All printers fail to send jobs to print

Hi all,
I'm after some desperate help.
Recently I wiped 2 machines: 1 Imac G5, and 1 Power Mac G5. I reinstalled Tiger, and did a software update.
I have installed all the software I want and they are both setup with user accounts with the permissions I intended. No problems there
So when I came to testing if they print ok, all documents instantly failed. Also on all 3 printers I have installed.
I decided to test the printers on an old machine - and all worked fine. (incidently it has also been updated).
I think it must be something simple, somewhere that perhaps I have missed?
Each time i print from the newly configured machines, the job sits in the desktop (dock) printer icon, and does not move. It just reports - job stopped. I restart the jobs, but nothing.
Please help!

Hiya Tim
I just gave that a whirl - to no such luck!
I am in a corporate environment (well - education) and indeed printing through IPP. I was told this method of printing would be more reliable than the old Apple Chooser of OS 9. I never had any rpblems with it before - until rebuilding these machines.
I just wiped a machine, fresh install of OSX - without any customisation, then NO updates, and I installed the drivers fresh. No other software to cause problems etc - and I get the exact same problem.
There HAS to be be a reason why I am encountering these problems!!!!
Thanks anyway for your help mate - it's very much appreicated!
Cheers

  • OS X sends job to printer, but the printer never prints the job

    All,
Hello. I have a Mac running OS X 10.4 Everytime I try to print a document, I can see in the Print Queue menu where it says sending job to printer, then it says completed. But no lights come on on the printer and no job ever prints. The printer is acting like it is not communicating with my MAC, but my MAC thinks it is connecting to the printer. First I tried on my local printer, then I tried on my network printer and the same thing happened.
I tried uninstalling and reinstalling my printer but that didnt work either. I am planning on checking the CUPS log as well but since the MAC says job completed and didnt give any errors I am thinking that CUPS will not have any errors either.
My next step is to repair disk permissions, then Reset the Printing System.
Anyone else have any ideas? Am I barking up the wrong tree so to speak? I am not sure of the software version but I am thinking its OS X 10.4. Im going up to check now

We're having JP's issue on a Mac here on our campus as well.
My user is running a 2.0Ghz iMac and printing to a laserjet 8150 via IP Printing. Up until this week everything has worked fine. Now when a document is printed from any program it goes into the queue and then gets moved to the "completed jobs" with no errors reported, but no acknowledgment by the printer and no errors produced.
Same model Macs print to this printer without issue. I tried redirecting to another lj8150 on the next floor of the building and got the same result.
Here's what I've done without success so far:
    -Restarted the printer and Mac
    -uninstalled/reinstalled the printer
-ensured all Mac and MS Office updates were installed
    -reset Mac Print System
-uninstalled printer, reinstalled HP drivers for laserjets, reinstalled printer
At this point I'm ready to start looking system issues, viruses, etc. One thing I caught just before leaving the Mac was a download of limewire filesharing software [and virus hotbed]. So I'll add that to my list of investigations.
All other network functions seem to be operational except the printing.

  • Since 10.5.3 update both my printers fail to auto quit

Since updating to 10.5.3 both my printers fail to auto quit after printing and stay in the dock. Auto Quit is checked on both. They are an HP Business Inkjet 1200D connected via USB and a Macally USB2 hub to the iMac and an HP Photosmart Pro B9180 connected Bonjour via a Netgear DG834PN modem router with a Cat6 10/100 Ethernet cable. Before 10.5.3, they both auto quit with no problems. I have done all the usual things like verifying hard discs on both my Intel iMac and Macbook, repairing permissions, clearing caches (boot, user, kernel, font, applications etc - all that are shown on Onyx), running daily, weekly and monthly scripts etc. All with no improvement - anyone got any ideas?
    Wilson

I agree that 10.5.3 needs some urgent work. I gather 10.5.4 has already been seeded. My CPU use also now looks like a mountain range from Lord of the Rings, although I think my MacBook is actually running a little cooler if anything. However there seem to be lots of complaints of CPU spiking and fans going crazy, with no universal solutions. My guess is that the code has gotten so large that curing one fault, introduces two others. I wonder if we will look back at Tiger as the peak of OS X. I have left Tiger on my wife's G5 iMac and I get no complaints. I think I would be mad to upgrade her to Leopard.
I will try deleting my printers and reinstalling but I did that not long ago, trying to cure the HP Photosmart Pro B9180 fault after a firmware update that if connected via Ethernet, it keeps reporting no print heads installed and then after a minute or so, changes its mind and although still reporting no print heads, amazingly manages to print the image.

