The sort fields should generally be empty unless you've putting in custom values to sort solo artists by their surnames. You can apply common changes to thousands of tracks at once, just don't apply the wrong change because there is no undo.
It is a good idea to backup before undertaking large scale changes. See this backup tip for a suggested approach.

Write PBL code in one place

There are about 10 activities in a process. Most of them have some PBL code snippet such as calculating deadline (including calendar rules) and throwing exceptions.
I also need to create about 50 processes and about more than 500 activities. It is tedious to change all methods in different activities.
Can I just write these similar code snippets in one place? For example, I can put all these similar code snippet in a method and invoke it in different activities (In one process).
If it is possible, can some of the methods is inherited by other PBL methods?

What Eduardo and Marcos are saying is this to create a BPM Object, and start to create the methods you need, and then, in the methods' properties, set them as "static".
And, when you need to invoke them, in your PBL code you place those calls as YourModule.YourHelperBpmObject.yourStaticMethod(args)

Good question. This is very important while designing Forms and Scripts. Standard texts are convertible into different languages. When logged on with a particluar language it gets converted into that particular Language. Thus it is advisible to maintain the Constant Texts in Standard text.

How to have all my music in one place!!

Hi All
My itunes is in a mess!! My original computer broke and the itunes library had some of my cd collection as well as purchases from itunes. I cannot find the back-up discs from this original library, it is however on my old ipod (which hasn't been synched for over a year!!). Before the computer broke, I installed a couple of my favourite playlists onto my iphone (but not my entire music library). I have been making new purchases from the same account name and password as I have always had but obviously on itunes re-installed onto a new laptop. These new tunes have been synched to my iphone and I have recently upgraded my iphone software after backing it all up etc.
When I tried to sync tonight, my iphone said that i had to erase and sync my library as i wanted to transfer new purchases onto it - i did this as there was no other choice! I have lost my fav playlists and only have recent purchases in my itunes library on the laptop. i tried to sync my ipod which has my entire library minus recent purchases on it and it says that it is linked to another library and cannot transfer into my itunes - I have never had a different itunes account!! I would like all my music together but now have half on one device and the other half on the other! Is there a way I can merge the 2 together as i thought you could run 2 devices off one account - have tried thru' homesharing but not sure if that's the right way???

How do I get all my music in one place?

I'm not sure how this happened but I have music in two different place on my macbook, under Applicaitons and also under "___" (the name of my macbook). Itunes is only recognizing the music in one location. The rest of the music I get "file not found".

How can I store ALL cache files in ONE place? i.e. in one folder

I would like all the cache files to be maintained in one single folder and not spread over multiple folders in a directory structure (as it currently operates).
(current cache location)
C:\Documents and Settings\xxx\Local Settings\Application Data\Mozilla\Firefox\Profiles\xxxx.default
(multiple folders and sub-folders)
Is there some way for Firefox to do this?

AFAIK that is not possible.
It is possible to choose an alternative location but the structure will remain the same.

I do not know whether you have discovered it but you cache details may be accessed from Firefox by navigating to ''about:cache'' . About:cache details the three caches.

Get all my music into one place for iTunes to 'see'

I have moved from PC to iMac and have 2TB of music on a Western Digital (WD) external drive. Most of them are in folders named by Artist etc. When I started using iTunes on my PC, it created a 'Music' folder on the WD drive. Some of my music is now there and some is still outside the 'Music' folder. I understand I cannot 'drag and drop' files to where I want them. Now, for some reason iTunes only references some of the music - even if it is inside the 'Music' folder. I am getting a bit fed up of wanting to play, say, Stevie Wonder and finding that I have to manually 'Add Stevie to Library' to get him into iTunes; whereas my girlfriend's a-Ha albums are already smugly sitting in the iTunes library (unplayed, I might add)
So I have music in the WD drive; I also have a sub-folder within the WD drive called 'Music', originallly created by iTunes on PC (this contains most of my music). However, iTunes is only 'seeing' the tracks that it feels like. I have the 'Keep iTunes media folder organized' box ticked; as is the box for 'Copy files to iTunes Media folder when adding to library'. I think I could probably hit the 'Add to Libary' button and re-add the entire collection but I think that is time consuming to process and will result in lots of duplicates which I'll then have to delete.
Is there a (relatively) straightforward way I can re-initiate iTunes into find ALL of the music on my WD drive and get it to stick it where it wants to stick it (if you'll pardon the terminology)

The problem is not that iTunes doesn't "see" the music; the problem is that iTunes doesn't "look" for music until manually prompted to do so.
The best approach would be exactly what you suggest, which is to use the Add Folder to Library function, or the simpler (but perfectly equivalent) approach of dragging the folder into the open iTunes Music window.
iTunes has certain built-in safeguards to reduce the creation of duplicates, which are not perfect but will certainly help. Start with a few folders and you will see how it behaves, and then you can do all the rest.

