Can I please ask that before posting in the main forums (where this message is) that you check a couple of things first:
1 - Is this the correct place to post?
See if there is a subforum that is more suitable - this will get you help & answers to problems a lot faster as this is a 'user-to-user' forum, and a lot of members have specialities that they check first. For example, a problem with, say, menus or buttons should go into the "menus & Buttons" subforum. Likewise, a problem with encoded video should also go into the Video handling & encoding subforum.
This is not the "main" forum - it is for posting questions that do not actually fit in anywhere else.
2 - Has somebody else already posted on the problem?

"Burner not recognized"
or whatever. Duplicate posts only reduce your chances of getting assistance, plus they mess up the forums making it harder to search for answers.
Finally, I cannot emphasize strongly enough that these are

forums, not Adobe Support forums. All members here are ordinary guys working with Encore or a related application - not Adobe tech personnel.
Sorry to bang on about this, but following these simple rules will help you all to get the assistance you need faster.

It is my understanding that the Adobe employees, who do frequent the fora, do so on their own time, so their presence is not an "official" Adobe presence. However, they are able to offer many insights, that average "users" just might not be privy to. With very few exceptions, the posters' ties to Adobe are kept subrosa, and with good reason. There are often posters, who assume that these are true Adobe tech fora, and use them to whip Adobe into action. If they knew who the Adobe employees were, they'd be relentless and the helpful aspect of the fora would be greatly diminished.
It is comforting that there IS an Adobe presence here, but by design and definition, it is not required, as these are "user-to-user" fora.
I would like to think that the Adobe folk do take problems back to the office with them to share with the coders, the product managers, etc. Over the decades, Adobe has impressed me, a consumer, that they do care and work very hard to improve the various products for me. I know that Adobe does surveys in these fora to help them find what is most important to the greatest number of users. In these fora, they have a great asset - a bunch of users in one place with a publicly accessible forum, from which to gather data. I'd wager that a lot of beta testing is done by people, who contribute here. Again, by design, we'll probably not know who these folk are, as they will have signed a non-disclosure agreement. Besides, the things that they see might well not make it into a final release, so no sense in getting peoples' hopes up for something that might not be in the release. Most of these folk have business to do, and are giving of their spare time to test the upcoming product. They do not need people, such as me, pestering them for tidbits on the new program.
As for investment, I have my portfolio populated with companies that I think will make me money in the long run, and that are also good companines, whose policies I agree with. I try to temper my selections evenly between the two aspects.

  • Ipod not connecting again, apple please read this.

    First let me state that I made posts awhile back about my Ipod touch not being able to be recognized by itunes at all and just as a camera by windows. Now every single guide did nothing to help and the FEW people that posted had posted things I already did that did not help.
    HOWEVER the version of Itunes that was prior to the one I just downloaded connected PERFECTLY with no issues.
    But I just updates and wouldnt you know it, the connection problem is BACK. Apple please read this, the last version of Itunes had something different with how it connected to the Ipod...PLEASE bring that back, its so inconvenient not being able to connect to my own Ipod
    If someone wants to post a reply that might help feel free...but everything on this website and even a few others not posted here have not worked, this is mostly me praying that Apple reads it...that tiny difference on how it connected made a huge difference with my computer.

    Thanks. I worked out a simpler method of turning off the internet access - just switching off my wireless modem. Either way, this works and with the PC not connected to the internet, all three Apple devies will sync.
    Thinking about it now, I had a similar problem a few versions ago which I recognised because with Home Sharing on and connected to the internet iTunes was trying to find files from someone in another hotel room who also sharing the hotel's wireless network. My devices would not sync then either. This seemed to be resolved with subsequent itunes upgrades until now ....
    Thanks for the advice. Let's hope Apple's next 'update' actually updates itunes so it can sync Apple devices whilst simultaneously connected to the internet (not a big ask really).

    Well - it looks like you have really taken well to the new Nokia Software Updater. We can also see that there is a little bit of confusion about the service in its present state right now.
    So... We got an email from the NSU team that gives a bit more info on the topic:
    The Nokia Software Updater checks which software is available for your particular phone by comparing the software you currently have with latest software assigned to the 7 digit product code of your phone. If newer software is available for your 'variant', it will be downloaded.
    In case the Nokia Software Updater says no new software is available but you believe this to be incorrect, please post your product code to these boards.

