All Photo Albums Gone Only Photos For Moments Left

Hi I have 4000 photos and when I browse just now to album tabs inside the Photos application All I see was the attached image. No Photos or Videos
but when I browse on photos tab it has all the images.
All albums are gone including the recently deleted, the albums I created the favorite album everything. What happened I'm pretty clueless and havent seen any solutions for this.

Looks like Apple continue to **** up the way that we have sorted our photos for years!.
All of my albums have gone...if i go to 'Albums' ...all i get i a 'Faces ' page. What good is that?
How do get back all of the albums ...all of the hundreds of pic .....pics of my family over the decades..pics of my holidays.... etc etc.. they've gone .
Where are they ?
Can anyone help please ....and why are Apple continually changing everything , overtime an upgrade comes along. It worked before ...so why change it .

Hi, I have a MacBook Pro on Maverick 10.9.1. I recently got squeezed into an iPhoto upgrade I didn't want to do. When it had finished, all photos for 2012 -2013 had disappeared and instead of it saying I had about 6000 photos, it now thinks there are 17000+ despite there being about half of them missing? And no, I didn't think I would need an upgrade.
I may have back up these onto a time capsule but the voltage I am getting at the moment (Tanzania) isn't enough to start it up to check. My feeling is that they are still on the nard disk and can be rescued. But how??? Thanks

To be safe from automatic updates that you do not want, i.e., on a slow network, change your System Preferences for the AppStore. Disable downloads in the background and automatic install, and leave only security updates enabled, so you do not miss them.

What exactly did you do, after iPhoto updated? This looks, like you imported your iphoto library instead of upgrading it. If you cannot find the original library, you really should try to restore the library from the backup. How long will it be, until you get to a better power supply?
Do you keep your iPhoto library on an external drive or on your system drive?
Try to search for a file called "Library6.iPhoto". This file is part of any iPhoto Library. To search your entire mac download

Album Art Only Displays For First Song of Album

If I play an album via my iPad or iPods music app through AppleTV, the album art will display correctly for the first songs played from that album, but is blank for the others that follow. If i individually play each song, the album art appears correctly.
Also, if iI have a playlist and two songs from the same album play back to back, then the second song does not have album art. However, if another song plays between the two songs from the same album, the art appears correctly.
If I play an album from iTunes on my Macbook Air through my AppleTV, there are no cover art issues.

Per someone elses suggestion, i reset the device and the issue still exists.

Smart Album Not Displaying All Photos for Keywords

hmmm ...
I have a smart album looking for a specific keyword. This album is displaying the correct numbers of fotos with the correct keywords - but some fotos are not displayed (white background, filesize 0, exclamation mark when trying to edit).
I have checked, that the fotos are still on place: they are in the library, the (same) keyword search out of the library is working, spotlight is finding them. I did a database rebuilt.
But i have still the problem, which seems to exist only with smart albums.
Any suggestions?

You are right. The Photos are indeed missing, i opened the iphoto "original" folder, which ist empty. For what reason ever. The missing photos are others than i thought.
Now i'm looking to restore them - i hope i have a suitable backup.

HT4236 I selected 'all photos' for syncing and nothing happens

When i try to sync my iphone 3GS, 32 GB, half full. it only syncs 905 of 2555 photos. All are selected and i get an error message that such and such a number of photos will not sync see itunes.
Where do i look for the message on the sync, and how can i sync ALL my photos?

If your country's iTunes Store allows you to redownload purchased tracks, I'd delete your current copies of the dodgy tracks and try redownloading fresh copies. For instructions, see the following document:

All my Aperture 3 album gone...

I am having 10 over album in my Aperture 3
I export one of my album to my desktop last night
And this morning, I accidentally double click my exported album that on my desktop
It launch my Aperture 3
But, I found that all my album gone, I can only see one album which is the album that I double click
Anyway to retrieve it back?....

