All projects are always open/workflow?

Is it accurate that in FCP X all your projects are always open? You can't open just one at time? If that's true, that's just... well I don't want to use profanity.
Isn't that a ridiculously inefficient use of memory and computing power? It's also forces a much less organized workflow and tons of visual clutter?
One more question: Can I work on a FCP X project on a hard drive connected to my desktop, eject the drive and continue where I left off on my MacBook Pro... just like I frequently do in FCP 7?

I am experiencing a similar problem in the staffing dashboard. It is only displaying 5 resources (Resource Dashoard) and 5 projects (Staffing Dashboard). I think it has something to do with the level you are talking about. WHere do you configure that.

When I launch Finder for the first time the same folders are always open

Hi. When I first boot up and launch Finder the same folders are always open on my boot drive. I close them all and continue to work on the computer, opening and closing folders as needed for that day's projects until I quit for the day. But the next time I start up (normally the next day) the same exact folders are open on my boot drive when I first open Finder or if I just double-click the drive. I've tried switching accounts and then back again and trashing Finder preferences, making sure every single folder is closed before I shut down, but the folders continue to show up as open the next time I boot up my Mac Pro. Any ideas anyone?

Thanks for your suggestion. In the meantime I contacted support at www.bombich.com (creator of Carbon Copy Cloner) and told them what I was thinking about doing and they suggested deleting the hidden .DS_Store files in the folders remaining open. This is the explanation they gave me:
This file, created by the Finder, keeps track of folder view options, icon positions, and other visual information about folders. A separate .DS_Store file is created in each directory about that directory.
So I went online and found the Terminal commands for showing (and hiding) hidden files and trashed, one by one, all the .DS_Store files in the folders that were remaining open and that did the trick. I've tested Finder several times on relaunch and reboot and it's working perfectly again. Folders remain closed as I've left them before shutting down. Big relief. And I've learned something about .DS_Store files.

why when opening illustrator some layers are always open and not others?
what to do to remain closed?

Maybe for some it's not a problem really? It's not something that I've found annoying.
I think (although I'm not sure) that layers that contain sub-layers open in order that the sub-layers can be seen. Layers that do not contain sub-layers remain closed. Therefore the only way to keep the layers closed when opening a file is....you've guessed it....don't make sub-layers.

When I use Tab Groups, can I have some tabs that are always open together with a group, and just switching the groups that are besides the "always showing" tabs?

I like to have some tabs always open, like for example the facebook page, while others I need only occasionally, like Ebay / Work / Fun (which I could put into Tab Groups). So I was wondering if it is possible to have the following configuration:
Always open Tabs (e.g. Facebook, Myspace) and then next to that ONE of the Tab Groups (e.g. Group Ebay Stuff and Group Work Stuff and Group Fun Stuff)
or alternatively have TWO Tab Groups open at the same time, like Group A and Group B, and then switch to Group A and Group C, then Group A and Group D, then Group A and Gourp B again.

Hmm, well you can right click a tab you want always open and click "Pin as App Tab". I personally don't have much experience with Tab Groups, I'm just learning how to use them.

Looks O.K. to me Opens correctly in Firefox and Opera as a log-in page for Killer Content - Win7x64 Fx5.
I can't see any oddities in your plug-ins. It never hurts to clear any relevant cookies and your cache.
You could see how it goes in Safe Mode - Hold Shift key down as you double click on the Firefox icon>ignore the page that opens and continue. If the page opens you probably have a problem with extensions or themes and you should work through this -

A lot of things have been updated as well as Firefox and you could have a culprit or conflict. Next, if there is no improvement you could try disabling third party toolbars, and you should report back at this stage or if there has been early success.
Someone may come by with a more specific remedy.

60GB iPod: all keys are always locked.

Just today I've received my new 60GB iPod and BOSE Sound Dock, with my with great anger and displeasure I have found that the all iPod keys are permanently locked and I'm not be able to unlock it using normal unlock commands.
I've tried to successfully restart it more and more times, using the lock-unlock-holding down the "menu" and central key for 6 secs sequence, without results; I've restored the default parameters using "iPod Updater 2005-11-17" appl, without results. The Mac USB connection is OK and I have correctly uploaded a lot of music. All the music are OK and play very well if I insert iPod into the BOSE Dock an control it by IR remote control.
I don't know what I can do more and so I need "... a little help from my frends..."

