All sound on computer echoes in ventr

I just installed Sound Blaster Audigy SE. I can hear sounds ok, recorded sounds are very weak. I can however talk to others using Ventrilo, but when I do all sound on the computer is echoed back to them, including any game sounds and their own voices. I use a headset, no speakers. Ventrilo was working fine with the on board sound, I am sure it is not a ventrilo issue. Any ideas?

Assuming XP open either Windows Audio properties or the Creative Surround Mixer, and change the recording device from "What you hear" to Mic.

my mac pro suddenly stops working (2011), connection to the monitor stops, but de tiny light on computer still on and all sound stops. what's the problem?

When the display turns off, it is not clear whether the computer has halted, or whether the display subsystem has failed.
    Those tests determine whether:
    a) Your Mac software had stopped working  OR
    b) Only the display had stopped working
If the pressing the Caps lock light on the keyboard lights the Caps Lock light on the keyboard, some software is still running -- your Mac has not halted.
If pressing Control-Eject on the keyboard, followed by the Return key shuts down your Mac, the software was still running.
    ¿Software was still running?
--Yes, the problem is ONLY in the display subsystem
--No, this is a computer-wide problem such as a kernel panic

  • All sound on my laptop turns to a glitched mess when anything is being done while it is playing.

I really need help trying to figure this issue out. I have a HP2000 Notebook PC with Windows 8 I have had it since last March or April haven't had any issues until the past few weeks.
It has started to make terrible noises if I am in the middle of watching a show or listening to music and click on soemthing else or even close a program it starts to cut the sound out and starts making a glitch type noise it's really hard to explain the sound it's not static or white noise but very distorted.
Once whatever is loading is done it stops and plas the sound again without issues until something else decides to run. I have tried to stop and restart my windows audio and it didn't help. If there is anything else that can be done to fix it or even troubleshoot the issue so i can figure it out please let me know.
I'd really hate to buy a new computer because the sound is screwed up on this one and it's not even a year old. Any and all help is greatly appreciated thanks in advance!!

Hello DreamWriter84. Thank you for posting on the HP Forums. I understand the sound quality of this computer is poor.  To begin troubleshooting the issue, please apply the information from this HP document: Music or Sounds are Distorted (Echo, Off Pitch, Sound Effects)
Please note: This document is intended for desktop PCs with Windows 7. However, the troubleshooting is useful for notebooks as well. The operating system is irrelevant. If the issue is not resolved, please provide the full model number of the computer. If you require assistance locating this information, please reference this website: Locating the Model Number of the Computer
Please respond with the results of your troubleshooting. I'm only here to help!

  • USB Microphone cuts out all sound

I'm using Logic Express 8, with an MXL condenser microphone.  At first everything worked fine.  I could hear all the audio.
But now, when I plug in the microphone, it cuts off all sound.  The computer is receiving an audio signal.  Under preferences, USB Audio Codec is chosen.
I created an aggregate devise, but that didn't work.  I chose the new aggregate devise in audio preferences.  No luck.
    Does anyone have a solution?
    Thanks,
    Michael

I do not have your exact computer model or sound driver, but I can tell you what I did that fixed my microphone issues almost instantly for my G780!
My microphone also cut out during voip calls (such as Skype, G+ hangouts, etc) but my audio when using any type of recording software was fine!
So apparently for my laptop, there was a bit of additional software that was installed called Smart Audio which is also by Coaxant.
If you have this program, this is probably what is causing all the sporadic quality changes.
    What I did:
-Open Smart Audio (it's not actually an installed program, it is a setting so I just searched for it in the start menu)
-Go over to the VOIP tab on the bottom, and click on Voice Over IP to DISABLE the features.
-The icon for the setting should now be disabled, along with microphone noise reduction and acoustic echo cancellation.
These settings in smart audio were the ones making my microphone sound so horrible. As soon as I disabled it, people on the other side of the chat immediately noticed a dramatic increase in overall quality!
    Hope this helps!

