Allow changing of Outlook anywhere options after applying GPO

Policy
Setting
Configure Outlook Anywhere user interface options
Enabled
All config UI enabled
I have used the outlook2010 GPO template to configure outlook anywhere settings. However after enabling these options, the user can no longer change the outlook anywhere settings (all greyed out). So I enabled the above GPO in outlook 2010 ADMX template.
"This policy setting allows you to determine whether users can view and change user interface (UI) options for Outlook Anywhere. If you enable this policy setting, users can view and change UI options for Outlook Anywhere. If you disable or do not configure
this policy setting, users will be able to use the Outlook Anywhere feature, but they will not be able to view or change UI options for it."
However after performing gpupdate, it has no effect, users still cannot change any of the outlook anywhere settings. Here are the download locations for the admx templates if anyone else would like to test and confirm this issue.

when i drag and drop to my ipod it wants to sync everything, but if i make changes to the syncing options and apply it wants to sync it all to make it work. i have 12000 songs and takes two days to sync everything. is there an easier way to drag and drop just one album without making settings changes?

The first ever Sync of 12,000 songs to an empty iPod will take a while, but it shouldn't take two days.
Once all 12,000 songs have been Synced to the iPod, subsequent changes to just one album will result in a very short Sync time. That Sync will include:
the change to that one album
play counts on iPod updated into your iTunes Library
Smart Playlists updated: some complex Smart Playlists are not always updated by the iPod but have to wait for a Sync with the Library.
housework - in other words, behind the scenes tasks that we don't need to see.
Those subsequent Syncs do not sync every single song every time.
So, stick with Syncing. If the first Sync of all your songs is taking too long, try syncing part of the Library (say one or two genres) the first time, a further part the second time and so on. After all, with a Library that large, manually managing the iPod will be a source of torture.

  • Exchange 2007 - Outlook Anywhere problems after installing new SSL cert

*** Original thread posted on wrong forum ***
    Hi all,
Exchange 2007 environment (2x CAS, ISA2006). Not much familiar with Exchange.
Problem: 20-odd machines off the domain use Outlook Anywhere (XP with Outlook 2010). AUthentication pop-up and not able to connect.
Company has recently changed its name and we have to renewed the SSL cert. Previous SSL cert. was issued to: webmail.oldcompname.co.uk (several SANs on that cert., including internal server names).
Applied for a new UCC SSL cert issued to: newcompanyname.com (also includes webmail.newcompanyname.com ; autodiscover.newcompanyname.com + old SANs).
The setting on those machines point the proxy to the following:
Https://webmail.oldcompname.co.uk (which is fine since it is in the cert and can be accessed)
Only connect to proxy servers that have this principal name in their cert.:
msstd:webmail.oldcompname.co.uk (I believe this is the problem since the new UCC SSL cert. was issued to newcompanyname.com).
Browsing technet + internet it seems that I need to look into OutlookProvider EXPR.
When I run Get-OutlookProvider everything is blank (I believe I should be concerned to EXPR only for Outlook Anywhere).
I am thinking of running: Set-OutlookProvider -Identity EXPR -CertPrincipalName msstd:newcomanyname.com
My only concern is whether this might break something else in the Exchange environment, especially as we have 100+ users on smartphones connecting via SSL on webmail.oldcompname.co.uk
Is it save to run this command? Do I need to re-start IIS? Do I need to look into any settings on ISA2006?
    Comments/help are much appreciated.
    Regards

    Hi,
According to the description, I found that we re-new a SSL certificate.
"I am thinking of running: Set-OutlookProvider -Identity EXPR -CertPrincipalName msstd:newcomanyname.com"
Just do it. Then remove the old certificate on ISA server and install a new one.

