[All Platforms] Sleep Timer / sleep mode
A sleep timer where a countdown is issued. When the countdown is over, spotify shuts the app automatically and the phone resets to the home screen. This is very helpful for playlist such as "sleep" mood for when you're sleeping. What's the use of using "deep sleep" playlist if spotify keeps running while you're asleep all night? The timer can save a lot of battery. You can sleep comfortably now that you know that spotify will shut down after 30 minutes. This can also benefit "focus" mood where you can set the timer for 30-45 minutes and take a break from studying whenever the timer is off.

Hi,
Since I did the Yosemite 'upgrade' last week I have been having problems with my MacBook Pro that never happened before. The most frustrating problems involve my keyboard which doesn't light up (checked my settings and they are correct) and the top row of function keys don't do anything so I can't adjust the volume, brightness, etc. Then if my screen goes into sleep mode, when I wake it back up I have to sign back in twice - I never had to sign in at all after sleep mode before.
I'm finding that in order to get it working properly I am having to completely shut down and start up again but when the keyboard problems are happening I can't get anything on the apple dropdown to work either (i.e. shut down, restart, etc) so I can only shut down by pressing and holding the on/off button.
I've never had problems with my Macbook before and feel like Apple have completely ruined it in one update! I've had a look through other posts on here but can't find anybody else having these problems so I would be really grateful if anyone could help me and offer me some advice on how to sort it out.

Sorry to hear about your problem,
I would say the best place to start is using apple diagnostics, if the problem is hardware related we find it quickly.

Please post your results.
Good luck.

24" iMac summer 2008. CPU fan runs at highest speed, some times goes to "sleep" mode. CPU t' is about 35'- 42'C. Run hardware test: 4sns/1/40000000:tlop-130.000, next time 4sns/1/40000000:tlop-128.000 errors. Tried SMC, NVRAM, PRAM. Reinstalled all softwere. Nothing changed.
I suspect you have hardware problem with a fan sensor. Doing a software install will not help the machine needs to be taken in for service. If you run Apple Hardware Test in Extended Mode it should reveal the error code. If it does not then run AHT an additional 2-3 times to be sure in Extended Mode. Each pass will take about 30-60 minutes.

Unexpectedly goes into Sleep Mode... All the time!
I've had this Powerbook for about 2 years now, and I've got some problems. About every 5 or 10 minutes, it goes into sleep mode! It acts as if I close the screen, so I wake it up by pressing the spacebar. But sometimes... pressing the space bar doesn't wake it up, not even holding the power button turns it off! I have to remove the battery to restart it! Can someone help please?
By the way, I checked "Power Save" settings in System Prefs and everything seems to be correct. If you have issues with a Mac or display that goes to sleep at inappropriate times, you may have a problem with Energy Saver. Delete the following .plist files and restart:
-/Library/Preferences/SystemConfiguration/com.apple.PowerManagement.plist
-/Users/username/Library/Preferences/com.apple.systemuiserver.plist--
(username is your name or System Administrators name)
-/Library/Preferences/SystemConfiguration/com.apple.AutoWake.plist
A restart is very important after deleting these plists. After a reboot your Mac will then generate new ones.
Some, in these forums, have had luck fixing sleep issues downloading the Combo update from this site (yours may be corrupt), not Software Update, disconnect all firewire + USB devices except keyboard + mouse, Repair Permissions, re-install update, Repair Permissions again + try.
Yours would be the 10.4.7 Combo update. Others reading, download the combo update that applies to you!
Cheers!