    Your product code can be found on the label in the battery compartment (e.g. 0501234).
    So, if you do run into problems, it would be a really great idea to let Nokia know what your product code is. If you find yourself needing to call or email Nokia on the topic - please include this code so that our support teams can get straight down to helping you out.

    Greetings everyone.
    I contacted Nokia Support, and they sent me some info on how to get support locally some days ago. However, I plugged my phone again today and voila! to my surprise, it detected the new firmware and right now that I'm typing, I am updating to the new version.
    I'm not sure but I think I should thank Nokia Support for registering my Product Code and certainly for responding to my request in quite a short time.
    I should also thank all the other guys who gave me help on this issue, specially scoopyman.

  • ATTENTION ALL 27" iMAC OWNERS: PLEASE READ THIS THREAD

    Hello. Firstly, apologies for the attention-grabbing title, but ultimately I need as many people to test this out as I possibly can.
    Here's a basic run down of my problem: if I leave a window open on my display for about 10 mins, and then minimise it, and bring up a dark grey background such as iPhoto, Spotify, or a set desktop flat colour of dark grey, I can still see the text and display pictures semi-burnt into my screen, temporarily. They do fade after a while, but it is still annoying that it does this (I am a graphic designer, so I could potentially be working with dark images, and I don't fancy seeing my facebook messages over the top of my work).
    I had this issue with the iMac which I purchased last Thursday, and I returned it to Stormfront (my local Apple Authorised Reseller) and they acknowledged the issue and gave me a completely new iMac. However, yet again, this computer has the exact same issue, which makes me think it may be an issue with quite a few of the 27" iMac's.
    Therefore, I would like to ask if you, as the owner of a 27" iMac have a few spare minutes so that you can help me find out if this is a rare issue and I've just been unlucky, or if it's a wider issue with several iMac's.
    Please follow the step by step guide I have created below: the burn-in effect image is not a screenshot, however I have recreated the effect on Photoshop so you know what to look for. Thank you in advance for reading this, and helping me out; please let me know what results you get from this test.
    I am especially interested in users of the current Thunderbolt 27" iMac, with the high-end spec (3.1 GHz Intel Quad Core i5/4GB RAM/1TB HDD/Radeon HD 6970M HD). Please, if you own a different model also carry out these tests - your screen may have the same issue.
    Step 1: Change your desktop background to a dark grey colour. Go to System Preferences > Desktop and Screensaver > Desktop > Apple/Solid Colours > Cutom Colour... > Using the greyscale slider under the second colour picker tab, enter a value of around 15%. Set this as your desktop.
    Step 2: Open a white-backgrounded application. Position it somewhere on your screen (preferably the left as this is where I experience it at it's worst), and leave the application there for around 10 minutes.
    Step 3: Once 10 minutes is up, minimise the window, and study the area where the window was. If you have this issue, you will still be able to make out the elements from the open window (in my case, my Twitter followees display pictures and tweets). Here is a mocked up version of how it appears, created in Photoshop. As the issue is hardware related (I think), it doesn't appear in screenshots.     Step 4: Please let me know the result, and the specs of your computer. I am contemplating phoning Apple to make them aware of this issue, but wanted to see if it's just me before deciding it's a hardware issue.
    For me, I think I'll wait until the next Lion update is released, in case it offers a graphics driver update. Otherwise, I guess this one will be going back too.

    What you are seeing is called Display Persistence.  All LCD displays have a certain amount.  Some less some more.  This includes models from the same build.  I have linked Apples response to what your seeing.  I did the setup you said and saw no persistence on mine.  If I had let it set longer I am sure it would have shown up.