  • Client side disabling of Outlook anywhere in Outlook 2013

    Hi
Our admins recently had to disable external access for Outlook while keeping ActiveSync for Mobile Clients working. This was done by placing the autodiscover service (autodiscover.ourexternaldomain.com) behind a TMG with two factor authentication, and also
putting our mail.ourexternaldomain.com behind the same TMG. So, Outlook from outside the network can't connect anymore (it will show you the login/pass prompt but what it wants is the two factor credentials, not your domain credentials.. so essentially you
can't connect anymore), and mobile client still work.
In addition, they've disabled the "Outlook anywhere" options (specifically, "Connect to Microsoft Exchange using HTTP" is not only grayed out, it is forced disabled) by GPO.
Unfortunately, that doesn't work for the handful that's already using Outlook 2013. There, even when the "Connect to Microsoft Exchange using HTTP" option is unchecked, the client will query autodiscover.ourexternaldomain.com, and eventually gets
the response containing not only the EXCH protocol (which contains the internal urls), but also the EXPR protocol containing the public urls. That in turn re-enables "Connect to Microsoft Exchange using HTTP", so now clients, even when inside the
organization will try to access the mail.ourexternaldomain.com which is behind the TMG, resulting in perpetual login prompts being displayed (the login actually comes from the TMG, not Exchange).
So, is there a way to force disable "Connect to Microsoft Exchange using HTTP" for Outlook 2013, preferably without changing anything on Exchange and the GPO. I guess I'm looking for the registry key that is set for outlook 2010. I checked up on
the GPO for Outlook 2010 and it seems it sets HKCU/Software/Policies/Microsoft/Office/14.0/Outlook/RPC/ProxyServerFlags = 0. Doing the same for Outlook 2013 (so using the Office/15.0/Outlook/RPC key) results in outlook no longer being able to connect altogether.
When I manually remove the checkbox and restart Outlook, it first connects using the internal url, then after getting autodiscover it sets the checkbox "Connect to Microsoft Exchange using HTTP" again, and since the external url can be resolved
from inside the network, I get the password prompts again even from inside the corporate network.
Is there a registry key combination that keeps outlook connecting but never using the http proxy?

    Hi Stephan,
How about the suggestion from Ed.
Feel free to contact me if there is any update.
    Thanks

  • Exchange 2010+Outlook Anywhere+Windows XP not working together

    Hello,
We have Exchange 2010 installed on Server 2008 R2. CAS/Hub/mailbox roles on same server. Outlook Anywhere is enabled and using a Go Daddy signed certificate for OWA. Now my problem is that Windows XP (w SP3) PC's that are not located inside domain and
shoud use Outlook Anywhere cannot connect to that service. Outlook version is 2007 SP2. On the other hand, that same user can connect from a Windows 7 pc what is also located outside domain without problems. On XP pc windows keeps asking for password repeatedly,
on W7 pc it asks it and accepts and logs the user in and connects it to his mailbox. I have read numerous posts about this kind of issue, put so far none of them helped me. The certificate is issued to mail.domainname.ee and autodiscover.domainname.ee. The
internal name of the server is excha.domainname.ee, external name is mail.domainname.ee. Also I used the Set-OutlookProvider cmdlet to set EXPR to msstd:mail.domainname.ee and also tried msstd:excha.domainname.ee this change did not have any effect on XP pc.
What is wrong in XP and Outlook 2007 combination not being able to connect to Echange 2010?

I was suffering from a very similar issue.  The one major difference for me is that I was using a wildcard ssl certificate for "*.contoso.com" which was not matching with the server name of owa.contoso.com.
Behaviour definitely seemed to only manifest with Windows XP on the open internet (not domain joined or internal) trying to use either Outlook 2007 or 2010 to connect to our internal Exchange 2010 server via RPC over HTTPS.  Autodiscover was successful
but user would be repeatedly prompted for their credentials but they would never match.
The key changes that seemed to fix this for us were to make these updates -
    Set-OutlookProvider EXPR -CertPrincipalName msstd:*.contoso.com
alternatively if you dont care whether the proxy server name exactly matches your ssl cert you can do this (not recommended) -
    Set-OutlookProvider EXPR -CertPrincipalName none
These commands manipulate the Microsoft Exchange Proxy Settings under the Outlook Anywhere options under the connection tab of your mail profile.  In particular the field labeled "Only connect to proxy servers that have this principal name in their
    certificate"
Also, to force RPC over HTTPS and never try and timeout on TCP/IP connection (which cannot work through the firewall) -
    Set-OutlookProvider EXPR -OutlookProviderFlags:ServerExclusiveConnect
This should click the checkbox for "On fast networks, connect using HTTP first, then connect using TCP/IP"
This should then allow autoconfigure to work fine when setting up your mail profile.  If you want to check the settings page you should have something that looks like this -
Finally, please note that Autodiscover settings are updated periodically not instantly. I believe it is something like every 15m or so.  As such, make the changes above and then wait for at least 15-30mins before making any other changes.
I ended up chasing my tail and then some complete red-herring *seemed* to fix the problem.  It was actually something that I had changed 20mins before!

