All songs duplicated in itunes: how to get rid of duplicates ?

Computer crashed, re-installed software with all itunes songs saved in itunes folder. Re-installed itunes and imported itunes folder but now all songs appear in itunes in duplicate and I cannot find a way of re-organising the library. Is there any way to easily delete the duplicate songs ? In the My Music I Tunes folder some of the files appear in duplicate as well, I presume something related to computer crash. Any advice gratefully received ¬!!

Be sure not to do any work in that gallery in iPhoto while it is in the publishing mode. That can cause problems and duplicates. Sometimes it takes a while to finish.
TIP: For insurance against the iPhoto database corruption that many users have experienced I recommend making a backup copy of the Library6.iPhoto (iPhoto.Library for iPhoto 5 and earlier) database file and keep it current. If problems crop up where iPhoto suddenly can't see any photos or thinks there are no photos in the library, replacing the working Library6.iPhoto file with the backup will often get the library back. By keeping it current I mean backup after each import and/or any serious editing or work on books, slideshows, calendars, cards, etc. That insures that if a problem pops up and you do need to replace the database file, you'll retain all those efforts. It doesn't take long to make the backup and it's good insurance.
I've created an Automator workflow application (requires Tiger or later), iPhoto dB File Backup, that will copy the selected Library6.iPhoto file from your iPhoto Library folder to the Pictures folder, replacing any previous version of it. It's compatible with iPhoto 6 and 7 libraries and Tiger and Leopard. Just put the application in the Dock and click on it whenever you want to backup the dB file. iPhoto does not have to be closed to run the application, just idle. You can download it at Toad's Cellar. Be sure to read the Read Me pdf file.
Note: There's now an Automator backup application for iPhoto 5 that will work with Tiger or Leopard.

  • How to get rid of duplicate files in Windows Media Player 11, I am seeking an answer if at all possible.

    I don't know if this is the appropriate forum to ask this question....if it is not please guide me to the correct support forum. I am just trying to find out if there is an easier way of getting rid of duplicate files in my Windows Media Player 11.
    Also how do I prevent my Media player from obtaining all these duplicate files from other libraries.  I have iTunes installed and my home network has four other computers belonging in the home group that have all their own respective music libraries.
    I guess I was naïve but I thought that when Windows Media Player is out searching other libraries it would know not to take duplicates of songs that it has already.  Enough said .....if anyone out there can help me that would be great.  I have in
    the past spent many hours manually deleting songs from my music files and it really got old.

  • HT1417 how to get rid of duplicates in itunes 11

    I cannot find where to get rid of duplicates in the new version of itunes, which I cannot stand.  Can I go back to the old one, where it would let you find duplicates and delete them?

    OK I understand. Many of the old iTunes 10 features are still present, but they have been hidden by default.
    Bring back your Sidebar with control S and your menu bar with control B. There are icons for them but the control keys are easier to describe.
    The View menu will then be visible, where you can customize your viewing preferences and make it appear a little more familiar.
    You don't have to remove the old version to update it.
    Reverting to iTunes 10 is possible but very tedious.

  • How to get rid of duplicate records generated frm hierarchical cube in sql?

    Hi All,
    database version 10gR2.
    I am trying to aggregated data for two hierarchical dimensions, specifically organization and products.
    I am using one ROLLUP for each dimension, which would be two ROLLUP in GROUP BY clause to do the aggregation for every level of organization and product that are in included in the hierarchy.
    the troubling part is that that products that have data in corresponding fact table are not always located at the lowest level (which is 6) of the product hierarchy.
    e.g.
    product_id                               level
    0/01/0101/010102/01010201    5                           -->01010201, at level 5 , has data in fact table
    0/01/0101/010103                   4                           -->010103, at level 4, has data in fact table as well
    0/02/0201/020102/02010203/0201020304/020102030405              6   --> at level 6,(lowest level) and has data in fact table     we have a flat product hierarchy stored in table as below:
    prod_id  up_code_1 up_code_2 up_code_3   up_code_4   up_code_5 up_code_6
    01010201     0     01     0101     010102     01010201      NULL
    010103     0     01     0101     010103     null             nulldue to the NULL in product in level 6 for 01010201, when i run the query below, one duplicate record will be generated.
    for 010103, there will be 2 duplicate records, and for 020102030405 will be none.
    Encounter the same issue with the organizational dimension.
    currently, I am using DISTINCT to get rid of the duplicate records, but I don`t feel right to do it this way.
    So, I wonder if there is a more formal and standard way to do this?
    select distinct ORG_ID, DAY_ID,  TRADE_TYPE_ID, cust_id, PRODUCT_ID, QUANTITY_UNIT, COST_UNIT, SOURCE_ID,

  • I had to format my computer, all songs are now gone, how to get them back?

