All my imports suddenly have no sound

I imported 3 ripped dvds into iMovie for editing a couple months ago. They were working fine until I imported 3 more yesterday. One of the second three had no sound, so I deleted it. After I deleted it, all my past imports had no sound and I couldn't watch any of my old movies. When I try to play the old movies that I made, there is just a grey screen and the music doesn't play. Please help because I can't even use iMovie until this gets fixed. Thanks

Open the Audio MIDI Setup (Utilities folder). In the lower right quarter of the Audio Devices window you'll see Audio Output Format:
Change the settings back to 44100Hz and try the files again.

Hi my 4s has all of a sudden stopped playing sound. I have a ringtone but no sound for music/movies etc. tried turning on and of and letting bat go flat then recharging. Why do I all of a sudden have no send button on any email I compose?

When I write a new email, I all of a sudden have no send button on said email; the only way I can send is by clicking on file and then send now. Yes, I have an addressee. This is the case for all emails from all providers including google and our business email @mcselections.com.

I do not know what you mean by the main menu bar of the compose window. I have a mac, so maybe the layout is different. i usually am in my inbox-there is no compose window, only a new email when i click on write. When i click on "view" on the thunderbird toolbar, and then click "toolbars", the only options i have are "mail toolbar", "status bar", "quick filter bar", all of which are checked.

Unable to hear recordings on internet all of a sudden. Checked Sound and all is good. Where else do I need to check?

one day I was listening to music and watching movies....the next day I have no sound and can't figure out why. Has any one else experienced this? Any suggestions on where to look to fix this?

Take each of the following steps that you haven't already tried.
1. If your model has an audio-out (headphone) port, and a red light is coming from it, the internal switch is stuck in the position for digital output. You may be able to free it by inserting and removing a mini-stereo jack of the proper size. Inserting any kind of tool in the port may cause damage that won't be covered by your warranty.
If there's no red light, the switch may still be stuck in the headphone position. Try to free it the same way.
2. From the menu bar, select
 ▹ System Preferences ▹ Sound ▹ Output
Check the settings. The internal speakers should be selected as the output device, the Mute box should not be checked, and the volume slider should be at least halfway to the right.
3. Launch the Audio Midi Setup application in the folder /Applications/Utilities, and select Built-In Output from the device list on the left. If any of the boxes in the Mute column is checked, uncheck it.
4. Boot in safe mode. It will take much longer than usual. You don't have to log in; just reboot as usual when the login screen appears. Note: If FileVault is enabled under OS X 10.7 or later, or if a firmware password is set, or if the boot volume is a software RAID, you can’t boot in safe mode.
5. Reset the NVRAM.
6. Reset the SMC.
7. Reinstall OS X after backing up all data as a precaution. You won't need your backup unless something goes wrong.
8. Make a "Genius" appointment at an Apple Store.
Back up all data on the internal drive(s) before you hand over your computer to anyone. If privacy is a concern, erase the data partition(s) with the option to write zeros* (do this only if you have at least two complete, independent backups, and you know how to restore to bare metal from any of them.) Don’t erase the recovery partition, if present.
*An SSD doesn't need to be zeroed.

I have no sound with you tube videos. I've updated adobe flash and still no sound. I do, however, have sound with IE.

Whoa, I found the answer by clicking on one of the questions in the "More Like This" box to the right. I do wonder how to find that box before posting my dumb question. The answer turned out to be checking the youtube volume control. I turned that up and it solved the problem for Comast as well.

How can some CD's import Ok and some import and have no sound?

I have been importing songs from CD's - some import correctly and play perfectly. Some CD's import, but they are only a few Kbs and there is no sound when they play back. Does anybody know why this is happening? It's driving me up the wall! Help!

however it sounds as if you've uninstalled the driver for your audio device. in order to fix this, go to the support section of your device's manufacturer and browse for drivers for your hardware model, download the audio drivers available and reinstall them.

Can't open movie to be edited. Also imported videos have no sound

One of my clips would not play, so i optimized it and then it worked. However today I tried to open my project and it won't let me open the entire project to edit. my project is there it just won't let me click "edit project". can i undo the optimizing thing? because now it automatically optimizes everything. I decided i would just restart but when i tried to import my video clips, there was no sound. I know that they have sound because they have been working before this big mess happened. my speakers are turned on. does anyone know how to get imovie back to its factory settings so i can get sound again or how to open my project?

Go to the map view. Click on the autoplay box and it will turn blue.
Click on the i at the bottom left of the iDVD window. This will bring up the information window where you can select loop for that box.

My apple tv was previously and now all of the sudden stopped playing sound from my macbook air via airplay

I was using airplay to stream from my macbook air on my tv via apple tv and when i paused the sound stopped and now will not resume. I have reset both and both are fully updated. Please help

also, try a diff VID format, AIRPLAY doesn’t support all VID formats (beamer does however).
I cant live without beamer, you can multitask on your Mac WHILE beaming high-def to your Apple TV, ….Airplay wont do that reliably.

Push notifications suddenly have no sound

Yesterday (12/09/12) My push notifications for Facebook stopped vibrating or making any sound. They still appear as a banner at the top of the screen but thats it. I have turned phone on & off, re-booted phone, deleted and re-installed the app and checked all settings! Nothin seems to be fixing it.

Why do I all of a sudden have xmp files?

I'm using Lightroom 5.6. For the first time I'm noticing xmp files in my file folders next to my images and in LR I notice these images now have "Sidecar File" listed under File Name in the Library's Metadata box. For all the year I've used Lightroom I've never had xmp files? What is it? Do I need it? and what do I do with it? What if I move some files out of a folder and into a different location, so I always have to make sure I also move the xmp file with it?

Thank you for the link! I've read it and it kinda opens a whole new can of worms for me. So if I understand correctly the xmp file stores Metadata because a .CR2 file cannot store the metadata inside of it. And the storage of this information with the file is necessary if you make metadata changes in Lightroom, and then later want to open that file in a different program. So if I ever decide to reorganize some of my raw files in Mac's Finder folders than all I have to do is make sure I move the xmp file along with it? Not separate them? And then my other question is does the xmp file also store the changes I made in developer? Like the white balance, exposure, lens corrections, etc...?

Why do I all of the sudden have a small box in the middle of my screen it is asking for something but I cannot do anything with the page?

The box has a gray bar and two tiny little check boxes in the middle of it. I check the post and nothing. I cannot move the page I cannot move anything as the page is frozen and waiting for me to do something with this box. I uninstalled and reinstalled and the same stupid box comes up in the middle of the page.

Try disabling graphics hardware acceleration. Since this feature was added to Firefox, it has gradually improved, but there still are a few glitches.
You might need to restart Firefox in order for this to take effect, so save all work first (e.g., mail you are composing, online documents you're editing, etc.).
Then perform these steps:
#Open Firefox ''Options'' window (''Preferences'' on Mac or Linux) as follows:
#* In Firefox 29.0 and above, click the menu button [[Image:New Fx Menu]] and select ''Options'' for Windows or ''Preferences'' on Mac or Linux.
