All project file names changed to "filename.logicx" file type iDVD 2

I did the upgrade and suddenly every single logic project has defaulted to "filename.logicx" with the File type iDVD 2.
I'm somewhat terrified to alter the file names and I'm totally baffled why this would happen.

when saving as a project doesn't rename anything,it just makes your life easier and places everything in one folder with subfolders of your audio files,and whatever you have selected to be included in your project folder.
what you mean by song 10 audio?
Press A on your keyboard>Set Audio object record path window will appear you can type the name there under file name ,when done with recording your audio will have the name you typed in there.
or you can select the text tool after recording,select the tool and click on the region you just recorded,
you can also click on the regions parameter's box name and type the name you want your audio file to have

I'm sorry, but I wasn't aware of a native PDF viewer for Windows.
Nonetheless, if you want to change your default PDF application in Windows, you need to right click on any .PDF file, select "Properties",
then "Change",
then select the program you want to open a PDF with.

Has anyone heard of RoboHelp HTML v10 "magically" deleting itself and all project files?

We have an off-site contractor that swears RoboHelp HTML "magically" deleted itself and all project files. I've never heard of this and wondered if anyone else had. It sounds kinda fishy to me, but I've seen some strange things from RH, so thought I'd ask around first.

No, no source control in play that I know of. It appears we have gotten few answers to questions. The problems began when it was reported that they could not copy the project files to a flash drive. I personally have never had an issue with this task. Then, it was reported that the project had gotten deleted by RH. The resolution after-the-fact is that the contractor spent 1+/- week recreating the project (60-70 topics) from the published content.
I'm surprised that as a contractor they didn't know to come here and ask questions or find tools available to reverse engineer from the published content, but I suppose not everyone knows of the goldmine that lives here. I'd never heard of an uninstall removing project files, but I know there are a million ways it could have been configured and never say never, right?

Can I programmatically force saving an XLTM template to save as an XLSM file in Excel 2010 without defaulting all Excel file types?

I created an Excel template which includes VB and macros as an EXCEL.XLTM template file (I used a template file to keep users from overwriting the sample template file), but I have noticed that when users save the template, Excel 2010 defaults to saving
the new file as a XLSX file (removing all the macros).
I know you can set Excel 2010 to always save as a certain format, but I really would prefer not forcing all Excel files to be macro enabled for the user
Is there a way to default the Save type to XLSM for this template only? Like some code that I could put in that when the users saves, it saves as a macro enabled XLSM type only for this template file?
My users aren't exactly Excel savvy, so I wanted to make it as simple as possible for them.

In my option, you could achieve this by adding Application.GetSaveAsFilename Method to the workbook BeforeSave event. Some key code like below:

But there is a limitation of this workaround, in this workaround, the save as will only support the macro enabled type, other save as types like "xlsx" will be ignored.

How to see all image file types when saving images without selecting "all files"

Hallo, and thank you fom reading.
I am a person who saves a lot of images online in different folders with different names like G - 456 or F - 35.
I have been using firefox 10.0.2 for a long time because of a bug (I guess) that made it easier to save images.
When I saved an image it would always show me all the image files in any folder I wanted to save it, and that way making it easier for me to save files with the right names.
Now with the newer firefox (currently 19.0) whenever I try to save a JPEG I only see the JPEG files in the folder and only way to see the others is by selecting "save as type" all files, but with this I also see all the files that are not images.
This used to save me a lot of trouble and a bit of time but I dont see anything in the options menu that can help me. Is there a way to recreate this function?

I suspect this is a Windows problem. I am surmising the FilePicker uses the Operating System or Desktop facilities. Does Windows 7 offer any other file categories like ''images'' ?
I do not normally use Windows 7, but may the option depend upon the directory being an indexed one, I ask after finding this thread ''Bring File types tab back'' [http://www.windows7taskforce.com/view/819]

Why do all same file types in a directory open?

When I double click a certain file type in a directory (a jpeg image for instance), why do all the jpegs in that same directory open also? How can this be disabled? It's a little annoying. Is this setting in a specific application's preference or can it be changed in Finder preferences or system settings?

that does not sound normal. user/library/preferences and delete all com.apple.finder.plist files found? restart finder and perhaps that will help...

Nano3rdgen Copying playlist from itunes to ipod and it says it can't copy certain songs to ipod cos of file type.These problem songs all from same album, all ACC file type and all copied fine when I copied the album itself few weeks ago-help!

I never laughed in all my life. Here I was, inserting the cd Dance with Me, thinking it's not going to copy the whole thing. yeah, right.
Sure, it prompted me, Do I want to replace the songs, so of course I said "no, don't replace the songs". and guess what it did. It copied the whole cd (at least I got my two songs).
I went into the itunes library, and sure enough, all the songs were there twice. So what did my intelligent brain think of? I just unchecked the doubled songs and stuck my ipod into my computer and it synched up and I got what I wanted.
Now what did I do wrong when it prompted me. I clicked on "don't replace" and it replaced them anyway.
Am I dumb? or is itunes stupid?