  • Auth Package in Outlook Anywhere AutoDiscover is coming in incorrectly

Let me describe our situation and environment:
We have Exchange 2013 running in a 2008r2 level domain and are using Outlook Anywhere / AutoDiscovery to configure non-domain joined clients (this situation will change later, but our current priority is getting the Exchange server running and worrying and
joining machines to the domain afterwards).  I had tried some configuration changes, which ultimately did not work, and I rolled back those changes.  On the ECP under Servers -> Servers -> My Exchange Server -> Outlook AnyWhere, there is
a box that lets you choose between NTLM, Basic, and Negotiate authentication.  Exchange 2013 default is negotiate, which was working initially.  After rolling back my changes, however, my clients get repeated password prompts, and their passwords
are rejected, if I have Outlook Anywhere authentication set to negotiate.  It works fine if I keep it set on NTLM.
Under Servers -> Virtual Directories -> AutoDiscover (Default Website) -> Authentication, the boxes for Basic Authentication and Integrated Windows Authentication are checked.  These are the default values if I remember correctly.
Even when I have my Outlook Anywhere authentication set to Negotiate, I have a section of code in the AutoDiscover XML file that Outlook pulls that looks like this:
    <Type>EXPR</Type>
    <Server>exchange.mycompany.com</Server>
    <SSL>On</SSL>
    <AuthPackage>Ntlm</AuthPackage>
My research tells me that EXPR controls Outlook Anywhere (RPC over HTTP).  The AuthPackage seems to be incorrect here.  It's still giving me NTLM instead of Negotiate.  When I change Outlook Anywhere's authentication back to NTLM, everything
works (after giving the server about fifteen minutes or so to update).
What is the problem here?  Why does the autodiscover return the wrong auth package for Outlook Anywhere?  Is there a time delay between changing the authentication for Outlook Anywhere and Exchange updating my Outlook clients so that their settings
match?  I know that if I go into an Outlook client that is getting prompted for a password after Outlook Anywhere authentication has been changed to Negotiate, I can manually adjust their Exchange Proxy Server settings and get it to work, but I really
want the AutoDiscover to simply deliver the correct auth package to begin with.
I don't mind using NTLM authentication; it works.  But I really need to know WHY this is happening and what to do to fix it.  Today, it may not matter, but it may matter in the future as network topology changes, and I will be expected to have
    the answer.
    To further clarify:
When I run Get-OutlookAnywhere | fl name, *, my internal and external Client Authentication Methods are set to Negotiate, but I still get the entry I showed above in the AutoDiscover XML file that specifies NTLM.

Outlook ignores the EXPR/EXCH values when connected to Exchange 2013 for autodiscovery, rather it dynamically builds the EXHTTP values based on the AutoD server settings and uses those instead. You should reference those ExHTTP settings when you
    look at the autodiscover results
    Twitter!:
Please Note: My Posts are provided “AS IS” without warranty of any kind, either expressed or implied.
I also have the following bit of code in the autodiscover file
    <Type>EXHTTP</Type>
    <Server>mail.mycompany.com</Server>
    <SSL>On</SSL>
    <AuthPackage>Ntlm</AuthPackage>
This would seem to be the EXHTTP you were referencing.  Again, this value is coming out as NTLM after I change my Outlook Anywhere Authentication method in ECP to Negotiate.  Why?  Is there a delay between changing that setting in ECP and when
it starts showing up in AutoDiscover queries?  If so, what is that delay and how can I change it or force it to update immediately?  Or is it that the setting in ECP does not change the auto discover setting and it has to be changed elsewhere?
If that's the case, what do I change, and where do I change it, to alter what autodiscover puts in for AuthPackage in the above snippet of code?

