All songs deleted after creating alternate libraries.

Me and my cousin use the same computer for iTunes, and so we create different libraries for our music by holding shift down after you click the iTunes desktop icon. I quit iTunes normally. I went back in and held shift down and went to go into my library, but when i got there the icon "iTunes Library" was missing. I have no idea how to get it back or restore it. This has been happening for a while and we just keep creating new libraries. I have tried emailing Apple Support with no response. I really need help because this is becoming a big problem and its very annoying. Please help if you can, i would really appreciate it.

It would be much easier if you simply created a new computer login account for you or your cousing then you won't have to Shift launch iTunes to get your own library.
I have no idea how to get it back or restore it. This has been happening for a while and we just keep creating new libraries
Are you creating new library in the same location as the previous libraries?

I had about 130 songs downloaded, 30 which weren't uploaded to my ipod or a CD. Recentally I downloaded Version 7.0 and my songs were all gone within a week. Also my songs were deleted from the music file. I didn't touch them nor my family. How can I get them back?

You're doing what the other 10 million subscribers are doing as well.
Im fairly certain this is a network error issue. You'll just have to accept this as teething problems Apple will be going through for the next couple weeks.

ALL contacts deleted after APP updates

All my contacts were deleted after some applications were updated on my Iphone. How do I restore from my computer backup only the CONTACT information, as my phone has photos which have yet to be backed up onto the computer. I cant backup my phone now as my contact list is empty. Advice anyone?

All data deleted after upgrade to iOS8

I am deeply sad. All data has been deleted after upgrade to iOS8.
What I did:
1. Connect ipad to PC to transfer records from voice recorder.
2. iTunes offered to upgrade system.
3. I confirmed.
4. Some unknown error occured in the end of upgrade process.
5. When iPad started, iOS8 was there. All data disappeared.
6. I am sad. All valued data I need is lost... (no backup has been done before upgrade).
Pls advice is it possible to get data back.

All songs deleted on iPod mini but they are all still on iTunes

For some wierd reason all my songs were deleted from my iPod mini when I deleted one playlist. Now I can't update my iPod, because iTunes says that all of the playlists selected no longer exist. Should I restore my iPod mini? I'm scared. Please help me. Thank you so much.

okay, so the other day my ipod all the sudden lost all of its 700 sum songs and all the music in my ipod library got deleted. but its still on my general computer. i have no idea how this happened.
i took my ipod [i pod touch] to best buy, where i bought it 6 months ago, and the geek squad person said that i need to update my software on the ipod and update itunes.geek squad updated my ipod while at best buy, but she told me that i need to update itunes on my computer and i should just be able to get my songs back onto my ipod. when i hooked my ipod up to my computer when i got home, i could not find where to update itunes. and nothing happened to my ipod.
i called bestbuy and re-told them the problem i was having. GS told me to first plug in my ipod to my computer [which i did] then sync the songs back onto my ipod.... that did no good.
then GS proceeded to tell me to just drag and drop the songs i want back onto my ipod, that are on my computer into my music library then re-sync my ipod..... once again this did not work. and my library is not locked so there is no reason as to why this should be happening. the GS person told me that he has never heard of anything like this and that he does not know what to do.
any help?!?

OMG......this just happened to me...except my library is still there. I've tried re-installing itunes, restarting, & everything. It still doesn't recognize my ipod. I updated my iTunes/iPod to the newest version since it keeps asking me everyday and when I did it, it erased all of my songs & apps. I admit, my iPod was jailbroken, so I had apps on it that I'm afraid I won't be able to get back. I avoided updating my iPod because I was scared that it was gonna erase my jailbroken apps off.....but someone told me that it was best to always update regardless. I didn't think it was gonna erase my music though....it was completely full too That's not such a big deal since it's still on my computer. The main prob. is that I can't put it back on. I've tried going back to an older version and it keeps telling me that the newest version is installed and that I'm not allowed to do that. When I try to go to the iTunes tab on my ipod, it doesn't go...the same with the videos & music tabs. The only thing that works on my iPod is Safari & youtube.
HELP ME TOO.......PLEASE! I need my music. This is the 2nd iPod that's given me ****. I'm going to Creative Zen next if nothing can be done.

Ok, the exact same thing happened to me - all my apps got deleted! I wasn't impressed. But I figured it out in the end! Go to the App Store app, click on update, then hit the purchased icon. All the apps you've ever had onyour phone (purchased or not) will be displayed. Click on each and every app individually, and every app will be installed back on your phone! Previous usernames and passwords will be remembered - it's like they never got deleted in the first place! Hope this helps!

There is a simpler way.
In the Terminal, navigate to your $HOME directory: cd ~
Remove all the .DS_Store files:find ~ -name ".DS_Store" -depth -exec rm -f {} \;
Relaunch finder going to: Force Quit → Finder
Set your global preferences using ⌘J and press the Use as default button.
Now, every folder you open or create will have the new settings.
I now have the existing Folder structure in tact for Documents, but every single file is gone (in my entire Documents directory).
Naturally I'm thinking two things:
1) Oh no. I knew better than to go down this path without knowing exactly what I was doing.
2) How do I "get my files back..."
I'm not sure if they're just not viewable or if they were deleted. Essentially everything I've configured on the machine (From Apple login to mouse scroll reversal) has been undone. I don't have TimeMachine set up yet - I brought two remote hard drives to work today to get it done but they're both NTFS so I couldn't progress.
I'm reasonably technical but new to Mac.
Advice is greatly appreciated... I'm GREATLY distressed at the moment...

