All Web Browsers Broken

i posted this under the safari cat but haven't had any luck, but since it's not just safari i decided to try my luck here. recently i've been having problems with ALL of my webbrowsers, i've tried to use safari, firefox and opera and they're all doing the same thing. some pages will render fine and some will render text in glyphs in almost 733t speak! (only sometimes) i've tried to change the character encoding to several different codes and nothing seems to work. i know its not because of openDNS because my macbook renders the same page fine. i figure its something specific on this imac since the problem seems to be universally across all my imac browsers. is something wrong with my setting in OSX? please help! i'm on leopard. thanx ahead of time for taking the time to read the problem.

thanks orangekay for your input. i downloaded both onyx and cocktail and ran them both fully (not at the same time of course) and the problem still persists, pages are still rendering in glyphs. i went in and did the full system with every option checked. still no luck.
also after running the two utilities i've run into a new glitch. when a dialog box appears my pointer slowly moves automatically to the default button that is highlighted. its really strange, i'm not sure if thats a feature or not, but i havent had time to explore the situation.
so you believe it's a font problem? hmm...

Flash player hanging up and crashing on all web browsers. Problem turned out to be AMD drivers

I have been having a problem running Flash Player, green screens, hang ups, crashes etc on my machine. I tried various solutions and every major and some not so major web browsers all to no avail. I tried reinstalling my windows 8.1 no good also tried running 8 and 7 all 64 versions. No go I came a cross a post about a problem with Flash and AMD that seems to recur every nown and then. I have a AMD HD 6670 1 gig GDDR5 PCI-E 2 card so I tried going back through AMD drivers untill I was able to get it to function properly. Finally I ended up using the driver from Dec 2013 13-12_win7_win8_64_dd_ccc_whql along with the AMD Media Codec Package from Aug 2012 12-8_vista_win7_win8_32-64_xcode Flash is now playing with no problems. I thought I would share the solution I used in case it might help others.

I haven't run across this, though I did see a Firefox fileupload bug yesterday (https://bugbase.adobe.com/index.cfm?event=bug&id=2980517). Would you mind opening a new bug on this over at bugbase.adobe.com? Please include URLs where you're seeing this behavior and we'll investigate further.

All web browsers freeze (non responsive)

Hi, can anyone here please help me with the following... I own a fairly good iMac which I bought brand new from apple in 2008, however in the last few weeks I've started noticing problems. Both the web browsers are freezing or hanging constantly, this getting particularly bad today... It happens fast every third or fourth website I visit and the applications just become unresponsive. I've already restarted the mac several time and emptied the history/cache etc but no joy!
I know that with 10.5 Firefox is no longer supported, so I've now uninstalled it but Safari keeps doing the same and Chrome won't install as its not 10.6 or higher!!!... The only solutions I can find on proper sites is to upgrade the operating system or buy a new computer which I think are ridiculous solutions and highly expensive!
Can anyone here help? I've had to use my ipad to type this as the iMac is just now terrible and really annoying to use... For such expensive machines I have to say the support and updates are terrible!!!! Seems like every couple of years they want you to buy new software or machines!

It's every year now and yes it's gotten too crazy, why I'm sticking with 10.6, then BootCamping Windows 7 Pro as it will recieve updates and support until 2020.
10.7 and 10.8 are turning OS X into iOS, it's a horrible interface for a desktop machine, but Apple thinks touchscreens are the future except most of them are likely coding with real keyboards and mice.
Ok, this is your choices.
First off 10.5 is totally insecure and obviously outdated, unless you backup wipe and reinstall everything offline and then use something like Deep Freeze to reboot the machine back to the frozen state, don't use anyting senstive online, you might get by a few more years on outdated browsers etc. 10-15% of OS X users are on 10.5 still, mostly PPC Mac's that can't upgrade. You can since you have a Intel processor.
Your next option is since your machine is likely hosed, is to backup files and wipe and install 10.5 again and any programs you can from original sources, update and then insert the 10.6.3 disk you can get via Apple online or calling them, it's like $20 or so. Then Software Updating until your on 10.6.8. Firefox, Chrome will work fine and recieve updates, don't use Safari as it's hasn't been updated for 10.6. So your good there and your 10.5 PPC software will work in Rosetta that gets installed if you need it for older programs. If you go this route your machine will be fast, faster than 10.5 as 10.6 has updated video drivers. This should do for you if you think your machine is getting a bit long in the tooth or don't want to spend too much more money on it.
The next step is costly, going from 10.6.8 to 10.8 (skip 10.7) via the AppStore online download, your machine qualifies, however all your PPC based software will not work requiring replacement and 10.8 will likely slow down your machine a bit. Slower than 10.6. Also it's a radical change, more like iOS. If you like iOS then 10.8 is your logical step. However there is a drawback, if the firmware upgrade hoses your iMac, then the only repair is a logicboard replacement and if your out of AppleCare then your looking at a new hardware purchase.
Your machine is 5 years old, thus out of AppleCare. Also depending how much you've used the machine, how long it's been on and inhaling dust to clog up the machine that casues it to overheat and kill things like the video card and the hard drive. Also how much you have been using the Superdrive which is needed. Only you know that.
So there is your choices, if you can't do the backup, OS X 10.5 install, then upgrade to 10.6 and then to 10.8, then have a local Mac specialist do it for you.