  • How come all my eprints are pending and not printing

All my emails i send to my printer through eprint say they are pending and not printing.  any ideas?

On my second day of this not working. I've tried sending just text and a small JPG. I have also tried removing the allowed user list so that anyone can send an email to the printer. The print jobs slowly appear in the queue but never leave a pending status.
This is very frustrating because I'm trying to help my 84 year old father set this up from long distance. I had this working up until yesterday. Even more madening is that there is no online resource (that I can see) that lists the exact menu options for his printer. The PDF files are very generic so it makes telling him what to push nearly impossible.
It would seem the issue is on the HP ePrint side. Or maybe were software updates pushed that might need to be applied to the printer?

  • Trying to get Photoshop CS4 functional with Mavericks and an Epson 3880 printer. CS4 fails to send a file to the print queue. Have reinstalled the Epson 3880 driver for Mavericks. All looks good but no file is sent.

rying to get Photoshop CS4 functional with Mavericks and an Epson 3880 printer. CS4 fails to send a file to the print queue. Have reinstalled the Epson 3880 driver for Mavericks. All looks good but no file is sent.
Does anyone know how to fix this?

What EXACT version of Photoshop CS4 are you running?  You should be on Photoshop CS4 v 11.0.2.
Also run Apple's software update to see whether it offers you the latest Epson update:
    Printer Driver v9.33
Epson Stylus Pro 3880, Drivers & Downloads - Technical Support - Epson America, Inc.
MOST IMPORTANTLY:  have Photoshop re-create its own Preferences:
To re-create the preferences files for Photoshop, start the application while holding down Ctrl+Alt+Shift (Windows) or Command+Option+Shift (Mac OS). Then, click Yes to the message, "Delete the Adobe Photoshop Settings file?"
Note: If this process doesn't work for you while you're using a wireless (Bluetooth) keyboard, attach a wired keyboard and retry.
Important: If you re-create the preferences by manually deleting the Adobe Photoshop CS6 Settings file, make sure that you only delete that file. If you delete the entire settings folder, you also delete any unsaved actions or presets.
Reinstalling Photoshop does not remove the preferences file. Before reinstalling Photoshop, re-create your preferences.
NEW Video! Julieanne Kost created a video that takes you through two ways of resetting your Photoshop preferences. The manual preference file removal method is between 0:00 - 5:05. The keyboard shortcut method is between 5:05 - 8:18. The video is located here:
How to Reset Photoshop CS6’s Preferences File | The Complete Picture with Julieanne Kost | Adobe TV
    Mac OS
Important: Apple made the user library folder hidden by default with the release of Mac OS X 10.7. If  you require access to files in the hidden library folder to perform Adobe-related troubleshooting, see How to access hidden user library files.

i am getting different output on different printers as well. I have classes defined as Printeable that draw forms, each form has 75 questions and they are all done using graphics2D some printer prints all the pages perfectly some other with different margin and on a laser printer i get only one box.
If it helps someone, for testing, i printed to file (.prn) and read the ouput through Red Titan it's free
it showed me one box out of 76
    just the first one ????
possible solution that would help for margin

i used book and send printeable class and appended them into the book class
i am dying to solve this problem and wondering if there is better way for testing and how to make all pages
compatible for all printers. I want my program to send all forms to printer same format same size
is there any suggestion?? what am i doing wrong?
    by the way
    bk.append((Printable)componentsToBePrinted[i],pf);
componentsToBePrinted[] is an array of classes that implements Printeable and they all draw the forms correctly and sends to the printer. It is working mostly but i needed to work on alll printers no exceptions
I appreciate any help and i will issue all my duke starts im new to posting in the forum but i will give all my points for this tip

  • Airport Printing fails after one job

There seems to be a lot of printing issues with Airport but I can't find a solution for my problem.
I have an Airport Extreme attached to a USB printer.
It will print fine from my Powerbooks running Tiger or Leopard but when I try to print from the new iMac running Snow Leopard it will only print one job and then fail to continue unless I reset the Airport.
All printers work fine via USB.
    Any help appreciated

I've got an Airport Extreme Base station.
I've plugged in an USB concentrator on which I have
connected my usb Canon S750 printer and an USB2
    HardDrive.
As I don't need this drive all the time, I only power
    it when needed.
Everything goes well until I disconnect this Hard
    drive.
Eventhough I properly eject it from my iMac desktop
first, whenever I power it off and/or unplug it from
the usb concentrator, the connection to the Airport
    Shared printer is lost....
I can't print anymore on it unless I power off then
on the Airport Base Station (or Reset it from Airport
    utility).
Has anyone been confronted to this same behavior?
    Anyway to solve it?
What USB Hub are you using? Is it a powered Hub?

