All my data shifts to "Other" category and then won't re-connect to iTunes.

This will be hard to explain. I've been using my laptop to connect through iTunes on Vista for the last seven months, and no problems have occurred at all. I have 80gb+ data combined with music and video on my iPod, but all of a sudden when I went to sync my iPod with iTunes, the USB connects and the iPod reads as "Connected," but iTunes won't recognize.
Then when I disconnect the cable, iTunes appears with the following message: "iTunes cannot read the contents of the iPod. Go to the Summary tab in iPod preferences and click Restore to restore this iPod to factory settings.
And I would LOVE to do that, but I've already needed to disconnect the USB to the iPod because iTunes wouldn't recognize it until after it was already disconnected.
I'm at a loss for words here because I've been an iPod user for three years now, and I've never had this happen to me before. I would gladly Restore my iPod if only I knew how to have iTunes recognize the iPod.
Can anybody assist me with this? I really need it, thank you.

I still don't know what the cause was for all my data suddenly shifting to "Other," therefore making it unwatchable and me unable to listen to the music, but I decided to go into the iPod manually from "My Computer," and click on the iPod drive that opens a number of other menus (such as Notes, Calenders, etc.; just the basic selections within the iPod itself).
When I clicked the drive and was looking at the options, I highlighted them all -- with iTunes still running -- and deleted them. Eventually, the iPod was finally recognized by iTunes, and so I cancelled the delete, and was able to click "Restore" when the iPod was at last recognized.
It's syncing all my music and videos back up now, so I'm happy. It might not have been the safest thing to do to the iPod, risking permanent deletion of certain necessary files that could render it useless in the end, but I was desperate and thankfully when the iPod was restored all the files I had previously deleted were created again, making the whole decision quite successful (thus far.)

Are you trying to restore as new or from a back up? Is iTunes and your computer all up to date?

Try quitting all apps and restart your iPad. Maybe you are running out of memory on the iPad. It's worth a try.
Go to the home screen first by tapping the home button. Quit/close open apps by double tapping the home button and the task bar will appear with all of you recent/open apps displayed at the bottom. Tap and hold down on any app icon until it begins to wiggle. Tap the minus sign in the upper left corner to close the apps. Restart the iPad.
Restart the iPad by holding down on the sleep button until the red slider appears and then slide to shut off. To power up hold the sleep button until the Apple logo appears and let go of the button.
Or try a reset,
Reset the iPad by holding down on the sleep and home buttons at the same time for about 10-15 seconds until the Apple Logo appears - ignore the red slider - let go of the buttons.

I got a messgae on my screen about the 5.1 update on my iPhone 4 so I clicked update. My device turned off then the apple screen popped up and it began to perform the up date. after the loading bar was full it went to a connect to itunes screen so I did but nothing happened and iTunes will not recognize my device. I have uninstalled iTunes and reinstalled it. I also held the home/sleep button while holding menu button. Can someone please help me???????/////

Similar problem here. I have the 4s model and I try to do the update but when it downloaded the update it said that a problem occurred and then switched to the connect-to-iTunes screen.

I got the answer off another thread I was reading. Just trying to spread it around now.

Settings>General>Usage
Now for me, I have about 6GB of music on mine. What I did was select music, Now Left swipe the All Music row and press delete. After that I opened up my phone on iTunes and synced it like normal. The other data was gone after that.

Correct. it does not magially appear in other places. It will only be where you put it.

Correct as well. Iphone will sync with one computer at a time. Syncing to another will erase the current content.
You need to copy everything ( itunes library/contacts/pics/calendars/files/docs) from the old computer, or your backup copy of the old one, to the new one.

I have the same problem. For about 1 month ago I extended my iCloud storage account (+20 GB) in order to maintain my backups for iPHONE and iPAD as my account would expire 14/10. In spite of this, I got an email 15/10, which said that iCloud was reduced to 5 GB. 2 hours later I received a new email with comfirmation on the purchase of +20 GB storage plan. However, I only have access to 5 GB on my iPad and iPhone. Called Apple Support but they couldn´t help me. Did you find any solution ?

Do you have another Mac? If so, you can startup this one in "Target Disk Mode" (instructions here) and connect it to another Mac to delete the home folders (or the entire drive, if that's what you want).
One piece of advise, though: after deleting the data, and of course emptying the Trash, it wouldn't hurt to also securely erase the "free space" of the drive (instructions here) before disconnecting the old Mac from the new one. This can be helpful, since "deleted" data is often retrievable with ease unles it's written over after the deletion.

There's more to it than that.
Folders in Aperture do not hold Images. They hold Projects and Albums. You cannot put an Image in a Folder without putting it in a Project or an Album inside that Folder.
The relationship between Projects and Images is special: every Image must in a Project, and can be in only one Project.
Images can be in as many Albums you want. Putting an Image in an Album does not move it from the Project that holds it.
You can make as many Versions from a Master as you want.
What you want to do may appear simple to you, but it still much adhere to how Aperture works. I still can't tell exactly what you are trying to do (specifically: Images don't live in Folders; moving an Image from a Folder is non-sensical).
It can be very confusing (and frustrating) to get going with Aperture -- but it does work, and can be enormously helpful. If you haven't, take a look at the video tutorials on Apple's Aperture support site.
I feel as though I haven't helped you much -- but we need to be using the same names for interface items in order to get anything done -- and my sense is that you still haven't learned the names of the parts.

In the File I/O>>Advanced File Functions Palette is a function named "List directory". This function will give you two arrays. One contains the names of all subdirectories the other the names of all files. If you want to sort them by name use the array sort function. If you want to sort them by another attribute use the File/Directory Info function to get more data. Use a cluster which contains the attribut to sort and the original index of the name. Then sort this array.

Tap on the edit button at the top right of the email list. This will let you select the emails to delete, once all are selected, tap on the bottom right button that says delete to delete them all at once.

First see if placing the iPod in Recovery Mode will allow a restore.
Next try DFU mode and restore.

Most likely, water damage.
You can try putting your iPod in a tupperware, half filled (maybe half inch) with rice grains, close the cover for about a week.
If you have done this, as soon as it got wet, higher chances of success, now looks like the water moisture is getting to the LCD screen.
Then you can always bring it to Apple Genius bar, for a an overhaul. (may cost you half the price of a new iPod classic.)
