All my images are darker

I recently upgraded to OS 10.4.3 and iLife 06 and realized that all of my iPhoto images are now darker than they were with the old version. is there a remedy without brightening each image individually?

if you don't want to delete it, just save it to another location,so you can later put it back on the original location if you like.
it's just a profile.
But i think you can delete it as well.
it has no effect on your system.

Using Adobe Export PDF, I converted a PDF document into MS Word. However, all the images are missing--replaced by black rectangles. How can I fix this? Thanks for any assistance.

    Hi Ravinder,
As I mentioned in my email to you, I wasn't able to reproduce the behavior your described.  The images appear properly.
Please let me know if you have any questions.

  • Hi all, when I open a New Tab pg all the images are blank - I've tried clicking on the blank images, & dragging a link from the Bookmarks, without success!

I want to achieve at least one of two things: either set New Tabs to open with Google automatically; or at least, to have Google pinned to the New Tab page. (Google is my home page.) When a new page opens, all the images are blank. I've read through the Help pages & tried various things. I've tried dragging Google from the Bookmarks to the New Tab, but this only opens Google. I've tried clicking on the blank images, but nothing happens. I've toggled the blank images off for now, so at least I don't need to look at them. I am doing a university course online, so efficiency is really important to me! Those extra clicks really add up & distract!... Thanks in advance :)

    # In the [[Location bar autocomplete|Location bar]], type '''about:config''' and press '''Enter'''. The about:config "''This might void your warranty!''" warning page may appear.
    # Click '''I'll be careful, I promise!''', to continue to the about:config page.
    # Type '''browser.newtab.url''', in the bar on the top of the page.
    # Double click the first result, '''a new window should appear'''.
    # Type '''www.google.com''' in the window, click ok.
    # '''Open a new tab''', does it go to google?

I'm using HP dx7400 and the PCIe 1433 is installed on a full-height PCI Express x16.
But from the manual of dx7400, that x16 slot is remarked for graphic cards:
"One (1) full-height PCI Express x16 slot on PCA (for graphic cards)"
Wondering if my 1433 is not correctly installed and causing the grabbing problem.
    Any comments would help.

  • I made an iPhoto book but now all the images are gone?

I recently made a book in iPhoto and never finished it.  When I re-open the book in iPhoto, the formatting and all the text exists but the images are all gone.  Is there a way to try and rebuild it?  Thanks-M

Do the following: make a temporary, backup copy of your library if you don't already have one (Control-click on the library and select Duplicate from the contextual menu) and  apply the two fixes below in order as needed:
    Fix #1
Launch iPhoto with the Command+Option keys held down and rebuild the library.
Since only one option can be run at a time start with Option #3, followed by #4 and then #1 as needed.
    Fix #2
Using iPhoto Library Manager  to Rebuild Your iPhoto Library
1 - download iPhoto Library Manager and launch.
2 - click on the Add Library button, navigate to your Home/Pictures folder and select your iPhoto Library folder.
3 - Now that the library is listed in the left hand pane of iPLM, click on your library and go to the File ➙ Rebuild Library menu option.
4 - In the next  window name the new library and select the location you want it to be placed.
5 - Click on the Create button.
Note: This creates a new library based on the LIbraryData.xml file in the library and will recover Events, Albums, keywords, titles and comments.  However, books, calendars, cards and slideshows will be lost. The original library will be left untouched for further attempts at fixing the problem or in case the rebuilt library is not satisfactory.

  • IWeb and .Mac images are dark when viewed with PCs--how to fix?

I do my Photo editing in iPhoto on an iMac or an iBook, and the images look fine. Once posted to a .Mac or iWeb page, they still look fine on my Mac monitors, but when viewed on PCs and PC laptops, they are MUCH darker... The sites look terrible. The brightness on the nonMac monitors is turned up already.
Is there something special I should do to get images to appear correctly on nonMac machines?

Thanks for the responses. This has been a problem for a couple of years and this is real advice! I even had this problem with a book published through Apple. Anyway...
I didn't follow Barbara advice (OK, I'm slow, but I couldn't quite figure out where the gamma setting was), but I did use Falcon01's suggestion to use the sRGB IEC61966-2.1 profile.
I then reviewed and re-edited the relevant pictures. In this case, they are pictures of my girlfriend's condo she is trying to rent (mostly slightly off-white walls (aren't they all?) and dark, rich parquet flooring.) First, the pictures were darker, and I could adjust the exposure to much brighter, which helped a great deal. It did, however, introduce lots of color artifacts (pinkish blotchy walls). I drastically reduced the saturation which (good) made the walls look fairly normal, but (bad) made the rich wood flooring look drab and grayish. For this purpose, this will be satifactory--the pictures now at least are bright enough to not look dark and dank, and people can see what the rooms look like.
When I try this on important pictures of people and such, this approach makes me nervous. Most pictures will look awful if I boost expsoure and drain the color out. How do others handle this? Thanks in advance. BTW, here is the revised web site if interested.