Ok so "DS_Store files are used by Mac OS X to store folder specific metadata information." Supposedly they get recreated... except I didn't get a nice smooth transition of newly created invisible, instead every file on my machine is "gone."

Help - All Contacts deleted after deleting mobile me account on iphone.

I don't know what has happened but all my contacts have gone from my iphone. The only thing I am conscious of doing is deleting the trial mobile me account from the iphone following the expiry of the trial period. Is there any backup on my computer to recover these? I can't see anything obvious in iTunes. Is there any other way of getting them back?

If the internet connection to your MobileMe online address book is lost for whatever reason (in this case you cancelled your MobileMe account so there was no longer an internet connection to your MobileMe online address book), the contacts on your iPhone don't disappear. The contacts are cached locally so if your MobileMe online address book is not available for whatever reason, you still have access to the contacts to place a call, send an MMS, etc.
When deleting the account from your iPhone, all contacts that had been synced over the air with your MobileMe account are deleted from your iPhone - the cache in this situation. When you first turned Contacts on for over the air syncing with your MobileMe account, what happened? If you don't remember, all existing contacts on your iPhone were erased and replaced with your MobileMe online address book. After this, the contacts were being kept synchronized with your MobileMe online address book but not technically stored locally on your iPhone. When you deleted the account, all contacts that had been synced over the air with your MobileMe online address book were deleted with the account.
Since all existing contacts on your iPhone were deleted when first turning Contacts on for over the air syncing with your MobileMe account, where did your MobileMe online contacts originate from? Did your MobileMe online contacts originate from the Address Book on your Mac? If not, they should have and should have been kept synchronized between your MobileMe online address book and your iPhone. If so, your contacts should remain in the Address Book on your Mac and you can sync your iPhone direct with the Address Book on your Mac via the iTunes sync process. This is selected under the Info tab for your iPhone sync preferences with iTunes.

Cannot open iPhoto after creating 2 libraries, one in iCloud drive

I am running into errors and cannot open iPhoto anymore. The first message is "The iPhoto Library is locked, on a locked disk, or you do not have permission to make changes to it. iPhoto can try to repair the permissions." I choose repair, and then this second message occurs, "The iPhoto Library is locked, on a locked disk, or you do not have permission to make changes to it."
This began after I exported the library on my Mac Book Pro to iCloud Drive, and currently have 2 libraries that I cannot access. I attempted to repair disk from Disk Utilities, but it has not fixed the issue. What can I do next?

Try the following on the one on your hard drive:
1 - launch iPhoto with the Command+Option keys held down to open the First Aid window. Be sure to follow the circled recommendation in the screenshot.
2 - run Option #4, Rebuild Database.

All Contacts Deleted After Upgrade to 4.2 and Sync

I just upgraded to iOS 4.2 on my iPhone 4. I have my contacts set to not sync to the computer, instead relying on backups of the phone. After the upgrade I got a text and noticed that the name was not displayed, only the number. When I looked in my phone favorites the names displayed for a split second and then went to numbers. It appears that either the upgrade or the sync deleted every one of my contacts. When I tried to restore from the most recent backup (today) it was the same story, no contact information. I have to restore the phone to the backup before the upgrade, from October.
I don't want to sync the contacts to the computer because it will mess up several of my wife's contacts. Is there a way to import the contacts from the October backup in to today's backup where it mysteriously deleted them? I only have them stored on the phone and in phone backups. Also, shouldn't it warn me if a sync is going to change or remove a significant amount of information stored on the phone?

Seeding as iOS 4.2 is not available to the general public and is a beta problems may occur when installing. Since it is only available to developers, one would assume you're a developer and the dev forum would be the right place to post issues.

So, I plugged in my iPod like usual to charge it and all the songs were erased from my iPod but still in iTunes.
When plugged in I got this message on my computer as a taskbar pop-up iTunes: iTunes.exe - Corrupt File The file or directory\iPod_Control\iTunes\iTunesPrefs is corrupt and unreadable. Please run the Chcksk Utility.
And then when iTunes actually opens automatically it asks me to set-up my iPod...name and all that syncing stuff.
Then it says that 'The iPod 'Zillah' cannot be synced. An unknown error occured(-48).

ALL messages deleted after IoS 6 Update

I backed up my 4s to my mac, and proceded to Update the software, after that I then restored it with the backup i just did.. I go into my phone and all messages are GONE.. Contacts, pictures still there. Can anyone help with this problem??

I have the same problem - after restoring TWICE, everything is there BUT the messages/iMessages/texts are not there - I am very disappointed as I have 3 years worth of messages there. I suspect that they are still there inside the phone (as it shows that I have 6gb of stuff - I worked out which apps etc accounts for at least 3gb but the other 2gb, I believe it's the Messages itself.
Apple: can you PLEASE advise us?

I was texting a friend then suddenly iMessage stopped working, I thought it was her phone so I got her to turn off WiFi, restart her phone etc, nothing worked, so I restarted my phone and when I turned it back on ALL my messages were deleted. I never delete any messages and haven't for years so this was a very big list some with sentimental value, especially in recent weeks with Christmas and New Years etc, I do have a backup from November but haven't backed up since because I have been travelling and left my primary machine at home. Does iCloud back up text messages? If so am I able to recover them that way?
