I updated to yosemite and I didn't back up my iphoto. Now all of my photos are lost. I really need them back. Please help

I have this issue too, I selected the upgrade photos and now I have a 200GB library file but no way to access the photos, it appears to be something to do with the 10.10.2 upgrade and the use of an external Thunderbolt drive to store my photos on, but I am nearing desperation in trying to get back my years of photos (last effective backup - despite having time machine turned on) - appears to be 2012.

Yosemite, iPhoto 9.6 upgrade, large photo library is not recognised.
But it is outrageous that a 'minor' upgrade that was not meant to be about iPhoto could have such drastic outcomes. It must be relating to the file service changes they were doing or the work they were preparing for the new photo app - either way, not happy!

Not all photos in iphoto are syncing to ipad

I hope someone can help me with this! I noticed that not all of my photos are syncing to my iPad (original) anymore even though I have "sync all" checked on the photos tab of my iPad in iTunes. I have recently uploaded pictures from my sd-card onto my MacBook Pro from the little reader slot as well as photos from my iphone. All of these photos are organized into Events in iPhoto. My camera is about a year old so I've uploaded pictures many times before, but there are also pictures from two other cameras in the library. There are pictures from the newer camera that HAVE synced onto the iPad. For example, we have a ton of pictures from our trip to California (one event in iPhoto) last spring in which half of them show up on the iPad and the other half do not.
Also, if relevant, my iphone is about 2.5 years old (holding out for the new version!), and it seems like some of the pictures from the phone are synced onto the iPad from iPhoto and some aren't.
My ipad and laptop both have plenty of space for the pictures so I don't think that's the issue.
Advice I've seen so far...
After searching through these boards and googling the issue, I've read a lot about deleting the iPod Photo Cache, but I don't know if this is really for the same issue.
Additionally, I found a post on another site that mentioned an issue if the images have the same file name. It doesn't seem to matter to iPhoto if the names are the same, but it sounds like it may matter to the iPad (according to the one post that I read)? If that's the case, I don't know how I would ever prevent this from happening because my DSLR will always number the pictures in order, which is what my Point & Shoots did as well. I'm pretty sure that's standard for all cameras. If I were taking a few pictures every so often, it wouldn't be a big deal to change the names of each image, but when I'm loading 500 pics at a time, which is generally the case, I can't rename them all.
Help with this is much appreciated!

If the file format is compatible with the iPad, the photos should sync. The camera will name the files automatically as far as I know and if you never changed the names before - and simply imported the photos into iPhoto, that shouldn't matter.
Deleting the iPod Photo Cache folder seems to work for many, many users with this problem. There is no guarantee that it will work, but it is easy to do and it's harmless since a new photo cache folder will be created when you sync again.

In ios 7, all of my settings are lost if I disable and then enable Restrictions.

In ios 7, when I set various settings under Restrictions (In General-Settings-Restrictions), all of my settings keep getting lost whenever I disable and then enable Restrictions. Is there some other way to 'toggle' restrictions on and off? I want to be able to toggle my restrictions on whenever I give my phone to my child, but when I click on 'Enable Restrictions', it clears all of the restriction settings I just set!

Time Machine Backup - All JEPGS & PSD files are lost

I have backed up all my photos (JPEGS & PSD Files) on my external hard drive before re-installing the operating system.
My machine is up and running again.
When I inserted my external hard drive in the USB port, a back-up was made on the time machine.
I can’t seem to find any JPEG files on my external hard drive,
the specific folders are all still there with a thumbs.db file in each folder.
Would you be able to tell me where all my JPEGS (photos) have gone?
Is there anyway I can retrieve these photos?

OK the scenario you have described does not sound good. Selecting that same external drive to be your Time Machine drive may have resulted in that drive being re-initialised meaning that you have lost whatever data was previously on it.
If you view your Time Machine drive through Finder and you only see a folder structure similar to the following image where is shows a folder named Backups.backupdb (as mine appears, though ignore the "OWC Icons & Shareware" folder as that is specific to my drive) then I am afraid that the files and folders that were previously on it would have gone.