Hi, I have a big problem. When I browse internet, my iPhone redirect it automatically to different links. most of them are broken links. When I try to stop, web browser or app will be closed. This occur with every web browser, google and apps such as Facebook, WhatsApp, Viber, etc. Why is this ? If I try to open a weblink in a web browser or an app, it will open original link and then redirect to a different web address automatically. And it content nothing. I am confused. Please help.

How do you get your site to appear the same in all web browsers?

There are some things that show up differently in Safari than they do in IE and Firefox, how do I get everything to jive the same? I think it is in the code which I am not an expert on. My website was a template that I purchased online and most of the code was already built in. I have some of my links in Safari showing white when you rollover them but when I look in IE and Firefox they're not there. Can anyone offer any suggestions on how to fix this?

Actually what you are learning here is to create a stylesheet for all of your web pages. Including all of your styles inline in the page's code is very cumbersome.
Each of your pages needs code that refers to your stylesheet:

</style>
This assumes that your stylesheets (in my case, one for print, one for browsers) are located in a folder called /css which is a habit I have for neatness.
One thing that Dreamweaver does very well is keeps track of your styles and helps you edit styles to suit. I'm using CS3 which doesn't really allow you to look at the result of rollovers from within the application, but I keep Firefox handy for previewing. Problem is, once you create a style for a "visited" link, you can no longer see the result of the style for unvisited links in your browser unless you clear your browsers cache. Dreamweaver CS3 always shows links in their unvisited state.
There is other code I use to make Microsoft's non-compliant browsers do the right thing, though rollovers, visited, and such all tend to work the same in all browsers, save the most antediluvian.


The above code handles issues with Microsoft's intransigence pretty well, and my sites tend to look really uniform. But in the case of menus, I often have to write a completely different stylesheet to wrestle with Internet Exploder:

This should give you an idea of how powerful an external stylesheet can be. You can use "if" statements to handle the differences between the Microsoft non-compliant browsers and the more modern and compliant browsers, like Safari, Firefox and Opera.

Flash Player Crashes In All Web Browsers

Dear Adobe,
For months now when ever I visit a site that uses flash, wever it be in Google Chrome, Internet Explorer 9 or Mozilla Firefox. Within about 5 minutes the page I am on will crash and report to me that, the flash plugin / player has crashed. It does this without fail, every time I go online. I mostly play zynga games on facebook. I also use fullscreen whenever possible, and always using the latest version of flash thanks to the cool flash updater.
I have just today checked and updated to the latest nvidia graphics drivers with a clean installation.
I followed advice about disabling hardware acceleration and going through the steps for uninstalling Flash, and emptying the folders associated with it. Sadly though the problem still remains.
I would love for this long time problem to be resolved!
My system is Windows 7 64-Bit, with an Nvidia Geforce 7600gs.

All Web Browsers Unexpectedly Crash - Please Help

I just got my machine back from the service place where they installed a new hard drive and transfered the contents from the old hard drive.
Here's the problem. Both Firefox and Safari browsers unexpectedly quit on me shortly after starting. I've tried a few sites, and so far, the Apple site is the only one that hasn't quit on me. This even includes web-based software updates. It will begin the update and then just quit with no warning or explanation.
Can anybody please give me some advice on this? I'm sort of dead in the water. Thanks.

I just tried a simple restart and that seemed to clear the issue up.

