All of a sudden, background images are poor quality in distilled PDF

Exporting through XMPie to Postscript, all images in PDF are bad when distilled back to PDF. Any ideas?

Well let's see. High Quality Print, Press Quality, FieryOptimized, Standard, and don't know what else.
Yes they looked good before. The art is .ai vector. I tried a couple different formats. Just noticed I have had two jobs in a row doing this.
Preferences Page Display: smooth line art, smooth images are both checked.
Hmm. Exporting from the InDesign page to PDF produces a good PDF. Exporting (spooling) with XMPie and then distilling produces a bad PDF. I'll have to start digging when I get a few minutes. Could be an XMPie question if I get the same results with different distiller settings.

How are you exporting your Images?
Which Image Export Preset are you using?
What are the settings for that Image Export Preset? (Sometimes the settings are not properly described by the name of the Preset.)

All of a sudden my icons are big and everything is low res

All of a sudden my icons are big and everything is low res as if it in safe boot mode. I did not safe boot my computer. I have shutdown & restarted and it is the same. Could it be a virus?

First hold the Control key and scroll or swipe down to make sure that your display is not just zoomed in.
If that does not return the display to normal, go to System Preferences > Displays > Display tab and check the Resolution:

if you don't want your yahoo contacts, go to settings - mail - yahoo - then turn off the contacts

All of a sudden my podcasts are 'frozen' . . . I can't select them and the text is gray, not black.

On the padcast playing screen on the right side below the scrubber bar is the playback speed icon. It can say 1/2X, 1X or 2X, those are the playback speeds. Tap the icon to change speeds.

Open your messages app, click menu - settings. Should be an option in there to change if group sms comes in as mms. Not certain this is the fix for you, but worth a try.

Background images are not rendering while they are in all other browsers.

Firefox is having problems with certain .jpg images that I have uploaded to a hosting service.
(Ex: http://img838.imageshack.us/img838/3991/hbbgardenorangepop3.jpg)
When you set this image as your web page's background image, the image will not be rendered. However, if you go directly to the URL, the image will be rendered (except in the Beta release, where the image won't even render when you go to the URL directly).
However, if you go to ANY other browser, the image is rendered correctly (both when you go directly to the URL and when you use the image as your background).

I assume that you want to add that image as a background on web pages.
How are you adding that background image?
Are you using code in userContent.css ?
If that is the case then please post the code, otherwise provide the steps so we can check what goes wrong.

I tried clearing cache, looked at about:config for weird configurations, did a private browser window and disabled all extensions. None of these had any effect.
Test pages: Amazon.com and https://developer.mozilla.org/samples/cssref/background-image.html - both of these pages have background images loaded by CSS. For example, Amazon's logo at the top left is a background loaded from a CSS page. The image itself can be viewed raw:

But why, why why do these images display on their relevant webpage? I see Amazon, eBay, and many other websites without a full complement of images. Especially the ones used for menus and other important navigation buttons.
Here is what I see on the Mozilla page mentioned above: I see the text, but no repeating star image. This works in other browsers and on other computers in Firefox.
The page I am typing on right now has no blue background, the entry windows are not correct (like the search window is not a rounded gray box) and the search magnifying glass is missing. So this experience makes even simple pages impossible to use.

Finally got bullets to work, and now my background images are jacked?

This has been frustrating me all freakin' day. I was having the worst time trying to get my bullets to work correctly, and finally assigned a div in my external CSS, and then they finally decided to work. But now, which I believe to be some sort of padding issue, some of my background and border images are just WAAYY off like in the attached picture.
Any help with the code would be greatly appreciated, as I am still learning, and Ive managed to take a template and make it look halfway decent (from the visual side of things - Im sure the code is a complete mess).

The bottom of the intro page looks like that when it should be flush. I cant figure out what I jacked to fix it and I cant figure out why the bullet points/new div would even affect it in that way.

I figured it out through trial and error.
I had not closed some div tags and they were causing my footer to be way above where it should be.

Win 7 laptop does not load background type images in either Firefox or IE.
XP laptop shows background images while using page info/media tab.

I've tested my site on multiple browsers and everything seems fine, apart from IE - which only displays the menu's background image when the user is on that current page. Can anyone help me out, please?

I'm not sure but I did find two things you should change:
In your html change:
<li><a href="index.html">home</a></li>
to
<li><a href="/">home</a></li>
And in your CSS add this:
html { height:101%; overflow:scroll; }
That will force a vertical scroll bar and keep the shorter pages from jumping around.