  • After specifying the external host name under outlook anywhere, users pop up for password

    Dear All,
I have installed and configured exchange 2013 as a fresh installation on server 2012 and it worked fine till i changed
specifying the external host name under outlook anywhere(in exchange ECP -> Server -> server -> W12R2-Email2013).
My internal domain is starnavigator.lk and we have several accepted domains listed. but all the staff checked web mail through
mail.leoburnett.lk internally and externally. even now web mail is working fine.
After i added external host name as mail.leoburnett.lk
all the internal PCs start to pop up for user name and password and its not  connecting.
even if I reversed back the settings, still prompt for user name and password. also auto discover cant locate the settings. if i configure the settings manually, i t works for first time and after restarting outlook, again prompt for name and password.Any
    any advice or solution please??
    Thx,
    Dulana

  • Change Outlook Anywhere Authentication

    Hello experts,
We have an Exchange 2010 environment and all clients are connecting using Outlook Anywhere. By All I mean all clients inside the network, outside the network, domain joined, so all.
Following is the Authentication settings on Outlook Anywhere.
    ClientAuthenticationMethod      : Basic
    IISAuthenticationMethods        : {Basic}
I want to change all users to use NTLM, so no more password prompts. I want to reduce the impact because we have more than 10k clients. Based on my understanding, I am planning below approach. Any suggestion will be appreciated.
    1. Change the IISAuthenticationMethods to have both Basic & NTLM using set-outlookanywhere command. This will allow clients to use both Basic & NTLM and we can do tests from all locations if its working without any issue.
    2. Chang the ClientAuthenticationMethod to NTLM, so Autodiscover will update all existing and new clients to use NTLM.
    3. Modify any GPO if in place to change the Outlook authentication to NTLM.
Anything else which need to be taken care of. Many thanks for any suggestions in advance.

    Hi,
To make Outlook client use NTLM authentication, I recommend you use the command set-outlookanywhere to change the authentication method. Because the Outlook Anywhere configuration in the Outlook client side will be updated by Autodiscover service every time
    we open Outlook.
And we can run the following command: get-outlookanywhere | set-outlookanywhere -IISAuthenticationMethods  basic,Ntlm –
    ClientAuthenticationMethod NTLM

  • Changing Outlook Anywhere from NTLM to Basic Auth (remote users having issues)

    Hello All:
We have a terrible vendor that is implementing our transition to Office 365. They told us we had to change the Client Auth method on the CAS to Basic (from NTLM) and all that might occur is for users to enter their creds and click "Remember my credentials".
    Not the case.
We tested internally & on cell phones - everything went unnoticed. Then peeps from the outside started getting prompted for their UN/PW. Even when they put in their valid creds & check the box, no dice. Reboots, checking Outlook client for the proxy
settings (which are now set to Basic) sometimes does, sometimes doesn't work. We are baffled as to where we force the setting (which they've received in Outlook), so the road warriors start working.
Any feedback would be greatly appreciated.
    Thanks.

    Hi,
Please confirm whether the issue only happens to your external Outlook Anywhere users in Exchange 2010.
Please run the following command to check your Outlook Anywhere configuratioon:
    Get-OutlookAnywhere | fl
Confirm that the ClientAuthenticationMethod parameter and IISAuthenticationMethod are both set to Basic. If this is any changes, please run:
Set-OutlookAnywhere -Identity “E14-01\Rpc (Default Web Site)” -ClientAuthenticationMethod Basic -SSLOffloading $False -ExternalHostName mail.domain.com -IISAuthenticationMethods Basic
Then restart IIS service by using running IISReset from a command prompt window.

