All new pages from hyperlinks open in new tab.

All links I click always open in a new tab. I mean, really ALL links, even links which do not use target='_blank" or something like that. I don't press Ctrl key. All was fine until yesterday and I haven't explicitly changed any configuration. Maybe there is a configuration I've changed by pressing a conbination of keys unintentionally, but I can't find anything in the configuration about that (about:config). This is not a problem with an ad-on. I have tried starting in safe mode, resetting, and reinstalling.
Firefox version 27.0.1, on Windows 8.

I started having this problem awhile back. Don't remember exactly when. 4-6 weeks maybe. It steadily got worse. It became chronic.
I tried re-starting Firefox with Add-ons disabled.
I tried re-setting Firefox.
I have always ran Firefox with the Menu Bar displayed. 4 days ago I changed that to not display the Menu Bar.
Instantly my links started working OK. No more "new tab". I ran that way for 24 hours and then changed the display back to show the Menu Bar.
My links continued to open OK and have remained that way for the past 48 hours. Not one time has the problem came back.
I am running Win7 Professional SP 1. Firefox 28.0.

Pages died today. Just downloaded the latest update 2 days ago. Last night shutting down my very new MacBook Pro Retina, Pages stopped shut down. Today Pages will not open, all my Pages docs cannot open. Help please! Anybody have a fix?

You probably have 2 versions of Pages on your Mac.
Pages 5 in your Applications folder, will open Pages '09 files but will alter/damage them. It can not open Pages '08 files.
Pages '08/'09 in your Applications/iWork folder which can not open Pages 5 files.
When you were shutting down you probably had an unsaved document open.
You probably are opening the wrong versions of Pages to open the wrong document format.
Pages 5 has had over 90+ features removed.
Most users are going back to Pages 09 whilst Apple sorts this out.

  • Is there a way to get all new tabs to open to the right of all extant tabs?

I just upgraded from to 3.6.10 and now when I open a tab by right-clicking on a link in a current tab, the new tab opens somewhere other than the far right end of all the tabs I have open.
I want all new tabs to open to the right of the tabs I already have open, just like they used to with the previous version of Firefox I was using.

Type '''about:config''' in the URL bar and hit Enter. <br />
''If you see the warning, you can confirm that you want to access that page.''
    Filter = '''browser.tabs.insertRelatedAfterCurrent'''
Double-click that preference to change the value to '''false'''

    Hi...
    Open System Preferences > General
Deselect:  Restore windows when quitting and re-opening apps
    Restart your Mac.

  • When i want to return to my home page I click on the home icon and it resets the page to my home page but also open a blak tab which i don't want how can I stop this as i have too many tabs open.

When I want to return to my home page after looking at a website I click on the home icon and it resets the page to my home page but also open a blak tab which i don't want. How can I stop this as I have too many tabs open and have to close all of them.

You may have an unwanted extension that is modifying sites (or the toolbar area). Try this:
Disable ALL nonessential or unrecognized extensions on the Add-ons page. Either:
    * Ctrl+Shift+a
    * orange Firefox button (or Tools menu) > Add-ons
In the left column, click Extensions. Then, if in doubt, disable.
Usually a link will appear above at least one disabled extension to restart Firefox. You can complete your work on the tab and click one of the links as the last step.
    Does that flush the tab?
Please report back on anything suspicious you find so others can learn about its bad behavior.

  • How do I make all new tabs open with my home page?

When I open a New Tab, it opens with a blank page.
Is there any setting which will force each New Tab to open with my Home Page?

New Tab in Home Page: You can modify Firefox with an extension, though I personally would not want that at all, before dismissing a tab I make sure there is nothing in the tab in a backward direction, and would consider looking at anything but a blank page for a new tab as a distracting encumbrance but you can do what you ask for.
    with the following:
    *NewTabURL :: Add-ons for Firefox<br>https://addons.mozilla.org/firefox/addon/newtaburl/

  • Opening a site from Bookmark Toolbar in a new tab steals focus eventhough all new tab behaviors are set to not steal focus.

