ALL or selected permissions
When the 10-step or similar process is used, does this end up granting ALL permissions to the applet?
Is there any way to involve a java.policy file which defines specific limits?
Can this be downloaded in any (semi-) automated manner like the certificate?
How does the user know just what they are permitting?
Thanks for help!
I think its an all.
I don't know of a way to selectively grant automatically. There has got to be an API for it, the policy tool does it.
Besides, they can trust you ... you signed the applet and You guaranteed to them it's safe.
If it isn't .....

I have a SQL Server connected intro a Windows Server 2003 Domain Active Directory, the server holds a default instance with a single Database, the SQL Server is 2005 Std Edition, and is using mix mode Authentification, then I able to create SQL Native Users
and Invoque Windows Domain Users also.
The Goal of this project is remove the sysadmin Server role for all the Windows Domain Users, to give then a more granular secure model but at the moment is this only way to connect at the Data Base Server.
I already create Native SQL Servers users without any problem!, they respect Securable Setting, Server Roles, User Mapping, everything...Just when I create a Login Profile form a Domain Users and apply the same setting, I get this error...
The SELECT permissions was denied on the object 'extended_properties', database 'mssqlsystemresource', schema 'sys'.(Microsoft SQL Server, Error:229)
But if the user have sysadmin Server Rol he can sing over the server without any issue, I review the .sys view extended_properties and "Public" is the only Database Role placed.
Any Idea if I need change any Setting in the Secure in SQL Master DataBase? or which is the issue witjh this matter?
Thank in advance for your help!Since there are so many possibilities for what might be wrong. Here's another possibility to look at. I ran into something where I had set up my own roles on a database. (For instance, "Administrator", "Manager", "DataEntry",
"Customer", each with their own kinds of limitations) The only ones who could use it were "Manager" role or above--because they were also set up as sysadmin because they were adding users to the database (and they were highly trusted).
Also, the users that were being added were Windows Domain users--using their domain credentials. (Everyone with access to the database had to be on our domain, but not everyone on the domain had access to the database--and only a few of them had access
to change it.)
Anyway, this working system suddenly stopped working and I was getting error messages similar to the above. What I ended up doing that solved it was to go through all the permissions for the "public" role in that database and add those permissions
to all of the roles that I had created. I know that everyone is supposed to be in the "public" role even though you can't add them (or rather, you can "add" them, but they won't "stay added").
So, in "SQL Server Management Studio", I went into my application's database, in other words (my localized names are obscured within <> brackets): "<Computername> (SQL Server <version> - sa)"\Databases\<MyAppDB>\Security\Roles\Database
Roles\public". Right-click on "public" and select "Properties". In the "Database Role Properties - public" dialog, select the "Securables" page. Go through the list and for each element in the
list, come up with an SQL "Grant" statement to grant exactly that permission to another role. So, for instance, there is a scalar function "[dbo].[fn_diagramobjects]" on which the "public" role has "Execute" privilege.
So, I added the following line:
EXEC ( 'GRANT EXECUTE ON [dbo].[fn_diagramobjects] TO [' + @RoleName + '];' )
Once I had done this for all the elements in the "Securables" list, I wrapped that up in a while loop on a cursor selecting through all the roles in my roles table. This explicitly granted all the permissions of the "public" role to
my database roles. At that point, all my users were working again (even after I removed their "sysadmin" access--done as a temporary measure while I figured out what happened.)
I'm sure there's a better (more elegant) way to do this by doing some kind of a query on the database objects and selecting on the public role, but after about half and hour of investigating, I wasn't figuring it out, so I just did it the brute-force method.
In case it helps someone else, here's my code.

Once that is in the system, I just needed to "Exec GrantAccess" to make it work. (Of course, I have a table [RoleList] which contains a "AppRoleName" field that contains the names of the database roles.)
So, the mystery remains: why did all my users lose their "public" role and why could I not give it back to them? Was this part of an update to SQL Server 2008 R2? Was it because I ran another script to delete each user and add them back
so to refresh their connection with the domain? Well, this solves the issue for now.
One last warning: you probably should check the "public" role on your system before running this to make sure there isn't something missing or wrong, here. It's always possible something is different about your system.
Hope this helps someone else. -
How do I default a multi-select to have all values selected
Hi all,
I have a report (standard, not interactive - for various reasons) and I have a number of 'search' fields that the use can use to fulter the results shown. One of these fields is a multi-select list which allows the users to select multiple values at the same time. This is working fine.
My problem is in setting the default for the multi-select list to have all values selected (either when the page is first opened or when the user clicks a 'reset' button).
The multi-select query is:
select
lv1.description d, lv1.lookup_code r
from
tpa_adm_lookup_types lt1,
tpa_adm_lookup_values lv1
where
lv1.lookup_type_id = lt1.lookup_type_id
and lt1.lookup_type = 'RELEASE_PHASES'
and lv1.delete_flag = 'N'
order by 1
how do I get it to default to everything selected?
Many thanks,
MartinHi Andy,
Yes it is a dynamic list so a fixed default is no good.
I have built the field with a source (when session state is null) of:
with data as (
select lookup_code, row_number() over(order by lv1.description) rn,count(*) over () cnt
from tpa_adm_lookup_values lv1,
tpa_adm_lookup_types lt1
where lv1.lookup_type_id = lt1.lookup_type_id
and lt1.lookup_type = 'RELEASE_PHASES'
and lv1.delete_flag = 'N' )
select ltrim(sys_connect_by_path(lookup_code,':'),':') catvalues
from data
where rn = cnt
start with rn = 1
connect by prior rn = rn-1;which works but I was hoping ApEx had a cleaner solution.

