All my songs get skipped over?

My iPod mini has version 1.4.1, iTunes version 6.0.5- both are current. I've updated, restored, Deauthorized and Reauthorized, even recreated my iTunes Library with no luck... as a test I dropped a MP3 into my iTunes Library and low and behold the next day it's the only song the iPod will play. Anyone have a clue what to do? is it the new update from apple? an iPod problem? a glitch in the matrix by chance? or is this just another bad product?

are you getting an error message, Odessa? if so, what does it say? include error message numbers if you're getting any.
if you're not getting an error message, describe what happens when you try to transfer songs to the ipod as best you can.

  • Certain songs get skipped

I have a 30G video ipod which I have had for almost a year. I had a problem with my powerbook, and had to reinstall everything (as I had lost all my songs). I got all my songs back onto itunes, but NOW certains songs which were NOT purchased from itunes (but instead downloaded from all the CDs I own) will not play. They get skipped over in favor of songs that WERE purchased from itunes. I have updated both my ipod and my itunes. I have resetted my ipod. All these songs play on my itunes...but refuse to play on my ipod! What is going on? I just don't have the time or energy to redownload 300 CDs into my itunes. Please help!

mines dooing the same thing!!! just stops plying?? I hope someone can tell us whats going on.......

  • HT4527 When transferring iTunes from old computer to new computer, even though all of songs were copied over, not all of them went to iTunes, some appear to be stored elsewhere. How can I find these songs, and how do I transfer them to iTunes?

When transferring iTunes from old computer to new computer, all my songs were copied over, but not all of them were stored in iTunes. It appears they are on the computer somewhere, but not on iTunes. Where are these other songs likely to be, and how can I get them onto iTunes? Because of this problem, Apple will not allow me to update my iPhone.

You may/must have had music files stored outside of your iTunes library.
I'd recommend going to the Finder and then via the search box look for files with mp3 aif m4a aac etc. depending on the music format your digital music had. With the list of files shown you should be able to learn which files were stored outside of your music > itunes folder
Chances are they could be burried somewhere under your documents, downloads, desktop, ... we all have different storage and organization habits.
Then when you find the missing files, on the new computer you can do add to library and go to the folder on the other computer where the missing files are - if your systems are networked - or sneak them over using a USB thumb drive or portable hard drive if you have lots of files, or if you like to have an extra backup of that music, copy to optical disc.

When I upgrade to IOS5 will all my songs get deleted?

Greenz has a good point.  It seems Apple does not, nor has ever had a decent solution for users that have ever had a hardcopy CD they didn't get from iTunes.  It always keeps just what was purchased from Apple and tries it's best to trash everything else unless you go through a twelve step process to as one contributor posted above, "protect yourself from yourself".
Why in the world would I need to do that...they've been in the game for too long for this unacceptable nonesense time and again.  I am not trying to harm myself--I would keep my music if up to me .  Please help to find a real and permanent fix.
I did not steal my music like some do so I would appreciate Apple not losing it.

What happens if I would like to stop using match. Do all my songs get loaded back on to my device?

Connect to iTunes on your PC and select "Transfer purchases..." from the File/Devices menu. This will add the purchases from each iDevice to your iTunes Library.

  • I had to reload all my programs after a  hard drive problem. Now certain songs are skipped over or only play for a sec or 2 then it jumps to next song. all songs played before. Some are Itune bought and some are my old music.

