ALL -THE-TIME PROBLEMS

im oh so very new to this forum and to the oracle environment too.
Ive just installed the oracle db 11g r2 enterprise edition to my Dell Xps l702x .
So there were some erros whils installing the software anyway ive continued it and all the products in the status bar during the instalation process were shown as installed properly.
So i created a database during the instalattion but ive deleted it cuz i could not log in to it because the ORA-TNS-12560 Adapter protocol error :/
Then when i wanted to create a new db conncetion with the provided oracle db configuration assistant i encoutered a troble with the listener that was not seted up. so i redirected to NETCA trying to creat a listener anyway i could not do that too becauseit said that the default port 1521 was busy by another listener that was not event existing .
So i can logon to any connection i cant do anythnig.
why is this oracle thing so inconvinient ??
u have to set environment variables, change the ora file, do a lot of different things if i jsut wanto use a local db for practicing... why doesthis all configure during the instalattion in gives shit to me really...
any hel wouldbe regretful

WHat OS? Please check the Installation Guide that your specific OS is supported (hint: Win 8 is not supported. No "home" edition of any version of Windows is supported).

So in spite of errors being reported during installation, you forged ahead and expected things to work?

That's like tearing down your house and trying to rebuild it just because your door key didn't work. Lesson for the future: work the error message. That error is usually due to a simple syntax error on the connect string.

1) you ignored the Installation Guide and attempted to install on a non-supported OS
2) you ignored error messages during installation
3) you failed to resolve a the tns-12560, which most likely resulted from a simple syntax problem when you tried to connect to the database
any hel wouldbe regretfulAt this point we really don't know what you've done and what condition your unknown system is in, or where you want to go from here.

Little circle turns/ page doesn't load/ problem triangle comes up almost all the time
The little connecting circle comes on and turns no matter what -- whether it's from a bookmark, an email, a typed in address. It turns and turns, then either times out or says problem loading page ALMOST all the time (I can't figure our why or why not). I just downloaded the latest versions of both Firefox & Thunderbird. I check my AVG and Firefox has a clear pass.
It is possible that your security software (firewall, anti-virus) blocks or restricts Firefox or the plugin-container process without informing you, possibly after detecting changes (update) to the Firefox program.
Remove all rules for Firefox and the plugin-container from the permissions list in the firewall and let your firewall ask again for permission to get full unrestricted access to internet for Firefox and the plugin-container process and the updater process.

Macbook battery life, is there a problem If I keep it plugged almost all the time?
Hello.
New Mac user here, so I was wondering if there's a problem if I keep my MBP plugged all the time.
Most of the time I'm on my room using my MBP fully charged and I don't disconnect it.
Is there a problem with my batter life if I do that?
Or it's recommended to unplug and use it till the battery run off and then charge it again?
Because I work a lot on my MBP and that way in a simple day I could charge it and run uff the energy of the battery 2 to 3 times at day.
What's better for the life of my battery?
And if you could give me some advices to maintenance my battery and Macbook pro (also programs) I would appreciate it.

No. I do that most of the time. Perhaps monthly I discharge it to the 40% level to keep the battery happy. Do not discharge the battery completely. If you are forced to use only battery power and you see the battery is low warning terminate your session or plug into AC if you can.

my iphone 5 keeps crashing all the time and has a delay of about 3 seconds when doing anything on it i did a factory restore on it but it didnt fix the problem i went to optus to see if they could help me as my phone is through them but they knew nothing i need help please my phone is only 8 months old
Plug the device into a wall outlet and leave it for about 20 minutes. If it has not powered on at that point try a reset by pressing and holding the home and power buttons for about 15 seconds until the white Apple logo appears.

