All of a sudden I can not play or hear video nor will windows explorer open. This has started recently.
When I go to the you tube website it opens but when I try to play a video all I get is a black box and no way to start the video. Also suddenly IE will not open on my computer.
Yes it is because you recently upgraded.
iPhoto 08 is looking for QuickTime 7 and 10.6 has QuickTime X.
Solutions: Install QuickTime 7 - it's an optional install on the 10.6 disk
or
Upgrade to a later version of iPhoto.

I have had this iMac for 5 years and have had zero problems with it , I run the lastest software (not mountain Lion) and all of a sudden I can not play downloaded videos that have been sent to me. What can I do ?
Either launch VLC (assuming you have installed it) and then open the file you want to view from within VLC, or, select the file (don't open) you want to view and do Command+I and from the window that appears select VLC from the 'Open with:' option.
You can make this the default if you wish by also clicking on the 'change all' button. -
My MOTO X was working fine, then all of a sudden, I can not receive text messages. I have checked the settings and they look correct to me, and I have done everything the web site recommends, except wiping the phone and starting over, to try and fix it. Has anyone else had this issue, and how did you resolve it?

But a great hint is- Always click on the [Create a Saved Book] button, early in your new book design.
Then you have a permanent link to the book in the Collections panel. (In addition to the standard collection of your selected images)
Note: a Book Collection shows an icon that looks like a book.
Every time you come back to edit the book, open the Book Module by clicking on the white arrow that appears on the end of your Book Collection title. (The title as saved)
Re-opening a book without using the "Saved Book" option can have unpredictable results.
A "Book" Collection is like a "Smart Collection" because anything you do to the book design, change pages, change images, etc, is automatically updated in the Saved Book collection. -
i copied itunes from a pc to an external hard drive then copied it to itunes on my laptop it loaded all songs but can not play songs

HP desktop computer can not play Blu-ray DVDs. Who is responsible for this?
In 2010, I blought an HP Pavilion Elite HPE 250-f desktop computer (running Windows 7). This computer was advertised as having a Blu-ray DVD player, as well as players for regular DVDs and CDs. All these years, I've been successfully playing regular DVDs and CDs. Until now, I have not attempted to play a Blu-ray DVD.
I recently rented the "Divergent" Blu-ray DVD (as well as the "Divergent" regular DVD) from my local library. When I tried to play the Blu-ray DVD, the HP MediaSmart software and the Windows Media Player detected the Blu-ray but were not able to play the Blu-ray.
I then downloaded the Media Player Codec Pack, http://download.cnet.com/Media-Player-Codec-Pack/3000-13632_4-10749065.html This Codec Pack was supposed to help Windows Media Player play the Blu-ray. That did not work. When I got rid of the Codec Pack using System Restore, HP MediaSmart and Windows Media Player became unable to detect the Blu-ray in the Blu-ray drive. After another System Restore, HP MediaSmart and Windows Media Player were once again able to detect the Blu-ray (but were still unable to play the Blu-ray).
I then downloaded Cyberlink PowerDVD 14, which played the Blu-ray for only about 7 seconds before crashing. I then got rid of Cyberlink PowerDVD 14 with a System Restore.
I downloaded TotalMedia Theatre version 6.0.1.123. However, this software did not detect the Blu-ray. I then got rid of TotalMedia Theatre with a System Restore. After that, I was not able to play ANYTHING, including CDs and regular DVDs. CDs and regular DVDs were not being detected by playing software. After another System Restore, I was once again able to play CDs and regular DVDs. However, I do not want to risk trying to play the Blu-ray again.
So, what's going on here? HP advertised this computer as having a Blu-ray DVD player. Wasn't HP responsible for providing software that could play Blu-ray DVDs? And why is the Blu-ray DVD, sometimes detected, and sometimes not detected, by playing software? Is there some kind of hardware issue?

You're not going to get any help from HP or Microsoft on a 4 year old computer. Maybe your optical drive is no longer able to play Bluray discs. Windows 7 Media Center with Bluray playback was not included in all versions of Windows 7. Each computer with Bluray has an individual license; yours may have expired after not using it for 4 years. Best advice - don't flog a dead horse. Just get regular DVDs. -
All of a sudden I can not listen to my itunes or watch my movies nothing happens
I've not upgraded to the new operating system, but movies and music are just not playing at all. They are all there but when I click on them nothing happens. Another strange item is that my speaker icon in the upper right corner won't let me raise the volume.

Clear the cache and the cookies from sites that cause problems.

Can not play the music videos on i tunes
i try to play my music videos on i tunes, i have sound but no picture, i can play tv shows , movies but no music videos which i purchase from i tunes store. any idea why this is happening?
is your ipod set to auto sync? if it is, you cant listen to those songs on your computer. if you want to listen to songs that are on your ipod on your computer, set it to manually sync or whatever. that should work.

Suddenly, as of two weeks ago, iTunes will no longer play any music. I tried reinstalling but this did not work either. I have a PC with Windows Vista. Has anyone else experienced this problem and fixed it?
Yes, I just tried playing a 10-second mp3 file I acquired from The Oatmeal and didn't once pass my external hard disk. It's a simple, monotone, high-frequency sound, but I get the same results: VLC's UI is still responsive, but its functionality freezes up, i.e. the buttons are still animated, and the menu still works, but there's no sound, the progress bar doesn't move, and the file doesn't play.

Firefox suddenly can not play any media (video, NPR programs, etc)
Recently, without a reason I can point to, I can no longer play videos on YouTube or listen to NPR programs.
I have seen another post that suggested that it is the fault of a recent Flash update, but everything works fine in Chrome and IE on this same computer.
I have uninstalled Firefox, rebooted and reinstalled w/o change in behavior.
I am running windows 7.Would these replies/fixes apply to Win Vista system too? ff14, ff15, both slow as molasses loading web pages. They both seem to hang for a while, then start loading again. Flash ?? Give me a break. Updated to 11.3 when instructed to by updates procedure, then to 11.4. Neither one of these will load/play videos. Keeps "buffering". By the way, there was something about Flash incompatability with Real Player on the Adobe website. Who owns Shockwave Flash? Is it same as Adobe Flash?
