[All Platforms][Social] Social Features in collaborative playlists

The friends I grew up with and I have just started adding songs in to a collaborative playlist.  We share a great deal in common and music was something we shared strongly. The problem is that there is no engagement on the playlist. We have spoken about the playlist a lot on whatsapp and have been talking about each others suggestions, but there is no way to discuss or engage with spotify. I would suggest that even a like button for the songs would be a good start, so a friend adds a song to a playlist I like, I would like to be able to show that without having to discuss in a different medium.  Upvotes and down votes, as well as skipped tracks would be a great way to keep on top of what people are enjoying and not.  Also comments or a small forum attached to the playlist would create a place that we could truly engage with the music and each other. It just seems a shame that when I am using the app, I have to leave it, or use a completely different device to actually discuss this with the people I am sharing with. Thanks for reading  Chris

  • [All Platforms][Social] Option to Restrict Inbox Messages to Friends Only (because f*** spam)

As of late, Spotify has a burgeoning spam issue.  I will receive 2-3 spam messages a day in my desktop app inbox.  I continue to block all of these bots, but new ones pop up daily. To mitigate this, we should have the option to block all communication except from those we follow, or those who follow us.  Some bots automatically follow and then begin to send messages, but this could be prevented by also allowing an option to privatize your account such that new followers must be approved - a la Instragram, Facebook, etc. Thanks!!

Would love to see a way Spotify can search my local contact list and/or a specifiy gmail account contact list (with permission of-course) and send out short sweet Spotify friend requests.  While your at it. Develop a program similar to "dropbox" for referrels. If you refer somebody and they sign up, you get a month free or the like.

Hello, i have a wonderful idea for all. When you drive with your car and you don't have an USB hub in your car you can need an CD with your playlist's in copy. So please Spotify, can you paste a function where we can burn our playlist's on a CD. Only for premium Users! Best regards from Germany - reaperfist

  • [All Platforms] New UI for On-the-Fly Collaborative Playlists

The idea came to me following a house party. There were four of us and we couldn’t decide whose Spotify playlist we should listen to. The decision was, as usual with us, to play one song per person. This didn’t work well either as only one device could be connected through Bluetooth to the stereo system at a time. Once a song finished there had to be a long wait for another song to start while one device disconnected from the stereo system and another connected, then all over again.. We gave up on the music all together in the end.
The next morning the solution seemed obvious to me. It would make things a lot easier if we could have a shared playlist. At the moment I know it is possible to share your own playlist with friends, but haven’t heard about one that can be created by several people at the same time in such an easy way.
The idea is simple, but in my view would solve the problem my friends and I had at the house party. It works in the following way:
Let’s say I want to create a new playlist that I could share with several people in the room. I create a playlist on the main device, call it ‘Alena’s House Party’. I then choose a list of people I want to share my playlist with (these would be people I follow already or another Spotify user that I can easily browse).  A message appears on the personal devices of the people I have selected to accept the invitation. Once this is done a bubble (like the one in Facebook messenger) appears on all the relevant devices including the main device. This is the new Spotify playlist I have just created. Now my friends and I can browse our personal playlists and drag and drop the songs we want to add to ‘Alena’s House Party’. As a host, I get to review and sort the suggestions. Alternatively, to be absolutely fair, one song per person could be automatically selected from the list of suggested songs.
The plus of this is that it is easy to use. The bubble can appear anywhere on the screen on your mobile and you can sort your songs at any time, it also allows you to copy your favourite songs in the new playlist by dragging and dropping from various existing playlists on Spotify. And of course makes it easier to share music with your friends instantly and without a hustle.

Hi, thank you for your reply. I have tried using 'Collaborative playlist'
feature as you describe but failed to figure out how it works. Am I correct
in thinking that by using this feature you can take an existing playlist
and and allow someone else to edit it? If so, I believe my idea is
different and certainly would be easier to understand and use. I am
suggesting a totally new playlist that would be created on the go. Say, I
add a few songs (could be from different playlists) and my friends can do
the same from their own playlists. The application would be easy to use as
all you need to do is drag and drop a song into a bubble, which is the
    shared playlist.
Therefore, I wouldn't like the case to be closed. If you feel you need to
change the description, please do so.
    Thank you

