All my library pics are low res!! HELP!

just as the title says! i think it began after i installed the 'fatbooth' app. can anyone help??

Is there a preference within the app which allows you to export lower res photos? It is not unusual for an app to offer this (and indeed set this as the default).
Photos taken from your camera should be native high resolution. Photos synched from your computer are down-sampled so they will appear lower-res than what you might remember seeing them on your computer.
Edit: Also make sure you've not zoomed in digitally - this is the main cause of photos looking low-res!

  • Screen Saver Built in Pictures are Low Res

I just purchased this 30" Cinema Display. Really like it a lot. I wanted to use the Beach or Forest screen saver. All the pictures are low res. Is there a way to get HD picts to replace those for a great looking screen saver. The originals are very grainy. I didn't install the software in the box as I don't believe with the new systems you need to. I am hooking it up to a MacBook Pro.
    Thanks in Advance.
    Bennie

The size of the photographs used in the Beach, Forest, Cosmos, etc., slideSavers is 1024*768 and is obviously so on my 23" ACD, let alone a 30".
Interface Lift has some great hi-res wallpapers.
In the past, I've copied the Beach.slideSaver (/System/Library/Screen Savers) to the desktop, right clicked on the copy to "Show Package Contents", burrowed down to "Resources" to find the photos, trashed those jpegs and replaced them with my own. You can rename the slideSaver to *.slideSaver, copy it back to the folder from whence it came (authenticate) and/or to /Library/Screen Savers and you now have hi-res slideSavers of your choice.

  • All of my pics are blank, the outlines are there but the pics are blank. How do I get them to re appear?Ask your question.

All of my pics are blank. There is an outline but the pics are blank. How can I get them to re appear? and more importantly how did this happen in the first place?

Move the library back into your Pictures folder and open it.  Then close it and try rebuilding again.
Select the options checked in this screenshot:
If that fails continue with this:
Using iPhoto Library Manager  to Rebuild Your iPhoto Library
Download iPhoto Library Manager and launch.
Click on the Add Library button, navigate to your Home/Pictures folder and select your iPhoto Library folder.
Now that the library is listed in the left hand pane of iPLM, click on your library and go to the File ➙ Rebuild Library menu option
In the next  window name the new library and select the location you want it to be placed.
    Click on the Create button.
Note: This creates a new library based on the LIbraryData.xml file in the library and will recover Events, Albums, keywords, titles and comments. However, books, calendars, cards and slideshows will be lost. The original library will be left untouched for further attempts at fixing the problem or in case the rebuilt library is not satisfactory.

If it is still slow after removing Symantec, you may need a RAM upgrade. Yosemite can run very poorly on older machines with only 4 GB RAM.

  • Mobile images are low res and fuzzy

I dont know why all my mobile images are fuzzy. I dont see the use original size or whateve that is in the assets panel...
how do i make my mobile images be as sharp as the desktop version, but maintain their smaler size..
http://rigandkeel.com is the site. mobile and tablet versions look bad...

    Hi,
Sorry I wasn't clear enough. You need to place the image in Muse such that its width (see the control strip or the Transform panel) reads, say, 550px.
You'll also need to increase your page width to accommodate this wider image.
    Try these on your phone:
    http://museforum.businesscatalyst.com/phone/5618166a.html
    (325x217 image; pixelated in landscape)
    http://museforum.businesscatalyst.com/phone/5618166b.html
(550x367 image; looks better, but you need to scroll the page horizontally as the image does not fit)
    http://museforum.businesscatalyst.com/phone/5618166c.html
(550x367 image; page is 550px wide; looks fine and fits)
I chose 550px somewhat arbitrarily. You'll need to find the right balance between image quality and load time (particularly important on phones).

  • IPhoto pics are low resolution and small

I've got other open tickets on here, but let's try and tackle this one for now.
I recently had my IT guy here at work update my OS and as a result, destroy my iPhoto as I know it.
It imported all my pics, lost the albums, used the face recognition and doubled the size of my folders AND seems to have imported the pics at a lower resolution.
When I click on an individual picture, on the display screen it shows up small in the window.  I can zoom on it, but it looses resolution.  It's just as if they were brought in at a low resolution, and lost the high resolution.
Let me know if something similar has happened to you, I can post pics of my screen if this is too hard to follow...
    Thanks,
    JT

2 - in the finder drag the iPhoto library from the current loction in the pictures folder to the desktop
I drag it down and it starts to copy the library...doesn't delete it.  I'm assuming I can make that copy, then drag the original folder to the trash, then essentially deleting it?
Dragging the library to a new location on the same volume does not copy it but moves it and is virtually instant - if you drag it to a different volume it will copy it -  by default both the pictures folder and the desktop folder are on the same volume so you are doing something incorrectly
if it is a copy on an external drive then drag it intact as a single entity to the pictures folder on your boot drive - if it was backedup using backup software (like Time Machine or other backup software) then use that software to restore it
The key is not where it is but how it got there - if it was copied to an external drive then drag it as a single entity to the pictures folder on your internal (main) drive - the drive your system folder is on (the boot drive - the drive you boot to wheb you start your computer
    IF
you used a back up program to put it there then you use that backup program to restore it to the pictures folder on your main drive

  • Why does iPhoto convert my pics to low res?