  • My sound is like echo and i can't solve the problem with realtek hd audio manager

    HP G72 notebook
    Windows 7 64 bit
Sound is like echo and can't solve problem with Realtek HD audio manager

    It's a Qosmio X300-16M (windows 7 64bit)
I downloaded the last toshiba's sound driver (for win 7 64bit), but it's as if it doesn't contain MaxxAudio anymore... (but the file maxxaudio.dll is still in realtek directory)
It worked correctly after Windows 7 update, (that's why I tried to reinstall the audio drivers which were in the DVD... but it does not have resolved the problem.)
And all my system restore's points have been lost after a wrong bios update or something else (but this isn't a problem anymore)
Now, my computer works correctly, my only problem is that the MaxxAudio tab (from Waves Audio) in the realtek audio manager disappeared... (It just makes a better sound...)
And I just want to know if it's a curent problem or not... and if someone can fix it

  • Hi, I've lost all sound; keys F 3 4 and 5 only come up with a circle and diagonal bar across it. no sound in i-tunes and none in garage band or YouTube viewings

please help. all sound gone from my system. keys 3 4 and 5 only respond with line of bars and 'not permitted' circle with diagonal bar across. I've tried i-tunes garage band and YouTube. When I click on the loudspeaker icon at the top, I cant alter the slider below...

Could be many things, we should start with this...
    "Try Disk Utility
    1. Insert the Mac OS X Install disc, then restart the computer while holding the C key.
    2. When your computer finishes starting up from the disc, choose Disk Utility from the Installer menu. (In Mac OS X 10.4 or later, you must select your language first.)
Important: Do not click Continue in the first screen of the Installer. If you do, you must restart from the disc again to access Disk Utility.
    3. Click the First Aid tab.
    4. Select your Mac OS X volume.
    5. Click Repair. Disk Utility checks and repairs the disk."
    http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=106214
Then try a Safe Boot, (holding Shift key down at bootup), run Disk Utility in Applications>Utilities, then highlight your drive, click on Repair Permissions, reboot when it completes.
(Safe boot may stay on the gray radian for a long time, let it go, it's trying to repair the Hard Drive.)
Also, open Audio Midi Setup in Applications>Utilities, see the input & output options & KHz setting there, some things will change it for their own use, then not set it back.

  • Latest version of Flash (10.3) seems to have caused loss of ALL sound!

First, here are my specifics:  I have a HP 2140 Notebook (32-bit system) running Windows XP, Firefox 5.0.
Here is what I did:  yesterday, I downloaded the latest version (10.3) of Flash.  I didn't do anything else differently.
Sometime later (the problem did NOT happen immediately), I realized that I had NO sound at all on my computer--i.e, not just Flash sounds, but no alerts, no startup/shut-down sounds, no NOTHING!
Hours & hours of research and trial & errior have led me to connect this problem to Flash.  I have actually restored the sound TWICE--I believe through deleting & reinstalling Flash as well as delecting Macromedia cookies, etc.--but both times, after a period of time in which I didn't do ANYTHING else, the sound went away again.
As you might be able to tell, I am extremely frustrated at this point!  Right now, I have uninstalled Flash and left it off, but still, no sound.  This can't be a problem with my computer or my sound card--the drivers are updated, all components are reported to be functioning normally, etc.
Someone, please help!  I am fairly computer-savvy about the basics, but not about technical stuff, so please, if you know what the issue might be, step-by-step instructions would be awesome, and I would be extremely grateful!!!

That's the problem--my computer is NOT a Pavillion machine.  However, after I replied last night, I realized that instead of the using the model number (HP 2140), I could use the product number which was also located on the bottom of my machine (a longer, more random string of numbers).  When I did this, the correct HP Notebook 2140 came up, even though this model is not otherwise listed on the site.  After that, I was able to access the driver info.
Unfortunately, by that time it was almost midnight, and I had to work today!   But I will try to download the appropriate driver as soon as I get home this afternoon.
You said you are not convinced that the audio drivers are the problem--is there something else that you can think of?  Do you think that my problem is related to Flash as I suspected?  What about the fact that I DID actually restore sound on two separate occasions--wouldn't that suggest at least that my speakers are working?
Thank you again for sticking with me on this!!!