    General
    Where do I get the latest software, drivers and firmware?
    Click the link Support > Downloads on this page.
    In general, when installing on a new PC you need to download the driver, and some software to communicate with the player e.g. MediaSource, Media Explorer. For players using the v2.xx MTP/PlayForsure firmware drivers are not necessary, but you must have Windows XP and Windows Media Player 0 (this provides the MTP driver).
    Important: Even though files are described as updates, none of the software requires a previous version to install. At worst they will prompt you to connect your player to verify you own a Creative product.
    Note if you are downloading MediaSource make sure to download and install the relevant MediaSource plugin for your player. If MediaSource can't detect your player this is the first thing to check. For the v.xx PDE firmware the plugin is called the Creative Zen and NOMAD Jukebox plugin for Creative MediaSource , and for the v2 MTP/PlayForSure firmware it's called Creative MediaSource Plugin for PlaysForSure devices .
    I am completely new to MP3 players, where should I start?

    If you can, the best test is to try your player with another PC, to see if you still have the problem. This localises whether the problem is with the PC (most likely the USB) or the player. See the link below (search on "connection problems") for a lot more troubleshooting on this.
    What bit-rate should I encode my music at?
    Ultimately it's down to your ears what bit-rate you prefer, and you should listen for yourself to determine it. If you ask on the forum you'll get many different opinions.

    How long should my battery last?
    For the Zen and Nomad Jukebox players, to get some idea of how long your battery will last for a given bit-rate look at the battery curves thread. Ultimately battery life is dependent on how you use the player, make sure to follow the "why doesn't my battery last as long as expected?" link below.
    How long does an RMA take?
    Typically 2 weeks. But it might take a little longer, so don't start posting if it's 5 days.

    Where can I buy online music or get legal downloads for my player?

    My tracks don't play at the correct speed e.g. they play too slowly, why?
    Chances are they are encoded in an unsupported sampling frequency. The tracks will need to be re-encoded at a supported bit-rate and/or frequency with something like Creative's MediaSource Audio Converter or dbPowerAmp.
    Can a Creative player work on an Apple Mac?
    It isn't officially supported, but some kind folks out there have written freeware applications to get your Creative player working with Macs. XNJB provides support for the Zen players, and requires OS X 0.3 or 0.4 (check the site for full details). MuVoHelper solves some problems with getting the MuVo to work optimally. The iTunes Zen plugin should support all Zen players. Note if the link to the plugin is broken just Google "iTunes Zen plugin" to find other sources. Also note there's no guarantee that these programs will work with the Mac, so if you have issues you should address your problems to the developer(s) of the relevant program.
    Can a Creative player work on Linux?
    Again it isn't officially supported, but again some kinds folks out there have written freeware applications to get your Creative player working. There's the Gnomad2 project. And don't forget the Linux forum at Nomadness.net if you are still having problems.
    Tag Based Players
    This section covers the players that use a hard disk and work using tags e.g. Zen Xtra, Touch, Micro, Sleek.
    My Zen is not behaving properly, won't startup, or goes into rescue mode. What should I do?
    If the Zen is not starting properly or not behaving correctly, first try to reset it. To reset all players except for the Zen Micro there is a small switch on the side of the player typically, that you should press using something like a bent paper clip. Don't use anything sharp. To reset the Zen Micro simply remove the battery and replace it.
    If this doesn't work then access rescue mode, and try running a disk cleanup.
    Next you should try reloading the firmware/OS, but beware if you are having connection problems also with your PC you may end up with a player that has no firmware and cannot be reloaded.
    The last resort is to format the player. This will erase the contents from the player, including the content that ships with the player.
    If none of these resolve the problem and you are under warranty you should get in contact with support to arrange replacement of the player.
    If you aren't under warranty Creative will still repair the player, which you can arrange by contacting support.
    How do I do a Disk Cleanup and/or access Rescue/Recovery Mode?
    Refer to the sticky Rescue Mode thread. Disk Cleanup is accessed from this. Note that the MuVo players (with the exclusion of the MuVo? players) do not have Rescue Mode.
    How long should a Disk Cleanup take?
    It should only take a few minutes, and no longer than 30 minutes. Anything longer than this and there is a problem with the player and you need to contact Creative Support.
    How long should a format take?
    Only a few seconds. Anything more than a minute and there is a problem with the player and you need to contact Creative Support.
    Although I can get into Rescue Mode, I can't select any option, or the options don't work?
    If Rescue Mode is not working properly or commands can't be chosen the player is faulty. You need to contact Creative Support.
    When are the Zen 20Gb/Neeon going to be released outside of the Asia Pacific region?
    Due to popular request the Neeon is launched in the USA, but nowhere else for now. If you want the Neeon then contact your regions Customer Services to request it.
    The Zen 20Gb is available from some shops in the USA and Europe e.g. Cambridge Soundworks, and Amazon.co.uk.
    Is there a known issue with the Zen Micro headphone socket?
    Creative Support have neither confirmed nor denied it officially. Some users have posted purported emails from Creative on the forum saying that the socket has been reinforced, but these have not been confirmed by Creative Support either. The exact incidence of the problem is unknown, but newer players seem to suffer less from it.
    Should I buy the Zen Micro or Touch etc. and what colour should it be?
    We can't tell you what player to get, or what colour it should be. Look at your collection size and the features of the player (see Nomadworld.com for the product pages) and decide yourself based on this.
    Why does my Zen Micro battery drain so quickly?
    The standby time (24 hours from turn-off) for the Zen Micro seems to use a lot more power than previous Zens. Creative have released both v (..0+) and v2 (2.20.05+) firmware that reduces the standby time to 4 hours. Make sure to update to one of these if you have a draining problem.

