  • IPhoto to Aperture 3 import - not all photos get imported...

Hello - My library is not huge, only about 8000 photos. Just bought Aperture 3 and imported my iPhoto library into A3. Seemed to go without issues. Today, as I re-organize a few folders, projects, etc., I realize that not all the photos were imported. About 700, to be exact. Every named Event in iPhoto imported over into A3, but not all photos within each Event (now Project). Any thoughts on what could have happened and how this could be avoided?
I could import each Event individually, but then I would loose all my keywords. Any work around you can think of? Thanks!

    Try rebuild your iPhoto Library:
    Option 1
Back Up and try rebuild the library: hold down the command and option (or alt) keys while launching iPhoto. Use the resulting dialogue to rebuild. Choose to Rebuild iPhoto Library Database from automatic backup.
    If that fails:
    Option 2
Download iPhoto Library Manager and use its rebuild function. This will create a new library based on data in the albumdata.xml file. Not everything will be brought over - no slideshows, books or calendars, for instance - but it should get all your albums and keywords, faces and places back.
I would import each event individually, but I would like my keywords preserved
Using the iPhoto Media Browser (File -> Import -> Show iPhoto Browser) will get your keywords too.

Because this process creates an entirely new library and leaves your old one untouched, it is non-destructive, and if you're not happy with the results you can simply return to your old one.

  • IPhoto duplicates (doubles) all photos when importing

    Hi
    iMac 27 2009/10
    OSX 10.8.5
    iPhoto 11 9.4.3
When importing from an iPhone (and i think a digital camera) iPhoto imports say 10 photos but it puts 20 into iPhoto - i.e. it duplicates every photo it imports
It never used to do this and i can't see anywhere in preferences where there is a setting to import photos and double them up ?
When we import some 100 photos and we get 200 into iPhoto its a real pain to have to go through them and delete the duplicates

If you're shooting HDR photos with your iPhone and don't want double imports turn off the Keep Normal Photo under Settings ➙ Photos & Camera on your iPhone:
Frankly, I'd keep the normal photo. It might be far better than the HDR version, if the camera was not perfectly stabilised or the target moved. Usually it requires the large screen on the Mac to be able to compare the normal photo to the HDR version, to be able to see, if the HDR version is passable.

  • Can't select all photos hen importing

    HI
i can't select all the photos that i have taken to import.  Most of them i can select but some it won't let me tick the box to import?
Any advice would be much appreciated as i need to edit the wedding photos.
    Thanks Adam

this is the problem i haven't already imported the photo as it is straight from the camera (on the memory card)
I have been using two cameras so maybe its got confused?
    Thanks Adam

  • IPhoto not finding all photos when importing

I'm trying to import 14,499 photos. The problems is when I drag it over or click file import it only imports about 12,200. What happened to the other 2,299? I clicked yes to import duplicate photos. I plan on running duplicate annihilator once all of the photos are in. I can't tell which folder or photos it's not importing. The pictures are in 50 folder, and several have sub folder. I have tried running it on the laptop hard drive, and a external hard drive with 2 different libraries and still same problem.

  • I tried to import my all photos from iphoto, but almost finishing, it close and do not finish. After it still closing unexpectedly. I lost all my work... i am too disappointed

I am photo lover and have more than 15 thousand of them in my macbook pro. but i would like to use the aperture 3 now. but it do not wanted to import the photos and now it still closing unexpectedly.

    Thigama,
Don't get too frustrated.  Aperture is great, and since you are willing to take the plunge, you will surely be rewarded once things start working correctly.
First, what work have you lost? It sounds like you were just waiting for Aperture to finish its initial import, in which case you didn't really lose anything.
How large is your iPhoto library?  How much free space is on the drive on which your Aperture library is stored?  When you imported your iPhoto library, did you choose 1) to copy the photos into Aperture, or 2) to "leave in their current location?"  If you copied into your Aperture library, you will need more than twice the amount of space that your iPhoto library takes.  Even if you choose to keep the photos in their current location, you will still need many gigs of free space.
Also, do you have any other "Pro" apps on your computer?  There has been (in the past) problems with Aperture when other applications are installed.

  • IPhoto not showing all photos

I have iPhoto '11 v 9.4.3.  Some time ago I noticed that certain events in the event view were showing up with zero photos in the event, with a gray palm tree sunset as the key photo of that event.  When I go to import pictures from my camera, iPhoto reports that photos in the camera are duplicates of photos already imported, but it shows a blank for the imported photo.  Since iPhoto seems to know they are there, I don't re-import. When I go to the Finder and look for the "missing" photos, they are there in the iPhoto Library (under Masters).  So, my question is, why does iPhoto know they are there but can't show them?  And how do I fix it?  And BTW, they have not been made hidden in iPhoto.

