All my audio (WAV) files got destroyed by "Metadata writing in progress" error. Help please?

I am running Adobe Premiere CS6.03 which is the most current update I believe. I am running Windows 7 64bit with 16GB RAM 3.60 GHz quad core.
When I tried to save my project I got the error "Metadata writing in progress (2 files pending). If you quit before writing is complete, data will be lost. Are you sure you want ot quit? "
I waited 30 minutes but nothing changed. So I just accepted and exited. Then when I reopened the project all the sound looked like this:
They are WAV files from a Zoom H4N. The video files work perfectly. For some reason it's just the audio files that got destroyed. The actual original WAV files itself are fine it's just that particular sequence, in fact I can pull the original audio files from the project tab into the same sequence and they will play. It would take me ages to reconstruct the audio sequence piece by piece. I tried "Replace Footage" which didn't work and I tried linking the media all over again which didn't work. I've been working on this project forever. Is there any fix for this?

If you have "save media cache next to originals when possible" ticked in your preferences then you might need to delete the .pek files that Premiere generates from the folder that your wav files are in. Premiere will make a new one, and I've found this has fixed similar audio issues that I've had in the past.
Otherwise, open a new project and then import the sequence from your old project into it, and see if that fixes it.

if the files are in one of GB's supported formats:

(Let the page FULLY load. The link to your answer is at the top of your screen)
simply drag and drop the files into the GB timeline

I created a multicam clip with 3 cameras with crappy, far away, room audio and 1 stereo audio wav file with 2 lavaliere mics of "good Audio" 1 lav left & 1 lav right. on one channel there is a lot of distortion from shirt ruffle etc.... but only at times. I would like to ride the mix and use sections of "good" audio and get rid of sections of "Bad" audio from the one channel. but, I cant figure it out. anyone??? I'm hoping Apple updates this issue soon with great audio support with "simultaneos multicam audio switching!!!" Please, Please Apple...

You can do what you need right now, no need for Apple to do anything, they've already don it. Check this out.

I am confused about Icloud. I have a 5 year old Macbook, a 2 year old macbook and a 5 year old mac mini. What exactly do I need to do to get all this connected via Icloud. I also have an Iphone 3G. Help please! Also, I still don't understand exactly what the benefits are. At the moment it seems a lot of hassle to change a system that's been working perfectly well and that I'm very happy with. I'm not at all sure whether the mac mini (1.66 GHz INtel Core Duo) can be brought up to the relevant spec to run ICloud.  Any thoughts?

There are two aspects to iCloud.  One is simply getting an account, or migrating a mobileme account to iCloud.  The second part is using the various features of iCloud to sync contacts, calendars, use music match or photo sharing, and store iWorks documents.
First to get an iCloud account:
If you have a mobileme account, you can migrate by simply logging onto www.icloud.com (ignore any references to Lion and just click through to complete the migration).  If you have OS X Lion or an iOS 5 mobile device, you can create an iCloud account on that device using any valid AppleID.
Once you have an account, you can use JUST the mail account if you wishi - it is a standard IMAP account so you would set it up like any other IMAP email account you have, in whatever client program you use to read email.
To use the OTHER feautes of iCloud, your computers will have to be running OS X Lion (10.7).  Your iPhone 3G will never be able to use iCloud as it cannot run iOS 5 (you need a min. of an iPhone 3GS to run iOS 5).
The requirements for OS X Lion are here - http://www.apple.com/macosx/specs.html  You need a min. of a Core 2 duo processor so you mini is not capable of running Lion.
So, in your case, the single reasons for iCloud would be if you have a mobileme account, then use the online www.icloud.com to migrate your account so you do not lose your @me.com email address.  You can use iCloud email (without using any other iCloud features) by setting it up as IMAP mail with these settings - http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4864
If you want an iCloud account and do NOT already have a mobileme account, you will need to upgrade one machine at least to Lion in order to be able to create an iCloud account.

  • Metadata writing in progress (n files pending).... error

After updating to the latest version of the Premiere Pro last week, everytime I am closing the project I now get a "Metadata. Metadata writing in progress (n files pending). If you quit before writing is complete, data will be lost. Are you sure you want to quit? Yes/No" error window. Please see a screenshoot attached for one of such errors.
What is interesting, is that no matter how much time i give it the process is never complete.

So the metadata writing in Premiere is fairly involved.
It tries to write metadata in the background asynchronously, but only when the file isn't being touched by something else in the application or by some other application.  What you're experiencing is potentially (I can't say for sure yet) where these 23 background metadata writing tasks never finished, or someone else never let go of the file.  If that someone else is Premiere, it is definitely a bug (which is my current guess).
Are you able to provide which file types these 23 files are, and what sort of drive/volume they're on (e.g. local/external USB/firewire/SSD/etc).
And since a number of other posters are mentioning that this started in 6.0.2 for them, is that the same for you?

I seem to be having the same problem on my Windows 8 laptop... I am able to update my iPod Nano through iTunes but my iPhone is not recognized as a device in iTunes. Have been able to update my iPad until recently. Is this a bug fix that Apple can help with? I'd rather not uninstall all my Apple programs if I can avoid it...

