All of a sudden Firefox (3.6.10) is very sluggish/slow and hangs up
I've been using Firefox (very actively) for over a year now and all of a sudeen (yesterday) it began to act very sluggishly. On sites I have always visited frequently it hangs up for periods of 15-90 seconds or more, won't scroll down, won't open hot links, slowly opens new tabs ...
I rebooted my PC (multiple times), powered down my modem and router, ran a Norton dsik optimization - essentially making sure it was not an outside factor effecting Firefox's performance. (Note: I am using a cable connection.)
I then ran a side by side speed comparison with Internet explorer (on my 2nd monitor) going to the same web sites, and IE had no problems/hang-ups.
FYI I only have a couple of add ins/extensions (Java, Microsoft Framework, Norton, No Squint, & RealPlayer) and none of those are new within the past few weeks at least.
Any ideas on what could be causing this? How to fix? (As I much prefer Firefox to any Microsoft product.)

Yes, FF gets sluggish from time to time. Sorry but it's the fact! FF also cannot render some websites properly (especially v3.6.10). I'm a big fan of all Mozilla software but FF 3.6.10 makes me very disappointed.

I do not know what happened, all of a sudden Firefox does not want to work anymore. Had been conected to audible. Retried about 4 times.... no luck had to force quit every time. The three Firefox app. into garbage, emptied garbage and redownloaded new version from Firefox. Reinstalled but same thing happened again... no connection.
What can I do, I like Firefox better than Safari, had it for years on my Mac.
Please let me know.

I think it might be the problem with one of your plugins.
Try to uninstall the webbrowser AND remove the storage from Firefox in your user-account (Linux: /home/username/.mozilla). You can check the list of installed Add-Ons in Firefox under "Extras => Add-ons" or by pressing Shift + Strg + A (Linux). -
All of a sudden firefox wants me to update from 3.6 to 6.something - what happened to 4 and 5? - and I don't know what google cupcakes are, but I don't think I want them - I like simple; help.

Could someone help me the last few days my firefox has been running so slow and hanging up I uninstalled and reinstalled but still doing it its so slow that I can run like 5 windows in ie with no probs but not even one in firefox I even uninstalled and reinstalled and no luck

This kind of issues are, unfortunately, more common and the we'd like. Thankfully, 99% of the cases are very easy to solve. However, you do need to diagnose what your exact problem is. Do this:
#run Firefox in [http://support.mozilla.com/en-US/kb/Safe+Mode safe-mode] to disable all extensions, themes and plugins. If this fixes your issues, be them with RAM or CPU usage, then you know it's a problem with plugins, themes or extensions. Proceed to number 2. If safe-mode doesn't fix the issues, then read bellow, after this list;
#update all extensions, themes and plugins in your Firefox. If this doesn't solve the issues, proceed to the following number;
#disable all extensions, themes and plugins in your Firefox (not running safe-mode). Being certain that, as in safe-mode, the problems you're having have gone away, enable one plugin at a time. You should be certain that you WANT that plugin to be enabled, so keep your overall number of plugins as low as possible. When you encounter the problems, you know you've found a problematic plugin, so disable it for good. Keep enabling all plugins (except problematic ones) until you've gone through them all.
#enable one extension at a time. Again, be certain that you WANT that extension to be enabled, so keep your overall number of extensions as low as possible. Also, try the theme you want to have installed so see if that is what's causing the problem. When you encounter the problems, you know you've found a problematic extension/theme, so disable it for good. Keep enabling all your extensions (except problematic ones) until you've gone through them all;
#you're done! You've fixed your problems with problematic add-ons. If you want to keep using those problematic add-ons, please contant their author for support.
Ok, if disabling all extensions and plugins through safe-mode didn't work to bring Firefox's CPU and RAM usage to good levels, then you have different issue. The most likely scenario is that you have a third party software running on your computer that is messing with Firefox. Do as follows:
#try reinstalling Firefox. No data will be lost. You can get the latest version for free at [http://www.getfirefox.com/ getfirefox.com]. If that doesn't fix the problem, proceed;
#do a virus/malware check on your computer. If this doesn't fix it, proceed;
#disable all software running in the background that you don't want to have running in the background (in windows, this is done by pressing WINDOWS+R in your keyboard, typing "msconfig" (without the commas) and pressing enter. Now, under the "Startup" tab, you can uncheck the software you don't want, and reboot your system for changes to take effect. If you're unsure of what software you want running, ask someone with more experience). If this doesn't fix your issues with Firefox, proceed;
#check your firewall/antivirus/security suite for enabled functions/features that you don't want and/or may be conflicting with Firefox. You'll find that these features are most likely tied to Internet Security features, such as link scanners or URL checkers and the like. If you're not sure they are conflicting with Firefox, simply try to disable them to see whether or not that's true. As long as you don't browse the web with your antivirus completely off and your firewall completely turned off, there should be no problems. If this doesn't solve the issues, proceed to the following number;
#check your operating system security options, mainly advanced options that are not configured by default. While it's very unlikely that this may be the cause of the problem (after all, it's the last item on the list), it's remotely possible. If this doesn't work, proceed to the following point;
#update your modem/router software. There have been some reports that some modem/router software may cause Firefox and other browsers to loose performance and/or stability. If updating doesn't fix your issue, try other versions of the software, if possible. If you need support with this, contact your modem/router manufacturer. If this doesn't help, proceed;
#clean up your OS registry, using appropriate software. Make sure you've followed my instructions correctly, but if this all doesn't work, [http://support.mozilla.com/en-US/kb/Managing+profiles create a new Firefox profile] (this can be temporary, of course) and see if the issues persist. Report here the results, so we can't help you further. -
We just moved from the United States to Costa Rica. The first two days my mac worked great. Then all of a sudden I was trying to use a game application and the screen went black and there is a white cursor which I can move around, but I can't escape it. When I restart it seems okay and I see my main screen, but only for a second and then it goes black again.