I fixed the problem by opening my iPod with a butter
knife and found the clickweel's connecter had come

it well looks like the pop ups are frozen into firefox or something. i uninstalled firefox 3 times to fix this and its still there. i dont even know how to properly describe it.

Replying to all emails are always sent from the '1st' listed email

Whenever I reply to an emails, choosing 'reply to all', I then change the 'from' address from specifically list my hotmail.com email account, when the emails get to the recipients, it always shows as being sent from the 1st listed email address configured on the iphone (in my case it is my gmail.com email.
Someone sends me an email to my hotmail.com account. I click 'reply to all', or even 'forward', then click send, the email is received from my gmail.com email account. (I do not have anything setup between my hotmail/gmail accounts for the other (i.e. different 'reply to' addresses, etc..) on my iphone, nor within the actual email addresses either.
Even if I change the 'from' address to specifically say from my hotmail.com account, it always comes as showing from my gmail.com address.
This only occurs on my iphone. It does not occur when sending emails from outlook, nor hotmail's web-interface, so it must be an issue with the iphone configuration.
Any ideas?

All my projects are ruined #lastupdate #version 10.1.0

Just updated Logic Pro X, and all my projects is now screwed.
By that I mean; about every track inside a project is just tossed a random place in the project,
so different tracks just randomly appear here and there.
I tested the projects on another Logic which was not updated, and surely the projects was like they were supposed to.
This is really the biggest bug I've met in my entire life, and is most likely to get me fired from a big studioproject.
I really, really need help on this one, cause this is ruining my life. Please, any suggestions??

I always save as a folder, so tried the opposite. Saved it as a package on my friends computer, and loaded it into my Logic, but the same problem still occurs.
All projects are really big (about 80-100) tracks so I took a couple of screenshots, you can find the pictures on this link:

On the picture named "Look at me" you can clearly see how the tracks in solo are placed almost at the start while theyre not supposed to be there.
On the same picture you can also see how the other tracks have overlapped.
Every track is SMPT-locked, I always do. But its weird how the tracks still are locked, but in a different place.

How can you get your homage address to open when you open new tabs? My homepage is Google, but my new tabs always open with Yahoo.

The behavior that you have is not the default Firefox behavior, which always opens a blank tab. You will have an add-on that is causing this. Check for any Yahoo related add-ons to see if they have this option. The freeze net assistant add-on is another one that opens Yahoo in a new tab.
There are add-ons that allow you to specify what should appear on a new tab, but these may conflict with the add-on that is opening Yahoo.

Another way of opening the home page in a new tab is to middle click on the home button in the navigation toolbar.

Why does Excel always open old files?

Since upgrading to Mavericks, whenever I open Excel, the last few spreadsheets I was working on when I upgraded are always opened. I can't seem to prevent this behavior. Is anyone else seeing it? Is there a way to stop it doing so?

If you right click a jpg file, you'll see a contextual menu, select 'Get Info' and in the resulting window about mid way down you will see a drop down menu "Open With', select Preview from the list and then don't forget to select "Change All'.
Now all your jpg's will open in Preview.

Submenu layers always open when opening an existing file

Whenever I open a working file the sub menus in my Layers window are always
open. So I need to go in and close each one to shorten the list of layers showing.
This is annoying when you have 30 layers that need to be closed.
Is there a way to reset a prefernce or something to fix this?

Did you tried activating "Show layers Only" from the Layers Panel option submenu?.
After doing this you must save the document, this only afects the current document you have open, because it's a Document preference and not an aplicattion preference (must be).

I've lost all audio output from all projects on logic.

All the other internall audio ( Itunes, movies, videos) works so I know it's not the jack or wiring. Ive been to preferences> audio and re set it to internal audio1 and even tried setting it to pre sonus fire studio output but no help there switched it back and still nothing. It seems to be configured on logics audio preferences too but no output! All the level meters are bouncing but no sound! PLEASE HELP IF YOU CAN!! Thanxz.

I'll try anything but the problem is that all projects are not coming out and wouldn't the solo buttons be limited to each project? If the solo is stuck on one song it shouldnt be affecting all other songs right? but who knows,,,IT CANT HURT TO TRY!! Thanks for your input and I'll let you know!!
