Allow a non-administrator to install certain software on a domain computer?
Hi, I think this question was answered before, but mine has a little twist to it.All the users (are on Dell notebooks, Win 7 Professional and/or Enterprise) in my Domain are Domain users. They cannot install any software.But recently Adobe came up with Adobe Creative Suite Cloud Edition where each user have to download and install any Adobe "module" as they need (Photoshop, Bridge, Illustrator etc). On top of that, Adobe has many updates, upgrades and security patches.Worse of all, some of my users share Dell Precision Mobile workstations and Adobe Creative Suite Cloud Edition is "user" based, something like Google Chrome, whereby each "logged on" user have to install their desired module(s).So is there a way I can set users NOT to be local administrators but can download & install any Adobe Creative Suite Cloud Edition modules and its...

Installing old software on a new computer
I have bought a new computer with windows 8, when I try to reinstall old adobe software on the new computer, I manage to install the Akamai installer SW, but then the installation procedure stops. I have tried several times. No success.

Is it necessary to install printer software on every computer in a wired network?
I have a HP Officejet 6000 Wireless Printer E609n. I am attempting to connect it to an all wired home network. There are three computers, two of them running Windows 7 and the other Windows XP. I have installed the software on the main computer that is running Windows 7, and the printer works fine. However, the printer does not appear on either of the other two computers. I have confirmed that all three computers can communicate with each other. The three computers are hard wired into a Medialink router. Do I need to install the software on each of the other two computers? I tried it on the Windows XP computer and it did not work properly, even after I reinstalled it. (It kept trying to install HP Solution Center, even though it was already installed). I should mention I do occasionally use the wireless portion of the printer, and the laptop (running Windows 7) will access it fine.

Yes, we definitely have to install driver and software on all computers for any printer using USB, wired or wireless.

adobe software is not free (beyond their 30day free trial). to use after the free trial, you need to purchase a license.
if you've already purchased a license, you should be able to use to install (or re-install) your software on the same computer and also on a different computer. you are limited to two concurrent activations but unlimited installations and activations over the product's (and your) lifetime. -
Allow non-admins to install software?
I find it rather tedious to have to type my password every time others want to install something on the computer (which is a shared computer, by the way). Is there any way to allow a non-admin user to install software, but not have other admin priveleges?
On the screen where you're prompted for the password, find and note down the requested right. Use a program such as TextWrangler to edit the /private/etc/authorization file so that all accounts have that right.

Trouble installing software on a non-administrator account
I am the Administrator on the family iMac desktop. My daughter has a Nikon camera and I am trying to install the software for her camera while she is logged into her account. When I go to install the software, I am prompted by the Mac to enter my Admin name and password. Then a few secs later another msg comes up prompted by the software stating that Administrator or higher level access privileges are needed.......

What does an administrator need to do in order to install software for a non-admin account? Do I need to log into my own account as an administrator to do this?
ThanksAdministrator privileges are normally required to install software. That's a Mac OS X security measure. I suggest booting into your account and installing it from there, globally, so all users can affectively use them.

Can't install add-in for non-administrator
Hello all,
I'm having trouble getting the Adobe Connect add-in installed under a non-administrator user's account. I found a successful method of installing it in this thread, but that method is no longer working for me. As the forum in question is currently down, I'll paste the post below:
I know this is an old thread, but we recently had this issue. Our users do not have the ability to install software, and using admin credentials at the UAC prompt installed it in the admin's profile, instead of the user's.
Here's how we solved it and made it per computer on Vista SP2. All without turning UAC off.
1) Log in as an admin and install the Connect Add-In.
2) Browse to the plug-in directory; directory should contain 1 .exe and 1 .s. **Note, there is a space in ...\Flash Player\...**
C:\users\%your_admin_account%\AppData\Roaming\Macromedia\Flash Player\www.macromedia.com\bin\connectaddin6x5\
3) Run the connectaddin6x5.exe file, which will create 2 .dll files. It will also launch a window, which is okay to close after the 2 .dll files have been created.
4) Copy "\www.macromedia.com\bin\connectaddin6x5\*.*" to a central location for easier access.
5) Copy "\www.macromedia.com\bin\connectaddin6x5\*.*" to c:\users\default\AppData\Roaming\Macromedia\Flash Player\www.macromedia.com\bin\connectaddin6x5\*.*
**When any new user to the system logs in and their profile is generated, this will include the Connect Add-In plugin
6) For users who already have a profile, we created a simple .bat script to xcopy the directory structure and files created in Step 4 to "C:\Users\%UserProfile%\AppData\Roaming\Macromedia\Flash Player\"
7) Have the user run the script once and the plug in will be installed for the user.
8) Log in to/Refresh the meeting.
I hope this helps. If there's a better way to do this without disabling UAC, I'm interested. Or maybe an MSI to push with GPO. Or even a Setup.exe that can be run with User privileges. But with 10-15 users per computer and 100+ computers, this was our best solution.

The computer that I used this method on had the add-in working fine until a few days ago, when the add-in stopped being recognized. Repeating the process yielded no results. When installed as an administrator it works fine, and launching the browser under administrator credentials allows the add-in to run, but this is not an acceptable solution for the long-term.
Any help would be much appreciated.Having the same problem has anyone come up with a fix yet?
Since the connect 9 update to our hosted account we can no longer use in the connect add-in for meetings. we lose all the screen sharing option that we once had working fine. -
Air won't install, XP machine, "Installation may not be allowed by your administrator"

I encountered an error saving my password in the air program Twhirl so I uninstalled that. And then uninstalled Air. And then tried to re
install, but I would get that error.
I tried the
msicuu2.exe utility and it didn't work. I also deleted Air directories to no avail. Also I tried different downloads of the air installer and the msicuu2.exe installer utility. I tried to look through some threads for some hints but none helped. Please help, thank you.
Edit okay I installed an older version 1.5 so it installed and let me upgrade, but the twhirl programs says its corrupt even on new installs.

I just upgraded to Mavricks and get this when I try to launch Remote Desktop:
The Remote Desktop administrator software does not match the installed client software version.
I tried removing the application and reinstalling it to no avail. Any suggestions?

Administrator error message when installing new software
Hi~
I am working with an ibook on OS X.2.8. I gave this computer to my dad when I got a new one and set up an account for each of us, both with administrator priviledges. I just tried to install new software and it keeps telling me that I don't have permission to install software on the default location of macintsoh HD and to check with the administrator... even though I am the administrator. It didn't offer me an opportunity to enter a password or to install the software in an alternate location. I tried installing a different program to see if it was a problem specific to this application and found the same difficulty. I tried both accounts and this happened in both. Then I tried setting up a new account as an administrator and this didn't work either. Then I delelted all accounts except for my dad's account. I've checked the permissions in system prferences mutliple times. Nothing works. Any ideas? I would appreciate any help as this is very frustrating and this computer will soon be useless if we are unable to install updates or new software.

You nreed to repair them in Disk Utility, then reboot, but I'd make second admin account again for safety.
