All Unplayed

I use my ipod to listen to daily podcasts. I update them regularly and would like to know if there is a setting that would allow me to simply sync my ipod and then play "all unplayed".

I'm not sure if the question is (a) get only unplayed podcasts onto your iPod; or (b) how to play them all in succession.
If you click on your iPod under devices on the navigation panel on the left, in the right panel you will then see a series of tabs for specifying your various synchronization settings. Click on the "podcasts" tab, and you can then specify whether you want to include "all" podcasts, or just "all unplayed" podcasts, or whatever. Presumably you want "all unplayed".
I like creating a smart playlist for my podcasts. I can then play that playlist on my iPod so it goes from podcast to podcast without requiring intervention on my part. So, create a smart playlist that is for:
"media kind" - "is" - "podcast"; and
"play count" - "is" - "0"
Then, back in your device settings, under "podcasts", you might also want to put a check mark next to your new playlist, if it's not already there.
Hope this helps.

  • "Keep: all unplayed episodes" doesn't work all the time ???

I subscribe to a couple of podcasts. I have my settings set to "Keep: all unplayed episodes". This setting works just fine on 90% of my podcasts, but on two, the only way for podcasts I've of which I've listed to disapper is if I delete them manually. Does anyone else have this problem? How do I fix it? I've tried unsubscribing and resubscribing, but that doesn't do the trick.
    Thanks,

  • Sort Order of All Unplayed Episodes

The sort order of all unplayed episodes is from Newest to Oldest, which is backwards for me.
Why would I listen to the Newest episode first? It completely breaks any chronology of the podcasts!
I found that you can change this for individual podcasts if you find the details by clicking on the podcast title to open its preferences, but the big list does not have the option.
Please, give me the option to ORDER THE UNPLAYED EPISODES OLDEST AT TOP TO NEWEST AT BOTTOM!
    Thanks, in advance.

I was surprised to see you can/must set this on a podcast-by-podcast basis, but it is hard to argue with having finer control. Oldest to newest seems like a slightly more logical default, but that may just be personal preference.
Not to split off in a new direction, but if I then subscribe to a podcast in Podcasts app that I already subscribe to in iTunes, is it recommended I turn off syncing between iTunes and my iPhone for that podcast? Or will this question basically go away when iOS 6.0 is released?
Do the Podcasts app and the Music/iPod app share podcast files? Or will they be duplicated on my iPhone?
    Tom
The podcasts will duplicate themselves on your device. I turned off podcast syncing on my devices. But the weird thing is that when I sync, podcasts then copy themselves to my iTunes library. Either sync or don't, but don't copy to both.

  • Syncing all unplayed episodes

    Hi
    Does anyone have this happening.
You have iTunes set up to sync all unplayed episodes of podcasts but this doesnt seem to work with the video podcasts, I have to also listen to them to get them removed from the sync as well as view them.
Is there a way round this without using smart folders.
    Thanks
    Chris

Same problem, checked "Sync Unplayed" and the video podcasts are still left on iPod after being viewed. But good to know that if you play them as music helps

  • All Unplayed in My Stations deleted

I accidentally deleted the "All Unplayed" station in My Stations list for the Podcast App 1.2.1.
Is there a way to restore this without deleting the app and downloading it again?

OK, think I just figured out how to do it.
Went to My Stations and selected "New Station".
    Made the name "All Unplayed".
Chose All Episodes, All Media types, Unplayed Only, then selected all the podcasts.

When you're listening to a podcast, slide the current artwork up from the bottom, and you will reveal the control panel. Adjust the little switch in the middle so that it is pointing North, instead of Northwest. That will fix your problem.

  • Keep all unplayed episodes - bug?

    Hi everybody!
My iPod/iTunes7 is killing me. I have selected "Keep: All unplayed episodes" in the iTunes podcast options because I want iTunes to automatically delete all podcasts that I have listened to on my iPod.
If I manually mark a podcast as "played" in iTunes7 it does what I want; deletes that podcast from my iPod.
But it doesn't work the other way. If I listen to a podcast on my iPod (and the podcast is marked as played on the iPod), the podcast is reset to unplayed on both the ipod and in iTunes on first sync.
    This is annoying!
    Please advice!
I've tried restoring my iPod, and I've also installed the latest iPod-update.

How do you create a podcast playlist and get all unplayed podcasts copied to it?

Creat a Smart Playlist in iTunes (File -> New Smart Playlist) that looks like the following:
Once you have successfully done that you can set it up to sync to your iPod Shuffle from under the Shuffle's Podcast configuration tab/pane in iTunes.

After subscribing new podcast, is there anyway to download all episodes for me to go thur them offline without Internet access?
Autodownload is on, all episodes are unplayed, and "Episodes to keep" is set to "All episodes".
Anyone knows where the most basic function in the world "Download all" is? Or it's hiding somewhere I missed?

  • All Unplayed Podcasts - Not Syncing

Seems like there is a problem with syncing and Podcasts. iTunes is reporting 167 unplayed podcasts but the iPhone was only syncing 60 of those. I updated to the new iTunes today and that helped (iphone now sync's 123 unplayed podcasts) a little but I am still not getting all of the podcasts.
I've got the 16GB iPhone with 10GB of free space so space shouldn't be a problem.
Has anyone experienced this problem? Any fixes?

