All text getting fat upon publishing

when i publish to .mac, all the text gets fatter, like it was set to bold somewhere in process (except for text that actually is bold, which is now double-bold).
i'm viewing the page with safari on my own computer.

I have also experianced this problem on my site's main page (http://www.wmuthetatau.com). I think this might be more of a Safari bug then anything. I'm viewing my site right now from a Windows XP computer using Firefox and I'm not having the same problem. Try viewing your site with Firefox and see if your problem persists.

All functions getting called upon start up.

I'm experiencing a really annoying problem, it appears that
upon start up of my Flex application, all of the functions in the
script tags are getting called, even the ones that have nothing
calling them. For example: if I add the function:
private function foo():void
and set a break point in the first line of the function. The
break point gets hit every time on start up. This is annoying as it
is causing many problems with my webservice.
If anyone has any ideas, please let me know.

This is causing problems with the webservice because I have a
method that calls the webservice which is getting called when the
application initializes and before the webservice has time to load.
This scenario happens even when the web service is taken out
entirely. I actually believe this has something to do with a Model
that I'm binding an xml file to. I have a custom xml configuration
file for my application which is the source of a Model. Different
parameters in that configuration are bound in different places.
When I debug on one of these methods, I notice that the
configuration model is near the top. I think this is causing my
problem, but I can't be certain at this point. Does this sound
right? Would the Model binding have anything to do with this
problem of all the methods getting called?

All of a sudden cannot publish?

hello all
have been trying to publish to .mac for over an hour. site was already up and i went in and made a few changes now it will not publish. tried all the ways to publish and keep getting the ''logging in to .mac'' box with bar moving..then big box opens that says to ''log in to .mac'' which i do and i am logged in then i hit close and then the iweb ''logging in to .mac'' either closes or just sits there running.
is there a problem with .mac today maybe? i've never had this before? roddy?? tom?? u guys out there?

Today I was trying to update my 7 week old sons web page with his christening pictures and all I get is "unknown publishing error" I did notice that during feed time my machine had gone into sleep mode and when I opened it up again all my pages in the organizer were red as if unpublished! Now I am unable to publish.

Text in text boxes getting cutoff after publish

We have an e-learning project with a large number of
application simulations that were built using Captivate 2.0 (build
1177). The published swf files from captivate are loaded via XML
into a flash shell we've built that serves up additional asset
types (text, graphics, video) along with the captivate movies to
make up a module. The captivate movies are the only asset being
served up when used (i.e. they are not sharing the screen with
other graphics or text).
The problem we are having, is that once a captivate movie is
published, and played via the module shell, some (not all) text
boxes are displayed with the text being cut off on the left. The
left margin settings appear to be ignored, and the text is cut off
by a couple pixels. This appears to be totally random. In the
almost 200 captivate movies we've created, we start out by
recording the application function we are training on, and then
update the captivate with refined text (using HaloYellow text
boxes), and import audio from a narrator.
When the final captivate is published, we can preview using
the _skin.swf and html file, and we cannot replicate the text box
issue, however once we play the swf through our course shell, we
can see the problem text boxes.
One way we have been able to fix this, is to go to the
problem text box in Captivate, select it, cut it out (ctrl-x) and
then paste it back in. Then we check out the newly published
version (in the course shell) and the text box appears as it
should. The problem is, there may now be other text boxes
displaying the problem text being cut off.
In my research on this issue, I did learn about setting text
margins in the .FCM files, but I am finding this is something that
must be planned for before creating the captivate, as it is not
something I can change and then hope to take effect when the movie
is next published.
If this link works, it should launch a web page with an
example of one of these problem text boxes..

Hi Sean
In addition to what jbradley88 offered, there is one other
factor that could be at play here.
Do the captions look okay on some PCs and not on others? If
so, it could point to an issue with the DPI settings for the PC. If
this is the case, you will want to perform the following steps on
the PCs where this is an issue.
* Display the Windows Desktop (Easily done by pressing the
Windows key and the D key together)
* Right-click the Windows Desktop and choose Properties from
the context menu
* Click the Settings tab
* Click the Advanced button
* Click the General tab
See the drop-down labeled DPI setting? If that is set to 120,
try setting to 96 and see if things improve.
This may not be what is at play, but I've seen it have an
impact on other display issues.

When I try to open a saved image with the "htm" file extension all I get is a page of gibberish text.

I have the new Snow Leopard system on my iMac. I saved several images from an art site. The file extension on each image is "htm". when I try to open each image all I get is gibberish tpye text.
Can convert these "images" to jpeg files so I can view and edit them?

If the images have a .htm(l) file extension then you need to rename the files and give them an image file extension like .jpg<br />
That should be sufficient to make programs recognize them as images.

Can I get a print out of all text messages for the past 90 days including pictures?

Hi I am attempting to get a printout of all text message for the past 90 days to include text and pictures. How can I do this?

Messages + (Verizon messages app) stores up to 90 days of messages, but I think it starts when you install it - it doesn't go back prior to installation. Other apps (SMS Backup, for one) will also allow you to save and print out your messages. Again though, I believe it only goes back as far as installation, so if you haven't been uisng the app(s), you won't have the previous 90 days available.

