All photos older than one month have disappeared!

I opened iPhoto yesterday and discovered that all my photos older than one month have simply vanished from the library as well all my many folders that I had organized them into. I got a message saying that my folders were being synched, or something like that, so I waited several hours, but the photos and folders never came back.
I had over 3,000 photos, including many that were scanned in, collected over a number of years, and had gone through many of them marking "faces" and "places." I have most of them elsewhere, although not organized as I had them in iPhoto. Has anyone encountered this before? Are they really gone or are they hiding somewhere?

The best fix is to restore from your back up.
Other than that:
Option 1
Back Up and try rebuild the library: hold down the command and option (or alt) keys while launching iPhoto. Use the resulting dialogue to rebuild. Choose to Rebuild iPhoto Library Database from automatic backup.
If that fails:
Option 2
Download iPhoto Library Manager and use its rebuild function. This will create a new library based on data in the albumdata.xml file. Not everything will be brought over - no slideshows, books or calendars, for instance - but it should get all your albums and keywords, faces and places back.
Because this process creates an entirely new library and leaves your old one untouched, it is non-destructive, and if you're not happy with the results you can simply return to your old one.

  • Calendar events older than a month have disappeared!

I use the calendar on my iPhone and iPad, also synced with my husbands phone) for all our business appointments. In searching for a past appointment the other day, I suddenly discovered that any appointment or event created more than 4 weeks ago has disappeared, from all devices! This is a major headache for us as we rely on using previous events to help book future appointments etc!
Is this normal? Are events only stored for a period of time? I had assumed they would stay until someone deleted them!
Really grateful for any help as may have to stop using this feature if it doesn't store events!
    Thanks

The events should come back. Try refreshing the calendar. Launch the calendar app and tap the calendar button at the bottom. Pull down on the window that opens to refresh the events.

  • When creating a photo book, how can one import photos older than 12 months?

I am trying to create a photo book (I'm using iPhoto 11).  For my project, I'm trying to access photos older than 12 months, but that is not an option in the photo library at the right of the screen.
I have tried to click and drag the old photos into my project event.  They show up fine in "photos" but do not show up in the photo library!
I have also found that photos downloaded from a CD do not show up in the photo library either.
    Anyone have any thoughts?

You can not - they are soreted by date
--  the only solution I have seen is to put them in an album sorted the way you and and then use the batch cnage command to redate them with a small invrement between so a data sort matches your desired sort  --  I personally do not want to redate a bunch of my photos nor do i want  to have to go through and un-re- date a bunch
suggest a change to Apple - iPhoto menu ==> provide iPhoto feedback

  • How can I set up a rule to delete all messages older than 6 months left in Apple Mail's main inbox?

How can I set up a rule to delete all messages older than 6 months left in Apple Mail's main inbox?
I have created other rules to move some of my daily messages into specific folders and I don't wish to auto-delete those.
Just the general stuff that keeps piling up in my me.com main email box.  Mail such as FB announcements and other low priority stuff I want to look at before deleting but don't want to keep longer than a week or month.
    TIA
    thokitts

Thanks, but I am looking for a more automated solution than hand marking emails as junk. I might as well move them to the trash myself.
Again, these are emails I want to receive and quickly read, but not keep longer than a week or month or so. By setting a rule to toss any older than 30 days back then my Mail program (and thus my hard drive) won't be wasting so much space. For example, currently I have over 6000 read messages, with their attachments, in my main email box. I'd rather not have to physically attend to sorting the one I don't want out.
The one I do keep for other reasons get moved into other folders.
It seems this should be possible.

    Hello,

  • How to import photos older than 18 months from ipad

How do I import Photos from my ipad to my computer that are older than 18 months old?

    Hi Terence,
    thanks for your reply.
i've scrolled, oh i've scrolled, I've gone through every individual picture that is displayed in the photos option, and through the events option and while it's true there are photos past 18 months, there are lots of photos that used to be in my iPhoto library that are now missing in action.
I also tried the Smart Albums, thanks for the suggestion, and nothing came up that was older than 2009.  I definitely have photos older than that and desperately need them.  Thoughts?

  • How do i find photos older than 10 months

My album shows only photos up to 18 months in age. I have no idea how to find my older photos? What is the proceedure?

Try a smart album with the rule "Date is in the range ......"
Or simply arrange the events by date; this way, you will find your older events at the end of your list of event.

  • Inbox loses all messages older than one/two days

So, I'm the proud new owner of an iPhone, and while I'm generally very happy with it, I'm having some email troubles that I hope someone here might help me sort out.
The issue is that all the messages that come into my mailbox disappear after a day or two, which negates (at least for me) any advantage to having on-the-go email. My iPhone is set up to receive email from a POP account, and so far, I've had no problems receiving or sending mail - it's the not-deleting-emails-from-my-inbox issue that's giving me fits.
At first, I thought it might have something to do with the settings on the desktop computer (Mac Pro) which is also set up to receive emails from this account. The mail application on the desktop had been set to delete all messages from the server a week after the message had been retrieved. Given that the messages in my iphone are deleted from the iphone's inbox a day (at most two) after retrieving the message, I don't think this is an issue (in any case, i am under the impression that the iphone works like any other email application - once it retrieves a message, it is downloaded onto the device, correct? it doesn't just live on the server). In any event, to be on the safe side, I changed the Mac Pro's email settings to never delete messages from the server, but this hasn't affected my iphone's problem.
I've toyed around with the iphone's settings, but nowhere can I find a setting that addresses this specific problem. Anyone out there had the same trouble I'm having? If so, were you able to fix it? is it something I'm overlooking?
    Thanks in advance.

That is the correct spot, what is/was that option set to under deleted Messages? Try setting it to Never and see if that might change the emails behavior. If that is not the cause then it might be a issue with the Mail Application Software on the phone in your particular case and would need to restore the phone.
Another thing to try is to remove the email account on the phone then re-add the account and see if it is doing the same thing.

  • History automatically clears itself when it's older than one month

If I don't visit a site within a month, Firefox will automatically clear it. I checked all my add-ons and I don't think those are the cause and my Privacy tab is set to "Remember history".
I think this just happened a month or two ago

    Hi lunarskies,
Are you saying that the actual history is deleted and it shows that you have never been to the site or that you are logged out of the site? These are two separate things. Many sites will log you out after a certain period for security reasons. You can just use the built in password manager to log back in.
If your history is actually being removed, you might want to try the steps in [[Preferences are not saved]]. You could also try [https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/Managing-profiles?s=create+a+new+profile&r=2&e=es&as=s#w_creating-a-profile creating a new profile]. That should clear up an odd settings conflicts or issues with corrupt files.
    Hopefully this helps!

Unfortunatly for me I did not, do you think there might be any other way? Maybe by accesing it directly through direct USB contact and not through iTunes?

  • My photo albums added to Mobile albums have all photos older then 1970 showing dates (in Photoshop elements) of 12/31/1969 6:59 PM [was: 12/31/1969]

argggh.   Not sure if this bug is new with Adobe Photoshop Elements 13 or existed in 12 which I skipped.  My photo albums added to Mobile albums have all photos older then 1970 showing dates (in Photoshop elements) of 12/39/1969 6:59 PM.   This is a pain.  Not sure if it will scree up the date taken values which at least for now seems to be valid in the Metadata.