Switch Linked (xl source) Tables - behavior change Excel 2010 PP vs. Excel 2013 PP -- In 2013 all calcs of table are lost

Situation:
PowerPivot 2010 Model based on 10 linked tables (this tables are generated and refreshed as needed by SQL 2012 MDS Excel-AddIn)
Unfortunately Excel MDS AddIn changes sometimes the tablename (case: MDS Add-In Filter changed, MDS Server changed). So after Change of tablename we have to fix the powerpivot link to this Excel tables in powerpivot to get powerpivot refresh working again
Problem:
With Excel 2010 PowerPivot this was possible without big Problems. As Long as table has identical structure one can Change/Switch the table in powerpivot Windows > Ribbon "Linked" Table > DropDown "Linked Table X" or during update
via Dialog "Errors in Linked Table"
After upgrading the solution to Excel 2013 this is not possible any more without loosing any column- or measure calcs defined for this table! :( Every time you Change the assigned Excel table for an existing linked powerpivot table..you
get following Dialog:
"You are changing the source of X to Excel table Y. Changing the source will remove all formatting, measures, KPIs, hierarchies, and other Settings applied to the table. Are you sure you want to to continute?"

Dear MS, this is IMHO really a step backwards and blocks the migration of our existing Excel 2010 PowerPivot Solution? Should i create a connect entry for that?!

I assume that MDS creates a new table every time you refresh it thereby breaking the link to PowerPivot
in case you only have calculated measure you may created a separate, independent linked table and define all calculated measures there
this way they at least would not get removed

All of my bookmarks are lost, I need them back

I tried to update Real Player. It worked but it put Google chrome as my search instead of Mozilla and the current Mozilla went into safe mode. I restored my computer it took out Google chrome and replaced Mozilla but there is still a tab in my start up that has Mozilla in safe mode. I clicked it the screen came up. I checked all the buttons but it won't come out of safe mode. I can still use Mozilla but all my bookmarks from months of research are gone. Is there anyway to get them back. I don't have them all writtten down and some took me to specific places. Please help!!!!!!!!

You may need to act quickly to rescue your bookmarks, but do not act in haste, remember you must make manual backups as you work, otherwise you are in danger of inadvertently overwriting useful sets of bookmarks.

How do I make sure all pics on iPhoto are in my back up drive?

I have a iMac 24" dual core thing. I have an external 1tb hard drive that's labeled "my back up photos". In reality, I "think/want" all my photos stored only on that back up and not on my computer. I have a LOT of photos and don't want to chew up my computer's memory/speed/whatever by overloading it with pics. I've got 23,000 pics and 74GB of space used for them. Not sure how big that is but I think it's sizable. Anyway...I can't remember how/where to tell the iMac whenever I plug in my photos and download them in iPhoto to have them stored on the external and pull from there when running.
I hope that makes sense. I think this is an easy question?? any help is appreciated. Thanks.

1. Quit iPhoto
2. Copy the iPhoto Library from your Pictures Folder to the External Disk.
3. Hold down the option (or alt) key while launching iPhoto. From the resulting menu select 'Choose Library' and navigate to the new location. From that point on this will be the default location of your library.
4. Test the library and when you're sure all is well, trash the one on your internal HD to free up space.
Note: This is now your Library. It's not a Back Up, and you need another disk for backing up.

Time Machine doesn't back up anymore due to a failure during copying. Get this message for several weeks. And all my back ups are lost!

Can anybody help me, because suddenly all my back ups on the the time capsule are gone, and time machine cannot make any back up due to a failure during copying. I already installed the latest firmware on the time capsule, but nothing seems to help. I also changed the back up disk to the HDD in my Mac (programs and mavericks are running on an SSD. Hope someone can help me out.

Check the TC disk with finder. The sparsebundle should still be there.. simply open it from Finder and mount the backups.