    Option 1
Back Up and try rebuild the library: hold down the command and option (or alt) keys while launching iPhoto. Use the resulting dialogue to rebuild. Choose to Repair Database. If that doesn't help, then try again, this time using Rebuild Database.
    If that fails:
    Option 2
Download iPhoto Library Manager and use its rebuild function. (In early versions of Library Manager it's the File -> Rebuild command. In later versions it's under the Library menu.)
This will create an entirely new library. It will then copy (or try to) your photos and all the associated metadata and versions to this new Library, and arrange it as close as it can to what you had in the damaged Library. It does this based on information it finds in the iPhoto sharing mechanism - but that means that things not shared won't be there, so no slideshows, books or calendars, for instance - but it should get all your events, albums and keywords, faces and places back.
Because this process creates an entirely new library and leaves your old one untouched, it is non-destructive, and if you're not happy with the results you can simply return to your old one.

  • Why are not all photos in the "Photos" app not showing on the camera roll?

On my iPad 2 (using iOS 7.1.2) there are 1,279 photos in the Photos application. The camera roll contains 77 photos. The About section in the Settings indicate I have 1,421 photos. Why is there this discrepancy in numbers? How can I move all 1,279 photos from the Photos application to a USB flash drive?

    You cannot.
You have sync'd 1202 photos (1279-77)  from your computer using iTunes to your iPhone.
You have 77 photos on you iPhone you have taken with the iPhone and have not sync'd to your computer and deleted from the Camera Roll.
You should regularly sync all photos in the Camera Roll to your computer and delete them from the Camera Roll on the iPhone.
-> iOS: Import personal photos and videos from iOS devices to your computer
After you do this, you can sync whatever photos you want, back to your iPhone using iTunes. (These are the photos NOT in the Camera Roll).
    -> iTunes: Syncing photos
After all this, you can copy photos from your computer to a USB flash drive.

  • How can I update all photos to LR5. Last update from LR4.5 did not upgrade the files in LR4.5 folder

How can I update ALL photos to LR5. form LR4.5.I have reinstalled LR5 to to trigger the up date to no avail.

In the Lightroom menu, go to file/open catalog.  Locate your Lightroom 4 catalog and choose it.  Lightroom will create a new copy of that catalog in the format for Lightroom 5.

  • Aperture won't detect all photos from Camera

Hi everyone, i have got an annoying problem when trying to use aperture
My system: 27inch iMac, Snow Leopard 10.6.2, Aperture 2.1.4
    Camera: Canon 5D MK2
I went out to film a wedding, and took about 1000 photos, when i came home and connect my camera to iMac via USB, and click IMPORT, aperture starts to show the pics from the camera..
However, it only found about 400 pics in the camera..
I have to unplug USB, quit aperture, and restart.. it found about 700
again, it found all that 1000 photos
why is this? anyone had this problem before? Thanks

Can't offer you a solution, but I can keep you company.
Had this issue myself with a 400d since I converted to Mac. Always takes 2 attempts to import all photos. Installed SN before I installed Ap so can't give you a before and after scenario. However, I have tried different memory cards, USB cables and USB ports on my MBP to no effect.
All photos will import from the camera to Paint Shop Pro or to proprietary Canon s/ware on a PC & I have no issues importing from USB sticks. So to my mind that narrows it down to an Ap specific issue. I've endured the problem as I've been saving to upgrade my cam body for 10 months & hoped to buy my way out of the extra step in my workflow. However, guess which cam body I was going to go for?!

  • All Photos from Previous Folder Got Deleted!

I had this folder created yesterday with more than 100 photos in it, all photos were imported from my camera. Then later today, I imported another bunch of photos, this time from my flash disk. After they got imported, I tried to Zoom in one of the pics using the space bar forgot that all pics were selected in that folder after imported. iphoto was frozen for a while (colorful wheel was on). then i forced quit iphoto because of that. when i restarted iphoto, the previous folder that i imported yesterday from my camera was gone!! it's nowhere to be found, not in the trash can, not in iphoto, not in the flash disk (i was hoping it got magically switched), and not in my camera too because i already deleted them. i even restarted my computer to see if it was a glitch but it's not! ='{ the entire folder worth of 4 days photos of my vacation is gone!
    i tried to seek for the backup but it brought me to time machine that apparently i hadn't had it set up! :{
help! can i retrieve my -accidentally- deleted photos again?

  • Importing a slide show

    Hello,
Please give me direction on importing a slide show created in
    Fireworks.
    Thanks,
    Mike

What I do all the time is export an iMovie file onto the desktop as a Quick Time file and then import it into FCP if I need to. I would import your slide show into iMovie and then save it to the desk top as a Quick Time file and then import it into FCP. I know it's an extra step but that's the only way I know of getting it into a format that FCP will recognize.

  • Not all photos in the Photos app are uploaded to iCloud

I have over 23,000 photos in my Photos default library, but only about 3,000 have been upload to iCloud. I have 200 GB iCloud storage (187 GB available). Can someone help resolve this?
