All photos except those in "last roll" seem corrupted...help!

i've been having problems with iPhoto...
i'm using version 5, which i know is old but after reading about everyone's issues with the newest version i'm reluctant to upgrade. anyway, all of my photos refuse to drag onto the desktop, instead showing the white circle with the line through it. also, i cannot open a photo individually in order to edit it.
today i found a discussion about the helvetica bug and problems that it's creating for iPhoto. so, after disabling/enabling the helvetica font in font book.app, i was able to drag and drop, and open in the edit window ONLY my "last roll" photos. i still cannot drag and drop or edit any of my previous pictures in the library.
why did the helvetica tip work only for the "last roll" pics??? my goal is to send some of my older pics (but still they are no older than maybe 2-3 months) onto an online photo sharing website. help!

This is the first-aid room for iPhoto. Judging the health of the app is like judging the health of your community by visiting the Emergency Room of your hospital. The fact is that only people with problems come here and that the vast majority of folks don;t need to.

Is there any way to delete all cookies except those used on the home page?

Is there any setting in Firefox which would permit me the deletion of all cookies on exit EXCEPT those associated with with specific pages? For example, the iGoogle home page requires a cookie to be set which recognizes the session created in a prior access. If all cookies are deleted on closure of Firefox, the user is required to sign in to iGoogle every time to see their home page. Currently you can delete cookies on exit or accept cookies based on exception. I would like to delete all cookies except those from permitted sources. There is no setting for this that I can find.

You can let all cookies expire if you close Firefox and set an allow exception for domains that you want to keep the cookies from. Don't use [[Clear Recent History]] to clear cookies as that will remove all cookies including ones with an exception, but just let the others expire.
You can always remove cookies manually, e.g. via a click on the favicon and More Information and View Cookies.

One other item I thought I would pass along...
I noticed that the NVG589 gets terribly confused if a device behind it isn't setup properly first to be a static address.
Here's the behavior: Say you have a router of your own and you intend to give it one of the addresses from your static IP block. You decide to set it up first and don't make the changes initially in the 589 to force it to be a static IP of some kind-- whether in the private or the public block. You configure the router in this case with DHCP. Your router starts handing out addresses in its own IP range however your configured it.
But look what the 589 thinks is happening: it sees the DHCP client name associated with the same MAC address changing constantly. It makes entries for each different client name in its device list, sometimes aging out, sometimes not.
Now trying to save the private IP will result in a "missing data" error. Worse, trying to change things to a public static IP will result in similar messages about the IP being in the wrong range.
The same issue can also occur if the device was setup statically in the private range and you try to change it to a public static IP.
The only way to fix this:
1) If you intend to advertise the router on an IP from your static block, disconnect all devices from the router and the RG, except for the router you want to setup. Wait for the RG to see them as "offline" in the device list. Alternatively, if you intend to setup another device or server on a Static IP, make sure it is the only device connected to the RG.
2) Switch the IP allocation to "Public"
3) Renew the lease on the device
4) Go into the IP Allocation page and fix the IP to one of the public static IPs from your pool
5) Reconnect all devices.
Generally, the best practice is to setup each static IP device before connecting any others to the RG.

Photos/videos in the Camera Roll can be imported by your computer as with any other digital camera. When there are photos/videos in the iPhone's Camera Roll, it is also detected as a digital camera when connected to your computer.
With a Mac, you can use iPhoto for this if you use iPhoto for photo management on your Mac. If not, you can use the Image Capture application for the import. Both include an option to delete all photos/videos from the Camera Roll after the import process is complete.

All emails except those received over last 24 hours, were suddenly deleted. Inbox, trash and sent all affected. Any ideas on why and whether I can expect more of the same? I use outlook express

I add pictures to existing web page using iweb(3.0.1) and new pictures show in all browsers EXCEPT firefox. Previous patches seem only good for iweb 2.X

web page created with iweb (3.0.1). worked great in firefox, then I added additional photos to an existing web page. All other browsers see these new pictures EXCEPT firefox. There seems to have been a previous issue with new pages, but fix appears only fro iweb2.x

Do you see any error messages about getElementsByClassName in the Tools > Error Console ?
That was the problem with content generated with an older version of iWeb.
Content that has been generated with such an older version needs to be regenerated with that never version and uploaded to the web server.
Never versions of iWeb should cause any problems.

All photos deleted now my camera roll is grey with MP4 thumbnails

Hi all!
My iPhone was super low on memory so I thought i'd copy and paste a load of my photos off of my phone onto my PC and then delete them off my phone.
I'd copied over what I wanted, and after that was done, I went back to the photos on my iPhone made sure everything that was selected was what I wanted to delete. So after I checked that, I deleted them.
Now, they have deleted the wrong photos and havent even copied any over onto my laptop. I am now left with lots of grey squares in my camera roll saying "MP4" when I click on it, it says "The requested URL was not found on this server"
I know there is probably no chance of me getting my photos back but can someone explain what is going on?! I am devastated as you can imagine.

