All tools are blacked out in CS3

I have looked high and low, and cannot find anything on this subject..I have attached an image to clarify.. but basically all my tools are blacked out and I can't see what the heck they are.. Its like driving with your windshield covered in tar paper.. I'm running CS3 on a dual core Intel PC.
And I successfully ran CS3 on this PC for the last 3 years, and then all of a sudden it started doing this..and none of the other Adobe products I run are having this problem. Photoshop, Bridge, Illustrator, etc..
This is what I've done so far to no avail.
I ran the Adobe script to clean up any stray dll's
After that didn't work I went ahead and completely rebuilt my pc from scratch, reformatted the hard drive and re-installed XP and CS3
I've cleaned out/trashed my preferences and nothing
I've gotten all the relevant updates from Adobe for CS3
I've even installed CS3 on another machine and opened up the same files I work on and it all works fine on other pc's..
I've attached the image below to show what it looks like.. any help is much appreciated!!

So I turned the hardward acceleration way down, and went with the windows classic theme and that got me thru most of yesterday..
But this morning we're back to square one.. ARGHGHGHGHGH
I do have a custom screen resolution..
I have two monitors running at 1680 x 1050 pixels..  at the highest color quality - 32 bit..
When I rebuilt this PC i donwloaded the latest video drivers so those are up to date..
I do think we're getting close.. it has something to do with the monitors or themes I think..
But I did run this setup for 3 years and it worked fine..
And it did break before I updated to the latest drivers..
What else...hmmm

    I just installed Acrobat 9 Pro and am trying to use the pdf portfolio feature. All of my comments tools are greyed out. I have checked te security settings and they are set to allow comments. What am I doing wrong?

    Quit Safari. In the Finder, select Go ▹ Go to Folder from the menu bar, or press the key combination shift-command-G. Copy the line of text below into the box that opens, and press return:

    From the folder that opens, remove any items that have the letters “PDF” in the name. You may be prompted for your login password. Then launch Safari and test.
    If you still have the issue, repeat with this line:
    ~/Library/Internet Plug-ins
    If you don’t like the results of this procedure, restore the items from the backup you made before you started. Relaunch Safari again.

    I am upgrading our EPM system from 11.1.2.1 to 11.1.2.2. I have downloaded all the required files from e-delivery.oracle .com and unzipped them. I selected Apply Maintenance and when i clicked next all the options are greyed out. I am not sure what i have done wrong. I am using the same user ID which was used for installation of hyperion 11.1.2.1.
    Kindly help me out.

    Also you should only have the option to "Apply maintenance release" like this - http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-1zQHVCODSr0/T5WXNLQN4YI/AAAAAAAAEj4/vNQ_vOT03_8/s1600/image021.png in your screenshot you also have the option to Re-install the release.
    Are you definitely sure the environment has had nothing applied to it.

    Are you working on a background layer? If so, Ctrl + T will not work. Press Alt and double-click your background layer to convert to a normal layer (or right-click BG layer and select Layer from Background) and try again.
    If you're working in Photoshop CC 2014 you can go to Preferences > Experimental Features and tick "Scale UI 200% for high-density displays" to make your buttons and icons larger.

    The content that you are viewing on your Nano via iTunes is grayed out since your iPod is set up for automatic syncing with your iTunes library.  If you want to be able to manually manage your contents (which is sounds like you are trying to do), you must enable the Manually manage music option from under your iPod's Summary tab in iTunes.

    Maybe one of these suggestions will work. Ignore any that you have already tried.
    Reboot the iPad by holding down on the sleep and home buttons at the same time for about 10-15 seconds until the Apple Logo appears - ignore the red slider - let go of the buttons.
    Make sure that you do not have a stalled download in iTunes - a song or podcast .... if you have a download in there that did not finish, complete that one first. Only one thing can download at a time on the iPad so that could be what is causing the problem.
    If that doesn't work - sign out of your account, restart the iPad and then sign in again.
    Settings>iTunes & App Store>Apple ID. Tap your ID and sign out. Restart the iPad by holding down on the sleep button until the red slider appears and then slide to shut off. To power up hold the sleep button until the Apple logo appears and let go of the button.
    Go back to Settings>iTunes & App Store>Sign in and then try to update again. Tap one waiting icon only if necessary to start the download stream.
    You can also try deleting the waiting icons - tap and hold down on an icon until it wiggles - the tap the X on the icon to delete it. Then try to download again.
    You can try resetting all settings. Settings>General>Reset>Reset All Settings. You will have to enter all of your device settings again.... All of the settings in the settings app will have to be re-entered.
    If all else fails, download the updates or the apps in iTunes on your computer and then sync the content to your iPad.