    As the topiv says.
    When i locate the songs i have bought in iTunes Store, and try to download them, a message telling me i have to pay for it again shows up. When i try this option in iTunes Check for available downloads, it tells me that there is no available downloads.

    If you didn't make a back-up of your purchases to restore from then I'm sorry to say that the policy on lost purchases is that you have to pay to download them again:
    "Once a Product is purchased and you receive the Product, it is your responsibility not to lose, destroy, or damage the Product, and Apple shall be without liability to you in the event of any loss, destruction, or damage." iTunes Store: Purchased content can be downloaded only once
    You could try contacting the iTunes Music Store Customer Service and you might be able to persuade them to sanction a second free download. There have been occasional reports in the iTunes forum of this happening, however just be aware that they are not under any obligation to do so. If you click on the link at the bottom of this page you'll be able to email your query: iTMS Customer Service
    If you have an iPod that still has the purchases on it the transfer of purchased content from the iPod to authorised computers was introduced with iTunes 7. You'll find details in this article: Copying iTunes Store purchases from your iPod or iPhone to a computer

  • Songs w/ questions marks, how to get rid of all them easily.

    I have lots of songs that are somehow related to a previous libray. I have two copies of most songs, but, one copy has 'question' mark next to it when you attemp to play it, and it says it cannot locate original file, would I like to locate it. I just want to know how to easily delete/remove all the songs with questions marks.

    I wouldn't call this an easy answer- but there's a method to my madness. Hear me out.
    In your Music library, go to File > Show Duplicates. Sort by Song Name. You can select each one with the exclamation point next to it by holding down your Command key and clicking each one. When you've selected them all, hit Delete, and you're set. If you have selected all the right ones, it will NOT ask you if you want to move the files to the Trash.
    The reason this is preferable to some other method is that your missing song might contain metadata that your newer songs do not- like rating, grouping, genre, etc. If you Show Duplicates and have your important view options chosen, you can make sure you transfer all the right info from the old song to the new one.
    It's not elegant, but it works.

  • How to get rid of duplicate copies of Mail in inbox?

    Hi,
    Actually, I have two separate questions that both relate to Mail version 1.3.11 running on an I Mac G5 using 10.3.9. I had Total Access which is earthlink.net's software configure this program, Mail, when I recently upgraded to DSL with them. Now, I'm getting duplicate copies of email in my Mail program. I may have accidentally chosen something which I now can't locate in Total Access. Does anyone have a clue as to how I could go back to just getting one email rather than duplicate copies?
    The other question is: is there any incompatibility between this version of Mail and DSL? I know that may sound odd, but we're having intermittent service and think it's probably a routing problem. However, I notice at times when I want to go on the internet and check the mail, the Mail app freezes and I have to perform a force quit. Then when I want to go to google say, my connection is gone. It's not gone for good, but it makes me wonder if there's some glitch between the Mail program and Total Access. I've asked Earthlink.net and they say "no," but I'm asking all of you because I'm not convinced.
    Thanks so much for your help!

    I cannot seem to find where to get the duplicates in iCloud sorted out, any help would be appreciated

    If you are syncing contacts on your Mac with iCloud, open Contacts, then go to Card>Look for Duplicates, then merge any duplicates found.  This will locate and merge contacts with the same name, but different information.

  • How to get rid of quotes in SQL?

    Hi All!
    Does anybody know how to get rid of quotes in
    generated SQL? I don't mean manual editing.
    Are there any properties controlling this
    behavior (adding "" automatically)?
    Thanks in advance!
    Sincerely,
    Lev

    Use PreparedSatement class,
    e.g.
    // Where the name field is defined as char, i.e. needs quotes in SQL.
    String sql = "select * from person where name = ? ";
    PreparedStatement statement = connection.prepareSatement(sql);
    statement.setString(1, "Bob");
    statement.executeQuery();
    This will get rid of hardcoding db vendor dependant quotes in your sql,
    Hope this helped.
