All photos merged in a single event

after a crash more than 200 events to only one, all photos merged in a sigle event, is there a way to fix it ?

Easiest way is to load your backup from before the crash
another is to select the event and use the autosplit selected event command

  • My ipad resyncs all photos from scratch every single time!

My ipad resyncs all photos from scratch every single time that I connect it to itunes. The same is happening with my iphone. It takes a long time to prep the photos and then copy them. Why is this happening? Before this happened, since I don't take that many photos often, it would just breeze through the sync with just any new apps. Now, it takes forever to do any sync with itunes since it goes through this lengthy process of preparing the pictures, then copying them, every single time.
    Any thoughts? Thanks!

  • Import (v. 7.1.5) iPhotos from old iMac to new iMac (v. 9.2) using Migration Mgr. over fire wire.  All photos (  many dups) appeared in EVENTS and PHOTOS in the new Mac – but NO ALBUMS.

Attempted to import 6.5 GB of (v. 7.1.5) iPhotos from old iMac to new iMac (v. 9.2) using Migration Mgr. over fire wire.  All photos (plus many dups) appeared in EVENTS and PHOTOS in the new Mac – but NO ALBUMS.  I read a previous response to a similar question -- to copy the pictures library to the new computer.  How best to do that?

There's actually an option to iPhoto Library Manager that makes this all almost work flawlessly (and work well enough for me). With the exception of Photo Albums that the pictures are part of, if you select "Library > Rebuild Library..." and then select "Scavange Orphaned Photos" check box, then it will put all the Photos and Movies into the "Scavanged Photos" album. It matches the modified pictures to their originals. It preserves all the event names and photo groupings. All the meta-data I could spot check it got right (although with 44k pictures, I only checked a few). If you fail to select this option, however, it will find no pictures at all when it goes to rebuild the library (this was true of the small test libraries I tried as well as the big, monster 280GB library I just finished converting). The conversion process took 5 hours to run, but in the end produced a library my new iPhoto can read and that I can interact with. I'll be suggesting to the iPhoto Library Manager folks a notation that would estimate the number of Orphaned Photos and display that number as a hint to the user that the option would be useful.
Edited: Thanks to Old Toad and LarryHN for their help in finding which of the many options to transition this library to 9.5.1 I needed to use. Sorry if I took my frustration of the past several months out on you guys for generously trying to help me.

  • ITunes won't sync all photos across from iPhoto to my iPad, either when using 'all photos' or manually selecting the events. All the rest sync normally

Can anyone suggest a workround or reason why I can't sync a batch of about 300 photos in 5 events on consecutive days across from iPhoto 09 to my iPad 2? All the rest (>1000 frames mainly before and some after) go over, including some shot on the same digital camera (before and after). I've tried using 'all photos' and also manually selecting the events individually, they won't go. An album containing some of these photos goes across without them included, and converting the whole album on iPhoto to a movie and then dropping that into my videos won't go either. I've cleared the sync history as advised by the support line, and all software is updated. Loads of room on the iPad

Started having the same issue with my iPad 2 just this week. Tried deleting the iPod Photo Cache, disabling then re-enabling photo sync through iTunes, but keep getting the error: "Some of your photos, including the photo “XXX.jpg”, were not copied to the iPad “XXX” because they cannot be displayed on your iPad." This is with iOS 4.3.5, iTunes 10.4, and Mac OS 10.7 Lion.
Interestingly enough, I have no issues syncing the same exact set of photos to my iPhone 4 (also running 4.3.5). This seems to be an iPad-only issue.

  • 50,000 photos merged into one "miscellaneous event"! How do I recover my events?

I open iPhoto only to see that all of my events have been grouped into one event titled "miscellaneous."
My events were not only organized by date. They all had titles and specific groupings. I tried restarting my computer.
I am running the newest version of Lion and iPhoto.
Is there anything I can do to bring my events back?

I have all of my photos backed up seperately, but not the iphoto library itself.
I checked iPhoto package contents and the events still exist (the photos are titled properly and grouped properly). Is there anyway to link this information back to iPhoto itself?
Has anyone heard of this happening before?

  • IPhoto '09 events "merged" into one big event

It isn't clear what happened, but all of our events got merged into a single event after a restart of iPhoto. Both the Events and Photos folders show just the one event. All 10,000+ photos are in this one event. All of the Albums, Books, etc. seem to be still there and in place.
Is there anyway one can automatically rebuild the events from the time/date info (the photos still have their timestamps)?

It is the same in both views. In events view, there is one event with a date starting in '01 - '09. In the photos view, there is same range of dates/photo count listed first. Opening either opens up all of the photos in the library.
The good news is all of the photos are still there. Also, all of the albums, books, etc are still there. Just lost the event/roll type organization (which is useful on its own).
I know that during one of the earlier upgrades of iLife, events were automatically created from the old photo library based upon some criteria (I presumed it was date imported or date taken), but I didn't see this as an option anywhere. I do know about recreating a library but I'm not sure that is the best path taken.

  • Can I have photos that belong to no event?