    You're running an old version of Safari. Before troubleshooting, try updating it to the latest version: 6.0. You can do this by clicking the Apple logo in the top left, then clicking Software update.
    You can also update to the latest version of OS X, 10.8 Mountain Lion, from the Mac App Store for $19.99, which will automatically install Safari 6 as well, but this isn't essential, only reccomended.

    The headline says it all. I'm using CS6 on a MacBook Pro, OS 10.7. Previously Encore has worked well. After the most recent update, Encore will launch but all of the options are greyed out. I can't start a new project, etc. When I try to open a previous Encore project, I receive an error message that some needed software is missing. Any ideas to help me solve the problem?     I suspect that same sort of issues that one gets when the activation is messed up. I think the resolution is deactivate and reactivate.
    Are you missing any presets in Premiere? I would look at some of the issues in the Premiere forum to further diagnose the problem and look for the recommended fix.

  • After 10.5.3 update, all buddies are greyed out, already deleted prefs

    This is driving me nuts. I installed the 10.5.3 combo updater and iChat stopped working. Using AIM and Bonjour. All the buddies in both lists are greyed out. Cant' send or receive messages & AOL server thinks I'm offline even though it claims to log in properly.
    I quit the iChatAgent and deleted all the preferences.

    Go to iChat > Preferences > Accounts > Security settings tab.
    Make sure all the Buddies have not been Added to the Block list
    Make sure they are in the Allow Specific People list (or reset it to Allow All).

    Grey text when you look at the content and a lock symbol at the bottom of the screen just indicates that the iPod is set to sync automatically with iTunes. If you want to connect an iPod to multiple computers, play the iPod songs through iTunes, delete songs from the iPod, drag songs from iTunes, add playlists to the iPod etc. you need to change the update setting to "manually manage songs and videos". The text will change from grey to black and everything will be directly accessible through iTunes:

    Something to remember about using an iPod in manual mode is that the "Do Not Disconnect" message will remain on the display until you physically eject the device: Safely Disconnect IPod

    I have seen posts on similar isue but could not find one which was relevant.
    Here is my problem.
    I see that after a confirmation is created, when I go back into "Display and Process Confirmations ", all the buttons are greyed out. The header statuses for the confirmation are as given below.
    Complete 
    Confirmed 
    Created 
    Approved 
    Currently Being Transferred 
    I am not sure why it says "Currently Being Transferred", when its actually posted in the backend.
    All clean up and update jobs are running fine. I am on SRM 5.0. I even tried the program to regenerate BBP_DOCUMENT_TAB entries.
    Please help incase you have experienced this or know the solution to resolve this problem.

    Did you manually run the update reports CLEAN_REQREQ_UP and BBP_GET_STATUS_2 without any document numbers?
    So there is no entry in BBP_DOCUMENT_TAB for this document?
    You mention that the document has been created successfully in the backend?
    Did you check the status of the IDOC in both EBP and the backend?
    Nevertheless I have an Info for you - If you debug the program                                   
    clean_reqreq_up you may find out that the corresponding IDOCs within the                              
    backend system are never found by the FM                                                   
    B46A_GOODSMVT_UPDATECHECK - this FM is called within the program                                    
    clean_reqreq_up with the parameters: 
            object_ident-objkey = IS_DOCUMENT_TAB-OBJKEY.                                               
            object_ident-objtype = 'IDOC'.                                                              
            object_ident-logsys = sender_logsys. 
    where the OBJKEY is the IDOC number within EBP-System.                                              
    Because the corresponding IDOC is never found in the backend system                                 
    (the return code from backend system is always 1 - object not found)