Macbook Pro is slow, freezing all the time and has Wi-Fi problems
Hello!
My Macbook Pro started acting kinda strange a couple of weeks ago. It's slow, freezing all the time and constantly connecting and reconnecting to the Wi-Fi network after around half a minute of usage.
Here is the story, as far as I know:
In the start of 2014, pup-up boxes started popping up on my Macbook Pro. They said that I had to enter a password for the Keychain to gain access to a service or something. The odd thing about it was that I had never set up my iCloud Keychain. It just started appearing without me knowing why. Unfortunately, I didn't know the password for this due to the fact that I never set it up. I tried every password combination that could possibly work, but I didn't get through it. I tried different solutions, but nothing worked out. I solved it by simply making a new user account on my Mac. I used this for like 1 month before the whole Mac with all its user started messing itself up.
It might be worth to notice that this secondary-user didn't require a password to log in, so when I closed my Macbook and re-opened it, it would continue where it was left off. This might have been the reason for the Mac sometimes to get really warm while being in my backpack, which might also have caused the problem. I am not sure though.
After using the secondary user for a while, the Mac started acting strange again. This time it was something different. One day, my girlfriend started up my Macbook Pro and noticed that it was extremely slow. I assumed it was just in the need of a restart, but that wasn't it. The computer started freezing all the time at first. It froze when I clicked something in an application, and I had to wait like 10 seconds for it to go back to normal. If I was typing anything on Facebook, it would freeze, but I could still use any other tab of the browser without any problems. However, they would freeze to if I did anything special on other websites. Every other program would also freeze for reasons like typing or clicking on anything.
After a short while, it started being really slow during startup and use. A few days ago, my Macbook Pro also started disconnecting from Wi-Fi networks while trying to load pages. It doesn't disconnect every time, but it does sometimes. It tries to reconnect after that, and if it succeed's, everything is back to normal for a while.
Additionaly, the battery have been draining faster, and when it reached 0%, the computer turned off and closed all the open programs. Normally it has entered Sleep Mode, but not anymore.
Do any of you have any clue what the issue might be?
I have done the following:
- Reset PRAM
- Restore to system defaults
- Installed AVG Antivirus and scanned it
- Repaired and verified disk in Disk Utility.
- Uninstalled Adobe Flash Player.
I hope anyone can help me! I really need my computer for educational use!1. This procedure is a diagnostic test. It changes nothing, for better or worse, and therefore will not, in itself, solve the problem.
2. If you don't already have a current backup, back up all data before doing anything else. The backup is necessary on general principle, not because of anything in the test procedure. There are ways to back up a computer that isn't fully functional. Ask if you need guidance.
3. Below are instructions to run a UNIX shell script, a type of program. All it does is to collect information about the state of the computer. That information goes nowhere unless you choose to share it. However, you should be cautious about running any kind of program (not just a shell script) at the request of a stranger on a public message board. If you have doubts, search this site for other discussions in which this procedure has been followed without any report of ill effects. If you can't satisfy yourself that the instructions are safe, don't follow them. Ask for other options.
Here's a summary of what you need to do, if you choose to proceed: Copy a line of text from this web page into the window of another application. Wait for the script to run. It usually takes a few minutes. Then paste the results, which will have been copied automatically, back into a reply on this page. The sequence is: copy, paste, wait, paste again. Details follow.
4. You may have started the computer in "safe" mode. Preferably, these steps should be taken in “normal” mode. If the system is now in safe mode and works well enough in normal mode to run the test, restart as usual. If you can only test in safe mode, do that.
5. If you have more than one user, and the one affected by the problem is not an administrator, then please run the test twice: once while logged in as the affected user, and once as an administrator. The results may be different. The user that is created automatically on a new computer when you start it for the first time is an administrator. If you can't log in as an administrator, test as the affected user. Most personal Macs have only one user, and in that case this section doesn’t apply. Don't log in as root.
6. The script is a single long line, all of which must be selected. You can accomplish this easily by triple-clicking anywhere in the line. The whole line will highlight, though you may not see all of it in the browser window, and you can then copy it. If you try to select the line by dragging across the part you can see, you won't get all of it.