When I open a site from my [Bookmarks Toolbar] (feeds) in a new tab, the site is opened in a new tab and FF switches to it.
I have already unchecked [Options]~>[Tabs]~>["When I open a link in a new tab, switch to it immediately."].
I have also set [browser.tabs.loadBookmarksInBackground] to true.
The bookmarks/feeds open new tabs in the background properly, but opening the site from the bookmark toolbar does not.
Is this a bug? Is there a setting I am missing to fix this?
Example of what is happening now:
    {Left Click} [Bookmarks Toolbar]
    {Mouseover} [xkcd.com] (expand feed folder)
{Middle Click} [Open "xkcd.com"] (at top of list of feed links)
xkcd.com site now opens in a new tab and FF switches to it.
I want the site to open the in a new tab in the background like the feed links already do with my settings.

Works for me if I middle-click a bookmark on the Bookmarks Toolbar and browser.tabs.loadBookmarksInBackground is set to true.
Start Firefox in <u>[[Safe Mode|Safe Mode]]</u> to check if one of the extensions or if hardware acceleration is causing the problem (switch to the DEFAULT theme: Firefox/Tools > Add-ons > Appearance/Themes).
*Don't click the Reset button on the Safe mode start window or otherwise make changes.

  • Tabs set to open on launch. Now showing all 'New Tabs'

Launched Firefox, all tabs now just have the title 'New Tab', and show a plank page with nothing in the address bar.
They aren't showing in closed tab history, there is no page to go back to on the tab, they are just blank, as if I had just opened one, only without the tile screen.
Anyone have an idea as to how to get them back?

    Yep, that's the setting
Tried safe mode, still nothing. Seems that the data of the tabs open has been changed to be just blank tabs somehow.

  • When restarting firefox after a crash, how do I stop it from re-opening all web pages that were open at the time of the crash?

When firefox crashes, or if it hangs and I have to kill it, then when I go to restart it, it tries to re-open all pages that were open at the time it crashed or was killed. This is incredibly annoying, especially if one of the visited pages caused the crash or hang. It is also really annoying if some of the web pages happened to require passwords to log in, from multiple sites. In my case this occurs as I am frequently logged into multiple online educational web sites like ucsc-extension.edu and berkleemusic.com. In the login case you get multiple login prompt pop-ups with no way to correlate which pop-up goes with which web page. If there are a lot of them then it's a hopeless mess. This behavior is something that I never ever want and it infuriates me that not only is it the default behavior, it is something that there seems to be no way to turn off, at least via the configuration menus. Am I wrong? Is there a way to turn this off? If not can somebody either make it configurable or get rid if this fantastically idiotic behavior?
I suspect there's a command line option for this but on my Mac (or most systems these days) it's sort of "unnatural" to be starting programs like browsers by means other than a provided program start-up icon, which gives you no choice about the command line options.
Besides, as a default behavior the current behavior is something I cannot conceive of ever wanting. I would rather have a poke in the eye with a sharp stick.
    == This happened ==
    Every time Firefox opened
    == firefox crashed

    You can try this.
In the address bar type about:config you will be warned that this is dangerous.
    Search for browser.sessionstore.resume_from_crash
Double click on true to toggle it to false.
    Exit the page.
Firefox will now NOT try to reload websites after a crash.

  • How do I make all new tabs open on the far right?

I do not want to use tab groups, or have a tab open to the immediate right of current tab. Whenever I open a new tab I want it to open to the right of all other tabs.

Type '''about:config''' in the Location Bar and hit Enter.
    ''Accept the warning message.''
At the top in the Search bar paste this pref.
'''browser.tabs.insertRelatedAfterCurrent''' = then lower on this pref double-click to toggle to '''false'''

  • Firefox 12 doesn't load bookmarks in sidebar, home pages don't open, undo closed tab won't work.