    Hi Muthu
No need of exits , this can be done using status profile.
    1>Create status profile using BS02.
    2>give status no 10 as initial & 20 as the next .
3> in lowest & highest for 10 give as lowest 10 & highest 20 . For status 20 give lowest & hightst both as 20.
4> double click on status 10 & click on create & set what all business transactions u want to allow when the status is 10.
5> double click on 20 & tick on the radio button set against the partial confirmation button so that when the order is partially confirmed the status is automatically set to 20. in this status do not allow change prod order business transaction.
This should solve ur problem . Explore more about status profile in spro>production>SFC> order>create status profile documentation.

  • Changing duration after applying motion properties?

I have a series of still images that I applied scaling and motion to and I now want to change their duration so I right-click, choose Speed/Duration and change the timecode for the duration to make the still image take less time on screen. After doing this the scaling and motion no longer work. Is there a way to change still image duration after applying scaling and motion to them?
    Thanks.

Looking for some answers (Oh I realise this thread is 1 year old!) about clips duration I bumped into this one. I wonder if part of the above problem had something to do with pictures coming from different cameras - I seemed to notice that with the same preference choice some clips seem to interpret the duration differently? Probably when the aspect ratio is different from one camera to another, or if one has changed his or her aspect ratio on that camera in a shooting session.
I do remember that to change the duration default via preference it has to be done before importing photos in the project windows or has someone pointed out, re import them after changing the default.,
I also thought after changing the duration of clips that had key frame for various functions, the new duration may have excluded those key frames because the shortening had truncated the part where the end key frames were,  thus making them void.
(I'm a little surprised to be in this thread as I had written in the "question" field "still images duration" and was in another thread with 5 entries, the last one from Anne Benz with a shot of a time line, also from Oct 2012! But some how when I tried to add to it, I could not and found for unknown reason I was not signed on! But now I come back signed on with the same question I'm in the different thread?)
Perhaps the following may be interesting and helpful for some. Changing duration of still in the time line can be quite useful when one needs to match the Video sequence with its added Audio.   As you have a display of stills with transitions, animation etc. and you add some music to it. If they don't quite finish at the desire point. (usually with the end of the music, song). You can fine tune it (like within a few seconds) by shortening or lengthening the clip, clips duration. And if it's ok with what  you have you can select the whole (video)  time line  and after deciding how much is the difference between your portion of music and your clips apply that time. Sometimes using only a few clips is enough other times the whole of it works better.  I find it's ok only for a few seconds though as there are a couple of problem with this, The key frames may need to be readjusted and or even be out of action (as explained earlier) In that case it's probably better to have the video clips on a sequence of their own then add the music on a new sequence and match them this way on the same time line.
PS: Titles and anything relying in proper timing placement above this video display timeline needs to be checked, perhaps included or adjusted with clip or clips duration change.
I really was looking at ways of creating a sequence with a variety of animations that I could re used for other project with the "Copy" then "Paste Attributes" in the hope it would be quicker than going back to the "Contor Effect" function all the time. I remember using (MS Movie Maker) and it had a few icons for this purpose that one would apply for a clip. It was rigid but quite effective. This way even if I needed to adjust the key frames, they would already be in place. (I already use this technic with similar pics, I copy one animation I like and "paste attributes to  a bunch of pics, sometimes reverse the key frames, "copy" then select alternate pics from the previous selection and paste the new attributes to them... May be not everyone's taste!
So if I could import such a sequence in my Projects and place it on Video 2  with each pic. labelled with its appropriate animation and obviously key-framed accordingly. (I would have created a photo folder and renamed each of its photos with one of the desired labels, ie Pan down, Pan left, Zoom in, Rotate %,  etc) - But I thought I hit a snag with the duration....
I have actually gave this a quick try and it seems to have some value. I just found out that it's worthwhile to get the shortest but meaningful labeling for this "templates" in order to identify them easily in their smallest view (time line zoomed out) ie Pan Left  = PL, PR, PU, Zi, Zo etc.
