All of my contacts disappeared!!

for no reason! All of my contacts are wiped and replaced with a very old set of email addresses!! not even the contacts on my home comp. My favorites are gone. just the numbers are left with no names. ***?? I have no Idea why or how or how to get my numbers back. I sync regularly and back up to the cloud. this should not be happening. One thing is that I just recently upgraded to iOS 7, like a month ago.
the only thing I can think of is that I went down to 1% in battery life, which is lower than I usually go but I never actually ran out of power. the phone did not shut down because of lack of power.
HELP, I need all my numbers back!!

It is probably too late now, but give this a try anyway:
Quit Address Book.
In folder ~/Library/Application Support/AddressBook drag file AddressBook.data to the desktop. Rename AddressBook.data.previous to AddressBook.data and restart AB. If your contacts are not back quit AB again and repeat the drag/rename process, this time with AddressBook.data.beforesave.
If it doesn't work, try Andreas Amann's Mailscripts to harvest all the email addresses in your mail folders.

Assuming that you backed up prior to deleting your contacts, navigate to Settings > General > Reset > Erase all contents and settings on the device you want to restore.
When this completes and the Set-Up Assistant starts, choose "Restore from iCloud Backup" and enter your iCloud account and password. You will see the three most recent backups for each of the devices on which you enabled Backup. Choose which backup to restore from.
The difficulty in restoring iCloud data from a back up is that the back up is older than the current version on iCloud and anything that is restored gets removed again when an iCloud sync occurs.
Ensure the device is connected to your local network.
Start the restore from iCloud back up.
Allow the devices settings to restore (watch for the confirmation of completion).
As the apps begin to restore pull the connection to your router WAN port (the one that goes to the telephone point).
Wait for the time out confirmation.
Navigate to settings > iCloud and turn off contact syncing (keep contacts when prompted).
Reconnect the router to the internet and let the restore process complete.
Delete any iCloud contacts from iCloud.com on a computer.
Navigate to settings > iCloud and turn on contact syncing (merge contacts when prompted).
May I suggest that you carry out a back up to iTunes before you try anything, that way should things become even worse, you can at least restore back to where you are now.

When I did this, my phone starting syncing again and restored the new backup and set that as the backup...no contacts or text messages...please tell me there is a way to correct this.

Where you synced your music there is a tab that says Apps. When you click your device on the left in itunes and it tells you the serial and phone number, just aboved hit the apps tab and choose to sync them again.

The notes section in all of my contacts disappeared. how do I get them back? Help!

All of the notes in my Contacts dissapeared. How do I get them back??!! I rebooted my phone. Also, although my iPhone 4S is marked in settings to back up my contacts to iCloud, there were NO contacts saved...now what...?

Option 1
Back Up and try rebuild the library: hold down the command and option (or alt) keys while launching iPhoto. Use the resulting dialogue to rebuild. Choose to Repair Database. If that doesn't help, then try again, this time using Rebuild Database.
If that fails:
Option 2
Download iPhoto Library Manager and use its rebuild function. (In Library Manager it's the FIle -> Rebuild command)
This will create an entirely new library. It will then copy (or try to) your photos and all the associated metadata and versions to this new Library, and arrange it as close as it can to what you had in the damaged Library. It does this based on information it finds in the iPhoto sharing mechanism - but that means that things not shared won't be there, so no slideshows, books or calendars, for instance - but it should get all your events, albums and keywords, faces and places back.
Because this process creates an entirely new library and leaves your old one untouched, it is non-destructive, and if you're not happy with the results you can simply return to your old one.

All but 3 contacts and some pics disappeared from my iphone 4. I am getting pics of people I don't know showing up now. Help?!

I had my phone stolen last month and had it immediately shut off and flagged as stolen. Redid passwords also. I have my son's old iphone 4 and had my info transferred to it. Verizon was able to switch it over and all my contacts and pics showed up. Now all but 3 contacts disappeared and the old photos. I am getting pics of someone else daily on my phone now. Can someone please help me!?

I think I am following -- I was able to upload to my iPhoto and all photos and videos are there that is a plus! I tried to create an Event in my iPhoto and put all of my photos in that event but for some reason, now my iTunes it not recognizing that Event in my iPhoto. It is not allowing me to import just that event at the moment but I may be doing something wrong. At least all of my pics and vids are in iPhoto so that is a plus and I know they are at least saved somewhere. Just for some reason, my iTunes it not locating the event that I created with only those photos.

Also, I had no clue that my iCloud could be backed up via cellular data! However, is this a new feature with the most updated iOS?? Unforutnatly I am like 2 iOS updates behind because I don't have enough storage on my phone. I still get the notification that my phone needs to be plugged in and connected to wifi in order to back up to the cloud :-(
How can I sync using USB? Right now when i click on the info tab for my iPhone in my iTunes this is the answer that I get -- I am a little unclear as to what it means.

Why have my contacts disappeared and been replaced with some Facebook friend names?