  • [All Platforms][Playlists] Please restore View as Album List feature

View as Album List was a great feature. Based on comments I have seen on other forums, I am not the only one who thinks so. Please restore this feature. Reasons:1) Images are much easier to see than text. I have reached the age of reading glasses. Before this feature was removed, I could easily find songs / albums in playlists. Now I have to find my glasses beforehand! 2) Images are much more compelling and attractive than text. A picture tells a thousand words etc. The whole look and feel of Spotify is enhanced through the use of album images. Removing them seems like going against good user experience practice. 3) Nostalgia. Although I love Spotify and I firmly believe that subscription is the future of music, I still feel some nostalgia for "possessing" a collection of albums. Displaying album covers reinforces the feeling of having a collection of albums in a playlist. Note that all three arguments apply equally to desktop and iPad versions of Spotify. November 2013: Response to the comments from Spotify...- There is no need for a cmd+G control. All playlists should always display the album cover.- The Collections product was announced almost a year ago but there is no sign of it.- A Collections product that simply displays the thousands of albums that I have ever listened to is not a viable solution in my opinion. I would need multiple collections (i.e.. playlists). May-2014I have created a new idea http://community.spotify.com/t5/Spotify-Ideas/Display-Album-Cover-on-Your-Music-Songs/idi-p/791029 requesting cover art on your music (and playlists). Please give it your kudos. July 2015I note that Apple Music displays album art on playlists on all platforms.

Again - We shouldn't have to vote about stuff like this. Of course there should be an album list. And it should also be obvious how to enable it, not just with a keyboard command or obscure menu option. Also - please consider an album view in the mobile apps as well. I have a lot of playlists with just albums, and they are a pain in the ass to use on the Iphone / Ipad.

  • Updated Site Zones and AAM - Now Social features URLs are wrong... Sometimes?

So we just deployed the following SharePoint sites into production with the default site extended to the Extranet zone as followed:
    Default - https://share.domain.com:444 - NTLM Auth
    Extranet - https://share.domain.com - ADFS\SAML Claims Auth
    Default - https://my.domain.com:444 - NTLM Auth
    Extranet - https://my.domain.com - ADFS\SAML Claims
    Default - https://search.domain.com:444 - NTLM Auth
    Extranet - https://search.domain.com - ADFS\SAML Claims
The default zone is used for search only while all users access SharePoint through the Extranet zone. Search works fine when looking for documents and people. My issues start showing up in the social features.
For instance, if I click on the "Sites" link in the top bar I see the sites I follow along with the suggested sites. The URLs for the sites I follow are correct. However, the Suggested Sites all return the Default Zone URL. When I follow a document
or site however, the URL is always of the Default zone in my activity feed. Alerts for new content use the Default zone in the email; yet alerts for sharing approval use the correct Extranet zone. To top it off if I search for anything on any of
the sites, the URLs are correct for the zone I am in. Now here is the real crazy part. We have the same configuration in a Test domain deployment and everything works perfectly!?
Any ideas? The only thing different is that production goes through an F5 for both internal and external access. While test goes through a reverse proxy for external access and internal access goes straight to the WFE server.

    Hi Nick,
For the Suggested Sites, we need to click the fresh button to fresh the sites, and then the URL for the sites will display with the corresponding zone URL.
For the alerts, it is a known issue in SharePoint.
The Immediate Alerts are sent based on the SiteURL column stored in the ImmedSubScriptions table of the content database.
This means that the alerts are sent based on the URL the user used when the subscription was made.
As a workaround so far, we need to add the zone for external users to the zone that allows cross firewall access.

    http://sureshpydi.blogspot.com/2013/07/sharepoint-2013-configure-external.html
However, this workaround does not apply to Newsfeed notification emails.
    Best regards.

  • [Android][Social] Greater Social Features for Spotify

I would like to bring the social features even more visible. I would also like people to be able to see my playlists more, perhaps a like button when I create one. Alot of times, people do not know that I have sent them music to their inbox. I would love to see that feature more to forefront. I love my spotify, but don't feel  everyone can easily find each other's playlists or reccomendations.  I'm part of Spotify and have chosen this as my premiere service. I  want to share my playlists and I want others to be able to share with me more easily.

  • I would like to know if the new mountain lion social feature works with firefox.

I added social networking to my accounts on mountain lion. In Safari there is a share button directly next to the address bar. I am wondering if this feature is also compatible with firefox. I can't seem to find a share button.

hello, the developers at mozilla are already working on an integration of sharing & social features into the browser - at the moment they are scheduled to land in firefox 17.
in the meantime you could try the ''firefox share'' addon: https://addons.mozilla.org/firefox/addon/firefox-share-alpha/

  • Can't add to collaborative playlist

I am trying to use the collaborative playlist feature for the first time. I made my playlist collaborative and sent the link to a freind. When she clicks on the link she goes to a URL on play.spotify.com and she can see the playlist but can't add to it.
She then made a playlist, made it collaborative and sent me her link. The same thing happens. I click the link, go to a play.spotify.com URL but can't figure out how to add to her playlist.
When I open my spotify app, I can not figure out how to see the collaborative playlist she sent me.
I am a premium user, signed in with facebook
she is a free user, signed in withou facebook
Plese hlep! We need to finish this playlist inthe next few days!
    Thank you.