I use an elderly MacBook (November 2007 model) with the edition of iPhoto that came with the computer. When I take photos with my digital camera and import them into iPhoto for editing, it always lowers the resolution. My original files are 300 dpi when I view them in Preview, and when I save the changes in iPhoto and export them as JPGs, even at maximum quality, the JPG files are always at 72 dpi.
Since my editors require hi-res, cropped photos, this is getting incredibly frustrating! Is there a way to make iPhoto stop doing this? Or do I just need a new computer

iPhoto doesn't change the images. The dpi means nothing at all unless you're printing. Maximum quality in the export settings refer to jpeg compression and have nothing to so with dpi.
Long Answer: Dpi means nothing in the digital world of your computer. There are no "inches" to have "dots per..." Size is measured in pixels. That's the same on your camera. It doesn't take 10 x 8 or 6 x 4 shots. It takes shots measured in megapixels. For instance 4,000 x 3,000 is a 12 megapixel camera.
Using that example, that shot from that camera has 12 million pixels. So that's how many "Dots" there are. To decide the ratio of dots per inch, you now need to decide the "inches" part. And that's printing. Print at 10 x 8 and the dpi will be 4,000/10 or about 400 dpi. At 6 x 4 then it's 4,000/6 or 660 dpi. Work the other way: Print at 300 dpi and the resulting image will be about 13 inches on the longer side.
So, your photo as a fixed number of pixels. Changing the dimensions of the print will vary the dpi, changing the dpi will vary the dimensions of the print.

  • Pics are low resolution?

Transferred some photos from my Nikon D700 to iPad. Photos are raw on camera so I'm not sure if "Photos" IOS app converts to jpg or what?
But my real question is that I then import those photos into a iMovie project that I'm working on on my iPad, and they come in all horribly pixelated. Curiously, I imported some other photos from my friend Canon point-n-shoot, and those show up fine in the same iMovie project.
Does it have to do with my source photos being RAW format? Why then do they view fine in the Photos app?

Does it have to do with my source photos being RAW format? Why then do they view fine in the Photos app?
It probably does have to do with the images being raw in that case.
My guess is that the photos are just too high resolution for the app to render them nicely.
iMovie was, rightly or wrongly, made to edit video and photos shot on iOS devices.
Apple is a little loose on supporting other formats.
My only recommendation is that you get a photo editing app (photoshop express is free).
Import the raw photos, and save them off as smaller photos.
This should save them as jpegs, and iMovie will be happier.
Most full scale editing apps on computers don't like Raw images, or very large images either.
I'm guessing that you've found the limit of what it can handle.
I spend lots of time resizing and softening photos for video edits in Final Cut Pro and Avid Media Composer.
While this is not the ideal answer I hope this helps.

  • I've only used my calendar on my Iphone 4. today i selected to sync with icloud for a back up and all my calendar appointments are gone. Help please.

I had a ton of appointments on my calendar well into next year. I thought a back up would be nice so I elected to turn on my icloud for my calendar and everything is gone.. i then turned it off but no luck.. it's all gone.. then i checked my icloud on pc and its blank too...  did i just lose everything??? so not happy right now

    Hello Ronbon13,
Thank you for the details of the calendar issue you are experiencing on your iPhone 4S.  On an iOS device, you can configure previous events to sync to your device in the Calendar settings.
If you go to Settings > Mail, Contacts, Calendars, you can set your calendars to sync "All Events" or events ranging from 2 weeks back to 6 months back.
Several settings in Settings > Mail, Contacts, Calendars affect Calendar and your calendar accounts. These include:
Syncing of past events (future events are always synced)

  • PDFs are low res even with Fixed Resolution deselected

    Motion 5.0.6
I am working on a project with a single pdf file imported from Illustrator. There are no other layers in the file, the pdf has no filters applied and Fixed Resolution is selected off. Render is set to Full resolution and Quality to Normal. For some reason the image displays in low resolution when I zoom in. Any ideas? Thanks.

When no camera is present, you simply scale the PDF image, or you can manipulate the Position.Z paramater.
Fixed Resolution is Motion's way of keeping the brakes on a file that has potential for unlimited resolution. It's a safety net designed to keep performance reasonable.
When a PDF is imported, it comes into Motion with the document dimensions with which it was created, and Motion will render it on the canvas with those dimensions and set the resolution of the image with those dimensions. As long as Fixed Resolution is checked, it will be treated as a standard image even though it might contain vector shapes.
You have the option of unchecking Fixed Resolution, which will unleash your PDF on Motion and possibly affect the performance of the application (PDF vectors can consume huge amounts of video RAM especially when scaled to very large sizes.)
Another way to go, without unchecking Fixed Resolution is to change the dimensions of the PDF document, and Motion allows you to do that from within the application.
Below is a PDF I imported. Note the dimensions of 298x278:
(The Media tab is selected and the PDF layer is also selected -- then in the Inspector, the Media tab is where you'll find these controls [along with the Fixed Resolution checkbox... for those who might not know how to get to it])
Scaling the image greater than 100% in the canvas will result in softening of the image (like any other plain image) with fixed resolution on.
Below, I have modified the Fixed Width and Fixed Height (dragging one will automatically change the other based on the Pixel Aspect Ratio setting.)  In this example, I have reset the Fixed Width to 2000.0.
I can now resize (scale) my PDF up to the dimensions I have set with Fixed Width/Height -- with Fixed Resolution still on, and still maintain a pristine vector appearance of the image (as long as the Canvas view is at 100% or less).
It still limits the PDF vectors to reasonable limits and allows you to get the smooth line appearance you expect from vector shapes.
PS - You could even take advantage of the Fixed Resolution degrading the image as it gets "closer" in view by tweaking those parameters to create the illusion of losing focus.

  • I did the 6.1.2 update and all of my pictures are deleted. HELP

The 6.1.2 update came out today for the iphone and I updated it thinking it wasn't different than the last updates, well it ended up restoring which deleted all of my contacts, most of my songs, most of my apps and ALL OF MY PICTURES AND VIDEOS  from the past year. I havent had time to sync my phone in like a month so none of my pictures are on my laptop. How can I get it all back?

Sorry, but if you didn't bother to back them up, they're most likely gone.