A few days ago, all of my contacts disappeared and were replaced by the names of SOME of my Facebook friends. None of these have any telephone contact information, it's all email addresses associated with those Facebook friends. For instance, my husband's name, emails and phone numbers were all deleted from my contacts - help!

Look under iTunes>Preferences>Devices...is there a backup listed for her phone? First thing done when you sync is an iPhone backup. If you have not synced since screwing her phone up, restoring from that backup(if it exists) should restore her content. Do not sync after you restore her phone, eject it. So, first disable auto-sync on that same device pane in iTunes before you proceed. If this doesn't work, is your sister bigger than you? If so, run 'cause her data is gone .

Contacts disappeared--how to get them back from iCloud?

All of my contacts disappeared from my iPhone 4S--doesn't seem to be in response to a particular thing I did, they were just gone one day. I logged on to iCloud from my computer, and they are still listed there, but I couldn't see a way to get them back onto my phone. Can someone help?

if they are not there they are lost. however if you had a previous apple device like an iPhone or ipad etc. they may be on those devices.

All of my contacts disappear from my contact list. And when I tried to add a new contacts, it will duplicate into 5 to 6. It only allows me to store one name....if I store more, it will overwrite the earlier contact. Either way, it will still duplicates. Strangely, when someone from my previous contacts list SMS me....it will show the sender's name, together with the message history. However, if I were to look for his name ......say under D letter, it's just not there. I wonder if anyone out there experienced the same way I did. When I reboot the phone, upon starting up....it displays a message "uncaught exception: java.lang.NullPointerException" and the only options given was to press ok. Could this be the problem?
My bb is curve 8900. As this has cost me so much problem in my work and business, I wld appreciate any feedback or solutions from anyone of you guys. Many thanks.

i have ever experienced same kind of problem...
maybe because i did a mistake when i entered the email setup, so i re-setup my email address (and the network was down)...i shouldn't have to verify contacts from my email setup...
then i downgraded the OS with 5.0.0.681 and it works as usual..
but, i lost all of my contacts....
if you often backup your data, it will help to get your contacts again..

If you have an Icloud backup, sign in to your account. It will reload your contacts. If over a computer, use a previous device backup, or in the sync menu of your devce, go to mail and contacts and select the info you want to copy to your iphone, if you have the contact info on your computer. If by chance dont have icloud, or a previous backup to itunes, then I'm afraid that your contacts are gone. This is why I went to Icloud as soon as I got ios 5. Hope this helps

I have two iPhones and an ipad, everything is up to date.. I originally had an iPhone 3GS and an iPad2. I got an iPhone 4s and did a factory restore on the 3GS and gave it to my daughter.. All of the devices are on the same iCloud account with the contacts syncing option off.. My problem is that I was writing an address down one morning from my contacts in my iPad when all of the sudden the contact disappeared! In fact all of my contacts disappeared and were replaced with my daughters. I checked on my 4s and the same thing had happened, all my contacts were gone and replaced with my daughters.. I did a restore on my 4s yesterday and got my contacts back only to look today and they were gone again.. *** over?

well make sure the contacts are turned off for the phone you gave your daughter in icloud because when she deletes a contact from there, they delete from the rest of the devices, make her her own apple id just for icloud to prevent this issue

My contacts disappear after going to "Groups" on iPhone 5

Every time I press the "Groups" button under Contacts, all of my contacts disappear. Any ideas?

I have the exact same issue. It, too, resolved when I turned Contacts off in my iphone 5 ICloud settings. When asked, I chose to Keep the Contacts on my phone and then selected the Merge option when I turned Contacts back on. I also had checked my Groups before I noticed that 12 Contacts were not syncing from the cloud to my phone. I think it's a glitch with the Cloud or with the iOS 6 Contacts app, not with us, personally. I wonder if Apple is aware of this.

Every few days some of my contacts are just gone.

I have the same problem, All of my contacts disappear when I try to add or edit something. At first I thought it was some problem with .mac sync, becasue I would get an error when I tried to restore them from sync. I disabled sync for contacts but still they disappear when I use the Address Book. I may try disabling sync altogether and see what happens.
I have a backup that I have to keep restoring "revert to backup" but it's gettting annoying.
Let me know if you find a fix. I'll do the same if I find one.

All of my contacts and calendar information has disappeared. This is not the first time this has happened, and when it happened in the past I just turned on my contacts in the iCloud in "settings." This didn't work this time and I was curious if anyone can help me restore the missing info. and/or tell me why they randomly disappear every now and then.

It's hard to say what would cause that but I doubt you are doing anything wrong. They only way you could intentionally make you contacts or calendars disappear is if you either turn off iCloud syinc for contacts and calendars in Settings>iCloud or signed out of your account.
If it continues to happen, you might want to completely sign out of your account, then sign back in. To do this, you would want to start by saving any photo stream photos that you want to keep to your camera roll (unless already there) by opening your my photo stream album, tapping Select, tapping the photos, tap the share icon (box with upward facing arrow), then tapping Save to Camera Roll. Then go to Settings>iCloud, tap Delete Account, provide your password and choose Delete from My iPhone when prompted (your data will still be in iCloud), then sign back in.