How do I consolidate all project files to zero in my session?

Hi All, I'm a PT HD user and I'm helping someone mix their 4 song project. I need to consolidate the session files to zero so I can export and work/mix in Protools. Your help in appreciated!!!!!

To continue on bartwalsh's answer -
You can use the new feature - Export all tracks as audio files. This will do the same thing as consolidate in protools upon export although the regions within the logic arrange window will not be joined. All the exported files however will start at measure 1. One caveat I discovered - whenever I had a region of anything, midi or audio, muted or hidden, before measure 1 logic crapped out on me. Once I discovered this I moved everything a measure and it's worked well.
The old way is - create a blank bit of audio to place on each track at measure 1. Then select each track individually (which will select all the regions) and select Region/merge. This is quite noodley as you have to do it track by track. It's what I used to do when I had to export to pro tools.

HT2375 Using logic 9: play back of all project files now has problems: Track volumes are way off - if panning is set to center then you cant hear that track? Even if pan is adjusted tracks are low and or distorted I have looked at core/built in audio

Been having project play back problems for about a month. Sometimes when I open a project the volume of certain tracks is low and or distorted. Oddly if a midi track is panned to the center (0) its volume is too low and if I pan right or left the track becomes louder. Sometimes this doesn't help and if it is an audio track things become distorted.
Although things have been working good for about a year now I think it has something to do with the fact that I have to take the laptop to work and use headphones/built in audio for play back and then take it home and use different audio interface but I can't be sure. The settings in preferences/audio/devises seem to be correct.
I have not added any plug-ins recently. I have not downloaded any new programs recently other than a NI tutorial video (shouldn't have any affect) but I am trying to use a new midi controller but again that shouldn't have any affect on play back of existing track?
Any suggestions?

Thank you for the replies. Everyone was correct about the jack, interface, and phasing problems. I have been unplugging my motu audio interface and then using headphones at work. I have not changed any detailed audio output settings in logic. When I read that the jack might be a problem I tried switching headphones. This actually helped. I am using dre-beats headphones and they seem to be having issues with the mac/jack-(the phasing/panning problems. I can use these headphones with other devices but not the mac. I have to use ipod ear buds and the phasing seems fixed. Hopefully this information is helpful to someone else.
If anyone knows how to correct this issue please let me know its difficult to know what my final mixes are going to sound like and I have had to keep bouncing everything into i-tunes- sync to ipod and then listen in my car radio.

Audio stopped working for playback of all video file types (LR 4.4)

Been using LR 4.4 on same 64-bit Win 7 PC a long time with no such issues. No change to environment. Same files play fine through Windows Media Player and played fine in LR yesterday. What's up???

Welcome to the discussions! It sounds as if you are doing all the correct things.
Problem # 1:
Some of us have had the same experience with IM HD5. The playback begins to jerk and stutter even though there is nothing wrong with the movie. If you can still work with your movie, you will find that the resultant DVD is fine, no stuttering or skipping. I have found that the playhead stops and jumps from one photo or clip to the other. To check that my transitions are ok, I manually move the playhead so I can see the effect. I have learned that the end result will be ok, so I just continue finishing the movie. Yesterday, I had to restart my computer after I quit iMovie (for another reason, not due to iMovie) and when I launched iMovie again, the playback was better. Restarts may not always help, though.
Problem #2:
I have also had problems exporting back to the camcorder. Previous to upgrading to Tiger, my exports went flawlessly. After Tiger, began having difficulty. Things worsened after the upgrade to QuickTime 7.0.3. Also, if iMovie is jerking and skipping, you will have problems with the exporting.
My solution is to save the movie as QuickTime Full Stream. You can easily do this because you have a lot of free space. (You are duplicating your movie, so you need space for it).
After the QuickTime movie has been created, open a new iMovie and name it. Then, import the new QT movie into the new project. Save it, and then try to export that to your camera. That has worked for me every time.
Post back if this does not help.

Change all icons of a file type in Yosemite?

I just upgraded from a early 2011 MBP running Mavericks to a new Retina MBP running Yosemite. I did not use Migration Assistant as I wanted a fresh start and instead have copied over all of my data from a clone manually. I use Parallels 10 to run a Windows 7 VM to run some software, including MS Office, etc. Since my upgrade, all of my Office file icons (.docx, .xlsx, etc.) are the generic white/gray page with the turned down upper-right corner. I set the default program for all to be the correct application within my VM, but now would like to change the file icons for all files of a type to something more meaningful. Somehow, I had that on my previous MBP, but can't remember how that happened... Without having to individually change each icon for 10,000+ files, is there an easy way to batch change all Excel file types (.xls, .xlsx, .xlsm, .csv, etc.) to a single icon?