HP Officejet 4620 All-in-One Loses Connection to Wireless Network When It Goes Into Sleep Mode
My HP 4620 All-In-One wireless printer works fine until it goes into sleep mode. Once it goes into sleep mode, it doesn't wake up if a print job is sent to it. If I wake it up manually by pressing the blinking on/off button, it still doesn't print. If I completely turn it off and then on again, the print job that was queued on my computer will start printing, but that's a huge pain and waste of time nearly every time I want to print. I've installed all available updates. I also assigned a static IP address in an effort to correct this but nothing helps. I see that others have complained about this problem, but I do not see that anyone has had success resolving this. My operating system is Windows Vista. I use a Link-Sys Wireless G Router. Thanks.
This question was solved.
View Solution.so I have called HP tech support 12 times over the last 6 weeks and still my HP Officejet 4620 loses connection overnight. Of course becasue it was a birthday present I spent more time than I normally would have on this issue. While the tech are very polite they have not fixed my problem and now it is too late to return printer to store. This is a lot of money wasted and I think they need to admit this is a bug in this printer and resolve the problem!!!!!

When I first got my MacBook Pro my wireless network at home (Linksys Wireless Router) popped right up and I entered the password and had no problems automatically connected after that. I went to a friends house this weekend who also has a wireless router named Linksys, obviously with a different password. Ever since I connected to her network I have to enter my network password at home everytime I start my computer up or wake it up from sleep mode.
My questions is what caused this to happen and how do I reconfigure my network settings so that I don't have to re-enter my password all the time?

Display is all snow coming out of Sleep mode
Just replaced a 17" LCD (using the mini-DVI-to-VGA) with a new Acer 24" widescreen LCD (using mini-DVI-to-DVI). After a little fiddling with the profile, I've got a pretty nice picture. Problem: coming out of sleep mode, the screen is all snow. If I pop the monitor off and on, everything comes back normal. I did NOT have this problem with the older 17". This is more of an annoyance than a major issue, since just a couple of hits of the on-off button correct it. But it ain't right, so I'm hoping I can fix it for good. It happens whether the Mini goes to sleep by itself or if I put it to sleep. I don't know if it's a DVI issue, monitor issue, or something goofy with the Mini's video.
I did a search and found similar issues, but not exactly the same, and saw no suggested resolutions that fixed them. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!
Thanks ...
EdThe 9400M device driver on our Macs appears to be really bad.
My buddy tried to put a Sharp LCD projector on the external port on his Mac laptop, which also had a Nvidia 9400M, and it was not usable. The picture kept coming and going. The projector screen would go blank, then a picture would come up, go blank, and then the picture would come back again, over and over. Being an experienced Mac, PC, and Linux user, I attempted to help him get it working using the display properties page in the System Preferences. Nothing helped.
I'm having similar troubles with the second port on my 9400M on my new Mac mini.
The primary display is fine. I have a 24" Acer LCD on the miniport to DVI converter for my second display, and it works most of the time, however the picture goes to snow fairly often, and blacks out sometimes, too. It usually comes back. Occasionally, I have to power cycle the LCD to get the picture back.
Seeing similar problems with two different DVI display devices, when these devices work fine on our PCs, seems to point the problem at the Mac Nvidia display driver. -
Time Machine crashes external HD coming out of sleep mode
I have a new iMac OS 10.7.3
I am using a SeaGate 1.5 TB external HD for backup.
If I leave the computer on continous everything works fine. It backs up every hour. It has been running fine for over a week.
If I set the iMac in energy saver mode, say 10 minutes, when the iMac comes out of sleep mode there is a warning that Time Machine failed.
I get the following errors messages:
"Time Machine could not complete the Backup"
"Error while creating the Backup Folder"
There is no way to correct it or retry. I have to run disk utility and erase the external HD, re-format, then back everything again.
I would prefer to use the energy save feature of the iMac if I could.
I tried the Apple Support number and they just said leave the iMac in "energy saver NEVER" so the iMac stays on continous.
Any ideas???
Anyone able to let their IMac go in sleep mode with Time Machine turned on???
It seems like a possible bug with 10.7.3???
Tom.........Pondini,
As far as I can tell the Seagate stays up. While the iMac is in sleep mode the Seagate is still running with all lights on.
I will try contacting Seagate.
I am still hoping someone else has an external HD that works with Time Machine. I did a search and several other people seem to be having similar problems like me.

