All theme images added to '09 file

I noticed after saving a minor text change in an older Keynote '08 presentation file as a Keynote '09 file (no choice), the result is much larger. The original file was 260KB. The '09 file is 3.6MB. Checking the '09 file's package contents, I noticed there is a new "theme-files" folder that is 3.5MB. It holds 20 JPG images that represent all the '09 themes. I didn't use any theme for the original file, unless plain white is a theme. Either way, I don't need the other 19 theme JPGs, do I? How can I change the settings of Keynote '09 so it will ignore themes that aren't needed in the presentation? I know I could delete the theme-files folder from a package contents for each and every presentation file (already tried it and the presentation plays exactly as designed other than the "Some warnings occurred" message), but that's not practical. Can't I convince Keynote '09 that these 20 themes are a waste of space in every presentation file's contents?

No, that doesn't work. That page of preferences all applies only to new documents. I am looking for a way to edit an '08 document and then save it as an '09 document without adding the useless theme images. Anyone know how to accomplish this?

KeyNote files explode in size. How do you stop it from embeddig all theme images (7 MB per theme)?

I think I just found out what is wrong with the file sizes of KeyNote for iOS.
In the Mac version of this app, there is a preference setting called "Copy theme images into document" which if checked includes about 7 MB of images for every theme used in the presentation(!). Normally this setting is kept off (thank god).
However, in the iOS version of KeyNote, there is no such setting. Instead, that function is always ON(!!!). This means that every time you create a presentation in there, or edit one from the Mac version, it will grow by approx. N times 7 MB; where N is the number of themes used in your presentation.
Now, if you use KeyNote for iOS and store your presentations on iCloud — like a good user should — then every single file will be sure to explode in size. And consequently take forever to upload and download from the cloud :-(
Any solution, anybody?

I don't know, Maybe Office 2008 doesn't play nice with Lion. Was 2008 working previously with Lion? Did you have these problems with Snow Leopard?

All I can suggest is uninstalling and starting over with a fresh installation.
Alternatively don't use Office at all. Instead use one of the Office substitues that supports Word documents (OpenOffice, LibreOffice, NeoOffice). Also there's Apple's Pages and MS Office 2011.

Why won't LR 3 load all the images in a cataloged file?

When I try to open a folder or collection of images (in Library, grid view), some of the images load right away, others take several seconds, and some never load. Instead I see gray boxes, albeit with the proper DSC number in the upper right corner of each. I'm using LR 3.6 on Windows 7.

The question is: where are your previews stored?
Normally, without applying some hack, they are next to the catalog.
On my windows7-system that is by default in
C:\Users\[your username]\Pictures\Lightroom, a folder named "[your LR4-Catalog name] Previews.lrdata".
So the previews should always be online.
It may be that LR4 was not complete in building the previews when you closed it last time ?
Otherwise I share your puzzlement. So I would render all standard previews for your entire catalog and then expect that it should not happen again...
Becaues that is the beauty of a complete set of previews: I can do all sort of LR-work apart from Develop while the images themselves are offline - something I would never want to miss!

Thanks Alex, but sadly I already tried that. Neither .docx or .xlsx files show up in the content list. They both show as a Chrome HTML document so changing how Firefox addresses those doesn't help since it thinks its the same type of file. I don't think I can manually add files into the "Content Type" left side nav.

Don't save. Close the documents.
Pages '09 should still be in your Applications/iWork folder.
Pages 5 will damage/alter older files, something Apple didn't tell its users.
Pages 5 is a severely stripped down version with over 90+ features removed.
We recommend trashing/archiving Pages 5 after Exporting any files you may have saved back to Pages '09.
Also rate/review Pages 5 in the App store.

Is it possible to export a file from Organizer with a list of all the images in a certain album? In filling one of my albums I did not save my edited images to the same file... they are spread out a bit.... Now I want them to make a book with them (outside of Elements).

As far as I know, Elements does not have the ability to create lists.
The solution to your problem of making a book outside of Elements is to place all the desired photos in an Album and then select File->Export->As New Files which gives you the ability to make a copy of every photo in the album in a new folder, from which you would create your photobook.

I was working on a keynote presentation and sharing it with another person (google drive). All of a sudden I get the file back and all of the images are gone. This includes the theme images. Any suggestions on how to fix?

The Podcast area in iTunes is where your subscribed podcast feeds would show up. Files (audio and video) downloaded from links contained in the feed would be listed underneath the podcast they were from.
If the files are public domain or you have rights to them you could create your own podcast feed to share these with the world. You'd need a publicly accessible internet web address with space to hold your files, you'd need to upload the file to this space, and create a podcast RSS XML feed and submit that feed to iTunes.

Adding image to a zip file

I am trying to work out a servlet that creates an on-the-fly zip file. I am trying to add an image in this zip file and then I want to prompt user to download the created zip file. It is creating the zip file -it prompts the user and downloads the zip file... but when I open the downloaded zip file -the image is not found to be added in it. Please help, here is the code:

CeliaJane, you need to distinguish between the Aperture Library and the Aperture Application.
Aperture stores your images in a database, and it is this database that we have to find and probably to repair, not the application (hopefully). And since you do not see any images, I suspect that Aperture created a new, empty Aperture Library,and you are now viewing this empty library. Usully the library sits in your Pictures fiolder.
Look into your Pictures folder, if you see a file with a colorful icon with three pictures, called something.aplibrary, as shown above. And also enter ".applibrary" into the "Spotlight" searchfield in the upper right corner of your screen. If you have more than one Library, you should be able to find them this way.
The largest file you find will probably be the correct library.
When you have found the correct file called aperturexxxx.aplibrary, try to open it in "First Aid" mode.
Select the Library and press down "command" and "option" key at the same time, while you double click the library.
Now the First Aid dialogue should appear:
Select: Repair Permissions" and see if you can open the Library again. If it did not help, try the other two options in turn.

I am using the �javax.microedition.amms.control.imageeffect� package(JSR 234) for adding effects like red eye, border, etc. I need to display all the images in my /res folder so that the user can select one from the list for further image processing. I used File Connection API for displaying the images from the file system's /root folder. But while trying to apply the image effects I found that I can not access the file system's /root folder through getResourceAsStream(). getResourceAsStream()could only access the /res folder . Is this correct? Is there any other way to give the InputStream to the media processor through setInput()? Is there any other alternative to getResourceAsStream()? Or Is there any direct way to access the /res folder and display all its files for the user to select?

DNG files do not contain some metadata supplied by the camera, which can be used by the manufacturer's software. Thus, if you don't keep the original Raw photo, you will lose this information.
If your 1000% sure you're never going to use the manufacturer's software, then this isn't a problem. But who can be sure what software you will be using 10 years from now?

1) Many items greyed out in the menu bar, for well over 2 years, maybe more!
2) I Can't drag more than one piece of content from your iTunes library to any device (iPhone, iPad)
If you do it gets stuck for HOURS and HOURS in "Preparing To Update" and the little activity circle never completes, ever!!
I used to be able to drag over 1000 tunes, movies, etc. go have breakfast come back and it would all be on my device!!
Can't do it anymore, one song at a time, maybe an album at a time, or one movie, and that is it!!
If you do a 2nd item the other items stop loading and never continue!!
This is so BAD, I don't understand how they don't have this fixed yet!!
Please tell me I am not the only one!!
...and If I am tell me how to fix it!