FCP Project Files are all "invalid format?"

I tried uploading many FCP Project Files with no success. All Project Files run fine in Final Cut Pro.
Once the upload process begins, the "Jobs in Progress" status spins for about a minute or so. At this point a red exclamation point appears, then a popup window that states:
"Unable to Analyze Project ... Invalid Format."
The project file makes it's way into FC Server as a listed asset, however when I choose to "get Info" and do a Search for the associated project files, nothing shows up. The manual mentions or recommends to use file extensions, and I have.
I read Final Cut Server is supposed to automatically recognize all FCP Project file's associated media. In fact they don't need to be packaged in a folder, etc.
Lastly I created a brand new FCP Project with a single video clip and a single audio clip after I installed the new ProApps Update. Still no luck.
Is anyone experiencing the same issue?

I experience the exact same issue, yesterday and thought that after Apple released the following update

that things may work, but they still dont.
My guess, is that there may be a version update to Final Cut 6.0.3 to maybe Final Cut 6.5 or something that will allow this direct integration with Final Cut Server. However, note, I was able to success import Final Cut Project exported as Final Cut XML files. I tried this because this was traditionally how it work when FCServer was the Artbox product. My guess is because the Final Cut Studio and Final Cut Server engineers in Apple really don't speak direct to each other, FCServer was realeased with this bug.

Corrupt audio file prevents me from opening Logic project file

Hello,
I've been running Logic 8 for a couple years off my MacBook and have never encountered any significant problems of file corruption until recently.
The issue I encountered is this:
I've been producing a lengthy track in an on-going Logic project file for some time and after completing a recording session I saved and started deleting excess track copies to clean up my arrange window. Upon doing so Logic unexpectedly crashed.
After attempting to reopen the project file, it started its normal process of loading its respective audio files, but now it hangs on one particular audio file indefinitely (I'll refer to it as 'audio file x' for ease of reference), freezing and crashing Logic as a result. All of this project file's auto backup files are also incapable of being opened without giving me the same result and crashing Logic.
I have no way of opening this project file and getting at my most recent saved sequence!
I've tried removing this corrupt 'audio file x' from the project's audio folder and dragging it to the desktop, but this had no effect and I still can't open any recent version of the project file.
Older saved copies of the current project file do still open though (most likely because they were saved prior to the corruption caused by this suspect 'audio file x.') When opening an earlier iteration of the project, I get a message '1 invalid audio region found' (I assume referring to the corrupt suspect 'audio file x' that I removed to the desktop) but the project file is still able to open.
I realize I could import the audio files from the most recent version of the crashed file to an older project version and reconstruct things back to the way they were, but it would take me a lot of time and I'm hoping there may be some way to recover the un-openable project file by getting it to stop looking for this corrupted 'audio file x' on startup.
When I click 'show package contents' of the Logic Project file, I notice two items labeled 'displayState' and 'documentData.' From my troubleshooting I've come to the basic understanding that the 'documentData' file contains all the sequence data and settings for its respective Logic Project file.
I think the 'document data' of the unopenable project file in question may be corrupt because whenever I replace it with the 'document data' from an earlier Project file version, the file is able to open. This doesn't do me much good though, because it's document data from an earlier iteration of the project and I need to be able to get at the current sequence I had right before my file crashed.
Is there anyway to open a project file without letting it load its audio files? Or is there anyway I could get inside the 'document data' file to delete the reference/pathway in its audio bin to the corrupt 'audio file x' its hanging on?
Any insights would be greatly appreciated. I'm hoping there's some way I won't have to repeat a couple days worth of work. Thanks for your help!

Well... it really sounds like the project itself is corrupted, that's one of the reasons all project files won't load from a certain point on.
Try this.
Reboot the Mac.
Open the Applications folder and boot Logic from it's icon.
As soon as the Logic Logo/graphic window appears on the screen hold down the control key. You will see a message pop up that says something like "Launch the Core Audio Driver" there will be yes/no choice available... select NO.
Go to the File menu and selct "open" go find your project file and see if it will open. If it does.. delete the audio file in question... however.. I would also look at any plugins you recently installed and are possibly using in this project...this sounds more like a plugin problem rather than an audio file problem, but that's just a gut feeling.
Anyway, if it opens delete whatever you suspect and save under a different name.
Reboot Logic and see if it can load the project.

Archiving project file.

Quick question. When a project is complete in FCP 7, I would simply take the project file along with non-time coded media and save it to a disc or whatever. In X it seems all project files are titled "current version". What is the method for arching in FCP X?

Archiving is going to vary on a number of factors but the simplest way is to use FCPX duplicate project funtion. You can choose to save just the project file, project file and renders or project file, renders and events. Once FCPX has written out your choice of files you can then go to the finder and copy the folder(s) FCPX made and copy those to a disc or drive or tape. The project file will have the orignial project name and (fcp1) added to it.