    First of all we need your stats so we can determine if or not their is an issue:

    and then please copy and paste your adsl stats making sure you expand to show all details:
    We need to determine whether you have a throughput or speed or IP profile issue, there is only one official speed tester that BT will accept for speed test and you need to go to http://www.speedtester.bt.com and then type click on the ADSL/FTTC option:
    and then type in your phone number, wait for the results to be displayed:
    and once the results have been displayed with your IP Profile please copy and paste the results to your post.
    Also searching your exchange on http://www.samknows.com/broadband/exchange_search , this is not neccessary but can sometimes help.
    Always make sure you try changing the filters this can be a common problem.  If you have a mastersocket with a split front then unscrew the bottom bit and behind there should be a hidden test socket, you usually should try to test your broadband in there to make sure your internal wiring ins't causing interference this can be one of the highest common factors of slow broadband.  Usually your broadband will be dependant on your line length from the exchange which will be based on your attenuation, so if your far from the exchange your not likely to get a great speed on ADSL.
    Also dialling 17070 and pressing Option 2 to do a quiet line test will show if you have any noise on your line.  If there's any noise on your line, try changing your filter's first and then call (0800 800) 151 and report a line fault don't mention broadband and go from there.

    Although I appreciate the sentiments and would speed the initial diagnosis. I do feel it would put some members off, in particular ones who have had a issue for some time and more so customers who have had the "helpline" experience and have been passed pillar to post.  Being directed to another link comes across for me, as a bit "helpline".  I feel at this point, many would want some 1 to 1  (therapy) and they are being listened too with regards to there broadband issue. 
    I've seen users irate very recently, just by a simple request of hub stats posted by copy & paste.  We all do it, however it can come across, corporate avoidance (helpline).  At times I have PM,  something similar with regards to our end responsibilities, depending how I believe, they are presenting themselves on the forum

    Hey Guys, I just wanted to share something with all of you, this forum does not get enough attention from the people who already know how to use the full strength of Java3D, and since there are so many unanswered questions here, and I'm sure most of them are solved by the authors them selfs, please do waste 5 min of your valuable time and post what you find as the best way to solve your problem, because we are here to help others as well, so please do.

    Okay, I understand that I'm not going to get mms right now, but please change this!!!
    There is no reason that the www.viewmessage.com url doesn't include the message id and password which would make my life and everyone else's way easier. Please just make the "Viewmymessage" template to something like www.viewmymessage.com/?MSGID=q21xddmfs&Pass=asdwsdf3 -- Even if it just fills the form fields on the viewmymessage.com site. ANYTHING would be better then trying to remember the most cryptic message id and password ever!

    Please bear in mind that this is a global forum, viewed by members from all over the world. Please make good use of the 'Location' field in your Profile, and please also state your TV signal type (eg PAL, NTSC) as well as source (aerial, cable, satellite). That should reduce chance of answers that are not really appropiate for your location.