Firefox 11 worked fine. Firefox 12 seemed to install too fast. Now, when opening Firefox, bookmarks don't load in sidebar, even though the top of the sidebar says "bookmarks." Home pages won't load on opening Firefox---only a new tab. Clicking on the little house icon opens the home pages. Display closed tabs icon is dark and Undo closed tabs won't work. Sometimes the toolbar with File, Edit, View etc goes so dark it virtually disappears. I have Vista OS. Reinstalling Firefox 12 didn't help. Is there a fix, or can I go back to Firefox 11?

Do a clean (re)install and delete the Firefox program folder (C:\Program Files\Mozilla Firefox\).
Download a fresh Firefox copy and save the file to the desktop.
    *Firefox 12.0.x: http://www.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/all.html
Uninstall your current Firefox version, if possible.
*Do NOT remove personal data when you uninstall your current Firefox version, because all profile folders will be removed and you will also lose your personal data like bookmarks and passwords from profiles of other Firefox versions.
Remove the Firefox program folder before installing that newly downloaded copy of the Firefox installer.
*It is important to delete the Firefox program folder to remove all the files and make sure that there are no problems with files that were leftover after uninstalling.
Your bookmarks and other profile data are stored elsewhere in the Firefox Profile Folder and won't be affected by a reinstall, but make sure that you do not select to remove personal data if you uninstall Firefox.

  • Clinked Hyperlink opens in two Tabs?? Captivate 3

Got an interesting issue that I have not seen before
in Captivate 3. An imported .ppt slide deck that has hyperlinks on
several of the slide is opening the links, when clicked, in two
browser windows or two browser tabs. any Ideas on how to resolve? I
can add click boxes over the links and those open in a single
window/tab without issue but really do not want to do that for all
    hyperlinks.
    Thanx in advance,
    Jim

    Hi Jim
Click Box and Button objects should pause the slide until the
user clicks. This is their default behavior. Once the user clicks,
they often carry out two actions.
    * They perform the action assigned
    * The click releases the pause and the slide continues play
If you have used a Button object, these are OCC (One Click
Chumps) all you get is a single click. If you have used a Click Box
object, you may repeatedly click them and the action will be
carried out time and time again.
If you have pointed either one of these at a URL, you should
edit the properties of the object. Specifically, look to the right
of where you typed the URL. You should see a small button with a
down arrow on it. Click this button and you should see an option
    labeled
New. Choose this option and the link should open in a new
tab or browser instance. But if that's all you did, the page would
open and play would continue on your Captivate. So what you have to
do is to click the button a second time and ensure you DE-select
the option labeled "Continue Playing Project". If you do this, the
project should stay put until you return.
    Cheers... Rick

  • Since downloading Yosemite, Safari will close itself out at times and I loose all the pages I had open.  How can I stop this from happening?

Since downloading Yosemite, Safari will close itself out, when I reopen it all of my pages are gone.  How do I stop this from happening?

But if iit won't stay open, then it's quitting unexpectedly which is the same as a crash.
There has to be a reason for that which a crash report should reveal.

  • "Mail Link to This Page" from Safari Opens Message Behind Mail's Window

When I use this function in Safari, sometimes the new message window opens up and then immediately disappears behind the main Mail windows. Sometimes it doesn't. I can't discern a pattern.
    Any ideas?

    Was a MailTags plugin issue.

  • I downloaded Firefox 4 successfully, but it did not incorporate all my info from previous version (history, bookmarks, tabs, etc.). How do I combine the two?

Current download of Firefox 4 successful, but it did not include info from the previous version such as bookmarks, history, tabs and the like.

I am currently using version 3.6.3 because it has all the information that I need to use the internet. version 4.0 did NOT incorporate all history and so forth (including tabs, bookmarks) when I downloaded it, as previous downloads had. I will continue to use the older version until someone can help me figure out how to merge the information from the older version with the newer one. The posted answer was greek to me and did not help.
