Hi,
I use Skype as my primary business line (with an outside number), however, when I can not answer, so offline, i have it re-routed to a call centre. Every day at some point, Skype will default my All CallsFrom : Anyone to All Calls From : Contacts which is causing serious problems as I am losing a lot of business and people are saying my phone line is dead. I have a Nokia 6820a and travelled through India with it last yr but since arriving back a yr ago I have only been able to receive calls from t-mobile users and no one else. I know my sim works as I have been using it in another phone.

Is there any way to allow calls from certain people to ring with your phone on silent?

I would like to be able to put my phone one silent, for instance at night when I'm sleeping, but to be able to allow certain people's calls to "override" silent mode. For example, my boyfriend and family know when I go to sleep, so they wouldn't call or text in the middle of the night unless it was an emergency. Other people, however find it amusing to send random text messages in the middle of the night that wake me up. I don't want to miss an emergency call, however, so it's not as simple as just putting my phone on silent. Any ideas?

As David said; record a sound where there is no sound and make this a mp3 file and trasfer it to ur iphone and follow the steps below to make silent ringtone.
    1.    Start iTunes and find the song you want to convert. (It must be an MP3.)
    2.    Right-click the song and choose Get Info.
    3.    Click the Options tab.
    4.    Check the Start Time and Stop Time boxes, then enter times for each (no more than 30 seconds apart, the maximum length for a ringtone). I used 0:00 and 0:30, respectively, as "Spit It Out" has a perfect ascending lead-in.
    5.    Click OK, then right-click the song again and choose Create AAC Version. You should immediately see a new 30-second version of the song.
    6.    Drag that version out of iTunes and into the folder of your choice.
    7.    Delete the 30-second version from iTunes and undo the Start Time/Stop Time changes to the original.
    8.    Open the folder containing the 30-second AAC file you dragged out of iTunes, then change the file extension from .m4a to .m4r. Double-click it and it immediately gets added to iTunes' ringtone library.
    9.    Finally, sync your iPhone. When it's done, you can head into the settings and select your new ringtone.

My iphone makes a loud siren like noise when i make calls or receive calls from anyone, but when i put it on speaker phone its fine, any suggestions on what to do?

My iphone was making and receiving calls no problem yesterday but today when i go to make/receive a call there is this really loud siren like noise on the call
and nobody can hear one another.
I put the phone on loudspeaker and its fine no problems.
I dont have my bluetooth active and i have turned the phone off and on and took the sim card out.
I always updated the iphone to 4.3.4 and nothing has worked.
My phone is within warranty but i dont know if i need to send it for repair or not.
if anyone can help i will truely appreciate it

Try putting your phone in Airplane mode for 30 seconds, then turn Airplane mode back off. If you still can't connect you may need to contact your carrier.

Push notifications appear in Notification Center and alert you to new information, even when the
associated app isn’t running. Notifications vary by app, but may include text or sound alerts, and
a numbered badge on the app icon on the Home screen.
Turn off all notifications: Go to Settings and turn on Do Not Disturb. When it’s turned on and

How can I block 'no caller id' calls from contacting me?

Over the last couple of days someone has got a hold of my number, and has been calling me with a private number. I want to know if there is a way I can block all calls on my phone that come from a private 'no caller ID' number, and only allow ones that have a caller ID through. I have tried contacting my service provider Telstra which they said the most they can do is put me on the do not call register (which doesn't help my situation at all, as the person isn't a telemarketer). Does anyone have any ideas about how to fix my problem?

There is no Third Party App you can load onto an iPhone that will be allowed to take over your iPhone's Phone without jailbreaking your device (which cannot be discussed here nor would I ever recommend doing it).
One feature you can use is the Do Not Disturb feature. You can set it to allow calls from your Favorites then add all of your people to your favorites, but that is not quite what you are asking for.

To avoid receiving any Calls like this, you can adjust your privacy to, Change Allow Calls from... "anyone" to "people on my Contact list only".

Recieving illegal soliciting calls from a skype

I am receiving illegal soliciting calls from a skype phone #. xxx xxx xxxx I called the # back to confirm it was in fact a real # and not one falsified for caller ID. With some research I found that the number was being supplied by Level 3 Communications which I contacted (Call Recorded). They informed me that Skype is using that phone # through them. There needs to be a way to contact Skype for these issues. If not it would seem that Skype is catering to these companies and taking an active part in their illegal operations by profiting from providing the service.

Please report this to [email protected] You can stop unsolicited calls by going to > Tools > Options > Privacy > Only allow calls from people on my Contact List.

DND deny call from all contacts

Hello there!
I'm expecting a call from an unknoown number from a country with a completely different time zone. I want to use the DND function the otherway around. Allow me to silence all calls from my contact list, and at the same time, allow calls from unknown/blocked numbers. Is that possible?
Any help would be appreciated!

I'm a little afraid to sync the iPhone since I don't want to lose my contacts anywhere else.

Calling from Spain with Online number

I am thinking about getting an online number for the US, so that my friends can call me. However, if I call them using my Spanish cell, will the number appear to them as my virtual number or my Spanish number?

That depends. If you use the Skype app on a mobile phone, and you have configured Skype to use a US Online Number as Caller ID when you call your friends, the US Online Number would appear on their phones. If you use just the mobile phone with your Spanish mobile number to place the call, and not the Skype app, your Spanish number would appear on their phones (assuming you send that with your outgoing calls, and that information is passed over from your Spanish mobile network to the phones in the States).
When you purchase an Online Number, it is not automatically configured to be your Caller ID number when you call telephones from Skype. You can set that up by logging into your Skype account using the "Account" link at the top of this web page once you have that number. Go into the Caller ID settings, and select your US Online Number. You won't have to go through any verification steps, but give it a few minutes for Skype's systems to update before you call telephones with that new setting. Also make sure to log into the Skype program on a computer (not from a mobile phone or portable device like a tablet) and change the Privacy setting for Online Numbers to allow calls from anywhere. Otherwise, your friends will encounter busy signals when they try to call that number. It, like the Caller ID settings, are not automatically changed when you purchase an Online Number.

you can block all numbers not in your contact list by doing this:
go to settings
open "Do Not Disturb"
slide on "Manual"
tap on "Allow Calls From"
Select "All Contacts"
All calls from numbers not on your contacts list will now be blocked. You can however still see all numbers that attempted to call you as missed calls. Verify the numbers and if legit, add them to your contacts list to receive any future calls from them.

if you block a certain user, that user should not be able to contact you again in any way. I think in your case, those scammers/spammers might be using another Skype account with the same or similar display name. I think you can consider adjusting your privacy settings to allow calls from people in your contact list only to avoid receiving such unwanted calls again.

IOS nice feature to have - allow notifications from specific apps even on DND

When I sleep at night, I enable "Do Not Disturb". DND has a nice feature that allows calls from specific persons to go thru even while in DND. I'm hoping that Apple would extend this allow specific apps to notify me even on DND. I have a "SmartThings" app, and this app notifies me when unwanted movement, or when my doors/windows are opened by "intruders". I would want SmartThings to notify me, even when I'm in DND.

As long as the app is running, it should.
I use DND on a schedule as well as a third party alarm app and my alarm still sounds every morning before DND is disabled.