  • My computer is denying me access to all of my computer files.

My computer is denying me access to all of my computer files. My virus software has been turned off and it won't turn back on. I can't download new virus software because access to temporary Internet files is denied the programs downloading. I'm fairly sure it's malware because my work on my word software is showing every single work misspelled. My spelling isn't that bad. I can't use the restore to go back to a previous time--access is denied. I'm at the end, I just don't know what to do. I don't have a restore CD. I'm afraid if it's malware it could make it impossible to use it or for a restore to work.
I have a work deadline tomorrow and obviously I'm not going to make it. HELP!!

    Hi,
It does sound like a Malware infection, so try the following.
On another PC, follow the procedure on the link below to create a bootable CD which you can use to scan your computer and hopefully remove the Malware - if your not sure which version to download, your notebook is listed as coming with a 64bit installation, so try that first.
    Windows Defender Offline.
When this has completed, boot into Windows and then see if you are able to download and install the free versions of MBAM and SUPERAntiSpyware on the links below.
    MBAM
    SUPERAntiSpyware
If you can install them, run full scans with both these utilities - if any malware is detected, remove/quarantine it and run the scan again until both applications come back clean.

  • Mute all sound out of FCP

How do I mute all sound coming out of FCP. Not on an individual sequence or clip. All the time. Is there an 'Mute All' button or option anywhere?
    Thanks

    Back in the day...
I had a mini headphone jack adapter that wasn't hooked to any headphones. I'd just pop that in the audio jack on the front of my computer and leave it there. That was back when you couldn't turn the startup sound off.
Maybe that would work for you too. You know... those iPod ear buds only seem to work for so long before they crud out... I've got a mess of them that I never use anymore... I'd just cut the end off one of those... hmmm... sounds like an eBay sale for sure!!!

  • Lost all sound on upgrade to 7.0.3 from 6.5.2

    Hi,
I am a total computer idiot and I need help. I've upgraded from QT 6.5.2 to 7.0.3; after I did that I lost (almost) all sound when playing QT movies. Files saved to my hard-drive that used to play with sound no longer do so. And QT files found online (through apple trailers, for example) no longer play with sound.
I say "almost" as there are a few files on my hard drive which still have sound. There's nothing special about these files which I can see though. One of them is an .mov, but all the rest of my .mov files don't have sound. The other is a .mpg, but all the rest of my .mpg files don't have sound.
After some reading about in this forum I found some genral comments about ones midi settings. Checked those against what are supposed to be the correct values, and they seem fine.
So anyone have any idea about what might be up? Seriously, suggest anything, even the most obvious stuff.
    thanks
    PowerBook G4 1.25GHz   Mac OS X (10.3.9)

I have the same problem but with the QT 7.0.4...
Try to reinstall QT 6.5.2 (in 2 steps)
    1) reinstall 7.0.1

In my case 7.0.1 doesn't work too... may be an additional coded ?? but i have no time to analyse.
    2) reinstall 6.5.2

  • Lost all sound on Windows 8

i have lost all sound on W8. hvae checked plugins and they are all up to date. have never had good sound on this computer (Pacbell Easynote TE) anyway and am considering getting speakers. However i recently downloaded Windows Movie Maker as was having problems with videos taken on my phone that were taking long time to attach on e-mail (i have gmail), if they semed to big for normal 'attachment' . Have also started using their (gmail) Google drive to see if that would help speed things up, but didn't, so tried to load Cloud etc. I think that somewhere in all this the sound went, but it's a minefield (for me anyway) to try and work out. I have done the obvious and checked the Volume levels and they're all supposedly on and set at highest. Any help greatly appreciated. thanks

Wellthis is strange, i have now checked the videos i mentioned above and now have sound, be it all very low, but that has always been the case with this pacbell since i got it. Also checked some others on Facebook and they have sound too - why would that change overnight??