All of a sudden my bookmarks are gone, and I don't have the little firefox in my upper left hand corner

I have had firefox for about a week, Really getting used to it. All of a sudden my toolbar with my bookmarks aren't there. The little square in the upper left hand corner that said firefox isn't there either. In the passed I had clicked on that and enabled my fire fox bookmark. When it gave my instructions to fix this I was suppose to click on the firefox, but now it isn't there to click on.

Poor quality text in PDF

I am using Acrobat pro X to produce an online brochure. I started producing the brochure in Corel draw using A4 paper size in landscape mode. When I created the PDF by the print command the general quality was very poor, both graphics and text. I experimented with various settings increasing the quality settings for images but it didn't seem to have any significant effect. I then tried placing some of the elements in a Word document and creating a PDF from this document, and again I found that the results were unsatisfactory, a bit better than from Corel but not very good. I have converted many Word documents to PDF in the past without problems. I started a new Word document and this time copied a template for a landscape brochure from Microsoft. This was already populated with some Text-and-Graphics. When I created a PDF from this it was quite good. It was not clear to me what the difference between my basic word document and this new one was. I went through the documents’ settings with a fine tooth comb and the only one I could find was different was the paper size and orientation. I then copied some of my graphics and text to the word brochure document, and this to converted nicely to PDF. I took a note of what appeared to be a somewhat unusual paper size and copied this to the Corel document. When I created a PDF it was now significantly better all the paper size was wrong. I went back from scratch with both the word document and the Corel draw document (those which produce bad PDF files) and carefully made sure that the paper size and orientation in the document matched the PDF settings. But the result was still poor in this case. It is not clear to me what is causing the problem although it does seem to be mainly text, the graphics are often okay. The text however is extremely patchy looking and very poor quality.
In the Acrobat settings I started with "high quality print" default setting and edited this. When I selected the fonts section there were no fonts selected for embedding. This surprised me as I would have thought high-quality print would automatically embedded all fonts. I selected the fonts in my document and embedded them and saved the settings, but when I went out of this dialogue box and straight back in it showed up with no embedded fonts. What's happening here? Is it for getting about my font selection? Or does this dialogue box when you re-enter it not reflect the current settings? Furthermore when I completed my modifications to the "high-quality print" default settings it asked me to save them as a new job options file which I did, but when I go to print a second time it never gives me the option of selecting these saved settings.
I have tried almost every permutation and combination of settings page sizes et cetera and I now tearing my hair out trying to figure out how to simply get a reasonable quality PDF file. Any assistance on these matters would be greatly appreciated.

I am using Corel V 13 and Windows 7. The issue is not confined to Corel as I am also getting poor results often with Word as described. I also need to know about the font embedding as described above. Is it the case that if the fonts are embedded this
guarantees they fonts display sharply in the PDF? i.e. do the scatty fonts in the PDF prove I am not getting embedded fonts?
Corel does have a printer driver compatibility setting where you can set the target printer, but the PDF virtual printer is not available in the list.

How to delete background image areas like in ps

I have a jersey layout which consists of front, back, left arm, right arm and shoulders. Each are can be individually selected in AI. I can change colors, strokes add images pretty much anything except what i can do in ps. In ps i can have the background as a specific layer. Then select the areas of the jersey then invert and delete the remaining portion of the background from the background layer. I CANT FIGURE OUT HOW TO DO IT IN AI cs6. I appreciate any and all feedback, suggestions, links to tutorials or flat out instructions on how i can accomplish this task. I have to do this in AI because there are certain images and backgrounds i need to image trace to blow up to size of jersey. I make it work by importing after editing as much as possible in PS.
The magic wand in PS i can select specific area of jersey, magic wand in AI will grab each point after I have image traced it. Hope you guys can help.

The mere purpose of image tracing if im not correct is to allow the transforming of an object to be larger without losing clarity.
What I have done to "correct this" and I realize its not exactly what was looking for but serves the purpose nonetheless, ive found 2 different steps to achieving the final look.
1st way: creating a false background.. did all the work and had another top layer that appeared to be the background but infact is the foreground
2nd way: i just deleted anything outside the individual section with the eraser.
together it worked out perfectly. im still not entirely convinced there isnt a way to do it but have wasted way too much time looking and searching.