I had to wipe my hard drive clean and reload all my programs. After reloading Itunes, I noticed that some songs will not play, they are skipped over, or the songs plays for 1-2 secs then it skips on to next song. Any ideas what I did wrong? All songs played before and some of affected songs are bought, some are my old library I copied off of CDs

I had been thinking that the hard dri've is starting to fail on me but then I thought about the fact that, If I play an MP3 and the player freezes up or starts jumping through the mp3 file, Then I restart the player and start the same MP3 agian and this time it plays normally, Is it really a hard dri've problem?
Could be a lot of things unfortunately, from corrupt firmware, corrupt format on the disk, a problem with the mainboard, or a problem with the hard disk.
I figure that if the hard dri've was damaged it would always freeze up on the same file at the exact same point in the music wouldn't it's
Not necessarily. It could be just an intermittent fault.
I want to Format my Zen Touch and reload the Firmware to start from scratch, but I first want to backup my 28 GBs of MP3 and WMA files. However I noticed that when I transfer the files to my hard dri've, all the ID3 Information is gone. Now adding ID3 info to 28GB of files will take days!
Strange. Did you edit the tag data on the player? If so what happens is the tag data changes are made in the Music Library but not in the files themselves. There's only one way to write the changes back and this involves getting a copy of MediaSource 3. You then transfer the files back to the PC Music Library, and use an update function to update the files (the PC Music Library will have the same tag data as the Music Library on the player). One problem is that MediaSource 3 is very large, and not available from Creative as a download. I can try and get a copy to you if you can't find it elsewhere.

  • I was having issues with my 80G Video iPod and had to restore it, but now it seems all of my music on it previously is "corrupt" . How did all my songs get corrupted and how do I fix them?

I was having issues with syncing my 80G video iPod, so I restored it, and now all my songs in my library are "corrupted" and I can't get them back on my iPod. I keep getting error(-69). How did my songs all get corrupted, and how do I fix this without having to purchase these songs all over again?

Go to the iTunes Store, log into your account, and click the Purchases link under the Quick Links. From there you should be able to re-download some or all of your purchased content. Note that not all content has been licensed for re-downloading in all countries at this time; you can see what content you can download here:
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT5085
You can also re-download content using an iOS device.
    For more information, see:
    http://support.apple.com/kb/ht2519
This if course will not apply to songs you did not buy through the iTunes Store.
    Regards.

  • ITunes 7 installed and now all my songs are skipping

I am using Windows 2000, service pack 7. I have installed the latest version so I can use the new NIKE + IPOD features. After installing/uninstalling reinstalling etc. my songs will not stop skipping. I have tried everything including all suggestions from this forum. Has anyone had a similar problem? Any suggestions?

Try holding down the Shift key in Windows when launching iTunes 7. In the resulting dialogue you will get the option to create a new library or navigate to an existing one. The default location for your iTunes library is in \Documents and Settings\Username\My Documents\My Music\iTunes\. Look in there and see if you have more than one library file (they have the extension .itl) If you have more than one try opening them in turn, you may find your original library is still intact.

  • TS1424 I recently purchased two albums on iTunes, and most of the songs just skip over on my iPod. How do I fix that?

I don't know what else to do... can someone please help me?

two of the songs do not play and they just skip to the next track.
If your country's iTunes Store allows you to redownload purchased tracks, I'd delete your current copies of the tracks and try redownloading fresh copies. For instructions, see the following document:
Downloading past purchases from the App Store, iBookstore, and iTunes Store
Otherwise, I'd report the problem to the iTunes Store.
Log in to the Store. Click on "Account" in your Quick Links. When you're in your Account information screen, go down to Purchase History and click "See all".
Find the items that are not playing properly. If you can't see "Report a Problem" next to the items, click the "Report a problem" button. Now click the "Report a Problem" links next to the items.

  • After the software update for iphone 4 iso5, my ipod part now doesn't play songs or skips over them

    please help!

I have the same problem. I believe it is either caused by a low battery ,or time, perhaps as long as 48 hours. The purchased songs seem to play fine numerous times for at least one day.
The solution offered does not seem to address the fact that the purchased songs actually play on the IPOD mini for a period of time, even while disconnected. As soon as I connect to the computer and update, it will play the songs again. I believe it is a bug in the software that Apple needs to correct. Does anyone else have similar problems that they have positively corrected?

  • I recently had to get a new harddrive for my computer and lost my itunes. But i have a ipod touch and was wondering if i just download itunes again and sync it with my ipod would all my song and apps be transfered over?

