I never used to have these kind of bugs until the last couple years of upgrading iTunes and the IOS on my devices. I'm an avid Apple user with an iMac, 2 MacBooks, an Apple TV, iPhone 5, iPad Air and iPad mini.. And those are just the current devices. The newer stuff has way more bugs than the older stuff. I feel like Apple is losing its edge. How is iTunes syncing buggy?! It's probably their most popular and widely used software! My issue is obviously a software bug, just some sort of error in the handling of the presence of a song. The phone knows it's there.. iTunes just doesn't apparently.

Go to Edit > Preferences > Store, and uncheck the box for "Show iTunes in the Cloud purchases."

I was given the option to locate the file where the song is held. If so select "locate" and direct it to the folder / file where the song is and open it. itunes then will give you the option to use this process to update all of your library. OK that as this will do it automatically instead of doing them one by one. I hope this helps.

You have to sync your music from iTunes (on your computer) to your iPhone. It will then all be in the Music app/icon.

Yes, Apple has caused people to go through massive panic, anxiety and wasted time by not coming out and telling us about this problem. They must know about it. How can we tell them? Now I understand why it took me 50 tries to upgrade to OS5. We all got the same crazy errors that caused us to reinstall iTunes, turn off our firewalls, buy new USB cables and basically waste tons of time and energy, when the solution was very simple. Plug your device into a USB port on your computer.
After years of using a peripheral USB hub successfully it's no wonder we all started freaking out and thinking it was a major problem. Yes, I'm blowing off some steam, but I've been an Apple fanatic for a long time and I'm not happy about their lack of response to this issue.

TS4124 is there a fee for downloading music with cloud icons

Due to a drive failure, I had to reconstruct my iTunes library from a back up. When I did this, I also upgraded to iTunes 11.0.1 (12) and discovered hundreds of tracks with cloud icons, some I had purchased, some I don't remember ever purchasing. Because ONE album with a cloud was one I'd purchased from iTunes a couple of days prior, I assumed that these were all free-access - that is, I have rights to download.
I started clicking on the hundreds of cloud icons and the downloading began flooding through.
Is there a fee for downloading? I didn't see any new fees in my account, but those things can take days. There was not prompt asking "if I wanted to purchase".

You can download all your music purchased in iTunes as many times as you want free or charge

Show all music shows duplicates

When I turn on show all music my iphone shows duplicates of some songs. When I click the download it shows that it's downloading both and when its done it shows only one has downloaded. When I go on another phone with the same Apple id it doesn't show any duplicates when show all music is turned on. What do i do to stop the duplicates from my phone on the cloud

Sounds like some songs listed in the Purchased section are not downloaded on the iPod. To download past pruchases to the iPod see:

Not all music showing up in iTunes

The latest version and previous version of iTunes will not show all music in my iTunes Media folder. All my music files still exist in the Music sub-folder, but only those artists from T - Z are showing in iTunes. I have tried a previous iTunes library, but it is also not showing all music. I am on an a 64-bit HP laptop running Windows 7. Any ideas? Thanks.

If you feel that you have enough evidence of the symptoms, use the feedback at http://www.apple.com/feedback/itunesapp.html to let Apple know. The "feedback type" of "bug report" has been removed from the iTunes feedback, so I suggest you use use "Other".
You will not receive any feedback from them, but they do read the submissions and act upon them. It can take a while, and more than one iTunes update before the issue is resolved.

Not all music showing up after Match

I recently subscribed to the iTunes Match service. Let it run overnight to match and upload my songs. I woke up in the morning, and my library was about 500 songs smaller!
Music Library: 1582 songs, 6.73 GB
Thankfully I had all my songs backed up, although this proved to be unnecessary, as the music IS still there upon further examination
All Music smart playlist: 2039 songs, 5.5 days, 8.89 GB
How odd. I created a smart playlist to easily identify which songs were and which songs were not in the Music Library
Now there is a very definite pattern: All the songs not included in the Library are those that (for whatever reason) couldn't be matched
1 ineligible song + 457 uploaded songs.
Most of those songs I know are in the iTunes store, so I am not sure why they aren't matched to begin with.