  • Sending Userid when printing job from SAP

Is there a way to send a userid when printing from SAP?  In order to control printing costs we are requiring user codes to be input to the printer before a job will print. The windows operating system is capable of sending the codes needed to the printer., Can the SAP application send a user codes ?

I don't think so directly unless you use LOCL and capture the Windows user ID, though I'm no printer expert.  You may need to generate reports in SAP but then you're never guaranteed that the spool that was released to Windows was actually output.  We have Equitrac boxes on all of our shared corporate printers.  When the print comes out directly from SAP, the only identification as to where the print came from, other than the name of the Windows print queue, is the generic underlying SAP system user (not the SAP user ID).  We can't track the cost unless the user actually logs into the box to use the printer/copier.
For our high volume color and black/white printers in our data center, we chargeback the print costs based on the Windows queue that the print came from.  As you probably know, you can have many SAP print queues/devices that point to the same physical printer.  We name all of our queues such that the using company/department/application is easily identified and our operators track the costs in that manner.

  • Why do all of my printers uninstall when I try to print a pdf attachment?

Not every time, but often.  What happens is that I try to print a pdf attachment and it says I need to install a printer before I can print.  I have 4 network printers, 1 attached, and 3 kinds of pdf creator printers that all disappear from my printer folder.  This has been happening for the past year and recently more often.  If I restart the computer, the printers all reappear, but if I try to print the same attachment the same thing happens.  If I try to download the pdf and then print it to a pdf creator that does not work.  If I download the pdf, change the name of it, then attach it to another email and send it to myself, it does not work.  If I forward the email to a different email address and try to open it on my computer it does not work.  If I open the email on a different computer, this does not happen.  I have tried different pdf readers and browsers with no luck.  It seems to be specific pdfs, but there can be two attachments to an email created by the same person using the same program and one will print and the other uninstalls all my printers.  This happens no matter what adobe version I am using.  I am at my wits end trying to figure out what is causing this problem.

  • How to cancel all jobs from printer

We have network printer printing through a server, but some times some user tries to print the job locally instead of using the print server. In this case even if i clear all the jobs from the server the printer job sent to the printer trough tcp/ip  from the users computer remains hanging in the printer. In case the localy printed job is wrong or incompatible it hangs the HP printer with 49.4C02 error and there is no way to track down who sent the wrong job and printer At last the only option remains is to change the printers ip address which resolves the issue or if the user himself cancels the job from his computer. example printer : HP Color LaserJet 4700

  • Adobe deletes all printers (every printer!!), then can't add printer

When trying to print one particular file (others are okay), the Adobe pdf printer will hang. When I then go to Devices and Printers, all printers are missing, included non-USB printers (fax, HP 1020, Epson 1280, MS XPS document writer, Quicken PDF Printer). When I try to add a printer, I get the message that Printer Spooler has stopped running and so I cannot add a printer. All attempts to restart the printer spooler fail (the usual stuff in tried per support forums). Naturally, I cannot print from any other application now since there are no longer any printers installed. Restoring to a previous restore point fixes everything until I try to use Adobe to print the particular file again.
Here's a link to the offending file:
    http://www.dutchessfair.com/downloads/2010-DCF-Program.pdf
Upon a restore, all my printers were back so I tried printing the pdf file above again and got the same result a second time. Since I got tired of doing restores, I didn't try a third time.
    My system:
Win 7 64 bit, updated to latest level
Adobe Reader updated to last week (minus the most recent update)
    Inter i7 920
    Mainboard MSI X58 Platinum
    BIOS American Megatrends V1.5 (4/20/2009)
    Memory 6144 Mb, triple channel
    Graphics: Radeon HD 4850
    Any idea what's going on???

    WHAT IS WITH THIS!
Couple times now this happenned on the bosses PC. He went to print a PDF file he received as a attachment and lost all printers. We could not restore the printers one time, had to get some expert PC help to get them back. Other time, deleted files stuck in printspooler, restarted and got printers back.
    Windows xp
Now, just happenned to me running windows 7. Adobe 9.3.4 running. Opened the .pdf file just fine, but when I go to print it all my printer devices are gone.
Rebooted, printer devices reloaded. Opened the .pdf again and bamm! All the printer devices are gone again.
I had been printing other .pdf documents with no issues. Why is it that certain .pdf files corrupt my system?