I need to know if i just downloaded itunes to my new computer and synced it with my ipod touch if all me songs would transfer over?

No, they won't transfer over, however, there are third party PC/Mac programs which will transfer the content of your iPod to your computer. Just do a Google search on this topic and you will find them (e.g. senuti)

  • My iPod touch is skipping over certain songs it used to be able to play, help?

It started a little over a week ago. It was after I had downloaded the recent update, I was listening to music and skipped this one song when I noticed it skipped over two. Then I tried playing one song and it skipped over that one and the next completely. I skipped back and it wouldn't play the song I had orginially wanted, but did play the one after it that it had skipped over. I've tried turning it off and reseting it. I'm at a real loss here because I thoughted it would be just a glitch and go away, but at this point I'm really fed up. I have a feeling it has to do with the recent updates since it use to play the songs it skips over now just fine. The songs have almost nothing in common and so far I've found it's about a donzen or so it skips over.

    Try:
    - Reset the iOS device. Nothing will be lost
Reset iOS device: Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
    - Unsync all music and resync
    - Reset all settings
Go to Settings > General > Reset and tap Reset All Settings.
All your preferences and settings are reset. Information (such as contacts and calendars) and media (such as songs and videos) aren’t affected.
    - Restore from backup. See:
    iOS: How to back up
    - Restore to factory settings/new iOS device.
If still problem, make an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store since it appears you have a hardware problem.

  • IPod Classic not syncing all my songs from iTunes

Background: I've had my 160GB iPod classic for 5+ years and been using iTunes for close to ten years. I'm using Windows 7 on my PC and up until recently I've been updating both iTunes and iPod whenever updates are available. After the horrible experience of upgrading to iTunes 11 and trying for over a month to get used to working with all the annoying bugs and compromises in functionality that Apple stupidly introduced into what was once a really good piece of software, I decided a week ago to downgrade to version 10.7. I went thru all the necessary steps to make this downgrade work, eliminating the various error messages, etc, and it appears now that my earlier version of iTunes is fully functional.
But when I connected my iPod to sync new songs, I kept getting a message to scan and fix the disc on my iPod. I wasn't sure if I should do that so I ignored the prompt a few times. Then last night I decided to restore my iPod and start from scratch. The disc error message has gone away, but now it is not syncing all the songs it is supposed to.
Af far as I know there are no broken links and all the songs in my music library are located within iTunes, so that is not the issue. There may be some songs with the same title and artist but that appear on different albums, so those should not cause a problem. At this point I have too many songs to fit on my iPod so I have selected to sync only checked songs, and I have unchecked over 1000 songs in iTunes, so that when I connect the iPod, it doesn't tell me that there is not enough free space to sync the iPod, it just syncs the checked songs.
Before restoring my iPod, I had 14161 songs in iTunes, with 1105 of those songs unchecked so as not to sync them in the iPod. I did the math and that left 13056 songs that are checked, and that was how many songs showed up in the iPod after syncing it, with about 1GB of free space left on the iPod.
Now, after restoring my iPod, I get only 13009 songs showing up in the iPod, meaning 47 songs are missing (with exactly 1.4GB free space).
How can I troubleshoot this to find out what songs are missing and why, and then fix it? Is there an easy way to approach this daunting task? I am really fussy about my music library and am not the kind of casual user who just loads a bunch of stuff on my iPod and doesn't care if there are duplicates, broken links, missing songs. I manage my own library very assiduously each time I import new music and make sure it is tagged and filed correctly according to my own system. I want to fix this issue.
Could it be a problem with me using a newer version of the iPod updates with an older version of iTunes? And is there a way I can correct that, possibly downgrade the iPod software version I have now? Would it be worth the trouble to try restoring the iPod again, and if so, what precautions do I take to prevent the same thing happening again, where not all my songs get synced to the iPod.
Thanks to anyone who can offer some helpful advice...