Copy the selected text to the Clipboard by pressing the key combination command-C.
7. Launch the built-in Terminal application in any of the following ways:
☞ Enter the first few letters of its name into a Spotlight search. Select it in the results (it should be at the top.)
☞ In the Finder, select Go ▹ Utilities from the menu bar, or press the key combination shift-command-U. The application is in the folder that opens.
☞ Open LaunchPad. Click Utilities, then Terminal in the icon grid.
Click anywhere in the Terminal window and paste (command-V). The text you pasted should vanish immediately. If it doesn't, press the return key.
8. If you see an error message in the Terminal window such as "syntax error," enter
exec bash
and press return. Then paste the script again.
9. If you're logged in as an administrator, you'll be prompted for your login password. Nothing will be displayed when you type it. You will not see the usual dots in place of typed characters. Make sure caps lock is off. Type carefully and then press return. You may get a one-time warning to be careful. If you make three failed attempts to enter the password, the test will run anyway, but it will produce less information. In most cases, the difference is not important. If you don't know the password, or if you prefer not to enter it, press the key combination control-C or just press return three times at the password prompt. Again, the script will still run.
If you're not logged in as an administrator, you won't be prompted for a password. The test will still run. It just won't do anything that requires administrator privileges.
10. The test may take a few minutes to run, depending on how many files you have and the speed of the computer. A computer that's abnormally slow may take longer to run the test. While it's running, there will be nothing in the Terminal window and no indication of progress. Wait for the line
[Process completed]
to appear. If you don't see it within half an hour or so, the test probably won't complete in a reasonable time. In that case, close the Terminal window and report the results. No harm will be done.
11. When the test is complete, quit Terminal. The results will have been copied to the Clipboard automatically. They are not shown in the Terminal window. Please don't copy anything from there. All you have to do is start a reply to this comment and then paste by pressing command-V again.
If any private information, such as your name or email address, appears in the results, anonymize it before posting. Usually that won't be necessary.
12. When you post the results, you might see the message, "You have included content in your post that is not permitted." It means that the forum software has misidentified something in the post as a violation of the rules. If that happens, please post the test results on Pastebin, then post a link here to the page you created.

I am using Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit OS.I've never had this problem before... today I opened iTunes and it prompted me to download the newest version. I use iTunes all the time and have updated it multiple times with no issues. During the installation process it gave me an error message that said:
Runtime error!
Program C:\Program Files\iTunes.exe
R0634
An application has made an attempt to load the C runtime library incorrectly.
Please contact the application's support team for more information.
I quit the installation, uninstalled iTunes and rebooted my computer. I now receive a similar message with a slight difference:
Runtime error!

I did not leave anything out from the error message. It doesn't point to a specific file, it just ends with "(x86)..." Every time I boot up my computer, this error message pops up on my desktop.
How do I repair this issue? I have found multiple suggested solutions but am unsure which one is the best, and I don't want to try a bunch of different things for fear I may make the problem worse. I would like to try and fix this myself if possible but I need to know if that is really possible or if I need to take my computer to someone for repairs. I'm having a little trouble understanding all of what you are trying to explain. From what I can tell, it sounds like your PC has a lot of software problems and you want to know what is supposed to be there and what isn't.

When I tap the mail icon on my iPhone 4s, the menu of email servers pops up. I already have a me acct that I check all the time, no problem. So I choose iCloud, sign in and it tells me that I already have an acct….so why can't I get to my emails then? I've turned the phone off and on twice....that has fixed it in the past but not this time....

Since I downloaded Maverick, I cannot find my External Hard Drive in the "Finder" area. I have to unplug all the time the hard drive to be recognized by my iMac. How can I fix this problem? Thank You.
Check Finderr->Preferences->General and ensure that HDs are selected for display. If so and they still don't, Reset the NVRAM/PRAM and Reset the SMC, and see if that does the trick.

Having problems with ipad mini and Siri. Works sporadically, will work once and then the second time not. Worked all the time with the original Mailbox app. Then started doing the same thing when I installed the new update so wondering if it is software?

Blue screens usually indicate Windows system level problems involving device drivers like graphics card drivers, hardware errors (RAM, hard drive) etc. Malware may also cause this. Hi I have just got some wireless head phones and while using Bluetooth with my iPhone 4S the sound breaks up all the time but if I use a friends iPhone 5 or my iPad it's fine no problems atall! Any ideas what the problem could be people??????
Unpair the headset from the phone with the problem. Restart the phone (hold HOME and SLEEP until an Apple logo appears), the pair the headset again. Also, look for things nearby that may be causing interference in the Bluetooth band. Cordless phones are a common cause of interference.

The bookmarks, cookies, history all the time are deleted when I start Firefox and I need to import them all the time.
I have version 3.6.12This can be a problem with the file places.sqlite that stores the bookmarks and the history.