Hey  -- welcome to the Community!
If it's the first time you're using collaborative playlists, you might not know that you have to be Following it to be able to add it. As soon as you're Following it, you should be able to add tracks to it as you do any other playlist.
If it's still not working though, try it in the desktop app, either by changing the URl to "open.spotify.com" rather than "play.spotify.com" in the address bar, or head into the web player settings and change links to open automatically in the desktop app.
    Hope that helps!

I cannot get a WiFi signal, which means that I cannot access all of the other features on my ipod. Is there anyway I can access all of the other features without Siri or WiFi?

Hi. The two user tips both describe a sequence of steps that should get your library from the point where it threatens to wipe data from your device to where it is syncing normally, while recovering as much information as possible. It may still be necessary to wipe and reload the device but this should only take place once all the data that can be recovered has been recovered.
Doing step 1 of 8 and then complaining things aren't the way you want them to be yet strikes me as premature...
Since you appear to have all your media content, and we are discussing an iPod classic, not an iOS device, the main worries are already taken care of. What's left is ratings, playcounts, playlist membership and checked status. Since your device holds only part of your library at best you could only recover the missing data for the content that is on the device using third party tools.
Recreating the previous checked/unchecked status of every track in your library from where you are now may not be that easy. Syncing with selected playlists has many advantages, one of which would have been that you would have a named playlist that could have been retrieved by 3rd party software if you had used this method.
You haven't explained what caused your problem in the first place, but if you have a Previous iTunes Libraries folder holding old copies of your iTunes database (generated with each iTunes update) then it would be possible to restore the most recent of these and then update the library with any changes in your media folder.
BTW Apple doesn't offer free support for this kind of issue with iTunes.

  • [All Platforms][Other] Last.fm With Account, Not Client

I'm a user of Last.fm and I love that Spotify let's me use it in every device I use Spotify. But whenever I change my phone or unninstall Spotify by some reason anywhere, I have to fill my credentials again to let Spotify scrobble my music into my Last.fm account. As a feature request, it'd be great to have this Last.fm integration but within the account and not the client. Let's hipothetically say that we have a log in option into Last.fm in My Profile section of Spotify (Web). If we'd use that, we wouldn't need to log the credentials for Last.fm again on another device, and just by signing in with Spotify account we could start listening to music without worrying if the songs were being scrobbled or not.

  • I was logged in with a temporary profile on my pc, after restarting everything seemed to be fine. But my iTunes music is all in the cloud now, and my playlists are gone. What do I do?

I was logged in with a temporary profile on my pc, after restarting everything seemed to be fine. But my iTunes music is all in the cloud now, and my playlists are gone. What do I do?
My iTunes media folder shows ALL of my music still there (including all from imported CD's), but on my iTunes, it says most of it is in the cloud? As well as my playlists that I have had for YEARS, are all gone. I just recently got a new laptop and had my iTunes transferred over, when I re-downloaded iTunes onto it, everything popped up perfectly from this same file. Now after this "Temporary Profile" mishap, nothing is working properly with iTunes.
    Help! Please.

Do this. If all the synced media like apps and music are alread in the the iTnunes library just backup the iPod and restore from that backup

  • JFileChooser applet doesn't work on all platforms

We have a signed Java applet which works perfectly on Windows XP and Linux but malfunctions on Windows 7 and MacOS 10.5.
The part which does not work is opening up a JFileChooser (which opens up fine) which then permits the user to browse local files only but not folders on network drives. When the user double-clicks on a network folder or clicks the Open button, nothing happens. The folder is not opened and there are no exceptions reported in the console.
Obviously it presents as some kind of security violation/exception but, as I said, there are no exceptions in the console and it works fine on some OSes but not others. I have examined the permissions on a folder that does open and one that doesn't (i.e. a network folder) and they certainly are different but I can't spot any obvious problems. All machines have the exact same version of Java (i.e. 1.6.0_20) and it doesn't appear to a 32-bit vs. 64-bit issue as there is a mix of architectures that are working and not working.
Can anyone suggest how I might go about debugging this or perhaps suggest a resolution? Given that the code that is being executed at the time is Swing code and not application code I am at a bit of a loss as to how to solve this problem.
    The Logical Animal

It could be the JFileChooser code is being altered or displayed on a thread other than the EDT. OTOH that more typically manifests as a random bug on instances of the application on all platforms/JREs.