I go and check the Aperture 3 library
I double click the aperture library file, it launch the Aperture 3, but my two album gone also
I am frustrated of my albums that gone....because I spend hours to adjust my photos, it is about few thousand photo

I found the solution from your clue
Now only I found that aperture can switch library
If I double click an exported ablum, a new library will be create
If I double click the library file, it will create a new library as well
Now I just go back to Aperture, click on other/New library, then I can see all my library with date already
I able to get a good sleep after that!

Shortcut to display all photos no filters

I'd love to have a shortcut to be able to switch to all catalog photos with filters turned off.
AFAIK, currently it is only possible to get there by switching to 'All photos' in the left panel and pressing Ctrl/Cmd + L. This takes at least three actions: opening filmstrip or left panel, selecting all photos and turning the filter off.
It would be very useful if there is a keyword shortcut to do this!

I'd prefer to have a column in the filter preset for the folder or collection this filter applies to. This would make it pretty close to functionally equivalent to a smart collection, which is fine by me. Custom filters and smart collections ought to be the same kind of animal, both are for helping organize photos.
The only difference I can see between filters and smart collections would be where you find them -- one is found in the custom filter drop down and the other is found in the smart collection folder collection.
Also, when specifying a folder, one should be able to indicate if sub-folders are to be included.

Why are my emails only visible for @ six weeks then they disappear?

Since I installed Lion on my IMAC I have noticed something strange with Mail - all of my emails only appear for about a period of six weeks and then they disappear. Currently I have no emails before 25 February.... I cannot see any setting that specifies this to happens - how can I restore so I see all emails?

They look different because the screens for POP3 and IMAP accounts are different. As I said in my first response, you didn't provide any information about the type of email that you were using in your original post.

I just restarted my computer, again, and the icons are back. Don't know where they went, but they're there now.

Photos in all album gone, but can see it under photo/event

All my photos gone in album (album gone too, just left with folder) after I switched on the computer this morning. However, most of the photos are (just not the photos which I uploaded yesterday) are basically "safe" under photo/ event, just not in the album list.
Any idea what can I do so I don't have to sort out all the photo again? I guess it must be some reasons till all the albums+most of the photos gone without clicking anything but just switched on the computer.
I've checked with lots of forums but seem nothing work with my situation. I am using iPhoto'11 and I have bout 500GB space in my hard-Drive.

Option 1
Back Up and try rebuild the library: hold down the command and option (or alt) keys while launching iPhoto. Use the resulting dialogue to rebuild. Choose to Repair Database. If that doesn't help, then try again, this time using Rebuild Database.
If that fails:
Option 2
Download iPhoto Library Manager and use its rebuild function. (In early versions of Library Manager it's the File -> Rebuild command. In later versions it's under the Library menu.)
This will create an entirely new library. It will then copy (or try to) your photos and all the associated metadata and versions to this new Library, and arrange it as close as it can to what you had in the damaged Library. It does this based on information it finds in the iPhoto sharing mechanism - but that means that things not shared won't be there, so no slideshows, books or calendars, for instance - but it should get all your events, albums and keywords, faces and places back.
Because this process creates an entirely new library and leaves your old one untouched, it is non-destructive, and if you're not happy with the results you can simply return to your old one.

I backed up on cloud.I am struggling here with all this,am a Silver surfer and was an avid Apple fan,Have IPhone also. ,but ,,,regret doing this upgrade.everythng different,,all my folders gone,,most important photos from the past 4 years.

What version of iPhoto? Assuming 09 or later

I find it extremely frustrating that Apple does not care for such an obvious bug affecting one of the basic funcionalities of AirPlay. Unless, of course, if there's something I don't know - but I've done some research and it seems that plenty of people have same issue and no solution is settled.

If Other (the yellow bar) is too big something is corrupted. The only solution (that I know of) is to restore from your most recent backup using iTunes (see http://support.apple.com/kb/ht1766).