    Hi,
I love using iPhoto 09 to manage my pictures. I do a lot of buying and selling on craigslist and often take pictures of the items i am selling. When i import my pictures from my phone to iPhoto, it has to create an event for those pictures. Since i don't like having those "events" lying around, i often combine them into one single event that stores all of my "items for sale" pictures.
Here are two tasks i do very frequently
    1) after i import new "items for sale" pictures, i need to drag and drop the new event to the old one. And the old one is usually buried among dozens of other real events. It's a pain to find it and do the drag and drop.
    2) When i need to upload those "items for sale" pictures, i again need to find that special event in order to dig up the pics. This pain is reduced by creating a smart album to collect all pictures in the "items for sale" event.
Any idea how to manage the situation better? Ideally, I'd want to have an option not to assign event to those photos and just store them in a traditional "Album".
    Lexin

No - an event is just a fancy name for a folder and all photos much be in an event
i need to drag and drop the new event to the old one. And the old one is usually buried among dozens of other real events. It's a pain to find it and do the drag and drop
step one is to stop doing this - leave the photos in their own event
i again need to find that special event in order to dig up the pics
Step one will stop this problem
I would use albums (or keywords and smart albums) to find the photos
And I probably would use two libraries - one for personal folders and one for for sale photos - launch iPhoto while depressing the option key to create a new library and to switch between libraries

  • There is a limit to gather photos in a single event ?

    Hi,
I wonder if there is some kind of limit, to gather photos in a single event. I am not sure, but from what I could understand, can only be together in the same event, photos with up to six days of difference in time.
For example, I have pictures of my dog taken during more than a year and want to put them in the same event, but without changing the dates from the pictures. I had to create at least 6 events with the name of my dog, because the recent event option disappears between one event and another.
Is it possible to do what I want? If not, why? This is something basic to organize photos ...
    Thank you!

You are correct if images are 6 days appart they cannot be part of the same event. Revel treats events in a "time boxed" way and expects them to be more or less continuous. Things like vacations, or parties with start and end dates.
You might try making an album. For example if you made an album of all your dog photos you could add images from any dates because albums have no date limitations.
    Hope this helps
    Jason

  • Want to view all photos in an Event, at once

I want to view all photos, from an Event, at once without scrolling down. When we got this, I remember looking at all photos together. Now, if I want to click and drag to another page or to iMovie, it wont let me. I can't put in trash either. Is it possible to view all to decide which photos to put on a video/movie? I am frustrated with this and have searched help topics and so on.

Welcome to the Apple user discussion forums
It sounds like you may have changed the display to show a single photo - look in the lower right hand corner of the iPhoto display and slide the little slider there to the left to show more (smaller) photos in the display

  • So i was merging pictures together in events and all of the sudden I had several come up with no pictures just the image number when I click on the picture which is bland a black exclmation point shows up. Have I lost my pictures for good?

So I was merging pictures in the events and all of the sudden several went black and when i clicked on the photos they were gone and when I click on the blank picture with an image number under it an exclamation point show up.  Have i lot these pictures for forever?

I'm sorry, but your sister, unless she had already turned on the "Find my iPhone" feature and the person who took the phone has not disabled it, is out of luck. She should report the theft to local police authorities, including the serial number of her iPhone. While her experience is unfortunate, there are good reasons why Apple cannot do anything else about it.
I hope she gets her phone back.
    Best of luck.

  • Enhance all photos in an event

How do i enhance all photos in an event instead of enhancing one by one?

There's a 3rd party application that can do bach edits including enhancement of photos in iPhoto:  iPhoto Batch Ehancer.

  • Creating a book: view all photos by events

When building a movie, you click on the camera icon and access all your photos in iPhoto, by event, album, whatever.
Why can't you see them that way when building a book in iPhoto?
The dropdown for photos in your build window not only doesn't show ALL your photos, it is really buggy about what it shows.
It offers All Photos in Project, Placed Photos in Project, Unplaced Photos in Project, Last Import, Last 12 Months, Flagged, and THEN randomly lists ONE event... and even when you click on that event, it doesn't always pull THOSE pix. So, then I started trying to TRICK it to show what I needed. VERY annoying.
And, since the iMovie program already has that set up, WHY can't it be that way in iPhoto.
The presumption seems to be that, if you are building a book in iPhoto that you've already identified all the pix you want and have created a separate folder or something. But, sometimes the book might be a representation of say, 20 years of marriage, or something like that, and you want to be able to peruse all your event folders...
    PLEASE can this be considered?
I am going to post this directly to Apple too, but thought I'd vent here.

I may not have been clear in my description.
When building a book, the bottom right corner of the screen shows icons for Add Page, Layout, Options, and Photos. When you click on photos, the ones that are available are as listed in my previous post (All Photos in Project, Placed Photos in Project, Unplaced Photos in Project, Last Import, Last 12 Months, Flagged, and one randomly selected event), but it's not a list of events, albums, etc, like it is in iMovie.
In addition, as noted previously, the actual images that appear when I select that randomly selected event aren't always the ones from that event. That appears to be a bug.
So, the question I posed isn't about how to view photos in the main iPhoto module, but in the BOOK module.
    Does that make sense?

  • What does one do when iPhoto version 7.1.5 only opens one event without showing all photos?

What does one do when iPhoto version 7.1.5 only opens one event without showing all photos or any other events?

Depends -what other clues? What recently changed? Do you have a good current backup?  best guess is to Back up your iPhoto library, Depress and hold the option (alt) and command keys and launch iPhoto - and repair the database - if that does not resolve things rebuild your iPhoto library database