    I developed a program with php and mysql.in php file I am using applet tag to print out some informations.when I connected from client to the server.in that page I cant run applet.in client browser I have java plugin too.if I tried applets and also this print applet in my laptop it is working but if I put them into the server and if I connect from client applet isnt working problem is this.please someone help me

    I just sent an enhancement request to Apple regarding the lack of a feature to clearly show which music is has been downloaded and saved to an iOS device, please read the request I sent and consider sending yours to Apple also:
    Hi, for those of us who are iTunes Match sibscribers and who don't have all-you-can-eat data plans on our iOS devices, the best option is to download the music we plan on listening to while we're on the move before we leave home.
    At the moment there is no easy way to find music downloaded to an iOS device from iTunes Match.
    Please either add a field within the iOS Music app titled 'downloaded from iTunes Match' or simply, 'iTunes Match', which could be selected alongside 'Songs', 'Compilations', 'Genres' etc, or add a field to Smart Playlists in iTunes which would also allow you to see which songs have been downloaded from iTunes Match and are available to play without a network connection.

    On the iOS device go to Settings > Music and set "show all music" to OFF (not green).

  • Would an Adobe Staff Person please read this?

    I'm wondering why Adobe has never fixed a problem that has been frustrating to me and other users for years. If you try to use the Upload button in the Files panel to upload a file to your website you frequently get a Waiting for Server message and the upload often times out.
    If I do the identical task at the same time in Transmit, the file uploads in a few seconds.
    I've drawn attention to this problem several times, both in this forum and by posting Bug Reports to Adobe.
    So far, year after year, the problem has not been fixed.
    If there's a staff person who reads this, would you please find out whether or not this defect is ever going to be fixed?

    I sent a bug report to Adobe and, to my suprise, got a reply. But the workaround is disappointing. It basically says "wait longer".
    We would like to let you know that we are aware of this issue and have an internal bug # 3561917 for this. We are working to prioritize it for fixing.
    Please try the steps mentioned below:
    1.       Launch Dreamweaver CC
    2.       Go to menu “Dreamweaver -> Preferences…” to open the “Preferences” dialog
    3.       Go to “Site” category in “Preferences” dialog
    4.       Increase the value of “FTP time out” from 30 seconds to a higher value, let us say 180 seconds
    5.       Click “Apply” and the “Close”.
    Now you can try out your FTP scenarios.

  • CMSS can cause for weird results. Please read this if you have surround issues

    I'm a musician who frequently uses the Audio creation mode because this is the environment most optimal for creating music. For some time now, I've facing a certain problem where today, I finally found the solution about.
    my problem
    The problem I was having, is that some applications (they're optimised for stereo) played sound on my center speaker differently than those who use the windows 7 drivers. What happened in a nutshell, is that when I play sound in flash, the center speaker volume is about 3 times as loud as all the other speakers. Although this gives a nice and clear sound for presentations, this can be a pain when you want to listen to music.
    my setup
    For me, this is a bit awkward, because I have a big room where my speakers are positioned for my TV. My computer is next to my tv, but my center speaker is not in front of my pc monitor, but rather in front of my tv. Due to this, the right ear gets way more sound than my left one. Strangely enough, it weren't all the applications that had trouble with this. My music player plays everything equally throughout my speakers.
    the mixer
    The creative mixer (startup console) has several ways of tweaking this. Like assigning what channels to play if sound gets played through L/R, and their individual volume bars. You can guess it maybe. Changing these settings affected both applications differently. I could use the sliders to fix one, and then mess up the other. So when I went through all my settings I couldn't find what causes this.
    CMSS is the fault here
    I went reading this forum, and came to this post: http://forums.creative.com/t5/Sound-Blaster/How-to-enable-sound-for-my-center-rear-and-side-speakers-using/td-p/52 What gives, this option is not available when you are in Audiocreation mode. So it shouldn't affect my sound right? WRONG!
    the problem
    Even though you can't tweak the settings during audio creation mode, the settings are still in affect. So you have to switch to entertainment mode to access the CMSS-3D. I went there, and I had stereo enhancing surround enabled. When I changed that, it solved my problem. Since during audio creation, I mainly use stereo applications, I do not need surround enhancement.
    my setup now
    I turned it off, and as suspected, windows only parses sound to the left and right, not the other channels, even in audio creation mode. In the mixer, I have enabled output to all 7 channels I have for L/R output, and now the sound gets balanced to all my speakers. True, I get stereo sound over all the speakers, but when I want to use surround, I switch to the entertainment mode anyway.
    Could a mod sticky this? I think its worth to have this stickied.