  • All web images are being saved as web clippings...

    Dear Apple Community,
For the past 2 days every image I try to save to my mac from a website (via Safari), remote server (ie: .me), etc. Is being saved as a .RTF web clipping. When I click on the files, TextEditor opens, but the file is empty even thought "Get Info" says that the file has 200 KB, 500KB, etc. I have always saved all images by dragging and dropping to my desktop and it has always worked fine... Except for the last 2 days!... Any Ideas?

I'm not sure what you mean by "web clipping"--I am familiar with .RTF, which is Rich Text Format and RTF files are opened by TextEdit as the default, they are text files that include formatting information. I don't believe grabbing an image and dragging it out of the browser window and onto the Desktop would miraculously change a graphic file into a complex text file.
I think the first thing I would try is to right or control click on an image on some web page you have opened, and select "Open Image in New Window"--then note the URL in the address bar, especially the extension of the image (.jpg or .png most likely). Drag the image out of the browser to the Desktop. If it acquires the RTF extension try changing the extension to .jpg (or .png, or whatever it was) and see if it will open properly.
If the address of the image is not in the form of http://somedomain.com/imagesfolder/image.jpg but rather something rather odd looking--especially if it includes the word "data"--I would suspect some extension installed in Safari recently and/or updated or turned on recently is causing the problem.

  • All Thumbnail images are the same image

All of sudden all of my iphoto thumbnails are the exact same image.
This is just occurred after I got a message to rebuild the library.
When I actually open up the photo in iphoto the correct image is there.
How can I get iphoto to show the thumbnail as the actual image?

Back Up and try rebuild the library: hold down the command and option (or alt) keys while launching iPhoto. Use the resulting dialogue to rebuild. Include the option to rebuild the thumbnails. This can take three or four goes to work.

  • Iphoto5, all thumbnail images are gone, only ghost outline remains, tried rebuilding, no results.  Does anyone have a solution?

Can anyone tell me how to get my iphotos back?  Only a ghost outline remains in the iphoto library and all the albums, 19,500 images dissapeared.
We tried rebuilding, but no success.  Thanks!

Thank you very much - this is the solving of my problem. For any reason all my content was unchecked. So iTunes deleted music and movies on the ATV and did no synchronizing. Now it is working fine.
    Kind regards. Friedrich Guenter.

  • Not all RAW images are imported

I have CS5 and use a Lumix FZ150.  The native format of the RAW images on the camera is RW2.  When I try to open these in CS5, some are opened some do not.  The pics that open, open in Camera RAW.  The others give me an error message, that my camera is not supported?
Any ideas as to what the problem is.

The FZ150 RW2 files should open in ACR 6.5 thru ACR 6.7 for CS5.   If you are not use ACR 6.7 you might try that, first, in case there was some issue that was corrected in later versions.
If you are already using that version, then the files may be corrupt.  It could be a bad memory card, bad card reader/cable or even a bad hard-drive on the computer.  You might try transferring the bad files, again, from the memory card, perhaps using a different method (camera-connected-cable vs card-reader) and see if they work a second time.  If not, then the memory card may be bad.  If the files transfer ok a second time, then something besides the memory card is bad.
If nothing you do works, then perhaps the camera is writing the files in a different mode that Adobe doesn’t support.  I am not familiar with your camera to know what that might be, but some cameras write smaller raw formats or HDR raw formats and maybe Adobe doesn’t decode everything.
If you can’t figure it out, then you can try posting a bad file, here, so others can take a look.  The way to do that would be to upload the raw file (or preferably a ZIP of the raw file) to a large-file hosting service like www.dropbox.com or www.skydrive.com or www.wetransfer.com or www.yousendit.com and then post the public download link in a reply, here.

You could check the settings for your monitor profile or use a system setting for sRGB. See if this link helps:

  • Why does CS6 not clear the scratch disk when all the images are closed?

The scratch disk fills up as I edit and I need to close CS6 to empty the directory.
THe result is that everything slows down!!
    Anyway this can be fixed?

It behaves as designed to support history-related features and a few other things. if you want to free things up, use Edit --> Purge.