I am so sorry to hear that and I would be devastated too to lose photos. There may be hope, If you have a back up in iTunes or iCloud, then you can replace the contents of your phone with that back up. Take a look at the article below on how to back up and restore your iPhone.

How do I delete entire batch of photos, except those in an album?

I'm in the midst of taking large batches of photos. For example, I import a batch of 500 images into iPhoto from my camera. From that batch, I only want to keep 10 photos which are randomly located thruout the batch. I then want to delete the remaining 490.
I select the 10 photos I want to keep and place them into an album. Then I'm stumped! If I trash the whole batch, I will also be trashing those images I just selected to keep in the album.
How do I select and delete only those 490 images which I do not want to keep? Surely there is a better way to do this short of painstakingly deselecting the 10 keepers by their file number.

You can do this with a Smart Album that has two conditions.
File -> New Smart Album
Set it to Match All the conditions
Then
Event -> Contains -> The Name of the Event
+
Album -> is not -> Any
This will find all the photos in that Event that are not in an Album
Then in the Smart Album Select All and go SHift-Command-Delete to move them to the trash.

I am trying to sync my wifes iphone on her macbook and every time we do this it reverts to her old iphone and erases all photos, contacts, emails etc. I seem to get in trouble each time i do this. Any suggestions?

I am trying to update my wifes iphone5 to her macbook. The macbook already has her old iphone4s information. I would like to set up a new id for her so that I can keep all of the information on her phone and get rid of the old stuff on her macbook now. Is there an easy way to do this now. I have an account on my laptop and dont sync with my macbook so it doesnt really matter to me with my iphone5, but i would like to start fresh with hers. It seems like every time I go to sync it i get a message that there is already an account under that user name. Can i keep the same user name and start fresh with what is on her 5.

I can delete all photos except for one album where no trash can appears. How can I get rid of the album?

I have an album of photos on my IPAD that I can not delete. It was imported from a camera card. I have managed to delete all other photos taken the same way but these appear to be stuck on the IPAD as no trash can icon appears. Also, my other photos appear in the imported folder and also albums. The photos in the album that won't delete only appear in that album?

HT1725 Downloaded Majestic Casual Chapter 1, all ok except Track 47 (last track) suppose to be 1.19.50 long only plays for 1minute 20 seconds.....how do I redownload this one track or find out if theres a fault.?

Depending upon what country that you are in (music can't be re-downloaded in all countries) then try deleting that track from your iTunes library and redownload it via the Purchased link under Quicklinks on the right-hand side of the iTunes store home page on your computer's iTunes (or if doing it on your iPhone delete it from the Music app and redownload it via the Purchased tab in the iTunes store app).

How do I find all photos that can be '"reverted to original"? Help please!

Hi. I hope that someone can help me with this!
I am trying to go through my iPhoto Library of about 1000 photos and find all of the photos that have the option to be "reverted to original", ie. I have made changes to them. I realise that I could go through them one by one, but I am trying to avoid that!
I have realised recently that I should duplicate a photo before changing it, so that I leave the original untouched. However this doesn't help me with all of the old ones that I DIDN'T duplicate.
Is there an Applescript or a method of finding all of the old photos that I am looking for?

I don't think it can be done from within iPhoto but there's a way you can do it from outside. First download and launch QPict. Then do the following;
1 - open your iPhoto Library folder and type Command-F.
2 - in the search window create these two search criteria:
a - Kind is Folder
b - Name contains Original
3 - In the search results window click on the size column to separate the empty folders from those with files in them.
4 - select all of the folder that are not empty and drag into the open window of QPict.
That will open the original files in QPict so you can view them there and compare to those in iPhoto. Just remember do not move any of those folders out of the iPhoto Library folder. Just move them into the open window of QPict.

All photos suddenly appear "black" within their frames. Help!

Between importing photos from my camera and quitting, then reopening the program again a few days later, my photos all now suddenly appear completely black (the same color as the window's background). In every photo folder I have, the correct number of photos appear. They are even oriented the way they would be, except, of course, that the contents of each photo (highlighted in blue, or with the usual thin white frame) is blank. Slideshows show blanks (black screen) with music playing as usual. The iPhoto library still contains the photos, with thumbnails, and I can open the files and view the photos in the iPhoto library using Preview.
Why can't I see the photos within the program itself???

It's an issue in iPhoto 6 that some fixed by updating to 10.4.6 using the COMBO updater followed by a repair of disk permissions with Disk Utility.

Lost all photos when "upgrade" Lightroom 5.5. Any help, encouragement, aspirin would be appreciated?

Information: Unfortunately, all filters were off. In "keywords", the number indicated (35) I had "keyworded", probably 1500 images.
Another "twist" just found. All images just found on the external drive (4TB), where they were originally downloaded, so I have the images.
Concern: recovery of: the keywords, flags and star ratings and edits? (oh I hope there is a way)