  • Compare two audio wave files

Could some one help me on how to compare two wave file for
similarities also can i provide a facility to record a audio at run
time and compare with the one that i already have.

the criteria is when the wave line is tha same, I think this is the best form to compare the content of a wave. Maybe with a range for the error question in the timeline.

  • How to display audio (wav) files as a graph?

    Hi,
I am building a Java Swing application that will play wav audio files and have a requirement to also DISPLAY the waveform as a graph (amplitude vs time).
I have been using some basic java sound methods to play the audio but was hoping that there might be some code out there to also DISPLAY the waveform.
Capability to zoom in and out would be nice also, but any help to simply display a wav file would be great. If it makes any difference the wav files are encoded PCM at 8,16, and 32 kHz sample rates.
I am a novice java programmer (but learning fast)....
    Thanks. Bill

  • Audio (.wav) files

I've downloaded a couple extensions from the Exchange, but
could not find the sound I was looking for. Having since found a
suitable clip I'd like to know: 1) In what folder the audio files
are stored in Flash and 2) Is it simply a matter of depositing the
.wav files there for them to show up in the Common Libraries
    panel?

On Windows XP, the path is C:\Documents and
    Settings\username\Local Settings\Application Data\Adobe\Flash
    CS3\language\Configuration\Libraries\.
On Windows Vista, the path is C:\Users\username\Local
    Settings\Application Data\Adobe\Flash
    CS3\language\Configuration\Libraries\.
On Mac OS, the path is Hard
    Disk/Users/username/Library/Application Support/Adobe/Flash
    CS3/language/Configuration/Libraries/.
Personally I would not bother keeping content in common
libraries. After a while of working
with multiple projects you will end up storing huge amounts
of data, which isn't fun browsing
through in the library panel. It may also becomes slow and
unresponsive if loaded with too much
    content.
You will be better off having external drive or directory on
    your drive dedicated to specific
    content. Sound/ Effects/ Loops etc...

  • I cannot synch 24fps video footage with an audio .wav file. Is there a speed conversion factor?

I inadvertantly shot a video interview with a new camera (Panasonic HVX 200) set at 24fps. Because of that, the camera wasn't getting an audio signal from the microphone so in a panic, I hauled out my trusty old Zoom H4Nex digital audio recorder and captured it that way. Now I cannot synch up the audio and video in FCP CC (MAC OSX 10.9.2). Clearly, the audio file is about 25% longer than the video file, however, I cannot find the exact factor to change the audio speed to create lip synch. It always ends up a little short or a little long. If you will point out the error of my ways - I will promise to never do THIS again!

Thanks, Steven. But that's not it. Here's some new information:  The camera
I was using (Panasonic HVX 200) had the frame rate set to 720 30pn.
However, the "scene file" mistakenly applied listed 24fps. Premiere Pro
thinks this footage is 29.97. Is it possible that it's actually 24fps and
that's why it's about 25% shorter than the corresponding .wav file? If so,
is there a way to "fool" Premiere Pro into slowing down the footage?
Unless I'm off the mark completely. It's been known to happen.......

  • Hi, We have an application  built using HTMl 5 and Javascript running on IPad2, iOS5.1 Safari 5.1. When we try to download a file(.pvw file) in that application safari throws "Download failed" error. Please suggest what needs to be done.

    Hi,
We have an application  built using HTMl 5 and Javascript running on IPad2, iOS5.1 Safari 5.1.
When a file url is clicked instead of asking for Save or Open or Cancel options, the file gets opened on IPad by default.
Is this default behaviour which cannot be changed or can it be configured to ask user preference?
When we try to download a file(.pvw file -> a model file) in the above application, safari throws "Download failed" error.
Please suggest what needs to be done.
    Regards,
    Pramod

Safari on an iPad in general does not allow downloading of files. That's a safety precaution in the iOS SDK to keep unauthorized content off of iOS devices. Safari will open from the web site file types that it can handle, but direct downloading isn't normal behavior, and I don't believe the behavior can be changed, though you can try asking in the developer forum, either here or the one to which you have access as a member of Apple's iOS developer program.
    Regards.

  • When I "Add file to library" it doesn't stay there. Help please?

Like, it will stay listed in iTunes but say it isn't found. Also sometimes when I try to edit info for these files it freezes iTunes. Getting pretty frustrated here. Help please?

I'm not sure if it would help but have you tried drag and drop into itunes or add folder?

  • No audio for full screen on iTunes 11.1.1. can anyone help please?

just updated to i tunes 11.1.1. the design was a bad enough of a surprise. but more importantly, if i try to play videos in full screen, the audio vanishes.
can anyone help please? anyone having the same problem? cheers

That was an issue that lots of people were having with 11.1 (including myself). I thought this update would fix that, but alas, no.
Although I did discover that the Surround channel (if a movie has it) DOES work in full screen... just not the regular Stereo audio.

    Hi sambanyc,
What version of Adobe Reader have you installed on your Mac?
Please try installing on a different Admin user account and check if that makes a difference.
