All open apps re-launch when I hit send on an email

This strange behavior started since I upgraded to Mavericks and has persisted thru 10.9.3 and 10.9.4.
I click on the "send" button on an email and out of the blue, all apps and finder re-launch automatically. That email is still sent, but the apps re-starting is pretty annoying because I'm not prompted to save any changes in any of them.
It's like I'm logged-out and logged-in automatically.
This is not happening with every email sent, but just randomly.
Any clues?
Thanks!

☞ Launch the Console application in any of the following ways:
☞ Enter the first few letters of its name into a Spotlight search. Select it in the results (it should be at the top.)
☞ In the Finder, select Go ▹ Utilities from the menu bar, or press the key combination shift-command-U. The application is in the folder that opens.
Open LaunchPad. Click Utilities, then Console in the icon grid.
The title of the Console window should be All Messages. If it isn't, select
SYSTEM LOG QUERIES ▹ All Messages
from the log list on the left. If you don't see that list, select
          View ▹ Show Log List
from the menu bar at the top of the screen.
Each message in the log begins with the date and time when it was entered. Scroll back to the time you noted above. Select the messages entered from then until the end of the episode, or until they start to repeat, whichever comes first. Copy the messages to the Clipboard by pressing the key combination command-C. Paste into a reply to this message by pressing command-V.

My iPad mini won't update my apps.  I have closed all open apps and done multiple resets.  I hit update and the screen is blank, even though the bubble shows 14 to update.

If you are getting the blank app update screen, many people are having this problem over the last couple of days.
According to Fly150 in another discussion, this will work.
If you want to update the Apps while waiting for Apple to fix Updates:
    1. Go to App Store
    2. Select Purchased
    3. Select All
    4. Scroll down to find the Apps showing update
    5. Select update on the Apps
This should update the Apps and get rid of the update count in App Store. Apple needs to fix this. It is a workaround only until then.

The format keeps changing but the basics remain...in the center of the screen are large images of the recent apps which you can close by swiping up and away.

  • Possible to use Autmator to quit all open apps?

Is it possible to use Autmoator to quit all open apps?
I'm looking for either a script, or a utility, that will quit all the apps I have open at one keystroke (apart from hitting the shutdown button)
The "FunKeys" utility used to do this, but it's not compatible with Intel Macs.
    Any help greatly appreciated, thanks.

You can use the following AppleScript in a "Run AppleScript" action and save it off as a Finder plug-in to give you a contextual menu.
I have put in a test to prevent Script Editor from being quit. That could be removed if you need it to be.
click here to open this script in your editor<pre style="font-family: 'Monaco', 'Courier New', Courier, monospace; overflow:auto; color: #222; background: #DDD; padding: 0.2em; font-size: 10px; width:400px">tell application "System Events"
set theProcesses to name of application processes whose background only is false
repeat with i from 1 to count of theProcesses
set thisProcess to item i of theProcesses
if (thisProcess is not equal to "Script Editor") and (thisProcess is not equal to "Finder") then
    my QuitProcess(thisProcess)
    end if
    end repeat
    end tell
    to QuitProcess(thisApplication)
    tell application thisApplication
    quit
    end tell
    end QuitProcess</pre>

  • All my apps were deleted when i downloaded ios7

All my apps were deleted when I downloaded the IOS7 update.  I can open them from the apps icon but they do not show up on my screen.  HELP!

i just answered another question with the same problem...
anyway, try sync you iphone with itunes
if that doesn`t work, try retreiving all your shops in itunes (file>dispositives> retrieve your shops) - my itunes is in portuguese, i actually don`t know exactly the words of the menu, but if you try u can find it
if none of that works, try logging out of your itunes account on your phone... after that log in again, and try to download the apps you have purchased.
none of that works, try restoring it with a previous backup, if it doesn`t work, do it from scratch!

  • Is there anyway to close all open apps at once?

Is there anyway to close all open apps at once?

Unfortunately, there is not a way now to close all apps at once. You will have to close them one by one.

  • How do I close all open apps in iOS 7?

I want to close all open apps on my iPad 2 iOS 7. I used to click twice quickly on the start button then do the same on one of the apps and they would all then appear with a minus sign whereupon I could tap each one and it would close. This doesn't happen now. How can I close open apps in iOS 7?

Close all apps in the multi-task window
    1.Double-click the Home button.
    2. Swipe the app's preview up to close it.
    3. Preview will fly off the screen.

  • How to close all opened apps?

How do you close all opened apps? I do not think sliding the app card off the screen closes the app, so how do you completely close them?

    Direct answer: you can't.
Here is what the User Guide says:
To close an application or a screen, in Card view (see Manage
applications in Card view), throw the card off the top of the screen. If
cards are in a stack (see Work with stacked cards), you can only throw
    one card at a time.
You close the apps by throwing the card away, plain and simple.
@direstrates:  Are you asking how to kill all running apps with one command?  Only way I know how is by doing the two-finger reboot.