    So my touchpad wasn't working and I have an HP dv6-6135dx. It started being messed up shortly after I took my PC apart to upgrade the screen. Sometimes it worked perfectly, sometimes it was completely unresponsive, sometimes the ring around the touchpad was lit, other times it wasn't etc.... It got worse and worse to the point where the touch pad almost never worked.
    I followed this guide, and it didn't fix the problem; however, this got me thinking, and I pulled the keyboard out and reseated the touchpad cable where it connects right under there. BAM works perfectly. THANK YOU so much for this post, for some reason I didn't think to reseat the cable... I must have not plugged it back in completely when I took my laptop apart.   • For all those out there with Iphone5 WIFI issues,Please READ THIS

    I pre-ordered my iphone 5 (Black) got that last week. Quickly backed up my Iphone 4 and Restored my iphone 5.The first thing i checked to see is connecting to my WIFI network at home. And i kept getting a message "UNABLE TO CONNECT TO THE NETWORK". I had the iphone 4 aside and i can see iphone 4 is connected just fine. So are my laptop, Ipad and other devices.
    So what is different in Iphone5?
    After couple of days of head banging, and phone calls with apple support. I finally gave up and went to a apple store , they said, They have not heard any WIFI issues and my case was the first , However to keep me happy they said they will replace my device, But if have the same issue ,they will NOT be able to replace it again. And they even showed me the new iphoen connects to their "Non-secured" apple WIFI network.
    So i take the new phone home, and the first thing i try is connecting to WIFI.And i still get "Unable to connect to the wifi network ".And i still can see Iphone 4 working fine and connecting to the same network just fine. With the second iphone5 also not working, I realized it is not hardware, but something surely changed with WIFI in iphone 5. I have a NETGEAR router with its latest firmware installed(2.0.26). I then downgraded my firmware to 2.0.21, then gave a shot.
    BINGO..Iphone 5 works fine connects to wifi.and so is my iphone4 too.
    So for all those users out there, the fact is something changed in iphone 5 WIFI algorithm. And if anyone really disagrees with me on this, I am going to post a video to demonstrate on YOUTUBE. I believe it is completely UNFAIR for apple to now ask you Upgrade/change your router or its firmware. And it is not fair for router companies to Fix anything to make their firmware compatible with iphone5.
    So iphone 5 Users, Please lets us all push for a fix on this issue. WE WANT FIX.

    I can't tell you how frustrated/disappointed I was when this exact situation happened to me. I upgraded my wife's iPhone 4 to an iPhone 5 just to find out that it wouldn't connect to my home wifi but would connect everywhere else. Guess what...
    I found a fix!!
    On you iPhone go to Settings, General, About, scroll to "WiFi Address". Now stay there.
    Log-in to your modem thru your web browser via IP Address. (Keep in mind, I use a 2Wire modem, yours may be different) Clicked "Wireless" for wireless settings, scrolled down to "MAC Filtering" and clicked "Edit Allowed/Blocked Device List". At the bottom, there's a field to which you can manually enter a MAC address to you allow or block. If you're using a different modem with different menus/options, just browse around til you find a similar option of manually adding MAC addresses for access or blocking.
    MAC Address = Wifi Address. See where i'm going with this?
    Type the WiFi Address from you iPhone in the MAC address field, click "Add to List". If MAC filtering is enabled, it'll be added to the BLOCK list, simply click on the address, and click the double arrow pointing towards the ALLOW list so it'll transfer lists to where you want it, then click save.
    Now go back to your iPhone and attempt to re-connect to your wifi network as you normally would & voila!
    This worked for me, i hope it works for you as well.