I do have sound if I plug in ear phones, Do you think my speakers blew?
A PRAM reset might be all you need if it's a simple hardware issue.
    To Reset PRAM:
Shut down your computer; then turn it on again and immediately hold down the Command-Option-P-R keys. When you hear the startup sound for the second time, release the keys.
IMPORTANT: Resetting parameter random-access memory (PRAM) may change some system settings and preferences. Use System Preferences to restore your settings.

  • Just installed lion itune plays but makes no sound thur computer. works fine thur airport devices

just installed lion, itunes plays but makes no sound thur computer. itunes works fine thur all airport devies

I have just done the same upgrade to Windows7 and I have no sound from the headphone jack. Also when I plug into it, I don't get the old Realtek Audio evaluation screen for audio setup.
However I do not use headphones, as I have been using a RCA jack to plug from the headphones output jack to
a portilble shortwave radio that I have utilized the 6 inch woofer for the past three years since buying the laptop new, for better output and base sound from the radio speaker while simultaneously running the stereo built-in speakers on the laptop.
Can someone tell me that I should just update the laptop audio card by re-installing the original Realtek Audio Driver? Is that easily accessible here in the official Toshiba site? Also if possible, please inform me of other driver updates that would most likely need re-installation processes after this Windows 7 update.

  • How to activate a pen tablet on photoshop on a All-in-one computer [touch screen]?

I have a all in one computer touch screen- and I can use a pen tablet right on the screen, it's active- but when I go on PSCS6 and try to use the pen tablet, it is not active onto the screen- where do you go to activate it?? Can you?

That is the question I asked you.  I think you will find that your display only functions as a touch device.   My old Wacom Intuos 3 Tablet was just a tablet device.  My new Intuos 5 Touch is both a Tablet and touch device. When the pen is in close proximity with the tablet surface touch is turned of and it functions as a tablet.  The Wacom device driver has some Touch functions the can be configured to work with Photoshop.  I could configure touch so I could finger paint in Photoshop. Photoshop does not have its own touch support and touch settings.   If you can find a device driver for your displays touch feature that use wintab api. to support a pen interface you may have a chance,

  • I purchased an iMac MC309LL/A model A1311 21.5" All in one computer. I purchased it 8/28/11 and about 2 months ago it started powering down. I called for support and a Apple Customer Support, I did what they said and now it wont turn on at all.

I purchased an iMac MC 309LL/A model A1311 21.5" All in one computer on 8/28/11. The computer stated to shut down on me every once in a while when I was working on it. I called Apple customer support and a rep walked me through deleting all of my cache files saying it was the prooblem. She then had me do a re-install with the installation disc. After doing that she said to turn my computer off then back on and the computer would want to run some updates an to let them run. I was told to call back if there were anymore problems. The computer turned on for a couple minutes then shut down again and won't turn back on at all now. I took it to the Apple store and they told me it was the main board that delivers power to the computer and it whoulld cost about $550 to replace. I have had this computer for 1 1/6 year and hardly use it. My tech told me the same thing happened to his. Doesn't this mean the equipment could be faulty?
Who keeps track of how many of these are having the same problem and when should there be a recall. I have always used Dells at work. The one I have is 6 years old and works great. I have Compaq laptop at home that is almost 7 years old. I have never had a problem like this before and I can't believe that I spent$1300 for a computer that crashed after 1 yr 6 months. What's worse is that it is my first major Apple product other than my iPod Shuffle.

Sorry to hear of your problem, but any hardware in a computer can fail - that includes the hard drive, the logic board, etc, etc. Fortunately, it usually doesn't happen that soon; however, I've read of hard drives failing within 6 months.
So, since you did not purchase the extended Applecare Protection Plan (3 years coverage), you will need to make a decision to repair or sell it as is. I would always purchase 3 year coverage for an all in one or a laptop because repairs are expensive and at least I'd be covered for 3 years.
We can't speculate on whether there should be a recall or not; these forums are for user to user assistance with technical problems. In your case, there is nothing we can help with since you've already gotten a diagnosis.