Just bought a nano and want to download some of my iTunes library. The "Music" button shows almost all my selections but some albums are missing, yet ONLY those albums appear on the nano icon on my desktop after being dragged there but none of the others. What's happening?
I've read some of the post here that I thought might help but they refer to titles (Music) and triangles in the "Devices" window which are nowhere to be seen when I open the "Devices" window.
I have iTunes 11.0.3 and Mac OS 10.6.8. Does this make a difference?I should mention that, for the first problem, I do make sure that my new tracks are stored in the folder where I told iTunes that my music is in. Also, when I say the cataloging of my library stops short of cataloging all my songs, I have tried leaving the computer unattended for days (my computer's sleep mode is disabled). It always stops before cataloging all of my music regardless of whether I am doing something else while iTunes is cataloging, or if I just let iTunes be the only program that's open during the cataloging process.

Help required on UNION ALL for select query
Hello all,
The execution plan for an SQL is impacted when another SELECT is concatenated with a UNION ALL. The two SELECTS are very efficient when run separately (< 100 buffer gets), but when run together (using a UNION ALL), the execution plan changes (for the first SELECT) and the buffer gets jumps to over 45000!
what customer says with the UNION ALL, Oracle instead of doing a Merge Scan (that allows the inner table to filter out the rows from the outer table), chooses to do a NL join. This results in a Unique Index scan for each one of the 15000 rows in the outer table, resulting in 46000 consistent gets.
Can you please suggest customer why plan changes when they use UNION ALL & also suggest better way of running query.
Please refer to below explain plan .

I am unable to sync all my selected songs to my iphone. The error message is that the computer is not authorized. However, I have authorized the computer and iTunes confirms that. Any ideas what can be done to fix this. My phone is an iPhone 4S.
Were some of the songs purchased from a different itunes account?

Select all / Delete selection Translation
Hi,
although I am running my Web Dynpro ABAP in Swedish the "Select all / Delete selection" table options are displayed in English. Anyone who knows whether or not this is a bug or a known limitation ... or perhaps something that I can fix?
Thanks!Hi Peter,
I still do not understand why all the other standard functionalities are translated but not "Select all/Delete selection". Could you be a little more specific how/what you mean with domain translation?
Thanks! -

Controlling the results when All is selected
I am guessing this is not possible, but...
I have a legacy report I am trying to modify, and when option <All> is selected in my Page Item - the displayed values are summed up for all columns. However, for some columns it does NOT make sense. Is there anything I can do to change that?
My Page Item is a Date, and the report is a cross-tab. Ideally, I would like to display the value for the Most Recent date when user selects <All>.
Thanks!Hi,
Maybe you need to replace the date page item with a an aggregate item, i.e. MAX(date_item). Then the latest date will be shown when the report is grouped at a higher level.

Hide a library object from all but selected users
Perhaps I just missed this in the documentation, but is there a way to hide
a library object from all but selected users who will have access to the
docs in that library. I know I can uncheck access rights and assign them
only for selected users who can access the documents, but I would like to
hide the ibrary object as well, best that only those who have access even
know the library exisits in this case. Thanks.PatM wrote:

How do you give this support? This is a real issue with us as we
generate information that affects the price and "tradeability" of public
companies.
If it's only moral support -- you got it.
If you have to "vote" on these issues -- how?

Can we force JOptionPane to show all possible selections?
Hey all,
I'm trying to create a JOptionPane which will allow multiple selections. Not much of a problem.
String[] options = { "1", "2", "3" };
String selectedValue = (String)JOptionPane.showInputDialog(null, "Message", "Title", JOptionPane.OK_CANCEL_OPTION,null, options, options[1]);
Is there any way to force JOptionPane to show all 3 selections? Currently, I'm getting a pulldown list.
If I want to force the issue, do I need to create my own JDialog instead of using a JOptionPane?
thanks for any help in advance,
GeoffJOptionPane.showOptionDialog(null, "Message", "Title", JOptionPane.OK_CANCEL_OPTION,JOptionPane.ERROR_MESSAGE, null, options, options[1]);

when I try to update Firefox I get a window saying it can't be loaded because I do not have all the necessary permissions. What does this mean and what do I do?
If there are problems with updating or with the permissions then easiest is to download the full version and trash the currently installed version to do a clean install of the new version.
Download a new copy of the Firefox program and save the DMG file to the desktop
* Firefox 6.0.x: http://www.mozilla.com/en-US/firefox/all.html
* Trash the current Firefox application to do a clean (re-)install
* Install the new version that you have downloaded
Your profile data is stored elsewhere in the Firefox Profile Folder, so you won't lose your bookmarks and other personal data.

Cannot find my "Pictures folder" in Finder and was using the "all Images" selection to fiddle with my pictures. Now I think I may have screwed iPhoto up
Hi jamesxio,
Do you still have the Pictures folder in your home folder? If not, create a new folder in your home folder and name it Pictures. Make sure the iPhoto Library folder is in the Pictures folder.
Now launch iPhoto with the Option key depressed until you get a message screen. Choose to open another library and navigate to and highlight the iPhoto Library folder. Click the Open button.
You didn't move anything around or rename anything in the iPhoto Library folder in the finder, did you?