  • Not all open apps in dock show as active

Using 10.5.4... and I think this problem dates from the update.
I have a bunch of apps icons permanently in the Dock, but not all open apps show with the 'open' indicator below.
And some programs open, and do not appear in the Dock at all.
    What can this be?

    Hi.
Have you tried trashing the Dock's preference file? Username > Library > Preferences > com.apple.dock.plist?
If you do, you need to restart your computer afterwards.

I selected "update all" to update my apps, entered my ID and they all went to "waiting" and none of them started updating. Tried shutting down (several times), it was plugged in, I closed all open apps...tried uninstalling and reinstalling 1 app and it still is waiting? Thoughts?

See if any of these suggestions help you. They have worked for others in the past but YMMV.
Reboot the iPad by holding down on the sleep and home buttons at the same time for about 10-15 seconds until the Apple Logo appears - ignore the red slider - let go of the buttons.
Make sure that you do not have a stalled download in iTunes - a song or podcast .... if you have a download in there that did not finish, complete that one first. Only one thing can download at a time on the iPad so that could be what is causing the problem.
If that doesn't work - sign out of your account, restart the iPad and then sign in again.
Settings>iTunes & App Store>Apple ID. Tap your ID and sign out. Restart the iPad by holding down on the sleep button until the red slider appears and then slide to shut off. To power up hold the sleep button until the Apple logo appears and let go of the button.
Go back to Settings>iTunes & App Store>Sign in and then try to update again. Tap one waiting icon only if necessary to start the download stream.
You can also try deleting the waiting icons - tap and hold down on an icon until it wiggles - the tap the X on the icon to delete it. Then try to download again.
You can try resetting all settings. Settings>General>Reset>Reset All Settings. You will have to enter all of your device settings again.... All of the settings in the settings app will have to be re-entered.
If all else fails, download the updates or the apps in iTunes on your computer and then sync the content to your iPad.

  • When i send an imessage from my computer, when i hit send, the reciever gets it, it shows up on my phone, but not on my computer, it just disappears

a while back i was in a group chat and was spammed with thousands, yes, thousands of texts at once. when i started up my computer, imessage attempted to load the messages. Now, when i send a message it will show up on my phone, but i cant see it on my computer, when i hit send it just vanishes. this is an improvement from months ago however, when my messages wouldnt even send. im running 10.8.5.

Please read this whole message before doing anything.
    Back up all data.
    Quit Messages if it’s running.
    Step 1
Hold down the option key and select
    Go ▹ Library
from the Finder menu bar. Move the following items from the Library folder to the Trash (either may not exist):
    Caches/com.apple.Messages
    Caches/com.apple.imfoundation.IMRemoteURLConnectionAgent
Leave the Library folder open. Log out and log back in. Try Messages again. If it works now, stop here. Close the Library folder.
    Step 2
If you still have problems, quit Messages again. Go back to the Finder and move the following item from the open Library folder to the Desktop:
    Messages
Note: you are not moving the Messages application. You’re moving a folder named “Messages.”
Test. If Messages now works, delete the Messages folder on the Desktop. Otherwise, quit Messages again. Put back the folder you moved, overwriting the newer one that may have been created in its place, and continue.
    Step 3
In the Preferences subfolder, there may be several files having names that begin with any of the following strings:
    com.apple.iChat
    com.apple.ids
    com.apple.imdsmsrecordstore
    com.apple.imessage
    com.apple.imservice
Move them all to the Desktop. There may also be a file with the name "com.apple.imagent.plist". Move that to the Trash.
Also in the Preferences folder, there's a subfolder named "ByHost". Open it and do the same thing.
Log out and log back in. Test again. This time Messages should perform normally, but your settings will be lost. You may be able to put back some of the files you moved to the Desktop in this step. Relaunch and test after each one. Eventually you should find one or more that causes Messages to malfunction. Delete those files and recreate whatever settings they contained.
If the issue is still not resolved, quit Messages again and put all the items you moved to the Desktop back where they were. You don’t need to replace the items you moved to the Trash. Stop here and post again.
If you later decide that you don’t like the results of steps 2 and 3, you can undo them completely by quitting Messages and restoring the items you deleted in those steps from your backup.

Are you able to email from Mail with those two accounts?  If so:
1 - go to iPhoto's Accounts preference pane and delete both accounts. Now add them back and try again.
2 - a better solution IMO is to set Mail as the email client for iPhoto is iPhoto's General preference pane.  This gives you better access to your contacts, a sent copy of all emails and, if you want a layout similar to iPhoto's, photo layouts located in Mail's stationary.

I have starter 3.0 and cannot share pictures via outlook express. Evidently that version is discontinued and my outlook express does not support the MAPI that is required. I think the only solution is to upgrade to photoshop
elements or to send photos as attachment to your e-mail.  I have the same problem using Zoom Browser EX sending photos via internet. I spent a whole day trying to resove this issue and have exhausted all options. Just like "Instant share" in HP image Zone that was replace by photoshop album starter 3.0 and now it is out dated.