Thank you for your reply....I actually managed to get it showing in itunes....but couldn't open the phone at all....so took a gamble and got itunes to restore my phone back to factory settings ! which it did...then it restored all the backed up info.....so far so good !!!! phone seems to be working !!! no red lines...! but am still going to take it to the apple store and get them to check it out.......Oh....I lost all the apps I'd bought.....although their on itunes....my phone won't ake them back ??? Text gets jumbled up after publishing.

After publishing my text gets illegable. Sentences are written over each other. Mabybe my texts are too long. Some pieces are ok but at the end of the text trouble starts.

Perhaps check in iWeb that you don't have text boxes that are overlapping each other. This can be a cause. Also, if you know that you have a long piece of text to publish, just use one text box rather than a few. This makes more sense and it is less likely that any box will overlap.

Rich Text Box Issue - Expand to show all Text

Hi everyone
I'm having a pretty frustrating issue with the rich text box when viewing a line item (not when editing the item, but viewing the item)
I want my rich text box to expand with the text, which I have changed in the options on InfoPath with the "Expand to show all text" scrolling option. However, in IE, the table row will expand, but the actual rich text box will not and I'll have
a scroll bar there and you cant see all of the text at one time. If I look in Chrome, then it works the way I want and I can see all of the lines of text that were entered into the rich text box.
The only solution for IE to work correctly is to change the Display settings to "Enable enhanced rich text content...". But the big issue with that is now you can no longer highlight the text (the highlight disappears right after highlighting it),
and the users will need to copy text from the text box, so it renders the "enhanced" rich text box useless for us
It's kind of a lose-lose situation that I'd love to find the solution for

I guess a better solution would be how can you highlight text from an enhanced rich text box, because changing these to "rich text box" gets rid of font colors in the pre-existing data.
The original problem was that they couldn't highlight text unless they went into edit mode

Maybe the document is corrupted. Can you open other Pages documents? Preview may open it. Right click (or control click) on the document in Finder and Open With > Preview.
If that works, Edit > Select All, Edit > Copy. Then paste into a blank Pages document. Formatting may be messed up, but you will have editable text. Then Save (with a different name), close and see if you can open the new document.

Bought a refurbished Macbook without operating system. Trying to get an OS installed but all I get is a white screen?? HELP!

I purchased a refurbished Macbook pro without operating system.
This is my first Mac, but have heard they are very simple and much more intuitive than Windows,
I've had the machine for three weeks now, and it's been nothing more than a paperweight!!
A friend said he had his old install disks, which happened to be exactly what google said I needed to start out as: version 10.5
When I boot holding the OPTION button down, I get two options. Windows (with an up arrow below it) and Mac OS x Install Disk 1 (with an up arrow below it).
I can move the mouse, and move the cursor with my arrow keys, to select either Windows or Mac OS install. The problem is - if I select the Mac OS install,
the disk starts up (I can hear it), but it never does anything. I can no longer move the mouse / cursor after selecting it. It will stay for hours like this with no progress.
On the disk itself, it says MAC OS version 10.5. This software is part of a hardware bundle purchase - not be sold separately.
It also says: to start up from Mac OS x, hold down the C key as the computer starts up. When I do that, all I get is a gray screen.
I've also tried the shift key when starting up (supposed to be safe mode?) but same thing - gray screen.
The only way to even eject the disk (scared the heck out of me) is to start up holding the OPTION button.
If I select WINDOWS after using the OPTION button, I get an IBM message:

I assume this is what they used to wipe the hard drive before sending...
Obviously I am Apple-illiterate, but I've spent days going through chat rooms, etc. and came up with nothing.
At this point, I suspect either:
1) The machine is junk and needs to be returned OR
2) The disks are bad and/or can't be used for a clean install
I don't want to waste money buying a brand new OS, only to find out that the machine is bad.

That model originally shipped with a special Intel version of Tiger. You should be able to install any retail version of Leopard or later. I would recommend you start with Snow Leopard. After you install Snow Leopard you will have to download and install the Mac OS X 10.6.8 Update Combo v1.1 to update Snow Leopard to 10.6.8 and give you access to the App Store.
When you receive the DVD:
Drive Preparation
1. Boot from your OS X Installer Disc. After the installer loads select your language and click on the Continue button. When the menu bar appears select Disk Utility from the Utilities menu.
2. After DU loads select your hard drive (this is the entry with the mfgr.'s ID and size) from the left side list. Note the SMART status of the drive in DU's status area. If it does not say "Verified" then the drive is failing or has failed and will need replacing. SMART info will not be reported on external drives. Otherwise, click on the Partition tab in the DU main window.
3. Under the Volume Scheme heading set the number of partitions from the drop down menu to one. Click on the Options button, set the partition scheme to GUID then click on the OK button. Set the format type to Mac OS Extended (Journaled.) Click on the Partition button and wait until the process has completed.
4. Select the volume you just created (this is the sub-entry under the drive entry) from the left side list. Click on the Erase tab in the DU main window.
5. Set the format type to Mac OS Extended (Journaled.) Click on the Security button, check the button for Zero Data and click on OK to return to the Erase window.
6. Click on the Erase button. The format process can take up to several hours depending upon the drive size.
7. When completed quit DU and return to the installer. Complete the Snow Leopard installation.