I would also recommend you do a verify.. A5 in the reference above.
TM is problematic on Mavericks.. some of the problems are due to its poor networking.
Exactly how is the TC setup?? By that I mean is it wired to the main modem and doing either router or bridge?
Is the computer using wireless to the TC? If not please make sure the wireless connection is via the TC and not via modem router or extender.
I strongly recommend you reset the TC to factory. No files are deleted.
The Factory Reset universal
Unplug your TC/AE. Hold in reset. and power the TC/AE back on.. all without releasing reset and keep holding in for about 10sec. The time is not important.. it is the front LED rapid flashing that indicates you are in factory mode.
Release reset.
If it doesn’t flash rapidly you have released reset at some point and try again.
Be Gentle! Feel the switch click on. It has a positive feel.. add no more pressure after that.
TC/AE will reboot after a couple of minutes with default factory settings and will wipe out previous configurations.
No files are deleted on the hard disk.. No reset of the TC deletes files.. to do that you use erase from the airport utility.
Redo the setup of the TC.. please use all short names, no spaces and pure alphanumeric. Do not use the names the airport utility setup wizard will recommend to you. eg TCgenx (base station name.. x can be a number which is your gen TC). Wireless name.. TCwifi.
Wireless Security will be WPA2 personal and use 10-20 character pure alphanumeric password with mix of case and numbers.
Reset TM as per A4 in the Pondini reference above.
If you still have issues.. manually mount the TC in the computer.. in Finder use Go, Connect to server.
AFP://TCgenx or AFP://10.0.1.1 (where you replace my example name with your actual name.. or replace the IP which is default with your actual IP).
The computer should find the network resource and request a password. Type that in (your disk access password) and save it in the keychain.
Then try again with TM.
Strongly also recommend even if you get TM to work.. it is problematic on Mavericks.. buy CCC or one of the other 3rd party backups.. With CCC you can do a bootable clone to a USB drive.. easily the best way to get a dead Mac going again.

There are 9 different versions of iPhoto and they run on 9 different versions of the Operating System. The tricks and tips for dealing with issues vary depending on the version of iPhoto and the version of the OS. So to get help you need to give as much information as you can. Include things like:
- What version of iPhoto.
- What version of the Operating System.
- Details. As full a description of the problem as you can. For example, if you have a problem with exporting, then explain by describing how you are trying to export, and so on.
- History: Is this going on long? Has anything been installed or deleted? - Are there error messages?
- What steps have you tried already to solve the issue.
- Anything unusual about your set up? Or how you use iPhoto?
Anything else you can think of that might help someone understand the problem you have.

My boss lost his blackberry.... all blackberry sent item are lost....

he is very angry now because he replied some very important in the blackberry but now it all lost....
for those incoming email, he still have a copy in his AOL webmail account, but for those AOL mail replied in the blackberry... it didn't sync to the AOL sent item....
is there any way that we can get back those sent item ???

Did your boss ever do a backup of his/her device? If so, you can restore that backup to a new device.
If he never backed, no.
AOL accounts do NOT reconcile email and messages such as sent from the BB.

"BACK" button returns to previous page and all informations written before are lost (only blank fields)...

Condition type: PL/SQL Expression as shown above should work.

My MacBook is new to me and I have put hundreds of pictures in iPhoto. I opened my computer one day and all photos in iPhoto are gone. Where are the picture and how are they returned to iPhoto?

I installed itunes 11. It takes 100% of cpu and GUI is not responsive for minutes at a time. Keystrokes are lost in the search box because of this. This worked fine in previous release. I have 4300 albums and 70k songs.

I have an itunes library of 4000+ albums and 70k+ songs. Worked great until itunes 11 today. Now, when ever I go to the search field and type 1 character, I go to 100% CPU busy and all the other characters are lost. "itunes not responding" for a couple of minutes.
Also happens when I am importing a CD from physical media, and I switch to music and try and find another album. Gui becomes unresponsive and activity monitor ends up reporting "Itunes (not responding)".
How go I go back to the working itunes?

Thanks. That was it I don't know why it got changed during the upgrade to iTunes 11.
However, it still takes 5-10 seconds for this menu to appear, with the cpu at 100% one core. Seems like iTunes should support multi-threaded/multi-core processing, especially for the GUI.

The library is damaged in some way.
Download iPhoto Library Manager and use its rebuild function. This will create a new library based on data in the albumdata.xml file. Not everything will be brought over - no slideshows, books or calendars, for instance - but it should get all your albums and keywords back.
Because this process creates an entirely new library and leaves your old one untouched, it is non-destructive, and if you're not happy with the results you can simply return to your old one.

All of my iphotos are lost.