All Web Browsers/Tabs go to blank page after sleep

My MBP is set to go to sleep after 1 hour of no activity, the problem lies when I wake it back up and log back in (corporate network), every browser, Safari, Firefox, Chrome, all display a blank page, Firefox goes offline as part of this process, and when the wifi comes back online, (Telling Firefox to go back online) I have to refresh every browser and every tab to get my content back, very frustrating. Chrome displays a page that says "Unable to connect to the Internet"
Is there another way to fix this?
Why do the browsers have to go blank? Why dont they just sit dormant so I can come back to them?

HELP! All web browsers freeze on certain webpages

Alright I'm baffled at what to do with this problem, hopefully someone can help me.
A few days ago i was browsing the web when it froze up on me. This happens from time to time and not thinking to much about it, i force closed Firefox. Upon restarting it instantly gave me the spinning wheel and i had to force quite again (It does this everytime i try any page on firefox)
I then tried safari and it works for a while but upon going back to the site i was on, it froze up also. Same thing with Rockmelt.
Soooo it seems that certain websites are the cause of the problem. I've reinstalled Firefox, cleared my plugins, disabled java and javascript, I uninstalled flash, i repaired the permissions, cleared the cache. But nothing seems to work.
It happens on wellsfargo when i try to see a pdf of my online statements, and other random sites. I've looked for the problem online but I've yet to find a solution.
If anyone could shed some light on this that would be awesome. Thanks

Well, a number of ways to approach this. Start looking for .plist, prefs, caches which might be culprits. Or migrate everything into your "dummy" account, make it admin, and delete your old admin account. Or reinstall the OS (I believe Leopard has the Archive and Install feature).

Parts of pages don't work in ALL web browsers?

There's a site where I'm a registered user and have a profile page. One one of my PowerBook G4s, all the frames and content appear fine and I can use the tabs and pull-down menus no matter which browser I use (Safari or Firefox). On my other PB G4 though, these things don't work no matter WHICH browser I use--I've tried Safari, Firefox and Camino. Under the content tabs, there is no content and I can't highlight the other tabs. If I click on a pull-down menu, nothing appears.
I tried emptying the cache of all of them. I went through all the preferences for each browser and for system prefs and matched them to what's on the PB G4 that works--but these items still don't work on the one laptop. Obviously this isn't a browser issue so I'm thinking it has something to do with the operating system? Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Movies show (no picture) in all web browsers

I have a G5 running MacOS 10.4.7. All software is up to date and I've reinstalled QuickTime. Whether I'm in Explorer, Netscape, or Safari I get a (no picture) were a QT clip or picture is suppose to be. Mostly I'm talking about the movie trailers on Apple's site. They view fine from iTunes.
Anyone got an idea?

i have this problem too. whenever i go to a website with video clips or when i wanna listen to songs online i cant watch/listen to them, there's just some small blue box with a question mark and a pop-up about a MIME plug in.
i checked my internet plugins as u said above, i couldnt find any VLC plugin.

Flash crashs all web browsers

Iv recently upgraded to win 7 64bit professional
trying to use any flash applications crashes IE8 firefox safari and chrome
Iv uninstalled and reinstalled and tried installing the flash player square for 64bit.
Still dosent work
Is stopping me from using the internet as it is randomly crashing all the time

I cant as soon as i load something with flash the whole page frezzes i cant open the flash options box.

Hmm. That question is very badly phrased. I must learn to use 'preview post' more often. It should, of course, have read:

My iPad Air crashes on all web browsers making it useless for work

My iPad Air crashes alot which is only a problem when filling in forms or working on it , my dads iPhone 6 does the same thing. Are apple products no good any more or is there a way to fix it?! I've tried google chrome and opera and they crash n lose the work too. Basically useless as a work tool

I just cancelled my Iphone 6 order (it wasn't getting here anytime soon anyway) because it is using IOS 8. I wouldn't go near that operating system if you begged me. I used to love Apple products. They absolutely are no good since I upgraded to IOS 8 from 7. What a mistake. My Ipad has crashed 4 times, and after restoring to new, it crashes again. I have lost money on upgrades to apps, or add ons to apps and have finally decided to go to a Windows system. I can always add ipadian to the windows system to use my apple apps. I better not upgrade my apple imac or something terrible might happen. Sorry Apple but I had one of the first Apple IIe's way back in the 80's but you lost me for good, because you are ignoring everyone with this - "it is a hardware problem", no sir it is not. Turn on WiFi and there it goes again, crashed.