I sort of had the same problem. I usually transfer podcasts manually to my Touch. Recently, (not sure if it was before or after updating iTunes) I couldn't transfer podcasts at all. I tried manually and with sync. The only thing that would happen was about a one second long "syncing" message on the Touch's screen. After syncing, all of my podcasts were gone. The Podcast section was totally empty.
Two days ago I found out that my podcasts were actually in the Touch. They showed up in the browsing window of the Touch. The Touch was treating the podcasts like a music genre. To make the podcasts available to play (since they were actually on the Touch) I made a playlist of the podcasts. They now show up on the playlist where I can play them. Apple certainly needs to look at the newest iTunes and fix this podcast problem. It is an annoying fix.
To see if your podcasts are on your phone or not use the browse button on iTunes while your iPhone is highlighted on the directory on the left side of the screen. If your podcasts are there you can make a playlist in iTunes and set your podcasts in there. The will then transfer over.

  • Unchecking "Sync all unplayed episodes of... podcasts" DELETES THEM ALL?

From iTunes 7.4 to 7.5, Apple has made a horrible thing even worse. Previously, if you left "Sync podcasts" checked on your home computer and plugged your iPod into your work computer, all your podcasts would be deleted because the iPod would turn on the work computer's auto-syncing on, and there were zero podcasts on the work computer. The only workaround for this was to uncheck "Sync podcasts" on your home computer immediately after syncing all your podcasts.
Well, they decided this wasn't stupid enough, so now, in 7.5, unchecking "Sync podcasts" on your home computer IMMEDIATELY DELETES the podcasts from the iPod. There is now no way whatsoever to keep podcasts on your iPod if you regularly connect your iPod to two Macs, short of downloading each and every podcast to BOTH computers.
If I'm missing something, please let me know. 'Til then, I'll be downgrading to 7.1.1.

It looks like this issue was fixed with the iPod 1.2.3 software update. Unchecking "Sync Podcasts" still deletes the podcasts from the iPod, but there's no longer any need to uncheck it, since other copies of iTunes (like the one at the office) no longer turn on "Sync Podcasts" automatically.

  • Difference between "All New" and "All Unplayed"? [podcast section]

What's the difference between these two settings under the podcast section?
I have no idea, they seem like they would be the same?

Right. Suppose you have 5 podcasts on a given subscription. You've listened to the most recent one.
3 newest would be the three newest, including the one you've listened to.
3 most recent unplayed would be the second, third, and fourth ones - not the oldest one (because you're only getting three), but not the newest one, because that one has already been played.

  • In the current "Podcast" app is there a way to play ALL episodes of ALL podcasts chronologically from oldest to newest like there was in the "Unplayed Episodes" list of the original "Podcast" app?

In the original version of the Podcasts app there was an "Unplayed Episodes" list that listed ALL the episodes of ALL the podcasts I had loaded on to my device, and I could listen to them in chronological order from oldest to newest.
In the new Podcasts update I see a list called "All Unplayed" but when I select a podcast from there it plays all the episode of JUST THAT podcast, without switching between podcasts to whatever episode on my device is chronologically next.
Is there a way to listen to my podcasts chronologically across Podcast series and I'm just missing it or did Apple screw the pooch on this one?

Please, please, please... I wonder if the solution of deleting the Podcast App and using the Music App again would work.  My favorite sports radio station splits up their podcasts by DJ (logical), but I want to listen to all podcasts from one day from all DJs.  No longer automatic :(
Apple developers, if you read this please add this feature - you had it in Music App.

  • IPod not showing all Calendars from iCal

I just got a new iPod classic and when I hook it up to my MacBook and sync my calendars from iCal not all of them show up. I have tried syncing all and some selected, but if it didnt show in all, it wont show even checked off. Is this a bug in the system?
    Thanks

    Hello Kristen,
Have you double checked the media type of these TV Shows in iTunes? To do so, locate the TV Show, right->click on it and choose "Get Info" from the Shortcut Menu. When the window pops up, head over to the Options tab. There should be an option for *Media Type* with a drop down list next to it. Make sure that is set to "TV Show" and nothing else. Then hit OK when you are finished and sync the updated changes to your iPod.
Another thing to check is the settings you have configured from under the *TV Show* tab for your iPod in iTunes, when you have it plugged in. It may be set to sync all "unplayed" episodes. You will want to change this to something that is more fitting.
I would start with these two possibilities, and then we will go from there if need be.
    Hope this helps.

  • How to play all my mucis

how to i play all the music i play on i-tunes

iTunes will play video podcasts consecutively only if they are in a playlist. You can manually create a playlist, or create a smart playlist with the following parameters:
    Match all the following rules
    Podcast is true
    *Play count* is 0
    Kind does not contain audio
    Live updating
Now you have a playlist full of all unplayed video podcasts that will update automatically, including removing played podcasts. Hope this works for you.