The Apple TV should set it's time automatically from the network time server, if it isn't doing this try restarting the Apple TV by removing ALL the cables for a 30 seconds, if this fails try resetting or restoring it. -

You may want to look at Knowledge Base Document #58042 on A flashing question mark appears when you start your Mac.
Do you have access to another Mac? You may want to backing up your files via Target Disk Mode (TDM) as well as running some utilities (Knowledge Base Document #58583 on How to use FireWire target disk mode.
You may want to invest in a utility like DiskWarrior from Alsoft. It is great for troubleshooting drive malfunctions.
As said before, you may also want to bring your iBook to your local Apple Store/Reseller.

Video blog works with safari, but all of a sudden firefox NOTHING
Hey gang.... www.danhproductions.com.....on the demo video section always came up no problem...just noticed on my firefox it will not show the video blogs and says at the bottom:

HOWEVER, when I log onto the website with safari, shows everything no problem. Why is that??? what can I do to fix this issue? I have also been told pc users sometimes windows explorer FREAKS out crashes their computer...and yes, I have to forwarded/masked to my mobileme account...
Any thoughts, suggestions, solutions is GREATLY appreciated.

DanLooks like this problem is back again in Win7 WinXP with Firefox 12. Browser does not shut down completely all the time. Keeps running in the background and consumes more resources the longer it runs. When you try to start it again, the icon on the desktop highlights for a bit and then nothing happens. Happened with a previous version - Firefox 9 perhaps? last year. Problem was fixed last year with an update. Suspected a memory leak at the time. Think your memory leak is back with Firefox 12. I can always shut it down via Task Manager in WinXP / Win7. Upon restart, sometimes it comes back with last page loaded instead of the home page. Hope this helps a bit. Cheers -

We bought this itouch for our daughter for Christmas (2011), It has worked fine all this time until now. All of a sudden it will not connect to our home wi fi. All the other ipods/iphones/laptops and desktop are connecting fine so I know it is not the router itself. I have tried all the standard troubleshooting tips (forgetting the network and resetting it on the ipod, turning it off an on, plugging it in and updating the software, we even restored it completely from itunes as a new ipod). It lists the network as available but then when you try to connect it just sits there with the little circle icon thing spinning, trying to connect but never does.Please help!
So you also rebooted your router correct? Does the iPod still connect okay to other networks?

You should really start a new discussion because many times people will not even look at a solved post. It's one thing if you read the post and the solution works for you, but to add onto a solved post, especially when you have a different problem than the original person that posted, you might not get the help that you need.
I will give it a try. Close the iBooks app and reboot the iPad.
Double tap the home button and you will see apps lined up going left to right across the screen. Swipe to get to the app that you want to close and then swipe "up" on the app preview thumbnail to close it.
Reboot the iPad by holding down on the sleep and home buttons at the same time for about 10-15 seconds until the Apple Logo appears - ignore the red slider if it appears on the screen - let go of the buttons. Let the iPad start up. -
Since I upgraded to the latest iOS7 upgrade, my computer has all of a sudden introduced 'keychains' and is asking for a keychain password. It has totally messed up my icloud and I can no longer see my shared calendars or notes. I can't even log into icloud. How do I delete these keychains and keychain popups from my computer? It's making my Mac act like a PC and I don't like it! LOL

I need to remove the default Firefox bookmarks.
There are way too many and none of which are usefull to me.
Also, I am vision impaired and reading through such a long list is very eye-fatigueing to me.
I would like to make my old IE Favorites folder the default. How can I do this?Did you import an iPhoto Library from the old Hard Drive? Do you still have that old Library?
The way to clear out a Library is to Export the photos - Apps like iPhoto2Disk or PhotoShare will help you export to a Folder tree matching your Events.
For the annoying start-up message:
Go to your Pictures Folder and find the iPhoto Library there. Right (or Control-) Click on the icon and select 'Show Package Contents'. A finder window will open with the Library exposed.
Look there for a Folder called 'Import' or 'Importing'.
Drag it to the Desktop. *Make no other changes*.
Start iPhoto. Does that help?
If it does then look inside that folder on your desktop. Does it contain anything you want? If not you can trash the folder. -
Firefox will open and then "freeze" (Says Firefox not responding). Have to attempt to close from lower bar and then get message from Windows - options

When I click on either option I have to wait "magically" Firefox will "pop" alive. May stay responsive for full session or may again "not respond" when I try to access another site.I have also found that unchecking the "Use hardware acceleration when available" option solves this issue. This option is in the Advanced section, under the General tab.