That must be quite eye-opening for people who think they only did one song. ;-)

Well yes, I was hoping for a magic 'Repeat Function, and sort of thougth I had used something like that before...but could nto remember what it was called.
I have been following the answers all day , but have been on and off aircraft all day and have nto been able to find time to try anything out or respond
I did try the mail merge option...but the pages documetn always had the Mail Merge option greyed out.
Eaarlier I just created the label i wanted and copied and pasted, but the Alt Option way is much easier...that combimed with teh Find Replace is the way to go i think for this
I rarely use any Office apps of any description, so every time I do...maybe once every few months, it is always a chore to remeber how to do things.

I am looking to have all my files in one place as i am hopelessly disorganised. I know the online clouds are a good solution (used Dropbox at work and uni for 3 years) however i am wanting to create my own 'dropbox/icloud' at home. So whenever i get back home with my laptop, any work i have been working on whilst out that day is updated to the timecapsule, and then ultimately as i turn on the other devices, they update to those newer versions of the files. Please tell me that the 3TB time capsule i have can do this, otherwise it feels rather overpriced as a wireless storage device?
Another note (to those in the know) If i am to be working on large files (REVIT/SOLIDWORKS/KEYSHOT/CREO/AUTOCAD) - is the timecapsule connection good enough to support editing and updating these files?
I know i may be asking a question that many have before, but as a bit of a technical novice I wanted a clear-cut answer to my specific circumstances. Your help is greatly appreciated.
(*can i use this WD hard-drive that is connected to the Time Capsule as a back up? so that the time machine back-ups/any back ups are also backed up onto this one? can the WD be a backup for the TC?)

I have a new iPad. My friends old iPhone. And my old iPod. My laptop crashed and now all my music is just on my iPod. I have some downloaded music on my iPhone and iPad. All my music is in different places because my brother and sister and I share our music with eachother. Help?? I just want all my music from all 3 devices into one place so I can put ALL my music on ALL my devices without a computer. Thanks!

Not possible without a computer. You will absolutely need a computer if you want to do this. You will also need iTunes to sync it back on to the devices.

How do i get all my music in one library file?

My entire iTunes library is on an external hard drive "A". Due to my Powermac G5 dying, I had to set up iTunes on my Macbook Pro. I used Senuti to transfer all my music and content from my iPod to a different external drive I will call "B". Once that was set up, I erased and synced my iPod again. Everything is fine with the iPod and my Apple TV. In the iTunes preferences, I clicked Advanced and changed where I wanted my library to reside. I selected the new location which is drive "B".
My question now is that when I click on my iTunes Music folder, I am only showing 269 items which is a mixture of music and video content. I have well over 1,300 songs not to mention 87 music videos and 60 podcast videos. So when I did a search to see where a lot of my songs were located, I was surprised that it was showing the songs were being housed on external drive "A" even though I set it up that I want drive "B" to be where my library file should be. So as a test, I disconnected drive "A" then opened iTunes and tried to play a certain song and it said it couldn't play the song because the original file could not be found. When I reconnected the drive, it played just fine.
So what do I need to do to get all my music on one hard drive, for me that would be drive "B"? Do I need to follow the steps in the article below to make that happen? I have no problem with having a back up of my library, I just want all my music in one place in the location I have specified and keep the back up on the other drive so I won't have to keep it connected to the computer.

A very straight forward question I think. I just never did it before. Anyone knows of a fast technique of doing this? I have to make 70+ images this way. Could it be scripted?

You'll need to be more specific. Placing a single image on one spread is drop-dead simple. File > Place, choose file, click (or click-and-drag) to place, scale and position as desired. You can ask about scripting in the
scripting forum.
You might not need to script this to get efficient use of time. Make a picture frame on the master spread and then insert 140 pages (70 2-page spreads) based on that master. File > Place, and select all 70 files. (They need to be in one folder. Click on the top file, scroll down, lick on the bottom file.) Zoom out and click once on each spread to place each image. Should work faster that writing, testing, debugging, and running a script.

If you log into his account and download some of his past purchases on your iPad then you risk tying your iPad to his account for 90 days : iTunes Store: Associating a device or computer to your Apple ID

If you have his content in your computer's iTunes library then you could sync it from there instead of risking the 90 days association on your iPad. If you don't then you could copy it from his computer and then sync it to your iPad e.g. copy his music to a flash drive and then add it to your library via File > Add To Library