Are those apps purchased using a different Apple ID?
On iPhone, start App Store app, tap Updates (bottom right) > tap Purchased > tap Not on This iPhone
are those apps there?

All music shows in purchased folder, only show a small amount in music when creating a playlist

All my music is on my ipod. itunes shows all my music in the music and purchased folder. When I try and create a new playlist, the music in my library only contains about 20% of my total music. Any help?

I have updated iTunes on my computer and my iPod nano 4 is up to date but not all music shows up in my iTunes library..only the purchased songs..what happened and how do I get them back into the library?

The music library in the updated version of iTunes is grossly incomplete although the music still remains on my iPod. Why did this happen and how do I get the music back into the library?

Thanks for visiting Apple Support Communities.
If your iTunes library is on an external hard drive, but iTunes is not recognizing the library, first make sure the right library is selected.
You can use these steps to make sure iTunes is opening the library on your external drive:
If iTunes is running, quit iTunes.
If you're using Windows, hold down the Shift key and from the Start menu, choose All Programs > iTunes > iTunes.
If you're using a Mac, open iTunes and immediately hold down the Option key.
You should see one of these screens:
Pick Choose Library and locate the library on your external hard drive.

If the right library is selected, but you do not see your songs, try re-creating the library using the instructions found here:

All music, shows, films etc not showing up in itunes but still on computer

Hi all - my computer froze sometime in the night - i restarted it and now have lost my library in itunes.
It must still be somewhere on the computer i have exactly the same free HD space as before - I also back up to my time capsule.
My question is - how did this happen and how do i get everything back - playlists, etc, as quick and painlessly as possible?

See in the sidebar to the right there is a 'Search Discussions' bar. I typed in 'iPod doesn't appear in iTunes' and 500 results came up. On the first page alone there were several answered questions very similar to yours, so I presume there will be quite a lot of relevant advice for you amongst those results.

I have pc with itunes loaded on seperate hard drive and can't find all music some from ripping in wav files won;t show but any and all i've downloaded from itunes store are there what,s up/ /?

Having trouble getting my music from seperate hard drive. Recently tried to have my new laptop see and play itunes on my wireless server, but not all music showed up, and now my music on my pc doesn't show all music either. Some wav files from ripping off cd, and some I've imported from windows media show up and all mp3 bought from store is there. But more than half is listed at bottom of library as unknown artist, unknown album etc.. WHATS UP!!!!

try backing up the adresses on a different computer.
1) connect iphone to computer
2) in itunes click "enable disk use"
3) locate the files in the iphone hard drive
4) copy and paste them on that computer
if it does wipe out your adress library, just revert to the backup. Although i don't know where the files will be on your iphone hard drive.

My music is in the cloud, but it's also on my hard drive. Why does it all show with the cloud icon? Anyway to force the iTunes client to recognize that all of the music is already in my iTunes library folder?

Recently moved to a new PC. Upon installing iTunes, in the Settings dialogue, I've indicated where my iTunes library is stored. And yet, all of my albums in iTunes are showing up with the "cloud" icon, meaning that the client doesn't realize there is a local copy. Clicking the "cloud" icon ends up downloading a duplicate copy of the song/album.
Any suggestions for how to fix this...so that my iTunes client knows all of this music is on my hard drive (in addition to being in the cloud)?

I just got new ipad mini....I want to delete all of the music that was synced from my itunes account. I have went through and deleted some songs one by one but some have a cloud icon with a red arrow on them.....is there a simple way just to delete them?

Yes there is. Those songs are not actually on your iPad. They are in iCloud ready for download if you choose to do so. If you want to remove them go to Settings>iTunes & App Store>Show All>Music>Off. You can also do this in Settings>Music>Show All Music>Off.