One day i was just flipping through my ipod i put it on sleep mode then next time i opened it without me doing anything it gave me an option of ''slide to power off'' i pressed cancel then it automatically went back to sleep mode it is still happening my ipod is jailbroken and i didnt fiddle with the settings.. please help.
If it is jailbroken, we are not allowed to help you with that here. You'll need to seek out other sources of help. The jailbreaking could potentially be part of the problem, for all I know.
BTW, just a pointer... punctuation is your friend! Your post was very difficult to read without any. Many people will simply stop reading and click the "back" button when encountering something like that, which limits availability of help to you. -
Each time I wake iPad from Sleep mode since IOS8 update I have no cellular service. I have tried a Hard Reset as suggested by others, but the problem persists.

Time Capsule Volume Not Mounted when waking from Sleep Mode
Hello all
Time Capsule 500GB, unibody MBP, 802.11n WPA2 encryption
Question: I setup Time Machine to use the disk on Time Capsule. I entered the password then locked the Time Machine preferences. Time Machine backs up to Time Capsule successfully.
I've started to noticed in particular when using Sleep mode often when the machine wakes up (appears to be random) it loses connection to the disk on Time Capsule despite it being locked in preferences. So I would have to unlock preferences, then click on Change Disk, click on TC's disk and enter the password and it connects successfully.
My question is...what is causing Time Machine to unable to mount TC's disk? I have a full strength wireless signal once the laptop wakes up from sleep. I can browse the Internet, use the Airport Utility, etc. however randomly Time Machine can't find TC's disk. After upgrading to 7.4.1 firmware it fixed my problem

I have a bunch of Apple devices in my house (kids) and don't like the idea of all these devices (iPads, iPod touches, iPhones) always being connected to my home WIFI. Ideally, I would prefer the devices connect automatically when they are in use by a human and log off the network when they (the devices) go to sleep mode or are turned off.
This is not an answer, more of a question. I know that when a pad goes to sleep, it drops the connection. We all remember the thousands of posts from folks who had trouble re establishing the connection after waking up in the early days. What is different now is the use of push, and notifications. If you have these enabled, doesn't that mean that the wifi needs to stay active?
I notice that I have notifications on the screen that came in while asleep, and I can only believe that the wifi saw them. This is different from the old behavior or re grabbing the wifi.
So, to Pam, on one the devices you are concerned about, turn off notifications, fetch and push, put it to sleep, and see if it drops off the network. I am kind of curious.
By the way, having the wifi active has not shown me any battery usage. The router certainly does not care. Security is at the router end, so if somebody wants to hijack my signal, it does not matter if the pad is active or not. So I guess I am not clear either on what your issue might be. -
'You can download past purchases on this computer with just one Apple ID every 90 days. You cannot associate this computer with a different Apple ID for 67 days.'
What is this? It's the most frustrating thing, and I just wnt to scream 'I DIDN'T'. 23 days ago I did because I was unaware of the new 90 day rule.
But this time, i didn't do anything. I was watching a TV series, and I was purchasing the episodes one at a time (in hopes that this would encourage me to stop and go to sleep after i finished the next one). Anyway I had just finished watching episode 3 and purchased 4 and it had begun to download, when I left my laptop to go get something to eat came back n it had obviously gone into sleep mode. so had to continue the download BUT when I try to continue the download the 'message' pops up. I haven't signed out, it's purchased under j_akale, so I don't understand.
<Edited by Host>Frist tip, after installing software updates (I assure your machine started off with 10.4.2 and when you first used it, you were promted to update to 10.4.4.), go into the utlities folder (under applications) open disk utlitity and verifity and repaire disk permissions, this will greatly boost preformace and may fix your problem. (In fact do this once a week) Go ahead and run the Techtool (Applecare hardware test CD) and check for any problems. If these come up with nothing, I'd call Applecare and tell them what is happening. Applecare will cover you at any Apple dealer and some Apple resellers as well. Going elsewhere will kill your warrenty BTW.
